Loose Powders -Becca - Fine Loose Finishing Powder
julielouis 8/2/2005 12:20:00 AM
Gorgeous packaging and an even more fabulous product inside. I actually use the puff that comes with the powder...gasp....but it really works. What is really surprising is that I have never been a fan of loose powder. I know that all the experts say that it's necessary but I just never felt the love. Becca has made me a believer! I press the powder in after applying foundation and concealer. Oh, and if I'm using my Tarte gel I apply over that as well. This really works well to set your foundation for longer wear.

Liquid -Becca - Luminous Skin Color sheer foundation
julielouis 8/2/2005 12:11:00 AM
Ew wee I love this stuff! My skin just glows and the amazing part is that it stays on even in this unbearable Arkansas heat and humidity...ugh. I definitely recommend following this up with the loose powder by Becca, it really does work as a system (see my review for the powder). I basically apply this just as I would a tinted moisturizer...in other words just slap it on! I take more time with the powder, pressing it into the skin. My friend was taking some serious time applying it with a foundation brush and was fed up until I told her how I apply ....using a circular motion apply all over, take the foundation stick and make two swipes by each inner/under eye area, follow up with a foundation brush to blend the two and then press in the loose powder. Ta da....it's magic!

Moisturizers -Korres - Sugar Crystal Cream Multivitamin Skin Shield
julielouis 8/1/2005 11:58:00 PM
Yet another fantastic Korres product. This cream soaks into my skin and preps it well for foundation. The smell is subtle and as usual, the packaging is practical if not attractive IMO. I don't know if it's the cream or my Becca foundation that makes my skin glow like it does but I'm sticking with both because they seem to work so well together.

Lotions/ Creams -Korres - Body Butter - Guava

yummy fragrance, absorbs into the skin well, and comes in a pump which makes it easy to apply. I'm lovin' Korres!

Lotions/ Creams -Unlisted Brand - Curel Therapeutic Moisturiziing Lotion
julielouis 12/28/2004 10:30:00 PM
I have a big bottle of this sitting on the edge of my shower ready to be slapped on my body every morning. It's cheap and it works. My skin gets itchy in the wintertime and this is the one product that works every time. Sure, it doesn't smell that fantastic but it doesn't linger either so I can deal...besides, that's what perfume is for, right?

Lipstick -Vincent Longo - Lip Stain in Cherry
julielouis 12/5/2004 9:55:00 PM
Cherry is a great color for brightening up your complexion. I love the smooth texture and easy slip these have. I swear that I detect a fruity smell but maybe I'm crazy. I like to top with a lip gloss when I have full eye make-up on but use it by itself when I just want a hint of color.

Fragrances -La Maison de la Vanille - Vanille Givrée des Antilles
julielouis 12/5/2004 9:49:00 PM
I was surprised by the poor reviews of this fragrance although I don't know why because I'm one of those rare individuals that thinks Pink Sugar smells awful- I'm scared to review it for fear of getting stoned to death. I don't know if it smells awful to me or on me...I have a feeling it's the latter. Where was I? Oh, yeah, Antilles....I think this is the sexiest fragrance I own and definitely the best on me out of the La Maison fragrance collection. I have the gift set of the four most popular and this is by far my favorite of the lot. It is a lighter version of Angel...which I also love... and definitely more affordable. I do think perhaps it takes a certain chemistry to pull off so try before you buy. Luckyscents is a great site because you can purchase samples before committing to buy.

Treatments -Clarins - Face Treatment Oil - Lotus
julielouis 12/5/2004 9:41:00 PM
I tend to review either those products I hate or those that I love...the others just get ignored. This is one of those products that I love. It smells great, sinks into the skin and takes redness away which is a miracle in my book. I warm a couple of drops between my palms and press it in to my skin, concentrating on my nose and chin. When I wake up my skin is smooth and toned. I'm also intrigued by the reviewer that mixes it with her foundation. I was told by the Clarins rep to only use at night because it would cause my foundation to "melt" away during the day time. I'll try anything once however and now I must experiment with it during the day as well...I'll update with my results!

