Moisturizers -Cerave - Facial Moisturizing Lotion - PM

One of the few skincare products I actually repurchase regularly. No frills, great moisture, leaving skin with a nice fresh palette to start with every morning. It's non-greasy and really lightweight. I have combination/oily skin (t-zone). This is great for it, but I probably would not wear under makeup during the day.
I have been using this product for three days now, so it is still too early to tell how it will affect my skin in the long term. That being said, so far, so good. I am using the light-to-medium version. The claim Marcelle makes about the self-adjusting pigments seems to be legit. I am very pale, with a neutral skin tone, when I first apply the cream, it goes on a little yellow, but within a minute, the color adjusts to my own, with no problem. I see no differentiation between my skin tone and the cream, which is great because I think I am just too lazy to make sure the cream is applied perfectly so that there is no color blotching. I have combination-oily skin (t-zone), and after 8 hours of wearing this product i still saw no shine. Granted, I used a transluscent powder to set everything in place. For summer, I can see the product being suitable as moisturizer, but I live in Montreal, where the winters are cold and harsh, so I still wear my moisturizer with spf under this. From what I can tell, the bb cream really does smooth everything out while you are wearing it, but I will have to update you with regard to lasting effects both on and off. I was using Clinique Even Better Makeup SPF15, and i prefer the texture of the bb cream. I used to mix my clinique with serum so that it wouldn't cake. This does not cake at all. The coverage between the two are the same, which is amazing since Clinique is more of a foundation than a moisturizer. BB is definitely great as a makeup base, but I did not see necessity to apply foundation after use. I was happy with the coverage. Marcelle says it's non-comedogenic, and so far, I don't have any clogged pores or little white bumps as a result of use. UPDATE: 1 month later, and I am still very much enjoying this product. Still no clogged pores, application has become much easier with some experimentation, and no longer wearing any powder over it. T-zone still seems to be happy! UPDATE 2: summer came, and the oily t-zone came out in full force. I think I am going to have to abandon this until Fall. But i normally only wear liquid "foundations" or such products during winter months.

I also bought this product after reading about it in allure. While it is suggested for use with fine hair, I actually have coarse wavy thick hair and it still works wonders. It definitely gives body and volume to blow dryer styled hair. It helps facilitate the styling process (i don't have to work the brush as much) and it keeps the style over a few days. I can't wash my hair everyday since it's so dry, so I've gone up to 3-4 days without washing with this product. Not once did my hair appear oily or flat. I've also used this as product when I let my waves air dry naturally. Amazingly, very little frizz and lots of shine were the result! I am very impressed. It didn't define my curls or make them bouncier, though (like other products have). Also, I won't use more than 3-4 pumps for below shoulder length hair. If so, I find it makes the hair a bit stiff. Definitely rebuying.
amazing, amazing, amazing. It moisturizes better than some of the regular lip balms i have (blistex, neutrogena, chapstick). The colors are perfectly sheer, just enough to polish a look when you don't want to look like you're trying to hard with lipstick. It has a satin finish, dewy, but not shiny like a lipgloss. LOVE. please.never.discontinue. I bought fuller fig and woppin' watermelon. I loved the richness of fig for winter and the vibrancy of watermelon for summer
Lotions/ Creams -Olay - Touch of Sun Body Lotion with sunless tanner

