Powder -L'Oreal - Bare Naturale Powdered Mineral Foundation
jrc82 9/2/2009 4:24:00 PM
This is currently my HG foundation. I LOVE this stuff. I use this in the shade "Buff Beige" though I may go a shade lighter now that summer is ending and my skin will get a little paler. I have oily skin, and what I've learned this year is that liquid foundation just does not work well with my face, and that's all I've used for years. This was was first real foray into mineral powder foundation and I am in LOVE. If you want FULL coverage, this isn't for you. If you just want medium/light coverage that makes it seem like you have no makeup on, this is PERFECT. I think this is a great alternative to the pricey Bare Minerals stuff. It's around $13 in the drugstore, but with an ULTA coupon I just paid $10 for my 2nd one. I think this will be my foundation from now on. My only complain is probably the packaging. It's pain to get the powder to come out of the holes, but what I do is turn it upside down and tap it into the big plastic cap and just put my brush into the cap and use it from there. Oh and the brush it comes with feels really rough on the face, but you can use your own kabuki with it and it works just as well.

Misc Beauty Tools -Unlisted Brand - The Brush Guard
jrc82 7/12/2009 3:24:00 PM
I only have one gripe about this product. I deep-cleaned by brushes my brushes and I put them in these to dry in so they would retain their original shape while drying. Well, after 24 hours the brushes were still VERY wet and squished together. I just took them out of the guards and dried them like I always do (laying out on a wash cloth hanging over my dresser). So for DRYING purposes, I don't think these are so great. HOWEVER, these are GREAT for storage and traveling. Considering how cheap these are, it's well worth it, especially if you are a make-up artist or someone who cares around brushes a lot for other reasons.

Lip Treatments -Fusion Beauty - LipFusion Lip Plumping Gloss
jrc82 6/30/2009 2:56:00 PM
What a joke! This product is $30? It's totally not worth it! I got this in a swap (thank GOD) cause I was dying to try it. Granted, my lips are pretty full to begin with, so I don't really *need* a lip plumper. I saw really no difference at all. Maybe if your lips are very thin you can see a huge difference? I have this in "Bare" and it is a very nice nude color, and the gloss itself is nice on the lips, not that sticky, moisturizing, packaging is nice, etc. But the price is OUTRAGEOUS, hence the 2 lippies. If you are the type that likes to splurge on expensive cosmetics once in a while, DO NOT SPLURGE ON THIS! Totally ripoff. I've heard that the Victoria Secret lip plumpers are VERY good, and (while still pricey) they're almost half the price.

Polishes -OPI - Drip Dry
jrc82 6/29/2009 9:27:00 PM
This product does exactly what it says it will do. I notoriously smear my nail polish all the time because I don't wait long enough for it to totally dry before I do other things. This is my HG nail product and I will DEFINITELY purchase it again. I put on my polish, my top coat, wait 2 minutes or so, then put this stuff on and it does the trick. My nails aren't even tacky after using this stuff. LOVE IT.

Blush -NARS - Orgasm Blush
jrc82 6/23/2009 10:19:00 PM
This blush is all I've been hearing about on the web, so I finally bought myself some last week and I gotta say...I'm disappointed. The color doesn't even show up on my cheeks! I'm thinking this is because I'm tan right now, but my skin isn't super dark or anything. I was torn between this color and Deep Throat, however I thought DT looked a lot like my MAC Mocha blush (my HG blush right now) so I went with Orgasm because I liked the peachy-ness of it. But even when I pile it on, I hardly see ANY color! I know it's suppose to be a natural flush, but is it suppose to be THAT natural that you don't really see it? lol I have it up for swap right now but I may just keep it and see if it shows up on my skin during the winter months.

Brows -MAC - Brow Gel - Clear
jrc82 6/23/2009 10:12:00 PM
I've been using this for about 2 weeks now and I guess I'm in the minority here in saying that it isn't worth the price at all. Before this, I was using Cover Girl clear mascara. That controlled my eyebrows MUCH better than MACs brow set. They didn't budge at all. With this stuff, I still see the hairs out of place during the day sometimes. And it's not like I'm rubbing my eyebrows during the day either. I will say, in its favor, that it doesn't make them feel hard or crusty like the CG clear mascara does. But that's the only difference really. I won't be buying this again because I can get something cheaper that works much better.

Blush -MAC - Mocha blush
jrc82 5/27/2009 10:25:00 PM
My first MAC blush and it's my HG blush, hands down. It gives me a natural healthy look with NO shimmers, glitters, sparkles, or anything extra. Just a great natural blush.

