Other -Paula Dorf - Sweep Away
kaestu 9/26/2009 12:33:00 AM
I have used this product for years! It is great for when I smudge my makeup while applying. It removes what I want it to remove and doesn't mess up the rest of my makeup. The packaging is perfect because I twist up what I need and it is small enough to use in small places, like the corners of my eyes. It packs up to go nicely as well. Unfortunately I lost mine but am off to pauladorf.com to buy another one!

Shampoo -Ojon - Rub-Out
kaestu 6/15/2009 2:06:00 AM
I am joining the growing ranks of people who have had trouble with the packaging. I used it once and everything was great. The product worked great on my hair. But upon using it a second time, little white splotches went all over the place....everywhere BUT my hair. I tried it a 3rd time and really shook the heck out of the can to see if it would help but all it did was make it worse. I spent a of time cleaning the mess up and finished by throwng the item away. I am really disappointed in this way overpriced product and I will definitely not be purchasing it again unless they change the way the product is dispensed. *Update* - I sent an email to Ojon about my experience with this product. It took them OVER a month to respond to my email, and then asked me to email them the manufacturer's code on the bottom and that I could return it to them for a refund. Well, since I didn't receive a timely response I went ahead and threw out the product because it was just sitting there taking up space and I wasn't expecting to hear from them at all. So now I am out the product and out the money. Not only am I unhappy with the product, I am unhappy with Ojon as well!

Moisturizers -Bliss Labs - The youth as we know it
kaestu 5/4/2008 9:26:00 PM
I waited until I used up a whole jar of this before I reviewed it. I didn't want to be too quick to judge and I know that it can take some time for skincare to really show results. While I don't LOVE this moisturizer, it is one of the only I have ever used that actually does produce some results on my face. The biggest difference I have noticed since using this is that my skin is much more glowy and youthful looking. Also, a couple of areas of pigmentation have actually started to fade, ever so slightly....but I'll take it! This does itch a bit when I put it on but it, surprisingly, does not irritate my skin. I haven't really noticed any difference in any fine lines or wrinkles either. I purchased another jar and will continue to use it to see if I have any further results. But I'm not going to call this HG.

Styling Products -Nexxus - sleek memory straightening smoothing spray
kaestu 4/2/2008 11:34:00 PM
I guess I am in the minority here, but this product has done nothing for my hair except make it look greasy the next day. I don't have curly hair, but it is wavy and I have to use a straightener on it every day, even on days that I don't wash it. I was hoping this product would help it keep it's straightness inbetween shampoo days. It didn't. It really has done nothing for my hair except deposit gunk into it. Maybe it is meant for hair that is more coarse or curly than mine....maybe then it would make a bigger difference. But, at any rate, it just doesn't do anything positive for my hair.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast
kaestu 1/28/2008 10:23:00 PM
I seem to be in the minority on this one, but I find this to be very average, and actually, harder to work with than many mascaras. The orange packaging is hideous and takes up a lot of unnecessary space....very wasteful imo! The brush is HUGE, which is good for depositing lots of color on my lashes and for volume, but I find it extremely hard to work with. I can't get it to the base of my lashes, or into the inner lashes without getting mascara all over myself. I also find that this clumps a lot if I apply more than one coat, which I need to do. It also flakes...sometimes right away, sometimes later in the day. I guess, for the price, if you like Diorshow mascara, this would be the better bet because I find them to be similar...but I don't think Diorshow is all that great for my lashes either.

Palettes -Unlisted Brand - Pantina Gel Liner Palette
kaestu 1/28/2008 10:17:00 PM
I have had this palette for several months now. I waited to review it because I wanted to see how long it would stay moist in it's current cardboard packaging since it isn't anywhere near air tight. Well, I am pleased to say that all of the gel liners are still going strong! Imo they haven't dried up at all and still go on easily and smoothly. The plum shade is my favorite for my dark brown eyes. I use it with Stila's eyelinr brush and it goes like like silk. It is easy to smudge, but that also means that it smudges more easily than MAC gel liners, etc. However, I find these to be more cream than MACs. They don't dry on my eye as quickly, however, nor is the wear as long as MACs...but still good enough for day wear for me. I am pleased with this, especially for the price. I do wish it had better packaging though as this is just a flip open cardboard case that isn't sealed in any way.

Self Tanners -Bath and Body Works - tan-do attitude bronzer and sunless tanner for face
kaestu 4/9/2007 12:18:00 AM
I love love love this self-tanner for face. It goes on so easily..it is practically mistake proof. You can use it daily to get and maintain a deeper tan, or just use it occasionally when you need a glow. I like this because it isn't obvious or orangey. In fact, most of the time I don't even notice it until I haven't used it in a few days and my skin looks dull and pale. The only reason I gave it 4 lippies is because it may clog my pores. But I can't tell if it is the culprit for sure or not.