HG lotion + sunless tanner. Honestly, the effect is subtle, and won't give you a dramatic tan, but it will definitely get you to glow if you were ghostly pale before using it. The best part? it works just as well as quench without the touch of sun. What a great moisturizer. Love double duty products. It doesn't streak, absorbs very quickly. I won't exfoliate every time I use it, but I do try to exfoliate with a scrub at least once a week. The rest of time I just wash with a loofah and apply out of the shower. (weekly applications = 4... I don't think you need more than that). Leaves skin looking warm and soft :)
Aspirin masks are fantastic. I find they do a great job at evening out skin texture and tone. I do not have acne, but I have combo skin and large pores on my nose. Every few weeks I get tiny little bumps (not too numerous, but enough to frustrate me) on my cheek. So about once every two weeks I will use the following very simple mask: - 3 (non-coated) aspirin tablets, crushed, with about 2-3 DROPS of water to form a paste (not more or the mixture will become EXTREMELY runny) - 2 tbsp honey I will apply to my face and wear it from anywhere between 5 - 15 minutes. I find it keeps my sking very neutral. I've had less problems with t-zone shine since I started using this treatment. My pores also appear smaller because the aspirin does a good job at cleaning them. I will definitely keep doing this unless my skin starts to have a different reaction to it. PS: I usually use this mask in the evening and follow-up with night time moisturizer. You will definitely see a difference in the morning
I bought this because of the positive reviews and because I was looking for something cheaper than my MAC "golden" bronzer (previous HG bronzer). There are three color options, and I went with the "Bronze".This stuff lived up to the hype. No noticeable shimmer, so I don't look like a sparkle face, and just enough pigmentation to make me feel like I spent the weekend in the sun. The color is not orange. I am very pale (borderline grey) and this stuff wakes up my face very nicely. The only issue I seemed to have had is that it cakes on top of cream blush (something MAC didn't do). I guess I will have to reverse my makeup application step and apply the bronzer first, followed by the cream blush (maybe that's the way you're supposed to apply it anyways, so who knows...). Definitely repurchasing and would recommend to all my friends who previously lived by Golden
simple but good eyeliner. In my experience, it stays on all day without smearing. It comes off easily enough with regalar make-up remover. I love that it has a smudger/sharpener built into the end of it. :) Very comparable to Avon glimmersticks. UPDATE: only true for black. I bought a khaki color and it barely went on without ripping at my eyelids. I had to demote my rating.
Bought this because of so many positive reviews. I was using L'Oreal Voluminous, and while that did what I wanted it to do, I found it smudged, flaked, and difficult to remove at the end of the day. This definitely is fantastic for everyday wear. It gives volume and a bit of length. It doesn't seperate lashes well though, so it requires quite a bit of work with the brush, which ends up forcing you to add more layers of mascara (which wouldn't normally bother me, but there's some days where you don't want very dark lashes because you're going for a more laid back look). Anyways, it washes very easily, and so far, to my experience, doesn't flake. It also hasn't dried out as quickly as Maybelline's Collosal has. Would definitely repurchase. I would probably stick for L'Oreal on special evenings when I really want to maximize a dramatic effect though. This doesn't full compare, but gets you at least 75% there.
Lotions/ Creams -Avon - Moisture Therapy Oatmeal Body Lotion
josephine1234 3/1/2011 11:09:00 AM
HG LOTION. Great Texture for quick application. This stuff won't solve dry skin problems, but it will leave you feeling moisturized. I would suggest using this in combination with something stronger if you have problem skin, as I find the moisture lasts MAX 12 hours (so you need twice daily application). For example, I have KP on my arms, so I used lubriderm with AHA for that, and this for the rest of my body.Love that it is unscented.
Cleansers -mark - That's Deep Purifying Gel Cleanser
josephine1234 3/1/2011 11:04:00 AM
This is a fantastic gel cleanser. No frills, just get's the job done. I personally love the scent of it, as I find it refreshing. It does a great job at the end of the day of cleaning up any residue that was left behing by makeup remover. I've noticed a significant reduction in the visibility of my pores, and my t-zone seems to be less oily by the end of the day. The texture is enjoyable. I have combination skin normal/oily and I would highly recommend it! I hope they NEVER discontinue this product.I am extremely satisfied.
As some of you have already pointed out, this moisturizer is fantastic when it comes to dealing with KP. I would not suggest that it "cures" it, though. Frequent use of this product will keep those pesty little bumps at bay. In all honesty, my arms have never felt smoother than they have after using this product for 2 weeks. I haven't noticed an exceptional benefit to my legs, though (I don't have KP on my legs, just extremely dry scaly skin). And steer clear of using this on your feet. I find the AHA causes the skin to feel extremely uncomfortable. Definitely would repurchase, but probably only to use on my KP-troubled arms.
I will add the slew of commens and reinforce the fact that this stuff is fantastic for minimizing the appearance of scar tissue. Great alternative use: Severely chapped Lips. Put a dab on at night before going to bed and you'll have soft lips in the morning that will take you to at least the early afternoon before you have to re-apply balm.
Styling Products -TiGi - Catwalk Curls Rock Curl Amplifier
josephine1234 12/2/2010 2:51:00 PM
I have been using this product for years. Every once in a while, I get bored of it and try to find something new, but I always end up coming right back to this product. The trick to using this properly, after much experimentation, is to use it on WET hair, that has note been towel dried. Also, do not comb your hair after showering. If you hair is tangled, use a comb on soaking wet hair in the shower while the water is running on it. The reason for this is because a comb breaks through your natural wave/curl, and contributes to frizz and inconsistencies in your curl. Same goes for towel drying. It is a little aggrevating to have wet hair dripping down your back, but I usually put a towel over my shoulders to absorb the dripping. Pump 1-2 drops of this into the palm of your hand, rub your hands together, and then rake it through your hair to distribute evenly (you won't have to worry about the sticky blobs getting "stuck" in one place). If your hair is very wet, it will help you with the distribution problem. Start midway between your roots and your ends. Don't apply too much to the roots, it will flatten out your hair. Twist some pieces on the crown of your head for added volume. Flip your hair upside down, cup the hair in your hands and lift towards your roots to emphasize curls. DON'T SCRUNCH! Use a diffuser or a wide mouth blow dryer (think travel versions) on a medium setting. I swear, it works everytime. It took me a long time to get the perfect "formula" This stuff works better in the summer/humid warm settings than in the dry air of winter. I sometimes switch to curls rock mousse for dryer months.
dirt cheap, works wonders, doesn't feel to waxy. perfect for multiple applications. The smell and taste are barely noticeable. Great as a lipstick base. EDIT*: I really liked this at first, but then I noticed my lips were always chapped, and I had to reapply this more and more often. I then figured out that this product may have been actually causing the chapping. I stopped using it and my lips healed.
