Liquid -MAC - Mineralize Moisture SPF 15
josette 4/23/2013 10:52:00 AM
Beautiful quality foundation that goes on creamy. I rated it highly for that but won't be repurchasing. Pro: If you have skin that is dry all over, this new product is perfect for you. It is good for you if you have either Neutral or Peach or Pink undertones and if you don't need a lot of coverage; it will even out your skin tone and help hide pores. It has more coverage than a tinted moisturizer. Cons: I have combination skin and thought this would suit me, but I was shiny within an hour. So greasy in fact that after blotting with tissue, my concealer was not adhering properly - I would pat it on and it would glide around. Also the shades are A bit "off". I have Light/Medium skin with Yellow undertones so I am either NC20 or NC25 consistently. [In Nars I am 'Ceylan'] Well the NC 20 was closer than the overly dark NC25. But they run quite pink or peach in this new foundation. I did powder my whole face with MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Light Plus; but the oiliness came back, so I am going back to Nars Sheer Glow which gives me a satiny look all day looking polished and healthy; as works better for combination skin.

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express Colossal Cat Eyes
josette 1/7/2013 5:50:00 PM
I try all the new mascaras but what a disappointment this one was: 1] It CLUMPS - I use 2 coats for oomph and there is no way to apply this mascara without that happening. Think Tammy Fay Baker. 2] My average length lashes did not look even a little bit longer. 3] What good is volume if your lashes clump? 4] My lashes would not hold a curl, even though I used a lash curler. So I am going back to my favorites: -Maybelline One by One and -Mally Beauty Voluminous.

BB Cream -Maybelline - Dream Fresh 8-in-1 BB Cream
josette 11/4/2012 6:19:00 PM
What an excellent product this is. I have wanted to try a BB cream for quite a while and started with the Garnier BB Cream and was really dissatisfied with it due to the funereal floral Smell of it which lingered a long time after applying. This Maybelline BB Cream is Excellent for the following reasons: 1] No odor 2] SPF 30 3] Moisturizing but not greasy. 4] Enough yet sheer coverage to even out my skin tone and blend easily. 5] No Parabens so I'm not having to worry about scary diseases. 6] Has a brightening effect yet without shimmer. 7] Very low price. For reference, my skin is light/medium with yellow undertones [nc20 to nc25]. My own fault I purchased the 'Light' because Target was out of the 'Light/Medium'. So the color was too pale for me, but I will know better next time. The 'Light' would be good for someone who is nc15 or nw15. To use this, I apply right out of the tube with my fingers. Then I use my fabulous Laura Geller Real Deal Concealer in light. Then I brush on my MAC Skin Finish Natural in 'light plus'. I love this product because it eliminates so many steps yet my skin looks lovely yet natural.

Mascara -Rimmel - Scandal Eyes Lycra Flex Mascara
josette 10/28/2012 6:10:00 PM
I am so impressed with this mascara that lives up to it's hype. My lashes look longer, thicker and most incredible of all - it HOLDS The CURL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is a first for me - I have the straightest lashes and by using an eyelash curler - this actually holds the curl for many hours. This mascara now joins Mally Volumizing and Maybelline One by One as my Top 3 mascaras.

Mascara -Maybelline - Illegal Length Fiber Extensions
josette 4/21/2012 8:57:00 PM
Ouch - I got fibers in my eye both when putting it on. And again at night when I was taking it off with remover and a cotton pad. And while I was using the computer mid day I had trouble seeing and realized I had a fiber in my eye and had to use Visine to get it out. I had been looking forward to using this product because of my medium, straight lashes. Going back to Maybelline One by One, MAC Plushlash, and Mally Voluminous.

Eyeliner -Tarte - LE - SmolderEyes Amazonian Clay Waterproof Liner Collection
josette 3/30/2012 8:30:00 PM
I love eyeliner and am always trying new types. Didn't like this one. I thought that even though it was fat, that I could sharpen it and hold it a certain way to get a moderately precise line. No, it was way too fat and hard to control in my small eye area. The brown was a nice shade, but I soon put this in my 'donation bag'. Overpriced and not useful to me.

Concealers -Tarte - Maracuja creaseless concealer
josette 3/30/2012 8:24:00 PM
Due to my dark and deep under-eye circles and a red blotch on my cheek from blood vessels close to the surface of the skin; I tried this Maracuja concealer. * I found it to be overpriced and it has an oily texture that never dries and therefor it SLIPS around the area that needs it. * To cover real problem areas, you need something that won't move and will stay on the Precise area. Not swoosh around. I put a bit of fine milled powder on to try and set it but it was just thick and cakey then. Settling into fine lines. * I'm going back to my MAC Studio Finish concealer.

Mascara -Tarte - Lights Camera Lashes
josette 3/2/2012 5:13:00 PM
I was anxious to try this mascara as the Tarte products have been so hyped on TV; but I was dissappointed and no, I won't repurchase. * Overpackaged in mock leather and costing $19 at Sephora. * The curl would not hold even though I used my usual Shiseido eyelash curler. * For that price I was expecting my lashes to look better than ever, but it was just "OK". My lashes looked no longer nor thicker, as they do with my all - time favorites. * Which are: 1] MAC Plushlash $15 2] Maybelline 'One by One' @ $8 Both of these others make my lashes thicker and appear longer. For charging this much, the Tarte was so ordinary.

