Liquid -MAC - Face and Body Foundation

SHADE: For reference, i wear Bobbi Brown Stick foundation in 5.5 Warm Honey, which matches me pretty well but oxidises redder. NC45 SFF in MAC is orange/red, NC42 is too light. If self-matched, i'm probably NC44. The MAC mua matched me to C7 in this, which looked forest green (no kidding) when pumped out but once warmed up went orange on the skin, and oxidised darker. She kept insisting this was the perfect colour: "you look tanner and glowing!!" Honestly, i'm already tan. Is it so difficult to understand that i just want a foundation that matches my skintone? C7 after oxidisation looks like a sheerer version of NC45, like really sheer. A friend commented when i applied a small patch to my arm: "It looks like a bruise" C6 looked olive brown (not as green as C7) when pumped out but went yellow-brown on my skin (applied with fingers). It looked slightly off at first, but after oxidation seemed to match my skin. I say "seemed" because the colour is so sheer that it didnt look that different from my actual skintone. Tiny tiny bit lighter maybe? I honestly couldnt tell, even after taking photos. C5 looked a rich yellow when pumped out, and went the same yellow on my skin (applied with fingers). After a while, it looked slightly whiter compared to my actual skintone, but the difference wasnt very visible because like i said earlier, the colour is very sheer. COVERAGE: Sheer. Honestly it covers nothing. Gives you a tint maybe on the first layer. I was told you could let it dry and apply more layers to build coverage but i don't have time given this thing takes AGES to dry. TEXTURE: This is supposed to be water-based (fantastic!) .... except it feels like oil =/ And looks like oil on the skin. Takes ages to dry, and even then doesnt matte out. You can still see this oily sheen (not dewy!) PHOTOGRAPHY: Takes photos beautifully i have to admit. No white cast at all, given the sheer coverage, and the oiliness actually translates onto the camera as a glow. It is a real pity i don't look like that in reality. The oiliness also cancels out any shade difference from the actual skintone...because the line of demarcation is shiny! lol. LASTING POWER: Fades in hours. Maybe if you set this with powder, might last longer. But that defeats the purpose of wearing F&B i feel. PRICE: S$63, equivalent to US$48. For the amount of product you're getting, i think its alright.

Fragrances -Clean - Shower Fresh Clear Radiance Body Mist
rated 4 of 5
jodhika1 8/15/2012 7:20:00 AM

This is a fragranced body mist that smells heavily chemical-ish at first when you spray on (i freaked out, i admit), but mellows down to a slight clothes detergent-y note after a while. I have it on now for about 9 hours and my hands still smell... ever so slightly detergent-y(in a good way!). I mist it over skin and rub it in slightly before it dries. The price point is pretty affordable. I bought it off strawberrynet for SGD14.50, equivalent to about US$11 for 125ml. I don't think the salicyclic/glycolic acid strength is high enough to do anything positive for the skin though. I'm giving it a 4 for the sheer value for money. Get this if you want a cheap, basic body mist that people won't get a whiff off unless they stand like really close to you =)

Hair Color -Unlisted Brand - Liese Bubble Hair Colour Ash Brown
rated 3 of 5
jodhika1 5/8/2012 6:07:00 AM

I bought this for SGD 16 on a Robinsons Sale here in Singapore thinking it'd probably be interesting to try. Its pretty fun to do i must admit. There are two solutions which you mix a bit and foam comes out, you massage it into your hair and leave it on for 20-30 mins. The foam was cool. Lathering it into my hair was too. The end-results, unfortunately weren't. I bought this in Ash Brown. However what i got in the end was a reddish brown. No ash at all. Pretty disappointed. But i loved the application method. The traditional box dye application method is frankly off-putting. The ammonia smell is way stronger in that one. And the application is messy. The bubble foam method is the way to go, so kudos to Kao for creating it. No mess. The reddish tones are probably due to my hair. I might try a purple shampoo to try and get rid of it. Will see how it goes. But its not a bad product, just as long as you like a bit of red in your hair i think it'd be fine.

