Candles -Unlisted Brand - Cire Trudon - Empire
jogu78 9/26/2012 4:57:00 AM
my reviews for the nazareth candle and not empire becos i cant create a new review yet . regardless of nazareth or empire or any other cire trudon scent i will neverrrrrrrr ever ever ever buy a cire trud candle again. NEVER. why not? welp theres almost no throw to em, i mean that for real too not exaggerating. listen i dont have a prob dropping $85+ for a candle. i have l'artisan candles, frederic malle , havent bought diptyque yet but heard awesome things bout em, i even buy nest candles so i dont only buy expensive ones; i want candles that have a reasonable throw and unique fragrance which is why i dont do yankee candle bullshet. i dont want plastic generic smells like holiday cookie or c0ck after new years eve sex candles . im extremely familiar w/ cire trudon candles, their heritage, the scents they come in and their various products but had avoidin buyin one cos the reviews i read are polarizing. some are crazy good with stuff like "omg even unlit the candle scents my whole house!" to negative like "no throw and glass was uneven". when i spend that much on a cotdam candle i want it to perfume my whole room at the very least and i expect the fragrance to be complex or have a good amt of depth. so i finally decide to get my 1st cire trudon and picked nazareth. i had originally gone to barneys lookin to pick up a frederic malle but i thought lemme try a cire candle finally. big , expensive mistake. i know all the dos and donts of candles and even during the initial burn i could hardly smell it. and the candle wanted to tunnel so bad i was surprised at the amt of effort i had to do to try and stop it from tunneling. it burned very cleanly however with no smoke/soot. the glass vessel is a pretty crimson color and feels nice n heavy. i have to hold my face over the candle to where i can feel the heat in order to get a vague hint of its smell. thats a no no specially at that price. if ur reading this then u prob are interested in pickin up a cire trudon candle and have probably also read the same polarizing reviews where some ppl say its top notch w/amazing throw whereas others (like myself) say its the opposite. let me warn you again before u make a mistake: DONT waste ur $. the fact that theres extreme inconsistency w/ many reviews is already a bad sign. me personally i believe the positive reviews to be genuine and not fake but that indicates severe inconsistencies w/ the candles production and at $85 each thats totally unacceptable. so why play roulette and risk buyin a trudon candle when it could be either a dud or highly perfumed? u aint gonna be able to tell that just by smelling it either. another thing to take into consideration while readin other trudon reviews: one a my friends raved on an on bout these candles so when i told her bout my sh*tty experience she was like what no way! so i brought it over and lit it so she could see for herself how crappy it was. then she lit what was left of hers (which was ernesto) and u kno what? i could hardly smell it either! i was like cmon, u raved about these and now in person i find ur candle hardly emits a throw too?! what happened to all the praise u gave me bout them? u liar ... she was like wait wait waiiiit i swear i remember it completely perfuming my whole apt. i was like uh huh thats why i cant smell anythin from it and neither can u. so i caught her braggin bout a candle that did almost nothin which i thought was very odd. why lie about a candles throw? its not like she works for cire trudon and if anythin her lil lie there cost me $85 . i cant return this pos candle to barneys either, at least i dont think i can since i already used it. so dont believe the hype you read in reviews for cire trudon candles. even if some ppl really did have a super fragrant one (which im doubting. i think some a these reviewers are paid somehow) its just not worth the risk.

Cleansers -Neutrogena - Oil-Free Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit Facial Cleanser
jogu78 7/29/2009 9:10:00 PM
Some of you are paid representatives for Neutrogena, I know this becos there is no way this cleanser is receiving 5 stars from many of you. I thought I would try this cleanser as a relatively cheaper alternative to my usual cleanser that costs about $20 usd. Mistake. I gave this cleanser a chance and used it twice a day for 2 days before i had to stop. It dries my oily skin out and was rather irritating. I got a few red itchy patches on me forehead and as i lathered and massaged this on my face i can actually feel it slightly burning due to the irritation this caused. My skin is not particularly sensitive so I know with certainty if it is irritating me it WILL irritate others. The smell was... decent, albeit synthetic. I picked up a tinge of ammonia as i cleansed with this, amongst the artificial grapefruit fragrance. All those absolutely unnecessary synthetics in a cleanser should have warned me of wot to expect and after just 2 days of use this will now sit on my sink as a hand wash instead.

