Styling Products -Oscar Blandi - Lacca Hairspray
juicy70 5/18/2013 5:07:00 AM
I really love this hairspray. First, it smells just like the jasmine flowers that bloom in my garden in May. I am amazed at how they were able to so accurately replicate the scent. Second, it provides me good hold and is brushable, while leaving behind the extra body I need for my fine hair. I've had good results with holding up-dos and bangs in place all day, and haven't had any problems washing it out (I use l'Oreal Everpure shampoo for fine, color-treated hair) I like that their container is smaller and takes up less space in my medicine cabinet (my other HG is Aveda Air Control and their can is a lot bigger). I got it on clearance at Shopper's Drug Mart for 10$; I'm not sure I would pay the 25$ retail price tag but if I found it on sale again I would grab it in a heartbeat. It is definitely worth trying if you like the scent of jasmine flowers.

Hair -L'Oreal - Elnett Hairspray
juicy70 5/18/2013 4:54:00 AM
I don't understand why this is such a 'cult' favorite with hair professionals who would 'load up their suitcases on trips to Europe'. When it was finally available in North America I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. I was very disappointed - first off it smells absolutely terrible, just ghastly. Like an old lady sprayed on too much 60's hairspray from my childhood. I was embarrassed to go out in public smelling of that icky hairspray. Second, it doesn't hold very well and when you brush it out it goes away completely - does not leave behind extra body or lift for my super-fine hair. It's a total waste of money IMO. Stinks and doesn't hold. My favorites for gentle hold and brushable body are Oscar Blandi Lacca (the jasmine scent is to die for) and Aveda Air Control (also smells so yummy). Do not waste your money on Elnett.

Hair -Revlon - Nutri Color Creme
juicy70 5/18/2013 2:44:00 AM
This product is by far the best color refreshing treatment on the market. I use the 1002 when I have blonde highlights and it takes the brassiness completely away and leaves my hair shiny. Worth every penny honestly. Cons: It's not cheap and the hard plastic ball packaging, while cute does waste product. I wish they would package it in a flexible tube instead.

Treatments -Elizabeth Arden - Eight Hour Cream
juicy70 5/18/2013 2:37:00 AM
I received a 1oz tube of the fragrance-free version in a EA GWP bag. I remember my mother having a tube of this when I was a child and the smell grossed me out so I just tossed it to the wayside. A few months later I found it in a drawer and left it on my home office desk; now I find myself reaching for it regularly for lips and cuticles; I also tried it under my eyes since I tend to get really dry and irritated in that area during allergy season and my skin just absorbed it right up. The fragrance-free version has a very mild scent that I don't find offensive. I probably wouldn't get a full-size tube of this since you use so little of it; but I would repurchase if they sold it in the smaller format like the GWP. I do have a question about this cream, what other beneficial ingredients does it have apart from petrolatum - is this just glorified Vaseline?

Styling Products -TiGi - CATWALK VOLUME COLLECTION - YOUR HIGHNESS THICKENING GEL CREME
juicy70 5/10/2013 1:03:00 PM
I am on my 4th bottle of this. I typically rotate my volumizing stylers but always come back to this one. It gives me good body that lasts all day without a limp or greasy feel, and my ends aren't frizzy. There are also UV filters to protect colored hair, really a great product, I use it alone or with Aveda Volumizer at the roots.

Moisturizers -Neutrogena - Healthy Skin Anti Wrinkle Anti Blemish Cream
juicy70 4/30/2013 2:28:00 PM
I have been using this cream for over a month now. I moved from the East Coast to the West Coast 18 months ago and my skin gradually changed from dry to oily/combination. My previous skincare routine (Eluage) wasn't working anymore; my skin looked really dull with clogged pores and some milia (no cystic pimples). I visited a dermatologist who prescribed Clindamycin lotion, at first it did a great job of getting rid of the clogged pores but I started to notice some fine expression lines getting worse - yikes! I added this cream to my routine and the difference is wonderful. My pores stay clear and the fine lines are gone, my skin is perfectly moisturized. I checked out the Beautypedia review on this and they say that the pH is too high for the Salicylic Acid to work but my pores are staying clear, so much so that I don't need the Clindamycin anymore so that means the SA in the Neutrogena cream is working (FYI the concentration of SA is 2%) I also apply this cream uder my eyes and have not experienced redness or irritation; it has done a great job of fading fine lines. I love trying different creams but honestly I will be sticking with this until my skin decides otherwise because clogged pores and milia are gross and this stuff gets rid of them.

