Shampoo -Kiss My Face - Frequent Use Whenever Shampoo
kace005 10/11/2011 6:36:00 PM
I have been using this for about a month now along with its conditioner. It is the first sulphate free shampoo I've ever used after I realised sulphates were the reason my hair was becoming so brittle. In case you want to know I have 3b curly hair, dry at the ends, greasy at the root. Believe it or not my favorite thing about this shampoo is actually its smell. It is AMAZING and really lingers in my hair. Also I love the texture it gives my hair along with how soft my hair is now. The negatives for me are mainly how much you need to use (but i gather that is a general problem of these kinds of shampoos) and the price. I think I might look around for other ones since I like switching up my shampoo but it seems like a good first contender. In the beginning I had a lot of trouble using it, so for any beginners for this type of shampoo this is my method. I use a bit less than what I would usually use for my first shampoo and really spread it around my hair. This round of shampooing won't really foam up almost at all, especially if my head is greasy. Then I rinse and use small chickpea size blobs to cover the front and crown, then the back of my head. I find this is the best method to get a good lather going and remove all the grease, by focusing or separate parts of my head. Afterwards I use a lot of the conditioner, almost 2x and much I regularly would and let it sit for a good 3 min. Then my hair is so amazingly silky and shiny, i love it!

works for a while, then it just end up breaking you out more. enough said. Way to expensive for what is actually inside. DO NOT BUY THIS. Seriously... if you really want to get rid of acne get yourself a good moisturiser (oil free, if you can find one that doens't dry you out too much) and some benzol peroxide to put on at night (you can get generic brand tubes at the drugstore for like 4$). Alternatively you can buy a retinoid creme, but you may need to see a doctor for it. And try to get a facewash with zinc in it. I've been fighting acne for 10 year, trust me.

Liquid -Clinique - Anti Blemish Solutions Liquid Make Up
kace005 5/29/2011 6:01:00 PM
I have been using Clinique products for a long time, mainly because of my acne-prone and sensitive skin. I used to use the Blemish Solutions/ Acne-Control Powder which was amazing (!) but they stopped carrying that so i decided to try the foundation version. To be entirely honest I don't think this really does much for my skin, although on the plus side, it doesn't break me out like other foundations do. The color is quite a good fit for me, although I find it difficult generally to be happy with my foundation color. Also you don't need to set this with powder, because it dries VERY quickly after application, so you will need to work over you face in sections. The coverage is quite good, and it is a bit drying so you should use an oil-free moisturiser after removing it. However, I don't feel it wears very well. At the end of the day I can hardly tell I wore foundation in the morning. As a result I am now trying a different foundation from Clinique (superfit, so far, so good). However, i do like wearing it over the summer, mixing it with some tinted moisturiser, because i do feel it sort of protects my skin from breaking out, but this way it is lighter for hotter temperature. hope this helps!

Palettes -BeneFit Cosmetics - Her Name Was Glowla Palette
kace005 5/29/2011 5:49:00 PM
First let me start by saying that I love this set. The instructions are easy to use, great if you want to take something to give you a quite natural look or if you are bad at applying makeup (like me!). I've had it now over 6 months, and even using it as often as I do, I have not even close to hit pan on any of the items. General PROS: easy to use, nice for overall look, good for beginners, nice for seeing a variety of Benefit products in one go, flattering colors, great as a gift. General CONS: not very portable if you only want to take part of the kit. On the the products: My favorite part is probably the blush (coralista) and the highlighters. I love that they give you both highlighter colors, so you can find the one that fits your tone. And the blush is amazing for giving you a glowy finish. It has a touch of sparkle, which although I thought I was against, actually really flatters my skin tone. The eyeshadows are great color variety. I tend to use with my NYX base to give the colors a bit more depth. They wear pretty well, sometime you'll need to blend out the crease with your finger later in the day. You get two quite light colors (white and pinky tones), and pink color, a bronze color and a deeper brown. The deep brown is actually very pigmented. I use the deep brown VERY lightly in my crease and the bronze on my eye, because those show up best on my skin tone. I really think there is something for everyone in the pallet though, you just need to play around with the colors. Just a disclaimer though, the colors are shimmery, so best for youthful skin. I did my mothers makeup with this and it didn't look that good. Also avoid if you don't like shimmer. Mascara (Bad Lash) is fine, but would not purchase on its own. If you want a department store mascara go to estee lauder or lancome instead, its much more worth the extra price. I was obsessed with the gloss in the beginning (peach taste, nude-pink color), and considering I usually hate lip-gloss that is ia huge compliment. Anyways, the packaging of this gloss is amazing and I love the applicator. The color is nice, but probably would not repurchase. Conclusion:The moonbeam highlighter is the only bit of this kit I will be repurchasing, mainly due to price, and that you can get comparable products at the drugstore.