Skincare -Clarins - Clarins Men - Total Wrinkle Control
jogu78 12/2/2008 11:49:00 PM
ohkeh, heres me review for clarinsmen total wrinkle control: id read bout this stuff in a magazine and wanted to try it since ive got minor wrinkles under me eyes and some acne scarring. 1st off the fragrance is mild and slightly floral/sweet. not too bad , not sickening, and i find it goes way before i realize it. as far as how well it controls wrinkles? ive been usin this for a lil over a month, everyday, all over me face and i have found that this DOES WORK. there are many times when i have this on and a few hrs later look in the mirror and im like "wow... seriously wow... my face looks tighter, younger". those tiny wrinkles under me eye do in fact look reduced cos the skin is tighter, altho not a hugely dramatic change, its def noticable. HOWEVER, i find this only works while wearin it. i can see a difference when im not wearin it vs when i am. i dont believe at this point that the effects are lasting; in order to get the tighter skin u have to wear this, once u wash it off or dont put it on the effects are gone. perhaps after a few more mos of usage ill find this to be not be the case but i doubt it. regardless, this product works. on a scale of 1-5 with 5 being laser resurfacing lol, id say the tightening effect while wearing this is a 3 to a 3.5. i will be buyin this again for sure

Primer/ Corrector -Sephora - Anti-Shine Primer
jogu78 11/23/2008 5:51:00 AM
ok, so like i got a sample of this at sephora and tried it out and here are my intial reactions: this made applyin foundation difficult. i use a liquid oil free foundation and this primer def. made it harder to blend. i also noticed that sometimes id get white flakes from this rubbin off me face when usin a brush to buff the foundation on, although ive never had the flakes after the foundation is on. this DEFINATELY makes my skin look verrrry matte but unfortunately i dont like the matte look; i think it looks unnatural cos no ones skin is that matte w/out make up on. if you like the matte look then this *is* a great primer. as others have mentioned though u will have to work harder at blendin your foundation in. what i find happens is the foundation kinda... clumps i guess, if you dont work very quickly and then youve got a mess. so you have to wipe it off the area and go again which is annoying. bottom line: if you want a matte look that stays matte for some time then yes this is good. is it worth the extra effort? imo, no. but i dont like extra matte, which this creates. i prefer more more radience

Fragrance -Juicy Couture - Dirty English
jogu78 4/23/2008 9:48:00 PM
im really picky bout mens fragrances. i wear them often but only select ones; i hate smellin like everyone else, aka armani, polo, any of those aquatic/citrusy ones nowadays. my friend at sephora wanted me to try this and i was like holy .... this is awesome. i didnt know it was juicy at the time as id prolly not have even given it a chance had i known beforehand. dont let the brand fool you as this is some good sh*t. the name makes me think of my time in london, goin to pubs almost nightly (there was one in the basement of the place i was stayin at the time). when you walk out you smell of cigarettes and bourbon, mixed with whatever cologne u wore that night and the smell of debauchery. dirty english, the name AND the actual smell, evokes that. even the color of it is like whiskey. just think: shot glasses, a few smokes, and hot sex. put it all together and there u have it.

Skincare - Face -Shiseido - Facial Cotton
jogu78 1/14/2008 3:26:00 AM
im a guy and maybe its that reason im not giving these a 5 rating. heres why: i find that they are so gentle that they start to shred/fall apart as i wipe them across my face. i only used these to apply toner after cleansing and i ended up having to use 2 per use becos they just kept falling apart on me. maybe its cos i didnt shave for half a day and that tiny amt of stubble causes them to fall apart. i dont know. im definately not knocking this product as i will admit these cotton pads are EXTREMELY soft and feel very nice. however, they are too gentle for me. i even tried wiping verrrrrrrrrry softly and i found they still curl up and/or start to fall apart. i use sephora brand cotton pads which are soft yet very sturdy. i can use both sides of the pad and those babies refuse to shred on me.

