Fragrances -Victoria's Secret - Pink with a Splash FRESH & CLEAN
rated 5 of 5

This is my new find. I was browsing at an outlet store, came upon a small size of Pink F&C and instantly fell in love. It is as its name claims and lasts throughout the day for me. I recently returned to outlet store (my new favorite shopping spot) and to my delight I found a 2.5 oz.eEau de toilette, body lotion and small body mist in a kit immediately snapping it up for $19.99. While not a huge fan of V.S. scents, this is delightful and not just for their target age customers, of which I am not.

Moisturizers -Clinique - Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel
rated 5 of 5
karmarge 1/25/2010 12:33:00 PM

I thought this moisturizer was discontinued since I cannot find it at my usual haunts online. I am not a department store shopper and prefer to find department store beauty items on discount sites online. Needless to say, I still keep coming back to this product. My skin still has some oil and heavier moisturizers make my skin break out. Even the regular DDML can "break me out" but this item absolutely does not do it. When my bottle is empty I guess I will have to make a trip to my local clinique counter but I am hoping to find DDMG online at a discount. Now I'll try harder in my search.

Lip Treatments -Olay - Regenerist Anti-Aging Lip Treatment
rated 2 of 5
karmarge 1/11/2010 1:07:00 PM

I found this half price in my local CVS last week. Even though it was still over 11 dollars and for this price it should have a better consistency and packaging. It tingles shortly after application but this means nothing as to how it moisturizes or lasts. This is perhaps on a par with the first part of MF's or CG's long lasting two part lipsticks since all three companies are owned by Proctor and Gamble. Save money and buy much better products for less.

Fragrances -Jean Patou - Sublime
rated 4 of 5
karmarge 12/1/2009 9:10:00 AM

I've recently revisited some fragrances from my past. I purchased Y and Rive Gauche by Yves St. Laurent and Sublime by Jean Patou. I do agree with Luca Turin and found Rive Gauche somewhat changed but the others are pure perfection. On me Sublime is a floral spicy scent that yes, is long lasting but interesting. It is not "sweet" like the newer fragrances out on the market and is clearly not intended for twentysomethings or younger. I am tired of the food scents and sweet smelling Victoria's Secret scents. I want something that not everyone wears. This is it.

Fragrances -Philosophy - Pure Grace
rated 5 of 5
karmarge 11/16/2009 9:35:00 AM

This is the fragrance I find myself wearing more and more lately. It is an effortless and simple scent, soapy and slightly floral at the same time. It is a comfortable and unobtrusive scent. I have the EDT but I will probably purchase the perfume version soon.

Lipstick -Bare Escentuals - 100% natural lipcolor in Rose Crepe
rated 5 of 5
karmarge 11/16/2009 9:29:00 AM

This is a beautiful color and on my lips looks very natural, which is my preferred look. I love a thicker, drier (as opposed to glossier) finish and this has it. I also love the case which is silly but I love the feeling in my hand. I bought a threesome pack of these lipsticks from QVC and this is the first one I'm wearing. I like what I see so far.

Mascara -Maybelline - Lash Stiletto
rated 4 of 5
karmarge 11/9/2009 9:45:00 AM

Personally, I like this mascara. The brush reminds me of Lancome's Definicils and my lashes look about the same. I cannot fathom why anybody would spend money on luxury mascaras since there are so many great ones in the drugstore. I have long lashes and Lash Stiletto makes them longer. I don't care for a thicker lash look so this mascara will probably become a regular in my rotation of eye products. With many buy one get one promotions throughout the year, I see no need to spend more on a product that only lasts for a few months.

Fragrances -Tommy Hilfiger - Tommy Girl
rated 5 of 5
karmarge 5/22/2009 12:19:00 PM

Since Tommy Girl came out I've had bottles of it periodically. After reading Luca Turin and Tania Sanchez's book I am back to using it again. Turin and Sanchez gave TG five stars and I wholeheartedly agree. TG is a simple fragrance and to me is comfortable to wear. I know it's marketed to those much younger than me but I'm over labelling products for specific age groups. If I like something, it's reasonably priced and is appropriate for my lifestyle regardless of whom it's targeted for, I'll gladly purchase it. TG fits my criteria.