Conditioner -Bumble & Bumble - Super Rich Conditioner
kaestu 4/8/2007 10:42:00 PM
I have finally found a conditioner that will make my hair soft and moisturized! I can't stop touching my hair after using this conditioner. I have color-treated hair (red w/highlights) and I flatiron every day. I also use a color-depositing shampoo which leaves my hair feeling dry. So I have been hunting for a good combo for my hair and I think I may have found it. First I wash with the B+B Creme de Coco shampoo, follow it with Artec Color-Depositing shampoo, and then the Super Rich Conditioner. This combo achieves 3 of my 4 hair goals...good color, soft, and moisturizing. My hair is a bit harder to style now that I'm using this, probably because of the silkier and smoother texture. But that's why I took off one lippie. I guess I can't have EVERYTHING!

Shampoo -Bumble & Bumble - Creme de Coco
kaestu 4/8/2007 10:38:00 PM
I have been looking and looking for something that will: clean my hair, be gentle enough for my red-colored hair, and make my hair soft and touchable. I have finally found it in this shampoo! However, I have to use it in combintion with the Super Rich Conditioner to get all three results. I use Artec color-depositing shampoo in red after regular shampooing, and, while I love what it does to the color of my hair, it really leaves a dry feeling with everything else I have tried. But when I wash with Creme de Coco, then the Artec, and then follow-up with the Super Rich Conditioner, my hair feels sooo good! It is super-soft and I can't stop touching it. I don't have any dry feeling either. The only reason I took off one lippie is because I have a little harder time styling my hair now, probably because this has smoothed the texture. So I guess I can't have everything!!

Eyeliner -Urban Decay - 24-7 Glide on eyeliner in 1999
kaestu 2/17/2007 11:32:00 PM
Being a HUGE fan of UD's 24-7 liners, I had high hopes for this one. I absolutely LOVE plum e/l next to by brown eyes and I was hoping this was going to be the one for me, finally. However, I have been pretty disappointed. Ya, the color is pretty, but this is nothing like the other 24-7s that I own. It isn't nearly as creamy, doesn't go on smoothly, and is really sheer. I really cannot get much color payoff from this, even if I go over and over the line. It is supposed to have some small gold glitter in it but that doesn't show up at all. It is a real disappointment compared to the creamy, pigmented, smooth, long-lasting shades they first came out with. I put mine up for swap.

Fragrances -Kenzo - Flower by Kenzo Le Parfum
kaestu 2/17/2007 11:37:00 AM
I am not a huge fragrance person but this is my favorite perfume. I guess it would be an HG for me because it is the fragrance I always go back to when I try something new. I only have 3 fragrances that I like enough to wear regularly and this is one of them. I don't know about the "notes" and things like that in perfumes, I just wear what smells good on me and doesn't give me a headache! I do like perfumes on the sweet side and this definitely has a sweetness to it, but it is not at all overpowering. In fact, it is kind of subtle. It is also one of the few perfumes that smells the same on me as it does in the bottle, which seems to be a rarity for me.

Treatments -Philosophy - The Microdelivery Peel Pads
kaestu 2/10/2007 11:21:00 PM
These did absolutely nothing for my skin. I mean nothing. They are super thin too. I am a faithful user of DDF's Glycolic Toner 10% so maybe that is why I didn't get any bang for my buck from these, because my skin was used to something stronger. I don't know, but these were a complete waste of money for me. I have normal skin but get hormonal breakouts each month. My skin is fairly smooth and soft but I'm always looking for something that will make it softer and more glowy I will continue using my DDF to keep my skin even and will keep searching for that product that will make it glow!

Blush -Stila - Baked Cheek Duo - Pink Glow
kaestu 2/10/2007 11:07:00 PM
This is one of my favorite blushes. I probably wear it 3 days a week, more than any other blush I own. I combine the pink & bronzey shade together and it is really unique on my light skin. I have brown hair and eyes and this blush looks natural, but has nice shimmer on me. I think this is one blush that can be worn year around as you can tailor how much of each shade you want to wear. I have worn this w/rose eyes, pink eyes, bronze eyes, neutral eyes. The packaging is just okay for me. I am not a huge fan of the "dome" top and the package is, of course, that darn Stila cardboard. But the dome top does make it easy to get enough product on my brush. This product is another winner from Stila!

Blush -Stila - Rose Convertible Color
kaestu 2/10/2007 11:03:00 PM
Where has this been all my life? This is beautiful shade, true to its name....rose. This is creamy, not sticky, and long-wearing. I am an LLL with brown hair and eyes and this gives a gorgeous rosey flush. It can be nicely layered for more color, or worn sheerly. This is really beautiful; I can't believe I never discovered it until now!

Mascara -Tarte - Lights Camera Lashes
kaestu 1/2/2007 1:17:00 AM
This is an okay mascara, nothing terribly special. For the price ($18) I don't love it enough to purchase it again. I find that it does thicken my lashes but doesn't do much for the length and definitely doesn't curle my lashes. This performs better when I put on a layer of Clinique's lash primer underneath and my lashes look better with this on when I line my rims with black e/l. I will use up the product but I'll keep looking for a better mascara (and will probably go back to CG Lash Exact once I finish this.) The packaging, however, is darling with a purple leather look casing, it is much cuter than the average mascara packaging. But the glue that holds it to the tube came loose so I have to hold it tight to be able to twist the lid off.
