Maybe I got lucky but mine doesn't have an of the application problems anyone else seems to be mentioning. It is a beautiful pink sort of ballet pink with some gold shimmer. Great and work appropriate. I found it to be perfectly good with only two coats and a basecoat. Reasonable staying power for me. Love the color! Definitely a keeper. Thanks for some lovely MUA'er for sending it to me!
I bought this last christmas and sort of forgot about it but pulled it out recently. It is a subtle gold micro glitter with sparse but lovely larger red and gold flakes. I loke it. You can put on one coat and it is so sublte and no one can tell if it chips. Two coats or three and it pops. It doesn't scream holiday by any means to me. I am wearing it now. I wish I had bought more as it is a small bottle!
Sunscreen -Lancome - Bienfait UV SPF 50+ Super Fluid Facial Sunscreen
jordandean 12/20/2012 7:39:00 PM
I have bought many face sunscreens trying most every matte facial sunscreen on the market. This one seems to be the only one that works for me. I love that it plays nicely with makeup going on matte and sinking into skin quickly allowing me to apply my base right after and I stay matte all day. It has a high SPF, which since I have melasma, is a must for me or I get brown spots immediately. If you get this in your eyes it will sting like crazy, more so than other sunscreens. This seems to break me out less than other comparable sunscreens. I wish this was cheaper or that Neutrogena matte sunscreen which is cheaper worked for me. I do find it on ebay pretty regularly for $22 pretty regularly.
Lipstick -Revlon - Colorburst Lip Butter in Fig Jam
jordandean 12/20/2012 7:32:00 PM
I am a little late to the Lip Butter party but they were on sale at CVS this week for $2.99 after CVS bucks back so I decided to try Fig Jam. It strikes me as a slightly more pigmented version of Black Honey. It has such a nice luxurious feel but is more pigmented than my average tinted lip balm. It also seems to slightly tint my lips so even when it wears off my lips retain a little hint of color once the product is gone. I will definitely go check for other colors while this sale is on and might have to stick one in my Mom's stocking too!
I have been using this product for close to 10 years or so I would say. Before then I didn't even bother with such things as eye creams. I got this as a sample in a gift with purchase and loved the texture, the lack of strong smell and after a few uses the skin around my eyes seem not as tight. I think it hadn't been properly moisturized before. I love the light non greasy texture and now 10 years later at 37 I have almost zero lines around my eyes. I know most of my classmates from high school have not been so lucky. Maybe she's born with it, maybe it's the Clinique to rip off the old Maybelline ad. I buy the .5 oz pots twice a year and get the free gift with purchases from whomever has a fun one out. I find it is only a dollar or two difference from the one ounce pot and I then get 2 GWP goodie bags instead of one!
Beautiful formula cream eyeshadow. I think I like it better than the Benefit cream eyeshadows and at 25% of the price. Nice heavy glass packaging. This color is lovely can go on sheer with a light application as a light brown/bronze look and with slightly more product can be much more opaque. I like to do a sheer wash across my lid with my fingers then slightly more near my lash line and then fade up for a loveyl very light bronze/smokey eye with a little eyeliner added in (l'oreal colour intense felt tip liner in earthern rock brown) for some drama. Great for daily day/work wear and lasts all day on me with no primer underneath.
I really enjoy the opportuniy to try multiple new blushes by Nars. Especially as Nars blushes are so pigmented this palette size is still generous as it is the size of their eyeshadows. I have enjoyed trying Sin and Desire but as many reviewers have said I had already tried Orgasm and truly wish either Orgasm or Super Orgasm had been swapped for Dolce Vita or some other iconic Nars blush. Casino is too dark for my light to medium skin tones but the highlighter is nice. I wouldn't buy it again as I truly only use half the palette and ut was quite expensive.
This formula has a lovely texture (cream to powder) and goes on more sheer than it looks as it is quite bright in the pot. Which is nice as you can build from a sheer wash of color to a much more dramatic cheek as you like. What really blows me away about this new formula is the lasting power. I literally have to take it off at the end of the day. No reapplication necessary for 12 hours. I don't own a blush, no matter how high end, that can stay that long with that intensity in the South Florida heat and humidity. I bought Flushed the pink one and liked it so much I went back for Coral. I will definitely be interested in trying any new colors they bring out as this formula is fantastic. Also the amount you get is very generous. At $13.49 it is a little steep but wait for a sale I got mine for $7 and $8 respectively with deals and coupons at CVS.
