Conditioner -Garnier - Nutri-repair. For dull, dry, stressed out hair.

If you have really dry hair, do try this. My hair gets oily after the second day so I do wash it everyday, which gets it a tad dry. At $3.99NZD a bottle from local supermarkets it's a very affordable nourishing conditioner. In combination with the shampoo, it leaves your hair smooth, soft, tangle free and shiny for days. So much that I think it's almost over nourished to the point it's oily! Great for super dry hair. Will repurchase in the winter time when my hair is much drier. Love it!

Polishes -Australis - Nail Polish (ALL)

I bought this in Aqua and Blackmail. for about $13-$15NZD.

Aqua is exactly the colour it says it is. Nice blue with green shimmer. Leans to blue more than green though. I needed 2 coats to get a nice colour and there was no streaking whatsoever. I had this for about 2 years before the formula dried out and I threw it out.

Blackmail is a nice shiny black. Simple as that. Again, I required 2 coats for a nice smooth shiny finish.

I didn't love the brush as much as I did with my Rimmel lasting finish ones but it wasn't the worst. Colour range was decent but didn't have the ones I wanted. Won't be repurchasing as I found Rimmel to have a better colour range and smoother formula at a slightly cheaper price.

Polishes -Sally Hansen - Beige Blast

Cons: - First coat is sheer - Streaky on the first coat - Formula dries out too quickly - Needs about 3-4 coats until colour is the same as bottle - The 3rd and 4th coat literally takes an hour to dry, if not more. - Chips after a week

Pros: - Lovely off white shade after 3-4 coats. - No streaks after 3-4 coats - First coat dries very quickly - Brush is nice to use

Cons outweigh the pros although I really like the colour. Will not be purchasing due to the cons.

Concealers -The Body Shop - Concealer (Crayon Correcteur)
rated 2 of 5

I bought this to cover spots/acne/redness and under eye circles. It covered spots and acne but looked very obvious and cake-y due to the thickness of the formula. It did cover redness alright but made my combination skin oiler. It did not work as an under eye concealer as it was too thick and tugged at the delicate skin. I continued to use it for redness and only that. Would not repurchase as it's pricey and did not give me the results I wanted.

Mascara -Australis - Mega Lash Mascara
rated 3 of 5

I bought this in black for about $17NZD at Farmers a few years back. I was pretty new to mascaras then and due to the cheap price, didn't expect much. I was surprised that it was able to coat my short stubby lashes and make them a lot thicker and dramatic. It didn't hold a curl very well though. Length was decent but that wasn't what it was promising. I wore this for about 9 hours and by the 5th hour it had started to flake. Only a little bit of smudging on my oily lids. Overall, I was happy with the results but wouldn't repurchase as I'm not a big mascara fan anymore.

Eye Shadow -Australis - Intensifeye Wet/Dry Eyeshadow Quad (ALL)
rated 2 of 5
joeccentric 5/31/2012 6:15:00 AM

I bought this quad in true blue (pics up) for my prom/ball a few years back since I wanted something cheap since I'd never use blue eyeshadow again. It retailed for about $18NZD at Farmers. I found that when using it dry, you needed a lot of product for the true colour to show through. It was not overly pigmented. When wet it was a lot better and the colour was amazing. It was hard to blend the colours together though so left your lids with harsh colour lines. Took a lot of effort to blend and work it on my lids. The colour range was nice and it was relatively cheap which is why I gave it two stars. I wouldn't repurchase however.

Lip Treatments -Maybelline - Baby Lips lip balm
rated 5 of 5
joeccentric 5/29/2012 8:12:00 PM

I bought this in the original non-coloured version in anti-oxidant berry. I can say that I am very impressed with it. I have tried almost all of the cheaper branded lip balms and can say that this is my absolute favourite. It moisturises very well and actually smoothes out the fine lines in your lips. It is not gooey or super sticky but instead, creamy and sinks in a bit which I love. Lasting power is average but all lip balms are like that. I only have to reapply two to three times in a day though. I am on my second tube, this time in smoothing cherry flavour. Will definitely repurchase when I run out.

Shampoo -Clairol - Herbal Essences Hello Hydration Moisturizing Shampoo
rated 2 of 5
joeccentric 5/29/2012 12:57:00 AM

My hair is normal but gets oily after the second day so I wash it every night. The ends of my hair are very dry due to it being cut very little. I really love this conditioner and shampoo set as it really hydrates my hair. I lather the shampoo up and rinse out then repeat. It seems to work better if I repeat. The conditioner is hydrating enough for the top of my head but I use a different conditioner (garnier fructis nutri-repair triple nourishment) when the tips of my hair are feeling extremely dry. The smell of this is amazing and lasts for about half a day for me. It hydrates well enough but not for extremely dry hair, so 1 lippie off. Overall, I like it enough to repurchase.