Concealers -Laura Mercier - Secret Camouflage
rated 1 of 5
jodhika1 4/1/2012 4:35:00 AM

Disgusting. Laura Mercier just launched in Singapore in Sephora and i was so excited to try this. What a disappointment! Forget the colour range, the texture is like HARD clay. I am NOT going to use this anywhere near my under-eye area!! And the testers were brand new mind you. As for the colours, there is no colour that is yellow enough AND rich enough to match my skintone. The darker colours tend to be orangey. Price was 40+++ sing dollars, obviously way higher than the US price. For that markup, the quality is horrible, sorry.

Blush -NYX - Pecan
rated 2 of 5
jodhika1 12/23/2011 1:01:00 PM

Skintone: NC43/44, Bobbi Brown Foundation Stick in Warm Honey . This is a muted dull bronze with more red in it than gold. And with a truckload of glitter. Not as glittery as say Terracotta, but still bad. I tried using this as bronzer, but the glitter ruined it, and when i took a photo a realised it was so darn red compared to my yellow undertoned face. O-k pigmentation, though not fantastic. When rubbed off like crazy with a finger, it left behind a reddish-brown tint. . I have to admit i was disappointed with this. Its too red for me and too glittery to use as a bronzer, and too dark for me to use as a blush as well. . As for price, this is the cheapest you can go and its great coz i can buy different shades to try and see what looks nice on my skin, esp since i'm a noob to blush and am still scared of packing on the colour (for fear of clown blush). I bought 6 actually, which i will review as well. . The quilted pattern is cute, but the compact itself doesnt open easily i find. Not a huge problem i guess. Would i buy this again? Nah.

Blush -NYX - Copper

Skintone: NC43/44, Bobbi Brown Foundation Stick in Warm Honey . This is a burnt golden orange with glitter in it. Like the colour, hate the glitter. Fantastic pigmentation though. Would never put this on my cheeks. I use it as an eyeshadow. Make sure you wear a primer underneath, or it will crease and disappear, like most other NYX shimmery(lets call a spade a spade, ok? Its glittery, not shimmery) blushes. When rubbed off with a finger, it left behind a pale orange tint. . I'll give it a pass. Not that impressed

Blush -NYX - Terracotta

Skintone: NC43/44, Bobbi Brown Foundation Stick in Warm Honey . Ok i hate the multicoloured glitter in this. Seriously i looked like a discoball when i wore it. Its a light pink-gold...sort of like a watered down, filled with chockfull of glitter version of Rubenesque paintpot. I love the colour, hate the glitter. I use this as an eyeshadow. Awesome! Just make sure you use a primer under this, or it will crease and dissappear. Decent pigmentation though. . Blush -NYX - Sand
rated 4 of 5
jodhika1 12/23/2011 12:41:00 PM

Skintone: NC43/44, Bobbi Brown Foundation Stick in Warm Honey . This is a muted gold with heavy gold glitter, is powdery like hell, but not chalky. Has decent pigmentation. Goes incredibly well with the heavy heavy yellow undertones in my skin. I use it as a highlighter for my skintone, or layer it with NYX Cinnamon, which is a matte pastel orange to get the prettiest earthy orange gold with a sheen, and doing so also masks some of the heavy glitter in it, which is GREAT! . Doesnt last that much, leaves behind a yellowish tint, which goes well with my skin so its not bad. . Blush -NYX - Desert Rose
rated 4 of 5
jodhika1 12/23/2011 12:28:00 PM

Skintone: NC43/44, Bobbi Brown Foundation stick Warm Honey . Damn this is a super pigmented matte deep maroonish pink. So pigmented that my ELF complexion brush, which is known for picking up and depositing very little product, applies it decent just on the first swipe. No kidding. If I apply it sheerly, it comes off as a pink. I usually mix this with NYX Cinnamon to get a muted pink, which looks much better in my opinion than applying Desert rose or Cinnamon by their own. When rubbed off like crazy with a finger, it leaves behind a decent flush of pink. Nice. . Blush -NYX - Cinnamon
rated 3 of 5
jodhika1 12/23/2011 12:15:00 PM

