Moisturizers -Paula's Choice - Skin Balancing Daily Mattifying Lotion with SPF 15 and Antioxidants
rated 4 of 5

I don't know that I would call this mattifying, but I frankly don't think anything for those of us with oily skin is ever mattifying enough. This feels thick, but absorbs completely and doesn't make my skin feel oilier, heavy, or like I have sunscreen on. That in itself is fantastic for a moisturizer with sunscreen. I use this after Proactiv Repairing treatment and underneath Estee Lauder Double Wear Light, which is the foundation I seem to keep coming back to. It's fragrance-free and I let it sink in for a few minutes before putting the foundation on, mainly so I don't wipe off any of the suncreening abilities.

Skincare - Face -Pro Activ - 3-Step System
rated 5 of 5
jungleesh 6/29/2012 9:40:00 PM

I can't say how surprised and happy I am with the Pro Activ system. I've known about it for over ten years when some friends in high school used it, but I always thought I was too sensitive to the benzoyl peroxide. Over the years I've tried Retin-A, Epiduo, Tazorac, clindamycin, and most recently Paula's Choice Clear products. I generally don't trust anything sold on infomercial and I've heard horror stories about Pro Activ''s "club" and customer service. So, I got the one month pack in one of their vending machine-like kiosks, and after that a two month supply from Amazon. It WORKS. I use it diligently and now I get about one pimple the week before my period and it takes about 4 days to go away, when it used to take 2 weeks to see those suckers disappear. Oh, and I ruined several towels and pillowcases before succumbing to all white fabrics.

Moisturizers -Cosmedicine - Speedy Recovery Acne Treatment Daytime Blemish Lotion Spf 15
rated 4 of 5

I have very oily, pale skin prone to breakouts. The combination of this during the day and Epiduo at night has REALLY helped my face! The problem is that all sunblocks, by nature of their ingredients, seem to make my skin oilier. Although this doesn't keep my skin matte, if I don't use it for a few days I will breakout. I like that it's an exfoliator, sunblock, and essentially moisturizer in one. Most importantly, it does what it is supposed to do.

Lipstick -Bobbi Brown - Creamy Lip Color - Pink Buff
rated 5 of 5
jungleesh 10/2/2009 12:28:00 PM

I recently read a quote from Bobbi Brown saying that your best nude lip color is about two shades darker than your natural lip color. I have never been able to find this because I am very pale, have cool undertones, and my lips are very light pink/peachish. Most light "nude" colors either turn too peachy or wash-me-out-brown. This lipstick color is perfect! The creamy formula is moisturizing and as long as you don't eat or drink anything (duh) it lasts for quite a while - at least 3 hours. The saleswoman sold me on the Brownie Pink lipliner to go with this, and I usually only apply that in the morning as I'm lazy, but it does make my lips absolutely beautiful.

Styling Products -DevaCurl - Mirror Curls
rated 3 of 5
jungleesh 9/9/2009 12:44:00 PM

Mirrorcurls smells as good as the Angel, but the other users are right about an icky feeling. The first time I used this I put one pump onto my wet hair, then used 3 more with the ArcAngel to style. It did make my hair shiny, but it felt dry and it left a coating on my hands that I could NOT remove all day! And, whatever is in it (maybe the silica?) destroyed my nail polish. It left a sticky coating on my nails. The next time I just used one pump with ArcAngel on my very wet hair. I throw my hair up in a curlease towel - I don't have the patience or time to do the whole blotting business and hate having wet hair on my shoulders and clothes - and then style with more gel and a diffuser (bowl or deva fuser depending on my mood). This seems to work fine, but any product that leaves a coating on my hands and nail polish that cannot be removed with soap and water (if using 3 pumps or more) is something I probably should not buy again.

Conditioner -L'Oreal - Vive Pro Hydra Gloss very dry/damaged hair
rated 5 of 5
jungleesh 1/11/2009 3:46:00 PM

Fantastic conditioner that's better than any expensive brand I've tried! I always use styling products, but occasionally I'll shower in the evening and have "natural" hair dried before bed or in the morning and this conditioner actually makes my hair smooth and shiny. I've never seen any shampoo/conditioner do that. I have fine, frizzy, not naturally shiny curly hair.