Moisturizers -Clinique - Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel
jogu78 10/20/2007 7:56:00 PM
ME: very oily skin with occasional breakouts. The only makeup i wear is foundation so i needed a moisturizer that would be light enough for my very oily skin yet hydrating enough to make my face soft for foundation after cleansing. DDMGel is it. As many reviewers have said this moisturizing gel truly does go on effortlessly and quickly absorbs into the skin with absolutely no heavy feeling. in a second after applying it you can touch your face and feel how supple it is w/out the grease. Dont get me wrong though, this isnt super hydrating as its pretty light and i wouldnt really recommend this for drier skin types but this isnt made for those people. its for individuals with normal to oily skin. if you fall into that category you MUST try this. i almost gaurantee youll be adding a review yourself giving it high marks, also. I've gone through 2 tubes of this already. how many other moisturizers have you gone through completely and continued to repurchase? the fact that myself and hundreds of other reviewers keep buying this is proof enough that this is great stuff.

Cleansers -Cosmedicine - Healthy Cleanse Foaming Cleanser and Toner In One
jogu78 7/26/2007 1:59:00 AM
I searched for this cleanser on here to see what other reviews were and I am glad Im not alone when i say this cleanser made my skin itchy and red and patchy in certain areas. i really wanted to like this; loved the idea its a toner in one! i used this for a week and i noticed after a few days i was kinda itchy but i didnt think anything of it. well after the week i could FEEL the itchy patches on my face as i cleansed with this. i still tried to believe it wasnt the cleanser that was causing it but it was the ONLY thing that i was doing different. to test my theory that it was in fact the cleanser i stopped using it and went back to my old cleanser. a few days later everything started going back to normal. this isnt a bad cleanser it just isnt good for me (and a few others here also!). becos other people have had the same problems with itchiness or drying i would be a little cautious when trying this becos it isnt just one or two people complaining. its enough of the same complaint to warrant some caution. this did have a weird kinda fishy or chemical smell but it wasnt too bad. it was kind of a hospital clean type smell so in some regards that was reassuring lol. UPDATE: been over a year and i came here and am readin more and more negative reviews for dis shit. DONT USE IT. TRUST ME

Cleansers -Clinique - Facial Soap for Oily Skin
jogu78 7/24/2007 3:48:00 AM
i HATE this bar soap. i have extremely oily skin with occasional mild breakouts so the SA told me to use this particular soap since its for oily skin, however my skin is sensitive. this soap isnt irritating but it dried my skin out so much so that with or w/out moisturizer my skin got sooo out of control oily. i thought maybe it was becos its summer and warmer but when my friends started to tell me "you look shiny tonight" i began to wonder what was wrong. the ONLY thing that changed from my skin care routine was trying this soap so i figured it must be the culprit. well i went and got the mild liquid soap and problem fixed. this soap isnt bad but my God did it ever make me extra oily and thats bad considering how oily i already am. The pluses to this soap: It has a nice, cooling feeling when used. The plastic box this comes in is neat. This soap will definately last a looooong time! Reason being it's going to sit on my shelf cos i sho aint usin it again!!

Toners -Clinique - Mild Clarifying Lotion
jogu78 7/23/2007 2:43:00 AM
ok, i rarely used toners in the past but i wanted to start using them after my cleansing routine. after reading all the reviews here i thought id try this one. i have extremely oily skin, like VERY oily so in theory i should be using clinique #4 lotion however i cannot stand alcohol. i dont understand why they would put alcohol in a toner that one is supposed to use right after washing when one's face is stripped of moisture. anyway (sorry LOL) i love this stuff. the texture is like spit BUT dont let that mislead u into thinking this goes on thick and feels heavy cos it absolutely doesnt! you give this bottle a quick shakey shake and put some on a cotton ball and swab over your face. man, right after cleansing this feels great on the skin. soothes and slightly moisturizes but 100% doesnt feel thick, greasy, heavy, etc. for anyone wondering how it might affect someone else with very oil skin like myself this doesnt seem to cause any extra oiliness nor have i noticed that it reduces it (it doesnt claim to do so but i know when i used this i was cautious becos of its thick nature that it may make my skin even oilier). i want to try other toners to see how they fare against this but this toner is #1 on my list. Just go buy this stuff already. It really is as good as I say and all the other positive reviews here.