Mascara -Jane - Max Lash 2 Precise

I got this for around $2 on a whim. I got the regular one and boy, what a deal! It goes on great, no clumps! The formula is light. I feel like I have hardly any mascara on. And it gives you a natural look, which is great. No raccoon eyes either. Too bad it's discontinued!

Bath Treatments -LUSH - Lush Bath Bomb
jrc82 5/12/2009 8:16:00 PM
I have to say, I've been VERY disappointed with these products from LUSH. So far I've used 4 different bath bombs: Sex Bomb, Big Blue, Youki-hi, and Honey Bee. Sex Bomb smelled nice and turned my water pink, which was cool. For my first bath bomb experience, I was pleased. Big Blue turned my water a nice blue color (I hosed it so the seaweed wouldn't get all over), and I smell was really nice, but I couldn't really smell very strongly which kind of disappointed me. But I also smashed this bomb before using it so I could get more than 1 use out of it, so I thought that was to blame. Next I used Honey Bee, I was VERY disappointed. Couldn't smell it at all. Same with Youki-hi! NO SMELL! Honestly, these things are fool proof! You drop it in the bath, it fizzes, and it should produce a strong smell at least! What a waste. I do still want to try a few more. Maybe some are stronger than others?

Bath Treatments -LUSH - Youki-Hi Bath Bomb

Another LUSH bath bomb disappoints me! I had high hopes for this one because of all the glowing reviews, and the bomb itself sure it pretty, but alas...I put it in my bath (in panty hose) and I smell NOTHING. Nada. What a waste!

Blush -Jane - Blushing Baby Doll
jrc82 5/10/2009 9:33:00 AM
I LOVE THIS BLUSH! It's probably my favorite blush right now. I was using MAC's Mocha powder blush for a while, which I really like, but this has DEFINITELY taken its place. It gives a nice deep pinkish warmth to my face without screaming "I'M WEARING BLUSH!" The best party was that got this for under $4 and a BOGO! I want to collection more Jane blushes now!

Hair Removal -Sally Hansen - Microwaveable Eyebrow, Face & Lip Wax
jrc82 5/5/2009 10:02:00 PM
This is on of my HG products! I'm someone who just cannot bear to pluck my own eyebrows. Pulling hairs out of my skin one by one with tweezers just isn't something I can bring myself to do. I've been waxing for years at salons and to save money I've always wanted to do it at home. I've tried different products (NADS sugaring system which was a total ripoff, NAIR hair removal creams which smell awful and don't get a lot of the hair off, other waxes, etc). I hit on this stuff a few years ago and I have not used anything else since! I don't even have to go to a salon anymore! It heats up in my microwave in under 2 minutes (times vary depending on the power of your microwave). I also use a candle warmer to warm it up, which takes longer but more convenient since I have it in my room and I can just keep it on the low heat for a long period of time. The results are great! I use it on my eyebrows for touch-ups all the time and my upper-lip. The best part is that there's no paper involved! Just put the wax on, let it dry for 30 seconds or so, then rip it off! Very easy. You do have to be careful when applying because it's easy to put on too much and have it get all over your eyebrow or hairline. If that happens warm compresses will get the wax out and it just wears out overtime anyway. I have gotten it on clothes before too which sucks, but you just have to be careful! Don't use this product when wearing good clothing if you're that afraid. Also, storage is a little annoying because the wax tends to dry all over the little spatula and sides of the jar, so you can't neatly cap it again after you use it. Bottomline, if you want to wax on your own definitely use this stuff! It's great!

Lotions/ Creams -The Body Bakery - Angel Food Cake Whipped Cream
jrc82 5/4/2009 7:28:00 PM
This stuff smelled nice at first but then it turns into this really gross cheap smell on the skin. I'd definitely try another scent but I think I'm going to stay away from anything that has "cake" or "brownie" or pretty much anything that's suppose to be a baked good in the title.

Polishes -China Glaze - Thataway

The color is a pretty coral color, but the formula totally SUCKS! It's streaky and tacky and looks like cheap nail polish when it drives. Totally disappointed.

Styling Products -Citre Shine - Highly Polished Glossing Pommade
jrc82 5/4/2009 6:44:00 PM
I got this product at Ulta on clearance for a little over $2. I'm glad I didn't have to pay full price because this stuff made my hair so greasy! Maybe I just applied too much of it...but man...it felt like my hair wasn't washed in over a week. Sure, I didn't have frizz, but my hair just felt gross. I think I may just use this for spot treatment when there's hairs sticking up or something.