Styling Products -Unlisted Brand - Profound Beauty - Curl Glaze
rated 5 of 5
jungleesh 1/11/2009 3:42:00 PM

A "Holy Grail" hair product for me. This is the first time I've ever used only one hair product for my curls. It comes out as a foam and turns into a gel when rubbing your palms together. After diffusing I have really shiny, bouncy curls. There is some crunch left even after scrunching out as much as I can, but that helps maintain the shine. I can get great second day hair out of this and even got away with third day hair on a few occasions. I have lots of thin, frizzy, curly hair and am a certified product junkie. This stuff is pricey ($27) but worth it for the self-confidence it gives me. UPDATE: Three years later I've moved back to Florida (this time to the east coast) and found this doesn't cut it anymore. It left my hair too crunchy with intermittent floofy frizz.

Eye Primer -Urban Decay - Eyeshadow Primer Potion - Original (UDPP)
rated 4 of 5
jungleesh 11/18/2008 9:52:00 PM

I'm really sorry to say that this did not work for me. I tried using all different amounts, I always let it dry before putting eyeshadow on after, and I still got creases after a few hours. In fact, I got more creasing and pooling using this than not using any primer. EDIT: Eventually I got the right amount down and it is the only thing that keeps eyeshadow on my ridiculously oily eyelids - all day!

Mascara -Clinique - Lash Power
rated 5 of 5
jungleesh 11/9/2008 8:13:00 PM

Hooray! A mascara that doesn't smudge! I was a bit skeptical because it claims to stay put and yet only requires warm water to remove (heat + sweat = warm liquid = same thing as what it takes to make it come off?), but it really does stay put throughout the day and comes off with warm water. I was previously using Face Stockholm's waterproof volumizing mascara as every other one I've ever tried left me with racoon eyes (Lancome all types waterproof, Mac Pro-Lash and X, L'oreal Voluminous, Maybelline Exact Lash), but this is cheaper than Face Stockholm's and a little bit more dramatic.

Styling Products -Redken - Elastic Works 09
rated 2 of 5
jungleesh 9/21/2008 7:24:00 PM

I have lots of fine, frizzy, curly hair. I used this on damp hair and then diffused dry - not enough control and just left my hair floofy and surprisingly product-y feeling. I thought it might work better without diffusing, so I tried air drying and my hair once again felt product-y and floofy. As a true product junkie, I liked the idea of a gel with flexible hold, but this one just didn't deliver.

Mascara -Face Stockholm - Volumizing Waterproof Mascara
rated 5 of 5
jungleesh 5/22/2008 12:28:00 AM

I almost don't want to endorse such an expensive product, but it is the only mascara that does not smudge on me. It does a great job at volumizing and lengthening my lashes, as well. I get this in the dark brown color.

Gels/Soaps -Dove - Cream Oil Shower
rated 5 of 5

A fantastic body wash that really makes skin feel smoother. It's hard to get the last bit out of the bottle because it's so thick and creamy.

Conditioner -Redken - Fresh Curls Conditioner
rated 3 of 5
jungleesh 5/22/2008 12:05:00 AM

I loooove the smell of this stuff, but I don't think it does much for my hair. I am a big time hair product junkie, but I don't like spending this much money for something that does nothing. Didn't help frizz at all.

Powder -Pur Minerals - Pressed Powder Foundation
rated 4 of 5
jungleesh 5/21/2008 11:59:00 PM

With oily skin, unfair young adult acne and the inexplicable dry patches, it's hard to find an ideal foundation that takes care of this myriad of problems. This powder foundation doesn't do much for oily skin, but what I do like is that after settling (a few minutes) it really does melt into the skin so that it doesn't look obvious that I'm wearing foundation. The SPF is a must, coverage is buildable, and application is easy. Occasionally I'll use Lancome's Teint Idole Ultra as concealer on trouble spots under this.

Treatments -Burt's Bees - Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream
rated 5 of 5
jungleesh 5/21/2008 11:50:00 PM

Good stuff, as long as I remember to actually use it! It is greasy, so I wouldn't recommend it for any time except before bed, which is what the packaging says anyway. Every time I used it, I woke up with smooth cuticles - and mine are awfully bitten.