Lovely opaque nude with a hint of metallic/opalescent shimmer. Took me two coats only to do a nice coat on my fingernails. Really lovely shade very hard to describe but has lovely undertones. Came in my Birchbox.
Eye Shadow -E.L.F. - Mineral Eyeshadow in Socialite
jordandean 3/1/2011 10:24:00 PM
Wow, I got this along with 9 other Mineral eyeshadows as a promotion from ELF with a $15 purchase. I generally am not a big fan of loose eyeshadows and wasn't sure I'd like these, but this one has changed my mind! It is a amazing color with a lot of depth. I guess I would call it a duochrome as it appears mostly platnimum grey to me but flashes a little taupey/brown in some lights. My favorite application to date is to use this as a liner over a wash of another ELF eyeshadow called Socialite. I use a little eyeliner transformer and then dip it in the eyeshadow. You can apply it dry as liner or use it for a smokey eye so it is very versatile. I think I may make this part of my everyday eye routine. It is so flattering!
Beautiful color, but as the previous reviewer mentioned it has an odd texture. Extremely creamy almost oily. Doesn't work as an eyeshadow or most anywhere else on me. Used as a highlighter on my brow bone and my inner v on my eye it is ok. I got it 75% off so for under $2 I didn't lose much. Also most of the caps were cracked and pencils used in display. Mine was unused and cap undamaged but be careful as many of these had been tried.
Great daily cleanser for in between deeper cleanings. I use it mostly on eyeshadow brushes so I don't muddy my colors. I spray on the brushes a couple of times then wipe until clean on a paper towel or cotton square. I like the scent and it dries quickly after cleaning. Mine arrived leaking but when I complained they sent me a new one. Large size bottle and appears to be a good value for the money.
Like another reviewer I bought this product by accident. I was looking for a cheaper version of my Lancome Bienfait matte sunscreen 50+ and ordered this tinted version by accident off ebay. Love the finish; it is semi-matte and is fairly thin so spreads easily and covers well and evens out skin tone. I don't need powder over it. It would be my HG tinted moisturizer/sunscreen except it has an overwhelming flowery smell. It smells good but is too strong and I am not especially sensitive to those things. It is so strong that an hour or so after I had applied it someone commented on my nice perfume. I wasn't wearing any. When someone can smell my face when standing next to me I think that is a little strong :(. I will use this up but will continue my search for a tinted moisturizer/sunscreen.
Eye Shadow -Wet 'n' Wild - Color Icon Trio - Silent Treatment
jordandean 1/18/2011 10:32:00 AM
This is a lovely new trio from Wet n Wild's 2011 collection. Each shadow in the trio is marked with where on the lid the shade goes. Of course shaking it up from the typical is half the fun. This is a great neutral trio but beware as other reviewers have stated the crease color is very dark. Here is how I use this trio on a daily basis for a basic neutral daytime eye. I use a light coat of the shimmery taupe on the lid. I use the browbone color, a pale pink, and put it on the browbone blending it down into the lid color. I just tap my crease brush into the crease color (a dark color maybe a charcoal with specks of bronze?), brush it off on my wrist and use the remaining shadow to smoke out the crease very gently. I then use eyeshadow transformer to wet line my eyes with the crease color (you can also use visine, saline solution or water). I line the top and half the bottom. This makes a great neutral eye with impact but not too dark for daytime wear. It would be easy to take this to a night look by adding more crease color. The shadow qualities are as good as my Stila and UD ones and better than my Clinique. I am definitely going to get a backup of this trio the next time they are half price! The trio comes with two brushes that would work in a pinch but I use my own with better results.
Treatments -Alpha Hydrox - AHA Souffle 12 percent Glycolic AHA
jordandean 12/16/2010 1:21:00 PM
I have been using this product for 6 weeks. It has done a great job at evening my complexion and has turned my previously dull skin around. Without makeup I have a nice glow now and am contemplating ditching my foundation for daily use. I use it on my neck and cleavage too and because it is such a good price I feel like I can spread it around. I also put it on the back of my hands. I am given this to my mom and friend for Christmas and I think they will thank me! I have normal/combination skin and am not prone to breakouts.
