Mascara -Maybelline - Full 'N Soft Mascara Waterproof
kathynoemi 6/30/2012 5:16:00 AM
FINALLY a mascara I can wear daily!! This is a godsend for me. A little background..I have slick straight lashes that get weighed down by mascara so I have to use waterproof mascara (it dries almost instantaneously so my lashes stay curled rather than slowly falling after like, 5 minutes) BUT I also have very dry/brittle lashes so using waterproof mascara on a daily basis would just make my lashes very prone to falling out. I love CG LashBlast and Maybelline Falsies but, like I said, too drying on my brittle lashes. So I had a dilemma for quite some time...I literally stopped wearing any eye makeup because I didn't want thin lashes and e/s without mascara is a no-no for me. I would only wear it on special occasions. Then I tried full 'n' soft on a whim, tired of not being able to wear mascara. It is waterproof, so it dries right away and the work of my curler + mascara don't go to waste AND it leaves my lashes feeling soft and it's super easy to remove at night! (in comparison to other waterproof mascaras) Can you say HG?! As for the work of the actual mascara, it lengthens them and slightly thickens. It doesn't thicken as much as I'd like, but it's adequate enough and if I plop on a couple coats I can get it real thick. I do notice that at the end of the day the curl has started to give in to my super straight lashes and is falling so I'll still use Falsies on special occasions/long nights.

Moisturizers -Clinique - Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel
kathynoemi 6/30/2012 3:09:00 AM
This is my HG moisturizer. I previously tried the lotion version of DDM because the Clinique SA's REPEATEDLY told me I had combination skin even though I told them I thought I was oily. I was 15 and knew nothing about skin care so I thought, hey they must be right they're "professionals". WRONG. I have really oily skin and switched to this and LOVE it! It is moisturizing without being too heavy and absorbs into the skin very quickly. If I find my skin is having dry patches from topical acne medication or harsh winter weather, I just apply a thicker coat at night. It also doesn't break me out which is key for me because moisturizers in particular seem to break me out, I've experimented with others but always come back to this. It is on the more expensive side (for me), but it does last me a good 6 months

Lipstick -NYX - Round Lipstick in Circe #522
kathynoemi 1/8/2012 2:51:00 AM
Pros: -Glides on smoothly -semi-matte finish that doesn't accentuate any dryness on lips -good pigmentation -very cheap Cons: -It's very pale and will suit a select few. I almost feel like its unwearable alone. -not the longest lasting lipstick. I'm an NC25 and this is a touch slighter than what I'd use as concealer so it was not at all wearable alone. I would usually only take off one lippie on a color that didn't suit my skin tone but was a solid color overall but I'm not sure about this one. My friend who is an NC42 tried it and it didn't work on her either. Maybe this works on cool skin tones better? I was dissapointed I hadn't found my new go to nude lipstick (old one got d/c'd :() but I didn't want to just toss this in my lipstick drawer and forget about it forever so I tried it with Sephora Bronzed Beauty lipgloss which is a very sheer berry colored gloss. The combination is lovely; it looks nude with a hint of a berry color, so this wouldn't be too bad for layering. I do prefer nude lipstick with no gloss though, so I wont repurchase.

Cleansers -Clinique - Liquid Facial Soap - Mild
kathynoemi 4/11/2011 1:40:00 AM
I bought the 3 step system and loved the moisturizer and toner. This, however, was a dud. I've seen some people say "well of course this doesn't take your makeup off, you use a remover first" well, that's what I always do regardless of the cleanser. I take of the majority of it with a wipe. Of course there's some makeup residue that's in the pores so I expect my cleanser to at least be able to get rid of that. Nope. I used this, then the toner and there was still so much makeup on my cotton pad. If it can't even remove makeup residue, I can't expect it will really be cleaning my skin. It also smells odd. It does have a nice bottle/pump.

Brows -Maybelline - Ultra Brow Brush On Color
kathynoemi 3/20/2011 3:10:00 AM
This is perfect for me. I have black hair (although people tell me it's actually just really dark brown) and pale skin so if I tried using a pencil for the small "bald" spots in my brows I'd end up looking like a chola/like I'm about to attack you instead of getting neat, shapely brows. So when I discovered this, I knew I wouldn't have to keep searching! I use the dark brown with a Sephora angled brush. The brush it comes with isn't THAT bad for being one that cones with a d/s product (we all know they SUCK) but I think a seperate angled brush works better. It looks natural and is buildable. It's cheap and it lasts forever. Will definitely repurchase...in however many years it takes to finish this one!

Mascara -Unlisted Brand - Apple By Apple - Super Lash

I absolutely loved this product! My lashes are nice and long and not sparse but not thick. My lashes would never hold a curl until I found this. It curled them even more, gave length and volume and just looked amaaazing. I'd wear it alone on "normal" days, layering it on without getting clumps. I'd apply waterproof LashBlast when I wanted even more volume. I'd found my HG. Until I realized it was the cause of my lashes getting thinner. Not because it has any chemicals or anything weird, it's just SO hard to get off. Even with waterproof makeup remover I'd lose lashes from inevitably having to scrub hard. I used oil-free, regular, wipes, etc and always had to rub. I guess because I was a teenager I just kind of ignored the 2-4 lashes on my cotton pad/wipe every time I'd remove this. Then I noticed they were getting thinner and realized it was time to say goodbye and am now on the hunt for something that will hold curl but not make me rip my lashes out.

Concealers -BeneFit Cosmetics - Erase paste
kathynoemi 3/19/2011 12:15:00 AM
I have this in 01 Fair and I love the color of it. It conceals and brightens up my dark circles. It's opaque but creamy so it's easy for me to blend and a little goes a long way so if you guys are having problems with caking you may just need to use less. It does fade but concealers usually always fade on me (even if I apply a powder on top, which I don't like to do anyways because it mades the area look drier) so I've learned to deal with that. The packaging isn't bad but I'd like it better if it was in a tube. The scoop it comes with isn't very useful/helpful.

Moisturizers -Cetaphil - Daily Facial Moisturizer SPF15
kathynoemi 9/24/2010 5:27:00 PM
I usually use Clinique's moisturizer but I just couldn't afford it and this was half price so I thought I'd give it a try, especially since people usually rave about Cetaphil's quality. This made my skin feel greasy when I put it on and look oilier throughout the day. I stuck with it for a few days because, well, I had to and it broke me out like no other. I hate this stuff, it wasn't worth saving 12 bucks.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Twinks

Favorite brown! I thought about get Satin Taupe or another of the browns I always hear about on YT but I swatched this in store and loved the burgundy/plummy undertone so I got it and I'm so glad I did. It's very versatile, blends easily and is very smooth. I use it on my crease on my NC25 skin but I've used it on my friends NC42 skin and it looks great as well! Definitely one of my two HG browns.
