Lotions/ Creams -Bath and Body Works - Breathe Romance Deep Nourishment Body Cream

This is a wonderful, very rich cream for dry skin. Bath and Body Works calls the scent Amber-Myrrh and describes it as papaya wood, myrrh and honeyed orange. This all adds up to something rich and warm but not too heavy--bearing in mind that I like oriental scents. It's definitely a scent for cooler weather, though, which is fine because the cream itself is much too rich for warm weather.
Lotions/ Creams -Bath and Body Works - Brown Sugar and Fig Body Lotion

I don't usually love the scents of BBW products, but this one is just luscious. It definitely is a cool weather fragrance, a warm scent with a sweet musky undertone, but it's so rich as a moisturizer I can't imagine using it in the summer anyway. Unlike most scented skin creams, the fragrance lingers in a really nice way. At the end of the day, my skin smells the same way it did when I put it on in the morning and it still feels soft. Very nice product.
Foundations -Unlisted Brand - Scarlett Cosmetics - Derma-Luxe Foundation

This is a truly great product. I have dry, sensitive skin that gets blotchy very easily and this evens it out just beautifully. I can use as much or as little as needed and it looks very natural. When I started using it, my sister in law asked me what new skin care product I had started using since my skin was just glowing! I was lucky enough to meet Scarlett at the opening of a new cosmetics store and she introduced me to Derma-Luxe and picked the perfect shade for me. I am eternally grateful-- I don't think I will ever find a better foundation.
Styling Products -Nick Chavez - Perfect PlusVolumizing Flocker

I had pretty much decided not to go near this product because the reviews were so bad, but someone I know had good luck with it and, as it happens, I live near QVC so I could try just the Flocker without any other Nick Chavez products. It is expensive, but it works really well on my short, thick, somewhat wavy hair. I spray it directly on dry hair and it lifts my hair and makes it look more styled and a bit piecy and tousled. I am very sensitive to scent and I did not notice an unpleasant smell. It does change the texture of my hair a little, but all styling products do that. I'm not head over heels in love with this, but it has a significant impact on the appearance of my hair with very little effort
Moisturizers -Clinique - Exceptionally Soothing Cream for Upset Skin

I love this cream. My skin is sensitive and reacts unpredictably. I rely on this to calm it down when it gets red and irritated -- it works very rapidly and it never fails. Great stuff.
My skin has gotten very sensitive recently, so I like the mineral products like BE and Jane Iredale. JI is much more convenient for travel and makeup kits than BE-- BE is messy and no matter how hard you try, the powders leak out of the containers which can get REALLY messy. JI blush is great, I use apricot and it looks very natural. I also use the blush in the warm kit but it's a little too light for my skin-- which is saying something because I am very pale! Great quality, though, and never irritates my skin.
This is a nice, rich moisturizer that feels wonderful and works well even on sensitive skin. However, on principle, I feel strongly that any product designed for the face should have sunscreen. Why did I say I would buy it again? Because it is also a great hand cream and it's a little lighter than the hemp body butter-- which I also like.
Powder -Bare Escentuals - Bare Minerals Foundation #2

I'm amazed at how well this foundation works. I had assumed that the loose powder foundation would be too much of a nuisance and not work on my dry skin, buta friend loves the B.E. line, I happened to be at QVC on business and there was a starter kit on sale. Once I learned how to apply the foundation, it takes no time, my skin looks great all day, no breakouts (and I have sensitive skin), no problems with pores or lines and I am NOT all that young. A tiny bit of B.E. face color over the foundation and I'm done. The only problem is that it is hard to travel with and when it spills in a makeup bag, it's really messy.
I seem to have developed some kind of allergy to a lot of eye makeup, and BE liner and shadow works really well for me. It is easy to apply the liner and obtain either a smoky effect or a fine line and it lasts just as well as any high quality liner. Cost doesn't matter-- it lasts FOREVER! The only problem is thatlike all BE products, the liner is hard to carry with you in a makeup bag.
What a fabulous fragrance--Lyn Harris creates some truly interesting perfumes. Tuberose can be a really cloying scent, but this one is complex and sophisticated while retaining the essence of the tuberose.
Nutmeg definitely makes a stronger statement than the ginger. The sandalwood and cedarwood seem to soften and give depth to the spice scents. However, I haven't decided if know if I would wear this on its own. It's fun to combine Jo Malone fragrances but I haven't found the perfect combination and balance that feels like *my* personal scent.
This is a nice, clean, very citrus-y scent but on me, it doesn't last at all. I get all the citrus top notes, and then it's gone. If I layer it with Miller Harris Tangerine Vert, it lasts longer, but it never gets any more complex. Citrus all the way--which I should have figured out from the name. I like my citrus with some spice for balance.....
Fragrance is very personal. Not only do I love this scent, everyone who smells it on me loves it too. It is warm, rich, and complex, everything that is good about the smell of pipe tobacco with none of the yuck. It smells a little sharp in the bottle, but on the skin (at least my skin), it's fabulous.
Eyeliner -Laura Mercier - Tightline Cake Eye Liner in Bleu Marine
karenina 2/29/2004 7:34:00 PM
This isn't the easiest product in the world to use--soft pencils are much easier--but with a steady hand, you can get a clean, fine line that defines the eye and looks really wonderful. The deep blue looks great with my green/gold eyes and I think one pan will last the rest of my life so the cost doesn't really matter!
Lotions/ Creams -Natural Esscents - Sugar Limone shea butter

I find this product difficult to use. As the other reviewers have noted, the texture is almost hard and I've never been able to soften it. The scent is VERY intense and I find it artificially lemony. I just don't find it useful, and I have dry skin and live in New England, where the winters are rough and my skin gets very dry. I have found this product more useful to clean leather than anything else-- though it does leave the leather smelling very intense, it leaves it nice and soft, and does a good job of getting salt out of boots!
