Lipstick -Laura Mercier - Stickgloss in Pink Jewel
joheinous 2/18/2011 2:30:00 PM
I've been using the bronzy color Baked Earth and the pinky color Peony Stickglosses for years. I've rebought them many times. None of the other colors appealed to me for various reasons (didn't work on me or weren't that unique). I'm neutral in coloring with blue eyes, highlighted light brown hair and medium light skin. I do have a fondness for warm pinks, so was quite excited with the recent release of Pink Jewel. It is one of the more pigmented stickglosses I've ever tried. It is a a beautiful and pigmented warm pink, but nowhere near fucshia type of color. It almost leaves that lovely popsicle pink stain on my lips as it wears off. I cannot shout loudly enough about how thrilled I am with this find. My lips really love the moisturizing stickglosses in the wintertime and they are so easy to put on effortlessly, even without the benefit of a mirror. This color certainly brightens up my winter look and makes me feel like it's almost springtime.

Eye Shadow -Laura Mercier - Stellar
joheinous 2/18/2011 2:20:00 PM
I'm eternally on the hunt for THE perfect champagne wash color for my lids. I have deep set blue eyes and I won't leave the house without a wash of light color to brighten my eyes. Stellar is one of the best I've tried. Like the previous reviewer said, it has shimmer but no frost. For those of us getting up in years, that is the secret of what makes this particular shadow so wonderful. It lights up my eyes in a subtle way. No crepyness and no glitter fall out. This one goes into my top rotations.

Eye Shadow -Laura Mercier - Eye Color Pot in Bronzed Gold
joheinous 5/29/2008 2:45:00 AM
This cream eyeshadow and loose powder compact wasn't getting rave reviews on the board, so I was really unsure about ordering this sight unseen. But, generally, LM products do not disappoint me. Anyway, I am actually thrilled with this eyeshadow. I also bought the duel ended brush which made application a snap. Since it's a cream shadow, I used UD PP as a base and then applied the beautiful bronze cream shadow from lid past the crease. Then I applied the loose bronze shadow sparingly over the area. The brush seemed to control the amounts very well.To lighten my lid area I added a little Stila Kitten shadow and my blue eyes really popped. Proper application using the right tool seems to make a big difference. I would recommend this color and the brush for something a little different. I don't have a bronze shadow quite like it and I thought I had that color family covered.

Hair Styling Tools -GHD - IV Styler (all sizes)
joheinous 11/4/2007 1:34:00 AM
My hair is very straight and long, so I didn't ever believe I *needed* a straightener. But, I was pleased at how smooth my hair looked after the stylist at the salon ran hers down my hair and flipped the ends. So, I bought a T3. This seemed great, it helped smooth the hair, but it never seemed able to curl my uber straight locks. Then I bought a Solano which also had the benefit of being duel voltage. Well, this was an improvement, but I never bothered using it since it really didn't seem to do much. Finally, I wanted to curl my hair for an event and the stylist I go to now suggested the GHD. She showed me how it could curl my hair, smooth it, it heats up in seconds, is duel voltage and is absolutely everything I could want in a flat iron. It's very expensive, but I found you definitely get what you pay for. Learn from my mistakes.

Lip Gloss -Laura Mercier - Bronze Glitz Riche Colour Glace
joheinous 3/29/2007 12:50:00 AM
Everything the previous reviewer said is right on. I've been wearing this color for a year now and still prefer it over anything else in my major lip product collection. It looks amazing over so many lipsticks. My all time favorite combo seems to be Bakes Earth Stick gloss with Bronze Glitz on top, Nude Beach l/s is also a great combination. I keep a tube of Bronze Glitz and Baked Earth with me at all times! I've already bought it a few times over. I'm FFF/Neutral/blue eyes/lt. brown highlighted hair

Palettes -MAC - Holiday 2006 Warm Eyes
joheinous 11/1/2006 3:22:00 AM
Wow, I think this is the best Mac has done for their Holiday palettes in years! The palette is attractive, functional and a good value. I have blue eyes and this is definitely a blue eye'd girls best friend. All the colors can be mixed and matched for fantastic looks. Also, Embark is my favorite of all time liner color from Mac. I say grab this one, even if you are tired of Mac or have loads of their shadows already.