Foundations -Tarte - Amazonian Clay 12-hour Full-Coverage Foundation SPF 15
josette 2/24/2012 7:58:00 PM
I've been using this foundation for about a month so I feel I've given it a fair shake. I find it good coverage but would not get it again. * First of all the color match was good - I got shade Light and it matches my NC20 - NC25 skin well. * But it dries out the dry part of my face - cheeks and eye area. I use eye cream, moisturizer and primer and then apply the foundation with my Sigma F82. But it shows up lines that I've never even noticed before. The consistency is thick and I can kind of feel the fine clay particles - Therefore I think this would be best for people who have all-over oily skin and who need to hide a lot of blemishes. * It's too drying for my combination skin and actually more coverage than looks natural if you don't need that much.

Liquid -MAC - Select SPF 15 Foundation
josette 2/9/2012 11:23:00 PM
I have been on a mission to try out all the MAC foundations to see which is my favorite. This one I won't be purchasing again. On my combination skin, it really dried me out and made wrinkles appear that I never noticed before. Plus my nose was still shiny. So it was a double dissatisfaction for me. The coverage is medium. I wear NC25 and that was true with this product as well. My fave MAC foundation so far is Studio Sculpt. My search continues.....

Liquid -NARS - Sheer Glow Foundation
josette 12/7/2011 5:28:00 PM
I've been using this for a month now and can truly say Sheer Glow is the best foundation I've ever used. I am a foundation and brush junkie and think I have now found my HG - a really air brushed look and medium coverage and a perfect color match. I am between NC20 and NC25 - so I got this in 'Ceylan' and it looks exactly like my light yellow toned skin. The texture is perfect - a perfect satin finish. My system is to use my Cetaphil spf15 moisturizer on throat and dry areas of my face. Then primer applied with my hands. Then after a minute, I apply the foundation with my Sigma F80 or my Sigma F82 brush [both are ideal]. I then take a Kleenex and gently blot and then use my concealer under the eyes and on my red blotch on the cheek. Then lightly powder with MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in 'Light Plus'. This all led to a first-time happening for me - looking in the mirror hours later in my sunny bedroom and thinking - "wow my skin looks glowing and nice" Thank you to the posters who led to my trying this terrific product.

Self Tanners -Jergens - Natural Glow Revitalizing
josette 12/7/2011 5:12:00 PM
This is my go-to self tanner. I get it in the Fair/Medium at Target where the price is low and they sometimes have it in the large size with 25% more product. 1] I have LLL/MMM skin and only have to apply this once every 5 days to maintain a nice light tan on my legs so that I'm not embarrassed by shorts and skirts. 2] It does not streak and applies easily. After 5 minutes I can get dressed. 3] It does not cling to rough patches like your heels, etc like some products do - like the Bare Escentuals one does - at like 5 times the price. 4] I like the 'no-tan tan' look where nobody could tell you have on self tanner and this Jergens product just gives a light golden color.

Blush -NARS - Creme Blush in Cactus Flower
josette 12/7/2011 5:00:00 PM
This is my final attempt with cream blushes. I disliked the MAC ones which were too greasy and not pigmented enough. This NARS cream blush is definitely more pigmented and the red/pink shimmer is pretty nice but I won't purchase again and will give this one away. Because- 1] I look prettier in MAC powder blushes like Blushbaby and in Mally powder blushes. 2] Tried this with my MAC 188 stippling brush - [too faint once I powdered over it] and I tried using my fingers. That worked better but I had to blot with tissue and then add more. 3] To get the supposed 'in from the cold' look you need to put on alot and then lightly powder over it. 4] It's alot of work for an average effect - I can achieve a really nice look with a good powder blush and my MAC 109 brush. And that is so easy to achieve too!

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Perfection Volumizing Mascara
josette 12/7/2011 4:39:00 PM
I was dissatisfied with this mascara. It was mediocre in all ways: 1] My lashes looked defined but no longer or thicker 2] My average lashes looked average after I applied 3 coats to top and bottom lashes. 3] My lashes looked a little better than when I wear nothing - but that's not saying much. Comparing this to Maybelline One by One and MAC Plush Lash is very dismal.

Liquid -MAC - Matchmaster SPF 15 Foundation
josette 10/22/2011 10:05:00 PM
I was given a sample of this in 1.5 and 2.0. I am consistantly an NC25 but found that this product runs rather dark so I would be the 1.5. I have combination skin that has yellow undertones so this just didn't work for me for both those reasons. I wore each one for a whole day and used eye cream, moisturizer, primer, then a light dusing of MSFN in Light Plus over the foundation, followed by Fix +. Yet after all that my skin looked very dry. The 1.5 was a pretty good match though a bit light and neutral on me. I was impressed that my nose and lower forehead stayed matte even after the whole day. But the dry cheeks etc were not worth it. I think Matchmaster is an excellent product - but only if you have all-over oily skin and neutral tone.