Mens -Clinique - Oil Control Hydrator
jogu78 7/22/2007 10:06:00 PM
i have extremely oily skin; all over but especially the tzone. i was hesitant to try this as i believed if something i put on my face stops oil it must be blocking the pore, which will cause a blemish. this product actually DOES control the oil and for me to say that with the level of oiliness i have that is incredible. however, it only lasts about 2 hours for me. if youre just a bit oily id imagine this to last longer. still, 2 hours is 2 hours which is better than nothing. i have been using this a few days a week for a few weeks and havent noticed any breakouts from it. im still a bit leary since it contains talc which i read can cause breakouts, however im not scientist or dermatologist and this could be false. i i usually just apply this to my tzone area and use the moisturizing gel on the cheeks instead. let me give u an expample of how effective this controls oil: after washing up in the morning ill head out the door for work. 25 min ride later and i park and check the rear view mirror before i step out the car. BEFORE i used this there would be little dots of oil on my nose as if id been sweating. NOT EVEN A HALF HOUR AFTER WASHING and my skin was already exuding oil. well, i bought this, used it and checked myself in rear view mirror.... NOTHING. isnt that crazy??? but again, this only lasts about 2 hours on me then its back to oily as normal. ill buy this again if i see it hasnt caused any breakouts. i told this to the clinique girl and she promised me i would not break out from this. i told her "but it has talc" and she said its a small enough amt to not cause any problems. for some reason im still paranoid about this even tho i havent seen any problems on my face.

Liquid -Clinique - Clarifying Makeup Clear Skin Formula [DISCONTINUED]
jogu78 7/22/2007 2:43:00 AM
hmmm well this stuff is kinda good but not great. as many many many reviewers have noted it does dry very quickly so u only want to squeeze a tiny bit out and u gotta work with it fast. the consistency of it is a bit thick but for some reason it does not feel heavy...at all. its actually quite light feeling. here are some problems i have with it: becos of its thickness and texture i find, again as some reviewers have noted, that it doesnt really fill in pores all that well but instead kind of just goes OVER them. thus, if u have some areas on ur face that have large pores this tends to highlight the large pores. how do i explain this better... it goes on a tiny bit like a mask... just a tiny bit. You know how you put, say, a clay mask on and it you can see certain pores that are open? That's what i mean. the shade is a bit off but not dreadfully so and in these summer months i actually like the slight difference in color. i have not had any breakouts using this, so thats good considering its not supposed to cause them! i even slept with this on one night... i know, bad bad bad, but i didnt have a choice. no breakouts from that. the tube this comes in is sleek and i like the metal cap. it seems like it might get a bit messy over time but most foundation tubes get that way eventually. my skin is extremely oily. im talking OILY OILY. not just tzone and i do take care of my skin. i just have very oily skin. my skin is rather sensitive also and can sometimes break out. the reason i bought this foundation was becos id hoped it would control my oil, at least for a little while. unfortunately it doesnt. it doesnt make it worse either, but it doesnt control it. i wont buy this again, not becos its a bad product, just becos there are better options out there. i really would not recommend this to anyone and i hate saying this becos this isnt a bad product at all. i just think for the price, which is decent, there are simply better options. oh i want to add somethin about the color: despite the color of the foundation itself looking very close my own face color i find that it makes me look paler. i dont know why this is. in pictures or even if i look in the mirror and i have this stuff on i look whiter. i noticed other reviewers saying the same thing and its kinda true. i dont know about looking like "death" but yeh.. this will make u look paler. *** EDIT *** Hmmmm, you know somethin? After using this foundation for a few weeks I actually find that I really like this. As I mentioned above there really isnt anything wrong with this product but I wasnt recommending it to anyone, however now I will. The caveat though is to be warned that this isnt going to on easily like most liquid foundations. I want to stress that even though this appears thick it does not feel heavy in the least bit. Here is what changed my mind: After using this for a week straight I noticed that it was in fact controling my oil somewhat. My tzone still gets oily but not as quick and my cheeks stayed matte for much longer than any other foundations I have. Becos my skin is SOOOO oily SOOO quickly there will never be a foundation that will control it for hours on end but I can totally imagine this foundation to control oil for normal to slightly oiler/combo skins very well! The downside is still the color. On paper this matches my tone well but when applied it looks a bit lighter. I suppose when this runs out I'll just try another darker shade.
