Hair Color -Garnier - Belle Color Permanent Haircolor
karenz 11/11/2009 11:37:00 PM
I love this hair color. It blends the grays and whites in my red hair and creates great highlights. I hate that "one color" fake looking color, and this gives very natural results. I did recommend it to a friend with dark hair and it did not work as well for her in covering grays.

Loose Powders -Palladio - Rice Powder

Translucent? No way. This stuff contains talc, and it provides a mask-like finish, even when applied with a brush. Not for those of us with good skin who are just looking for a setting powder. Will go right into the garbage where it belongs!

Hair Color -Unlisted Brand - Naturtint Permanent Hair Colorant
karenz 8/26/2009 10:26:00 PM
I loved this hair color until they changed the color of their copper blonde (8C) which was really close to my natural hair color. It is now darker and browner. It may be "good" for your hair and the environment, but if they go changing the colors, yet call them the same thing, why use it?

No staying power. Will not purchase again. These also have a very strong smell.

Eyes -Aromaleigh - Eye shadows [DISCONTINUED]
karenz 8/20/2009 2:51:00 PM
I have really mixed feelings about these eye shadows. The colors are great, and they last, but the texture is very coarse. This means that the individual grains of different colors don't blend very well, so I'll end up with black streaks in a brown eye shadow. I will buy again, but stick with the lighter highlight colors or the matte shadows, which don't seem to have this problem.

Eye Shadow -Fyrinnae - Loose Powder in Fire Opal
karenz 2/13/2008 12:13:00 AM
This review isn't about this particular color, but about these eye shadows in general. I really like the blendability and layering ability of loose shadows, and this is the best loose shadow I've ever used. It is finely milled and goes on great! The colors are wonderful, too. I love the photos of each color, both wet and dry, on an actual person. My only gripe is the length of order fulfillment - I ordered December 13 and just got my shadows on February 8. I'd rather see them raise their prices slightly and hire more help to ship faster. There are some other colors I want to try, but will wait until turnaround time is decreased. But, I have to say - these definitely were worth waiting for!

Lipstick -Paula's Choice - Constant Color Lip Paint
karenz 2/13/2008 12:06:00 AM
I love this stuff. I tried it for the first time a couple of weeks ago, and sadly, it looks like it's being discontinued. I'm a big fan of lip stain - I hate to reapply lipstick, hate the feeling of lipstick. I've used Vincent Longo, Stila, and others, but this is the first one I've used that doesn't dry out my lips. I don't apply gloss because I don't like the stickiness of gloss. At $4.98 a tube on clearance, it's a great buy. I got Sandstone Pink and it matches my lips perfectly for a really natural look, which I really love for day.

Cleansers -B. Kamins - Vegetable skin cleanser

Sigh. I wish this stuff wasn't so expensive. It's the best thing I've ever used. My skin is combination and sensitive. It gets all the makeup off, rinses cleanly, leaves my skin soft and pretty. It doesn't foam, which was odd at first, and a little goes a long way, which is a plus. There's nothing else like it, but it is so expensive I've cut down to using it alternate days, filling in with something else I like so much less.

Treatments (Eye) -Derma E - Astazanthin & Pycnogenol Eye Cream
karenz 10/8/2007 12:23:00 AM
I've been using this product for years. I'm 49 with fair, sensitive, combination skin. This stuff never makes me break out, is soothing where my skin is dry, and seems to have prevented wrinking around my eyes. At my age, morning eye puffiness can be a problem - in fact, it can last all day. If I use this cream, I don't have problems with puffiness. If I forget, well.. Absorbs easily, non-greasy. I've used the day formula, the night formula and the gel and they are all great - it's just a matter of preference. I use a number of Derma-e products - great prices, high quality. High recommended!

Styling Products -Frederic Fekkai - Wave Creating Spray
karenz 4/14/2007 1:54:00 PM
I was dubious about this stuff. I have very fine, medium-thick hair with a very slight wave that I wanted to enhance. I tried shampoos and conditioners that were supposed to create or enhance waves, but none of them worked. Curl creams? Forget it. I saw some reviews on Amazon, so I bought this spray, and I love it! My hair is wavier than I ever thought possible, and I like the shine this spray gives my hair. A little goes a long way, so used sparingly, it doesn't weigh my hair down.

Loose Powders -DHC - Face Powder
karenz 4/14/2007 1:48:00 PM
I love this powder - I use the translucent, which is very light - it's hard to find a really light powder for fair skin. It's very sheer and doesn't cake. As for the packaging, they must have changed it because it's not "cute" - it's a nice large-size cannister with a sifter top. I use my own spongy applicators, since I like to wash them daily.

Styling Products -Bumble & Bumble - Styling Creme
karenz 2/20/2006 2:21:00 PM
Addition to review added 8/21/09 - I actually found something that is just like the old formula - Hickox Styling Creme. I wanted to review this product, but it's not listed, but give it a try. I was very pleasantly surprised and really happy! --------------- Revision to review: They changed the formula of this and it's horrible - does nothing at all. I'm really disappointed. I'll never buy it again. I love this stuff! I've used it for years. It has true memory without stiffness. I have fine, slightly wavy, thick, hair, a couple of inches past my shoulders. I use just a small amount on slightly wet hands. Those who think it's stiff or sticky probably use too much. I've tried using gels and mousses, but once I dry my hair, if I comb or brush it, all body and bounce is gone. Not with this stuff. I keep trying other things, but always go back to it, even though it is expensive. However, it lasts for a long time. It's spoiled me for any other product!

Conditioner -Frederic Fekkai - Protein Rx Reparative Conditioner
karenz 1/11/2004 12:02:00 AM
I have long, straight, color treated, baby fine but thick hair. Breakage was my biggest problem. I tried this after reading reviews on here and it has become my favorite conditioner. Split ends are a thing of the past and my hair is in the best condition and even thicker than before. Doesn't weigh my hair down, either. Cons - hard to get out of the bottle; expensive at $32.50 for 16 oz or $20 for 8 oz., especially for long hair because you need a lot of conditioner. Smells kind of funky. BUT, because my hair is so fine and tangles like crazy, I add Biolage Detangler (another favorite and that helps the smell. I have yet to find a conditioner that detangles AND conditions - it seems like one or the other. Someone just told me about Aquage hydrating conditioner and I'm going to give this a try because it is significantly less expensive. And, it's supposed to detangle, too!

Crème -Zia - Foundation in Rose Quarz
karenz 8/5/2003 1:45:00 PM
Great foundation! You have to apply it with a sponge because it's rather thick. It doesn't offer a lot of coverage and looks very natural. The Rose Quarz is great for my fair, pink red-headed skin. It also works great for my combination skin, keeping the oil down and not looking cakey. Smells good, natural ingredients, it's actually improved my skin overall since I've been using it.

Conditioner -Matrix - Biolage - Earth Tones Natural Brown Color Refreshing Conditioner
karenz 8/5/2003 1:34:00 PM
Hi - I couldn't figure out how to add a new review - this is about this conditioner in copper. Do not use this if you have long hair!! It does not deposit evenly and I ended up with stripes! It probably would work okay on short hair. It does condition well, I'll give you that!