Top/Base Coats -Unlisted Brand - INM - Out the Door Top Coat
rated 5 of 5
karmarge 5/9/2009 4:57:00 PM

This is absolutely the best top coat I've ever used. It dries quickly and my nails are protected. OTD is cheaper than Essie and OPI but it is far superior to top coats of both brands. Cheaper + better = a winner in my book.

Polishes -Essie - Carousel Coral
rated 4 of 5
karmarge 5/9/2009 4:51:00 PM

This will be my polish when I want some color for my toes this summer. I generally go for nudes and whites but after seeing this color on my feet today, this will be my go to pop- of-color for the summer. I love Essie polishes and this bottle I have is over a year old. It went on perfectly and did not get thick. Essie polishes are somewhat expensive but worth every penny.

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Parlux - Jessica Simpson Fancy
rated 3 of 5
karmarge 5/9/2009 4:43:00 PM

Except for the bottle which is very pretty, this scent is just a generic fruity/vanilla. There is nothing that makes this scent unique or memorable. When I asked my husband what he thought of Fancy, he just shrugged his shoulders. That's about how I feel after wearing it about 8 hours. I'm glad I bought the 1 ounce size and it was not an investment of good money. P.S. It's been a few days and I've given Fancy another road test. I hate to buy something sight unseen and feel I've wasted my money so I tried Fancy again. I still would not repurchase but it has grown on me. Perhaps I didn't apply enough previously but the scent is curiously comforting probably since I like vanilla as a flavor. I still feel that this scent is nothing special but I will use the bottle up.

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Heaven Sent- New Dana
rated 5 of 5
karmarge 5/1/2009 10:03:00 AM

I am commenting on the origianl Heaven Sent by Helena Rubinstein. You can still find the original version on eBay and I bought a 2 ounce spray for $19.99 a few weeks ago. I have other bottles of the original that I've picked up through the years. Heaven Sent is a fragrance that hold many memories for me and I wear it strictly when I get nostalgic for my younger years. It is very powdery and soft. It is my safe scent but I don't wear it all that often since it is getting harder to find. I used to love Helena Rubinstein makeup and can remember when it was sold alongside the better makeup brands at fine department stores.

Polishes -Essie - Tennis Corset
rated 5 of 5
karmarge 3/16/2009 10:02:00 AM

I am loving this (non)color. It is transparent with one coat, yet in a certain angle you can see the gold. My nails are clean yet one level above bare. I am not a manicure-every-week person but I could get into the habit of using this as a DIY weekly.

Lotions/ Creams -Jergens - Original Scent Lotion
rated 5 of 5
karmarge 3/16/2009 9:58:00 AM

After using Avon's body/hand creams for a few years and being mildly dissatisfied with them, I found Jergens at my local Target in a special buy two pack and reduced. I bought several bottles (probably enought to last me for years) and by far Jergens beats Avon by a mile. It is light, sinks in quickly and leaves no tackiness. My son loves the ultra healing and I love the cherry almond. This will become a staple for us again.

Fragrances -Revlon - Ciara
rated 4 of 5
karmarge 3/3/2009 10:19:00 AM

I found a duo pack of Ciara and a huge original Cahrlie just before Christmas at my local CVS. The prices were too good to resist. I wore both thirty years ago and even though these are now drugstore scents I remember both being sold at department stores, specifically Ciara at the Ultima II counter. There actually was a Charlie counter where Charlie was sold and a makeup and skincare line was developed in conjunction with it. I guess I'm dating myself here.... For some reason I always get compliments when I wear Ciara. My son just told me he likes it a few days ago and for him to give me a compliment, I am impressed. Ciara hasn't changed much over the years and neither has Charlie original. Ciara is rather strong so I spray it with a light hand but it does last. It works for me especially during the colder months. With all the new fragrances coming out each year, wearing Ciara or Charlie or even Heaven Sent becomes the "What are you wearing?" scent because it is so different from today's offerings. At prices so affordable, these classics will be with me a while longer.