Cleansers -L'Occitane - (Olive Oil) Face Cleansing Oil [DISCONTINUED]
julielouis 12/5/2004 9:34:00 PM
I have recently become obsessed with essential oils and such. I really like DHC cleansing oil but find it annoying to have to order it via internet. I also ran out of my Sonya Dakar (which I love) but didn't feel like shelling out the forty bucks to purchase a new tube so what's a girl to do? You look on MUA and do a little research. I selected this oil cleanser and am really pleased. It takes off ALL of my makeup, even my eye makeup (which is a must seeing how lazy I am about using a separate cleanser) and the smell is quite nice. My skin feels really clean and comfortable after using. Don't be scared by the word "oil" in the product name, this rinses clean and leaves no residue.

Fragrances -L'Occitane - Vanilla EDT
julielouis 12/5/2004 9:27:00 PM
I second the previous reviewer's comments. I just went to the L'Occitane store and noticed the packaging was different on my ole' stand by true vanilla fragrance. I looked over in horror and asked what the hell happened to the old vanilla and the sales person said that they just "re-packaged" it. I call bull@^. It doesn't smell the same AT ALL. Now it smells like some kind of cheap drug-store vanilla with musky/powdery undertones. Fine, make the new vanilla but don't take the old away. I'm going on a mission to try to find any of the original and meanwhile...I plan to write to L'Occitane and beg them to bring back the original.

Fragrances -Giorgio Armani - sensi [DISCONTINUED]
julielouis 12/5/2004 9:21:00 PM
Yum, I just bought this and much like McDonald's....I'm lovin' it. I think this is warm and sexy and quite frankly, smells pretty darn fantastic on me if I do say so myself. I have a strange chemistry so when I find a fragrance that warms on me just right I shout for joy and this does just that, warms up and smells of sandalwood and vanilla on me even though it doesn't even mention those notes in the description of the fragrance...go figure.

Liquid -Clarins - True Radiance (Light Reflecting Oil-Free) [DISCONTINUED]
julielouis 12/5/2004 9:13:00 PM
I happen to like the fragrance in this foundation. I also think it wears really well and stays on almost all day. I love how it feels so light yet seems to cover imperfections well. I have this in 3 but I think the light reflecting qualities of this foundation make it very forgiving and easy to find a match for most skin tones.

Eyeliner -Urban Decay - Eyeliner Pencil - Stray Dog
julielouis 12/5/2004 9:09:00 PM
UD is fast becoming one of my favorite lines for color. Stray dog kind of reminds me a little of Sue Devitt's Tanzania but in a smaller pencil with less shimmer. I think this looks great on all eye colors. Not only do I wear this color but a couple of my friends (one has green eyes and the other brown) have it as well. It looks especially fantastic with X, Gash and Lounge eye shadows.

Lip Gloss -Urban Decay - XXX shine lip gloss HEATHERETTE
julielouis 12/5/2004 8:57:00 PM
Heatherette is a gorgeous color and the minty freshness of these XXX shines are fantastic. For all of those gripers out there of these glosses I will be more than happy to take them off your hands! I really wish the package were different though, I don't care for the round tip, I would much prefer an applicator but the color, feel and smell is so nice I don't really mind all that much.

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Eyeshadow
julielouis 12/5/2004 8:42:00 PM
Simply the best eye shadow IMO. I have really never worn much eye shadow because they usually just end up creasing and fading. Yes, I've tried all of the bases and primers out there but alas my eye shadow would disappear and crease within hours of application. UD is the exception. The colors are beautiful and rich and stay on all day and into the night. I have Lounge, Mildew, X, Last Call, Cherry, and Gash. I'm afraid I've become addicted and must have more. The only caveat....I wish they would place a little mirror in each of those adorable cases, that would simply be perfection!!