Bronzers -Guerlain - Terracotta Mineral 02 Medium
kace005 9/17/2009 8:15:00 AM
Okay so I will start out by saying that I bough this color in 01 light and instead of a bronzer, i use it as makeup. I just bought it 2 weeks ago and use it along with my trusty clinique powder. I am happy with the texture and coverage. It feels great on my skin, even though I am sensitive and acne prone. Also it is pretty buildable. It is a tad dark but has the right undertones, so I use it over my concealor and then use my lightest powder over it to make it just right. The main problems I have with this product are 1) the box. I think it looks cute, but often powder gets wasted when I open it because it falls out. Also, I don't know whats wrong with me, but I have a really big trouble opening it up. It always kind of catches in the end. 2) the brush. For starters, there is no brush compartment which drives me insane because I need to always keep my kabuki in my purse. This also means I need to keep it clean (sensitive skin) in a plastic bag or something. Ususally I just use the brush that comes with my real bronzer though, so its not the end of the world. What is awful is the texture of the brush they give you on your skin. It is harsh and too small in my opinion. Also it doesn't blend well at all. And the lady at the makeup counter told me it was top of the market... right. I say use your own! So packaging, not too good. But the product is what is important and it is doing its job! I'm not sure if I'll repurchase it yet, but I think there are cheaper products that do about the same thing. It is nice to have it around while it lasts though :)

Gels/Soaps -Ahava - Mineral Shower Gel
kace005 9/17/2009 8:00:00 AM
I was surprised by the past reviews because I have noticed dramatic improvements in my skin since using this product. Personally I love the smell, and only a little bit is needed to do the job. Also it does not give you a squeaky clean feel that comes from detergent based washes, but your skin instead feels soft and refreshed afterward. I have never had skin that felt this good with other body washes I use. I may add now that I live with my sister, who is a body wash fanatic, and she has a new bottle about every 2 weeks so I have tried a LOT of stuff (dove, aveeno, olay, fa, neutrogena, nivea, b&bw, body shop... you name it). I had bacne until I began using this product. I cannot explain why the change was so dramatic for me, but I am in love with this product. I have repurchased several times since I began using it (about a year ago). And one bottle lasts me about 2 months. If you are in doubt though maybe you could try a tester (I got a small 10 mL pack before i started using it regularly). Hope this helps :D

Powder -BeneFit Cosmetics - Hello Flawless!
kace005 9/17/2009 7:11:00 AM
So lets cut right to the chase. If you are looking for a product that is buildable, offers lots of coverage and lasts longer than noon, this is your deal. Personally I think it is a great product, provided that your skin can handle it. I gave this product 4 lippies instead of 5 because of my personal reaction to this product. I got my makeup done with this at my local department store, and was really happy with it... until about 3 hours into wearing it, my face began getting uncomfortable and even itchy. I have acne prone, and sensitive combination skin that gets oily really fast if I do not use the right products. So while this did control the shine and redness my skin just wasn't feeling right. Other negatives where that by the end of the day it did look a bit cakey in my t-zone. However, an overwhelming positive point of this makeup is that it flatters a wide range of skin tones. My skin is VERY hard to find a match for, and I found my fit easily. The sales woman, who had very different undertones was wearing the same color as me (beige) and still looked incredibly natural. Another positive thing is that it comes with a sponge and a brush so you can decide how much coverage you want and easily build it. Overall I would suggest people with sensitive skin or acne prone skin get a test of how it feels on your skin all day before purchasing it. But on the whole it is a great product that looks natural and stays on all day, I truly wish I could use regularly.

Treatments -Origins - Super Spot Remover
kace005 9/16/2009 1:03:00 PM
I just want to start out by saying that I gave it 3 lippies because i believe there are better spot treatments out there, but I'm still relatively happy with its results. I must say I was very aprehensive when buying this. I generally do not trust salicylic acid at all because it just dries out my skin and does not help my acne. But this also had tee tree oil so I decided to give it a shot in my desperation. This really burns when you first put it on, especially if your skin is not used to salicylic acid like mine. I only use it on pimples though, and it is definately not a prevention for acne. But I have to say, from what I have experienced, it does its job decently. I use it in the morning before my moisturizer and makeup as added protection. It often leaves small pimples dried up by the evening. But I must admit that benzoic acid does a much better job for clearing up my skin. Other comments I have are that I think it will last me a long while, and that I adore the smell. Finally I know it seems pricey but for people with not such severe acne that just want an occasional spot treatment this is a good product. For those unfortunate ones like me, who have awful skin, you will definately need some other products along with this to make it work. Conclusion: its nice to have, but definately not a must buy product. UPDATE: This product is still one of the better spot treatments I have tried. I still recommend it for day-time use, especially under makeup!

Fragrances -Marc Jacobs - Rain
kace005 9/16/2009 12:35:00 PM
This is a great product for a great value! The smell like most other reviewers have said, smells fresh and light and just makes you feel brighter. I love spraying it on my clothes in the morning because it makes me feel very awake. There are VERY few perfumes I actually like, and this is definately a smell I have never seen any comparison to. Also I can understand that there may be people for whom this smell is strange or who do not like it because it is not that sweet. But exactly that is what I like about it. There are only two small points that i was unhappy about, which you can easily fix. The first is that it is not really that long lasting, and it does fade by the end of the day. And that brings us to problem number two, the bottle is definately too big to tote around all day. But I must admit, both these things can be fixed with one easy step. I have a lot of empty small perfume bottles. I just cleaned out one and then I carfully poured some of Rain into it. Now I can carry it around and spray when it starts fading. I would definatly give it a try though! and the price is great especially for such a huge bottle, it will last you ages!