Shampoo -Kerastase - Bain Volumactive Shampoo
juicy70 4/16/2013 6:44:00 PM
Update: I wish I had waited longer before reviewing. This shampoo definitely makes my scalp irritated and itchy - I tried replacing it with Nioxin and L'Oreal Everstrong and the itch would go away completely as soon as I stopped using Bain Volumactive. Also with continued use of this shampoo my hair became limp as if there was buildup. I am totally bummed that such an expensive shampoo would hurt my scalp and would advise anyone that has a history of having a sensitive scalp to try a travel-size of this before committing to a full-size bottle. (On the other hand I really like the new Everstrong and will post a review in a couple of weeks) Original review below. I have fine, thin hair that is a bit past my shoulders. I purchased this shampoo from my stylist as part of the Volumactiv trio (shampoo, conditioner and styling spray) and I use the system together. Overall I like this shampoo; it keeps my hair soft while I am washing it and leaves my hair with lots of body and bounce that lasts. You only need a little bit of shampoo to get your hair clean. The only problem is that I find it leaves my scalp a bit itchy which is a bummer because I really like the texture it gives my hair. The itch does not last very long and it may also have been from the haircolor I got at the same time as I started using the Volumactive system. I will update regarding the itchiness in a few weeks.

Conditioner -Kerastase - Volumactive
juicy70 4/16/2013 6:35:00 PM
I use this conditioner as part of the Volumactive trio - Shampoo conditioner and volumizing spray. I get very good results by using all three together (my hair is very fine and thin) my hair feels a lot thicker and has bounce that lasts all day. Concerning the conditioner: It is an OK everyday conditioner that keeps my hair looking good all day vs. other conditioners that leave my hair too soft and the ends end up looking like 'rat tails' as the day goes on. I do use a deep conditioner once a week to keep my ends in shape and plan on eventually purchasing the KS ciment thermique for this purpose. At this point I am not sure I would repurchase; I am worried that it will end up drying my ends too much so the jury is out for now. I do like the results from using the three products together so we'll see.

Treatments (Eye) -Promaxyl - Eyelash Renewal serum Rapidlash
juicy70 4/16/2013 4:52:00 PM
I have now been using this product faithfully every night for 6 weeks and can post a review. I bought it on a whim on Groupon for $24.95; before this I had tried careprost (Latisse generic) with good results but I had to discontinue the careprost because it had discolored and irritated my eye area, made me look old and tired when I didn't have makeup on :( Also with careprost I had to take off my contact lenses every night or else the careprost would warp them (I think it's the preservatives in the careprost) So, back to Rapidlash. I did not experience any of the irritation and discoloration as with the careprost, and I can use it with my contacts in (you apply this once a day before bed). Most importantly, after 6 weeks I got the EXACT same results as 6 weeks of careprost. Long, lush lashes. So from my point of view why would I mess with medications when I can get the same result with something much safer! I wish I had tried this before lol. This is totally HG for me and I'm in it for the long term :-)

Mascara -Revlon - Photoready 3D Volume
juicy70 4/16/2013 4:40:00 PM
When I first bought this mascara I was unimpressed with the result so I just threw it in my makeup drawer. My lashes are thin and short from just getting older so I bought some RapidLash serum to try and get them to grow and the RapidLash worked really well; my lashes are noticeably nice and long now. I brought the 3D volume mascara back out to try it again and it looks awesome with my 'new' lashes. What I really like about this mascara is the brush; it has spikes all over the tip making it easy to coat the little baby lashes in the corners without getting mascara all over your eye area. So, compared to the Cover Girl mascara brushes that barely have any spikes near the end this one is WAY better. The formula is long-wearing and doesn't smudge. I take it off with those mineral oil makeup remover pads before I wash my face.