Eye Shadow -Chanel - Les 4 Ombre Quadra Eye Shadow 84 Galets - Beige Collection 2006
joheinous 10/19/2006 5:19:00 AM
I was prepared to go through a lot of trouble to get this palette expecting to be disappointed but would be able to recoop my losses in the swap market! I was wrong on all fronts. Well, because of a lovely member, I was able to get this palette quickly. Then when I tried it, I found that the colors and texture are beyond my expectations. They're really beautiful and work well together, no additional colors are needed. Final verdict, I'm keeping this set, sorry, it won't be showing up on my swap list. The colors are lovely neutrals and being that I'm blue eyed and neutral coloring these are perfect for me. I used UD PP as a base and they stayed put all day. Big thumbs up from me.

This has become my HG Copper Red for going out to dinner and date night with DH. It looks amazing, it stays on, I can eat and drink with abandon, and it looks pretty hot on me when I wake up! DH likes that part!

Polishes -Chanel - Holiday 2006 -229 Givre
joheinous 10/12/2006 9:01:00 PM
This nail color is LE and part of the 2006 Holiday European collection. I raced out to buy this and was not disappointed. It's a lovely opalescent (Pearl Shimmer as the name suggests) color with just the right mix that gives coverage but sheer, it's perfection. I love wearing colors like Essie Ballet Slippers or Madamoiselle, nude pinks. This is the same idea but with a twist and a nice change. I love it!

Lipstick -Chanel - Rouge Allure Holiday-Ambience
joheinous 10/12/2006 8:51:00 PM
I love the previous reviewers description of a Rose/Pink Sunset. Perfect. It has a gold sheen to it to that makes it very flattering. I didn't plan on buying it, but once I saw it, tried it on, it had to be mine! I really like the Rouge Allure formula since they're moist and glossy looking, the tube is so elegant. I compared this color to my favorite color Emotion. It's not as red, but rather contains more of a peach tone. It's also a lighter shade, maybe more of a daytime version of Emotion. I think this would fall into the Glossimer Sesame family. LE (at least outside the US).

I just love this color on my toes. It looks rich, it's classic and best of all, it completely covers my bruised toenail (from running)! My current pedi favorite.

Lip Gloss -Stila - Lip Glaze Stick in Fruit Punch
joheinous 6/1/2006 1:07:00 PM
I'm lukewarm about the Lip Glaze Sticks. They are cute, fun and convenient, but not anything that you cannot live without. I have really pigmented lips and Fruit Punch barely showed up on me. If you have a lot of natural lipcolor like me, try Orange-- has a lot more pigment and gives my lips a pretty summer melon color. FFF/blue eyes/neutral

Lip Liners -Prestige - Waterproof Lip Liner-- Fleur
joheinous 5/25/2006 7:37:00 AM
My HG lip pencil for years. It's truly MLBB. When I need a long lasting lip look I always fill my lips in with this under my lipsticks and I'm good to go for a long time. One of my favorite combinations with this is my lips filled in and Nars Orgasm lipgloss over. It's just fantastic. On me, I"m FFF with pigmented lips, I'd define this color as a deep rose.

Blush -NARS - Cream Blush in Gueule de Nuit [DISCONTINUED]
joheinous 4/29/2006 9:25:00 AM
I can't believe I bought another blush, I thought I had everything in the color spectrum covered. But, I didn't! This cream blush is just a perfect blend of bronzy coral with a hint of rose. It also really does do double duty on my lips with Chihuaha lipgloss or even clear over it. I finally have another option for an all-in-one item that really works for me when I'm on the run or going for a minimal look. The only other thing I have that does that is my Stila Peony CC. I'm FFF/Neutral/Blue eyes

Eye Shadow -Stila - Baked Eyeshadow Trio - Copper Glow
joheinous 4/23/2006 6:20:00 PM
I expected to be disapointed with this shadow trio but instead I was pleasantly surprised. The colors are smooth and are long lasting. They're shimmery, but not over-the-top and if you have blue eyes and like warmer colors (raises hand) this shadow will be reached for often, especially in the summer. The lightest shade is a creamy, off white, but not too bright. The copper shade is definitely coppery, golden, but is amazing on my blue eyes. Finally, the chocolate brown liner shade is actually dark enough to smudge into my lash line for a perfect eye look. I'm really pleased and I pretty much have every shadow and palette Stila has made. I didn't think there were any surprises left for me! FFF/Neutral/Blue eyes