EDIT: After using a whole bottle I found that my hair had started falling out in places, and it was still tangled, if not more at my tips which I am not liking. I removed 2 lippies and will not repurchase anymore. Sticking to my tried and tested Garnier products. Disappointed with this.

Mascara -Estee Lauder - Double Wear Zero Smudge Lengthening Mascara
rated 4 of 5
joeccentric 5/28/2012 6:44:00 AM

I have the short stubby Asian lashes but when I curl them and use this mascara, it lengthens heaps without being overly dramatic. It does what it promises and does not clump and smudge. Clumping only happens when I leave a coat to dry before applying another. I do like a bit of volume as my lashes are sparse, but I can't expect that from this. It does what is says and I am satisfied with the results.

Lips -Estee Lauder - Pure Color Lipstick- Black Wine
rated 5 of 5
joeccentric 5/28/2012 6:19:00 AM

I got this in a lip pallet as a GWP and love it. Wore it to my high school graduation (pic up) and got tonnes of compliments. I applied it with a lip brush for precision results.

Pros: - Smooth and easy to apply - Perfect strong deeper red - Minimal bleeding (after 4 hours, it starts to bleed) - Lasts long (fades in the middle of lips and corners after 7 hours) - Not drying

Cons: - Price is hefty (I'm a poor student D:) - Will need lip liner if you intend to wear it for a while.

Would definitely repurchase if it wasn't as expensive.

Lipstick -Estee Lauder - Pure Color Lipstick- Rose Tea
rated 3 of 5
joeccentric 5/28/2012 6:10:00 AM

I'm feeling pretty neutral about this lip colour. I have medium-fair Asian skin tone and it did look good on me but not my favourite of this line. It gave my complexion a little brightening up. As for long lasting, it did alright, up until you had to eat. After that it pretty much disappeared which I wasn't too surprised about. If you didn't eat, the fading was minimal and bleeding wasn't a problem without lip liner. I apply it with a lip brush and the colour was smooth and easy to apply. Overall, it is a nice brown red colour but not one I would reach for again.

Cleansers -Clean & Clear - Blackhead Clearing Cleanser
rated 1 of 5
joeccentric 5/28/2012 6:02:00 AM

I really wanted this product to work for me, but sadly, it did not. The beads were far too large and although they felt like they were scrubbing my skin, they did not remove any blackheads. It left my skin feeling very greasy, like it had a greasy film over it. I had to wash my face again with another cleanser. Usually, I use up the product even if I don't particularly like it but this has been sitting half used on my drawer for over a year. It really shows how much I don't like it and how it doesn't work as advertised.

Concealers -Unlisted Brand - Thin Lizzy Concealer Creme
rated 4 of 5
joeccentric 5/28/2012 5:57:00 AM

Originally I wanted this as an under eye concealer, but found that it was a little too thick and cake-y for that. However, it covered uneven skin, spots, acne and redness very well! I have fair-ish Asian skin which has yellow tones to it and bought this in Oriental Doll. The colour matched perfectly for me. It looks natural, blends well and you only need a small amount to cover spots. Make sure that the spot you are covering is moisturised otherwise it will look cake-y and uneven, otherwise, I do love it.

EDIT: I found that for best results, squeeze the product on the back of your hand and dab it on the area and pat down until blended instead of rubbing it in. Much more coverage and a more natural finish.

Cleansers -Garnier - Pure 3 in 1 Wash-Scrub-Mask
rated 5 of 5
joeccentric 5/28/2012 5:52:00 AM

I've tried many of the cheaper branded face washes/scrubs and this really stood out for me. For $11 NZD, I am very happy with the results. I have oily acne-prone skin around my t-zone but dry skin elsewhere. I find that it does not dry out my dry skin but removes the oil from my t-zone. After the first week of using it, I noticed that my t-zone was a lot less oily and my complexion was brighter and more even. The redness around my nose even started to fade a bit. I was quite surprised by that. As a wash/scrub I find it to be very gentle and not too harsh. The beads aren't as harsh as people here have been saying they are. They are MUCH less harsh than the St. Ives scrubs I've tried (which I hated!). I had been previously using a Garnier pure daily deep pore wash which seemed to only be sold in my country and I swore by it. I wanted to buy a mask, and instead found this. As a mask, I found it amazing. The tingly after feeling was refreshing and left my skin smooth for almost the whole day. It was quick and easy to use. You only need a small amount and a small layer on your face for it to work. Overall, I am very pleased with this product and would re-purchase over and over. -------------------------- EDIT: The REAL test of this product came when I decided to use it on my back/shoulders/neck chest as I have very bad acne there and am too afraid to wear pretty clothing. I loved it on my face and really wanted my body acne to disappear so thought I might as well try it as it's both skin after all. I used it as I would on my face and within a week, my acne was much less inflamed, smaller and no fresh bumps were popping up. I've had this problem for many years and until now, haven't found a solution. Definite A++ from me. Love it!