Skintone: NC43/44, Bobbi Brown Foundation Stick in Warm Honey . This comes out as a matte pastel orange when swatched on my skin, not very chalky, but also not very pigmented. I'm new to blush and this looks ok on my heavy yellow undertone skin. I usually mix this with NYX Sand , which is a shimmery gold to get a more earthy(less pastel or pointblank orange) orange gold with shimmer, which gives me a burnished look. I use this alone if i want a more neutral, matte, not too out-there look. Hmm. Its a basic blush, which i'm not that impressed with to warrant a re-purchase, even if its dirt cheap.

Makeup Brushes -MAC - 194 concealer brush
rated 1 of 5
jodhika1 12/18/2011 1:52:00 AM

Bad. Just bad. Waste of money. You cannot, and should not apply concealer with this product on your undereye area. You will damage it. The brush is stiff, spiky, and pokes the area of skin you apply it on. It hurts, i'm honest. I then tried using this for spot concealing. But now, i don't have spots to cover. So i tried using this as a lip brush. It still pokes the lip area, but hey atleast i've found a use for it. Though i have to admit, i use this to apply lip color about once in a blue moon.

Makeup Brushes -Paula's Choice - Soft Blending Brush
rated 3 of 5
jodhika1 12/18/2011 1:48:00 AM

This brush is HUGE. You can't do crease work with this if you have hooded, deep-set eyes with not a lot of eyespace like mine. I used this for concealer instead, and its fluffiness made the job easy. The brush is a lil bit scratchy though, for the delicate undereye area. Now i prefer applying concealer with my fingers, and then use this to apply powder on top to set the concealer instead. It would also work for applying a light wash of shadow all over the lid.

Lip Treatments -Soap and Glory - Sexy Mother Pucker™ XL Extreme-Plump Collagen Lip Shine
rated 4 of 5
jodhika1 12/18/2011 1:32:00 AM

A lip plumper that works! It fills in the ridges of your lips and makes them fuller. The tingling effect is pretty strong when you first use it, but after a while you get used to it. The texture is kind of gritty, sticky, but trust me this product works. After plumping, your lips seriously come to life. It leaves behind a clear, glossy look on your now-plumped lips. As for staying power, i have to admit it wears off in a couple hours. Bear in mind that the above mentioned only apply when you put this on CLEAN, BARE lips. If you layer this on top of any other product, the effect is almost zero. It just looks like you have gloss on. Minimal plumping. The first layer of product stops this from working. One lippie off for this reason. I guess this was meant to be more of an instant "treatment" than a gloss. The price was fantasic! for its quality, the price was just right.

Tinted Moisturizer -Smashbox - Sheer Focus Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15
rated 1 of 5
jodhika1 12/17/2011 4:04:00 AM

I bought this for 50 sing dollars i think, from sephora. and i didnt buy 1 mind you, i bought 2. yes, very very stupid. but i was new to makeup. and sephora just opened in singapore, so i was excited and wasted a 100 bucks, which till thsi day i deeply regret. None of their shades fit me. The SA suggested gettign two colours and mixing them together, and me being a makeup noob dutifully accepted the advice and shelled out the moolah. I bought this in shades Medium(too dark) and Fair(far too light) to mix. The shade Light wasnt available in Singapore. For reference i'm probably an NC43/44 in MAC, and i wear Bobbi Brown stick foundation in Warm Honey, which matches me pretty well. This line runs pink. I have heavy yellow undertones to my skin(I'm indian). You can imagine the result. Bad Bad oxidation made my face look red/burnt. The texture is weird, the smell even more. And it transfers in hot, humid Singapore. Sigh. So i gave up and gave my mum the shade fair. It was slightly lighter than her skintone, but unfortunately, the pinkness clashed once again with the yellowness in my mum's skintone. So now both rot in my drawer. 100 bucks down the drain. Never will i buy a smashbox face product again. Overpriced bullshit.
