Treatments (Eye) -The Body Shop - Chamomile Moisturising Eye Supplement

bullsh*t...didn't get rid of, or even minimise, dark circles or reduce puffiness. Gave it a 3 only be cause it has the most wonderful, pump packaging which is more hygenic than a bottle or tube, moisturizes well although it leaves a slightly oily shine. Does nothing for fine lines, although I notice it helps to firm up my eye area a little. Very ordinary...fortunately i got it in a sale, so did not waste as much money as i thought i would...try korres evening primrose, heard its real good:p

Moisturizers -Clinique - Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion

Try the newly released gel formulation- could work much better than this horrid oily mess that melts all over your face (instead of into) in times of relative humidity (99% of the 365 days in singapore.)

Skincare - Body -The Body Shop - Honey & Orang body wash
rated 5 of 5
jpayumiboa_hitonara_saira 1/21/2005 10:59:00 PM

hesitated a bit at first, but got it at 2 bottles for S$9.90 during a christmas sale, & boy, was i glad i did! it smells of sweet orange soda, almost like a toned down F&N drink with a hint of honey. Left my skin feeling completely soft & moisturized with a soft honey-citrus scent, though not as smooth as I would have liked. Only gripe is that I need to use a substantial amount each time--my bottle didn't take too long to be half-empty. Great purchase though:p

Scrubs -The Body Shop - Cocoa Butter Body Scrub
rated 5 of 5
jpayumiboa_hitonara_saira 12/26/2004 4:19:00 AM

everything about this, from the choco-yummy scent (I had to resist the urge to have a taste of the product!) to the almond-shell bits + creamy texture rock!!! left my skin smooth, though not exactly silky like Totally Juicy, but it primed my skin for absorbtion of my nivea moisturizer. The cocoa butter scent too, lingered on till the next morning with a very subtle, sexy finish. If only this scrub was edible :p Hmmm... a TBS top pick!

Lip Treatments -Nivea - Lip Care - Repair
rated 5 of 5
jpayumiboa_hitonara_saira 12/26/2004 3:11:00 AM

Tasteless, rich & comforting balm that comforts chapped, flaky, desert-dry lips immediately on application before healing overnight. Exfoliate with a toothbrush first, apply the balm & experience a miracle--that's how good it is :D Only gripe is that with daily use it gets used up fast but IMO it only serves as an excuse to get more. Forget blistex or chapstick or lipice..nivea makes the best eva!

Treatments -Vaseline - Vaseline
rated 5 of 5
jpayumiboa_hitonara_saira 12/25/2004 10:35:00 AM

Pssst...here's my no.one beauty secret: dab ona bit of this colourless gloop onto your eyelashes for the most sultry, oooh-la-la, fan-like volumized winkies ever. Beats ALL the mascaras for sale out there- maybelline, shu uemura, chanel, estee lauder, shisedo...all are RUBBISH compared to this little cheap pot which stay on all day, doesn't smudge & is removed @ the end of the day with a simple cleanser while moisturizing those peepers. Functions too, as a smooth, glossy highlight for your eyelids & an emergency clear gloss for your lips. Only gripe is that it may feel greasy on oily skins & the "yuck" factor in sticking your pinky into a jar or skincare but hey, I will put up with far worse just for the effect it has on my lashes....YOU HAVE TA JUST GRAB THIS!!!

Fragrances -Origins - Spring Fever
rated 3 of 5
jpayumiboa_hitonara_saira 12/25/2004 10:24:00 AM

smells of freshly cut grass & herbs that has been growing in the warm sunshine...really like what spring is supposed to be like... unfortunately it was too "green" for my body chemistry...couldn't detect the florals in it, though it will work for some, especially for a sexily dressed 21-year old kitten at the train station who left behind a trail of, well, green grass. Surprisingly, it really suited her. Hmmm...

Lipstick -Za - Aqualish
rated 3 of 5
jpayumiboa_hitonara_saira 12/16/2004 11:05:00 PM

Received a sample of 3 colours--a sparkly golden tan, a hot mauve berry & a nude brown which was the only colour I've tried (S06). Is fairly moisturzing but does nothing for chapped, lined lips which would do better with a balm + gloss. Love the sheerness & featherweight texture of this lippie, but unfortunately colours take a loooong time to show up even if you are on to your third layer--guess this sheer choco shade doesn't pair well with my naturally brownish-pinkish pigmented lips. Another gripe: colour fades like after 2 hours, with no drinking/eating in between! A very average product, but considering its from Za, be thankful it didn't make your lips peel or swell...try Paul & Joe or Origins Rain or Shine SPF 15 lipcolour for sheer tints worth every cent of what you spent and probaly more...

Eyeliner -Wet 'n' Wild - Eyeliner Pencil in 653D "Fawn"
rated 3 of 5
jpayumiboa_hitonara_saira 10/31/2004 3:27:00 AM

Cute yet sultry shade of light coloured brown, like thehide-colour of young fawns:) Wore it on lashline in place of difficult to apply brown eyeshadows, and in return a cute, will-suit-anyone daytime look emerged. Colour's too light to show up if you are dark-skinned or if you wear it at night. Went on smooth, but was quick to wear away in a matter of a few short hours, so re-application is essential. No way am I gettin' this again with better eye pencils out there. End of short story:)

Other -The Body Shop - TBS - Whole Store
rated 4 of 5
jpayumiboa_hitonara_saira 10/30/2004 10:23:00 AM