Masks -Unlisted Brand - Yogurt Mask
kace005 6/5/2009 9:04:00 AM
Before I heard of this on MUA I had used the Yogurt Mask only once to soothe a sunburn. Its brilliant work should have given me a heads up. I have never used anything so magnificent on my face.I have very oil and acne prone skin. I use Fage full fat yogurt and it works wonders. When I put it on, my face is oily, red and maybe a bit flaky, and when i wash it off 15 minutes later my face is transformed into completely balanced and soft skin. It even shrins white heads. I use different variations of the mask depending on what else I have at hand. I usually use 1 generous tbsp. of yogurt. Then I add salt, lemon and viegar on oily days or honey on dry days. I like to put it only very thick, so the full fat version is best for me. I really don't like it when it dries completely because it is more difficult to wash off. The smell was funny the first time, but you honestly get used to it. I don't even notice it anymore. It also makes a delicious dessert if you have any leftover, just add honey and berries!

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Honey
kace005 6/5/2009 8:51:00 AM
I started using this as a result of MUA (thank you!) and it has done wonders for me. Firstly I use it as a scrub with sugar (i read a review that uses salt and i'm sure that this works too). I use it in the shower for my face and body and feel so smooth and clean afterwards. I've also used it a couple times as a mask for my face. I put it in my usual yogurt face mask when i'm feeling dryness. Also, for aspirin spot treatment it is a good way of keeping the aspirin to your face and soothing the blemish. But the absolute biggest surprise is using it alone on wet hair. My hair is oily but damaged at the ends. I was very worried the first time that it wouldn't wash out, but rest assured it comes out without any effort. I use it after my shampoo and before my conditioner. My hair is so silky and less oily. Also it has this really healthy shine that lasts for several days! I'm so happy and really recommed this to everyone, regardless of your hair's condition. Hope this helped!

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Retin A
kace005 4/21/2009 3:58:00 PM
I will preface by saying I have pretty bad acne. i'm 18 and I have been struggling with it since I was 11. The only thing ever to have managed to keep it at bay is Retin-A. If I were going to a desert island and could only take one thing for my acne it would be this, hands down. Its not too expensive, especially because I can sometimes get it on prescription. In general the effects are good for acne scars and acne of any type. I would say you need a good thick moisturizer, to keep your skin in balance (I use a generic brand from the pharmacy every two-three days as a mask at night). But unlike other anti-acne products (ie. benzoyl peroxide products) it does not dry out your skin and make it flaky. I have been using Retin-A for over 4 years off and on and I have discovered the best way is to use a thin layer on your entire acne-prone area. then use a bit more for spot treatment. I would recommend using it only at night (it is quite sensitive to light) and then use a good oil-free moisturizer (i use clinique dramatically different moisturizer). And as a side note, my mother uses Retin-A on her wrinkles and says it helps. Hope this helped!

Brows -Clinique - Superfine Liner for Brows
kace005 4/4/2009 11:00:00 AM
Practical brow touchup, but as too fragile (others have mentioned this too) and not waterproof. It melts off relatively easy, so its good to keep it in your purse so you can fix up your brows midday. I would rather use other products but I have yet to find anything as easy to use as this. I mean you don't even need a sharpener. So I will probably repurchase it.

Toners -Clinique - Clarifying Lotion #3
kace005 3/22/2009 10:33:00 AM
This toner and makes your skin sting A LOT. The only good thing is that it does control oil. But it also makes my face red and dries it out so much that it starts peeling. It says you should use this twice a day (morning and night) but I have no idea how anyones skin would last that kind of regiment. I would suggest looking into another brand! Upside of the 3 step system is that the moisturizer is very good. *UPDATE* I have offically stopped using this product. It was definately overdrying my skin. Now my skin is much better. I actually don't use a toner anymore and just moisturize my skin. Also I have found a substitute to to the 3rd step of the Clinique program which is much better. Instead I use the Mattifying Moisturizer by Clarins which is so much better for my skin and stops it from being shiny. I still love clinique makeup but their face regimens are not up to their standards.

Lotions/ Creams -Bath and Body Works - True Blue Spa Island Get Away Tahiti Sweetie Body Lotion with Monoi Oil
kace005 3/19/2009 7:06:00 PM
I, like many others, am in love with the smell of this product. I have a travel size for my bag and another one for my bathroom shelf. It may not be the best moisturizer for dry skin (aveeno w/ oatmeal is!) but it makes me feel like it is summer. That is probably why I continue buying this product. My tip would be to wait for sales, then stock up if you love the smell!