Conditioner -Garnier - Fall Fight Conditioner
juicy70 3/27/2013 3:12:00 PM
I use this conditioner along with the Fall Fight shampoo. The duo has definitely reduced the number and size of hair clumps I pull out from detangling. My hair is fine, fragile and not easy to detangle but this conditioner works well and doesn't weigh my hair down. The only thing I hate about it is the bottle, it gets impossible to squeeze the last of the product out - annoying. I am on my third bottle of the Fall Fight shamp & condish and will continue to repurchase.

Shampoo -Garnier - Fall Fight Shampoo
juicy70 3/27/2013 3:07:00 PM
I have been dealing with weak hair and hair loss since my 30's. I have tried dozens of shampoos to help control the clumps of hair I would pull out of my detangling comb every day. First off, a shampoo cannot make your hair fall out. Your hair is falling because of other reasons, so figure it out. Your diet, your stress levels, iron, thyroid, heriditary loss. Second, this shampoo has made a huge difference in the number of hairs I lose from detangling. I don't really understand how but it works for me... I guess I was losing a portion of my hair from breakage and not just alopecia. This shampoo has made my hair stronger, fluffier and more revitalized than before, so it definitely looks better in spite of the alopecia. I have zero scalp irritation from it, but to be fair there is SLS in the ingredients so buyer beware.

Lotions/ Creams -Skin Biology - Protect and Restore Body Renewal Lotion
juicy70 3/21/2013 11:58:00 AM
This body lotion is amazing. I am floored by how soft and smooth it makes my skin, and the KP on the back of my arms has disappeared. I purchased the SB-74 Pheromone-only scent; I thought it would be unscented but it does have a powdery, musky smell that I find a little overpowering at first but it does mellow out. I am using this to work on my stretch marks and firm up my skin so I will update my review once I finish the bottle. I am also using the Copper Sun body lotion with it.

Treatments (Eye) -Skin Biology - CP Night Eyes
juicy70 3/21/2013 11:51:00 AM
I have the CP Night Eyes Premier version of this cream; it is milder than CP Night Eyes. The CP Night Eyes Premier has a strength of '1' on Skin Biology's copper strength scale so I felt it was a safer bet to start with. I have been using this eye cream at night for a few weeks now, about 4X a week. I have not experienced any irritation, redness or rashes so I don't know if they reformulated the product compared to older reviews. It absorbs well and has a nice matte silky finish. I have very little eye wrinkling to address so I am using it as a preventative at this point; sometimes I even use a thin layer all over my face (you have to use very very little and the jar is pretty big so I want to use it up before it spoils - I wish they would use a tube packaging for it). I have not experienced the increased wrinkling described by others.

Moisturizers -Unlisted Brand - Fougera - Clindamycin Phosphate Lotion
juicy70 3/21/2013 11:18:00 AM
I have the Greenstone generic brand, not the Fougera; but I suppose they are very similar so I will review here. I thought I had generally dry skin and had been using peels and acid creams to try and improve blackheads on my nose and chin as well as some general skin bumpiness (no visible acne pimples though). I visited a dermatologist 2 months ago for an unrelated problem and during the visit mentioned struggling with dull, dry skin. He looked at my skin and said it was oily, not dry and gave me a script for Clindamycin lotion to try. I disagreed and left thinking he was a quack but still had the prescription filled as it was only 5$ with my insurance... well lo and behold my skin evened out considerably; the bumps under my skin are all but gone and the tiny blackheads I could never get rid of have reduced at least by 75%. This improved the quality of my skin much more than my peels and acid creams. My morning routine has been reduced to applying Clindamycin lotion, an eye cream and a sunscreen. Simple and I am getting lots of compliments on my skin.