Been shopping here since 2003 when I got (badly:) bitten by the makeup bug. TBS in S'pore is a chain of cozy stores with bright lightening, a simple, neat yet classy layout as well as cheerful, "glad 2 B of service" angelic staff. Products which more than just nourish your picky skin-- everytime you use a TBS product you are helping to conserve the environment, aiding poorer communities & preventing animal abuse. Main Gripe: Seems that ALL the products are infused with the widely hyped Sodium Laureth Sulphate as the main ingredient, more than enough to produce fits in all those naturalists out there. Top Products: Its cocoa butter line (heavenly scent of rich, luxuriant choco plus moisturizing benefits, particularly in its lip balm, body scrubs & butters). Its line of shower gels (Satsuma, lemongrass, mango , shea... all the overflowing bounties of Mother Nature at your fingertips) And lets not ignore its range of scents/fragrances, for the home or for spraying on your body. The oceanus line is a particular bestseller:) Woooorrsst products award goes to: Eyecare (the chamomile, elderflower gels do hardly anything to you with the fine exception of driving you to cursing the hell out of yourself for paying a fortune (to a schoolgirl like me) for simple moisturization. 2nd: Its seaweed range of skincare. Contains more preservatives than natural seaweed, controls shine as well as plain water splashed to your face. 3rd: Its range of shampoos & conditioners (Brazil nut, seaweed), all of which contain an overflowing cocktail of alcohol & parfum as the top ingredients, guranteed to result in frizzy dry hair! All for the price of $9.90 a bottle! Go get it, while stocks last!!!!

Powder -Wet 'n' Wild - Silky White 2-Way foundation with SPF 15 and Vitamin E
rated 4 of 5
jpayumiboa_hitonara_saira 10/30/2004 10:01:00 AM

Got this compact for S$14.90 along with a free refill at Watsons during a sale. Shade chosen was a fairly dark 05 Tan, which matched my medium-tanned, sallow skin quite satisfyingly enough:) Powder was milled finely enough such that it can be seamlessly blended onto your skin easily. Gave medium coverage over pores & fine lines but NOT over skin discolourations, started to fade after 4 hours in oppressive humidity & shine will soon start to show up on oily skins if you are unfortunate enough to be caught walking under the sun getting from one mall to another Doesn't clog up pores, but may make existing pimples/blemishes worse. Goes on smooth, not cakey or (gasp!) powdery & fake. Acne-prone skin ALERT! Comes in a grand total of 5 yellow-based shades, plus claims to help whiten your skin. I don't even use this foundation on a weekly basis so can't comment on whitening effect. Overall, a slightly above average foundation foundation with a cheap price tag. There are better foundations out there though (Maybelline, Shu Uemura, Revlon) which are more worthy of your pretty, polished miens put there. Psst... hear American Idol judge Paula Abdul is an adoring fan of this budget foundation despite being a sucker for classy, high-end make-up brands like Anna Sui. Which leaves you to head for the pharmacy/drugstore to test-drive this compact yourself:)

Eye Shadow -Za - 10 ct Eyeshadow
rated 5 of 5
jpayumiboa_hitonara_saira 10/27/2004 10:56:00 AM

The BEST Za product ever--you get two shades of a particular eye colour in one package (mine consisted of a dark matte green shade & a shimmery light green hue) as well as an applicator which picks up the eyeshadow & disperses it onto your eyelids like nothing you've experienced before :) Goes on as smooth as powder (without the troublesome application), doesn't crease even after 5 hoursof freakin' humidity and sun plus it shows up as a sensuous, rich (but not overdone) shade of verdure on my tanned, rather sallow skin. Should suit all skin colours except the very fair, in which a paler, one shade wash of light green would show up more appropriately without that glaring dash of colour. Apply the lighter shade of green just above your lashline on the left-hand corner towards the tear duct while follow up with the darker hue and bring it out to the outer corner of the eye for a night-out look. Blend so the 2 subtly compliment one another. I love the fact that you can use a single shade all over the eyelid if you so wish. Great standout product about the wide Za range of so-so products.

Fragrances -Origins - Gloomaway Uplifting sensory scent
rated 4 of 5
jpayumiboa_hitonara_saira 10/24/2004 10:55:00 AM

Love the scent, the classy, elegant packaging, even the uplifting, almost rejuvenating effect of this spray mist, but unfortunately the staying power of this fragrance (about 4 hours) is nothing to boast about. Perhaps the fact that I just spray this once on my neck contributed to this, but really the alcohol base as well as the diluted formula WILL NOT lead to an all-day power fragrance experience for those who have no patience to spray the product at regular intervals. It is the scent alone, however, which makes this product really worth checking out. It is a nose-tingling blend of ripe yellow grapefruit & orange with a base ofspearmint. No florals or spices detected. I use this daily before going to school for a quick pick-me-up, but don't count on me repurchasing this again--- the fragrance market out there is too diverse for curious gals like me to stick to just one scent forever. Unless it leaves a truly memorable impression on you of course....

Toners -Garnier - Fresh Toner
rated 5 of 5
jpayumiboa_hitonara_saira 10/18/2004 9:51:00 AM

Best toner ever-- the refreshing (store it in the fridge!), alcohol free formula makes it suitable for normal to dry skins as well as for oilier types. The Deeeelicious fruity scent is a great boon too! Cleans away any leftover dirt residue thoroughly without the irritation I associate with alcohol toners. Only qualm is that the product has a tendency to spill out through the big opening hole if you tilt the bottle up when using it. But worth a try at the very least...

Got this as a sample as part of an Emirates airline beauty kit. Perks you up & energizes you immediately with hints of nose-tingling spice but not overpowering enough to knock out passerbys.Take a whiff, & you get what I mean-- really wakes sultry brains up, perfect after long flights! My nose also detect a fruity-floral base. Just the perfume for the career woman cum lady executive cum elegant mum
