Treatments (Eye) -Garnier - BB Cream Miracle Skin Perfector Eye Roll-On (Light)
jmmcd 5/4/2013 5:10:00 AM
This was totally not too dark for me. I can see it being too dark for someone with very light ivory skin, but beyond that, it's likely to work with anyone that has a "light to medium" skin tone, especially since it relies more on light reflective tech than it does on pigmentation. Does a great job at de-puffing my eyes in the morning and concealing dark circles. I have been using it for about a month now and have seen a noticeable difference in the severity of my dark circles, which is more than I can say for most treatments on the market. Then again I couple this with a vitamin E/vitamin B5 treatment at night... so that may be why I'm seeing improvements over others.

BB Cream -Garnier - BB Cream Miracle Skin Perfector - Light/Medium
jmmcd 5/4/2013 5:03:00 AM
I don't really know why this is getting such low reviews except for the Asian BB cream craze. Personally, I can't use them... considering I'm multi-racial and it's hard enough to find a match for my light olive complexion among American makeup products. But I also am more of a tinted moisturizer fan than I am a foundation fan, and I find many BB creams on the market are just too heavy to be comfortable for me. The Garnier BB cream has turned out to be a perfect fit for me - it's lightweight and soaks right in to my skin like a moisturizer, but leaves behind fine light reflecting pigment that makes a noticeable difference in my complexion, leaving it smoother and brighter and minimizing pores... this alone makes such an improvement that the lack of coverage isn't missed at all. If I need coverage that badly, I have concealer for that. But with this cream, even if I'm in a rush (single mommy, it happens a lot) I can just use this as my normal morning skin care regimen (moisturizer) and go... knowing that I STILL look a lot better than I would without "makeup"... but it doesn't feel like makeup at all... I don't feel it on my face at all. The SPF is a bonus... I don't need a heavy SPF... and the titanium and zinc ones tend to make me break out... so the oxy in this is perfect for me. And FYI, the SPF factor does not mean ANYTHING in regards to how well a product protects your skin from the sun. It translates in to how many HOURS it will protect you. SPF 15 is good enough for most people unless you plan on being under a sun lamp overnight or something. Some people have such lily white skin that they need a higher SPF, but that isn't the case for most people. There really should NOT be so many negatives being given for this being only SPF 15. MOST makeup products are only SPF 15 anyways.... As a moisturizer, I must say this is excellent. It hasn't agitated my skin or caused breakouts, and it balances my skin well enough that I'm pretty much at the same oil content at the end of the day as I was at the start (i.e. no oil slicks around my T zone). It's actually improved my skin texture over time by minimizing pores, smoothing fine lines, and generally brightening my complexion. I even look good without it now. :) And it's done wonders for my neck, which was suffering from years of neglect (it wasn't until my mid-twenties that I figured out I needed to be treating my neck along with my face). It may not pack the MOST skin beneficial ingredients, but it certainly does pack the important ones... like vitamin C for example, which can help reverse skin damage. While it may be lacking for those 40+, I can definitely see it being a good fit for the 20-30+ crowd. BTW, I'm turning 30 this year, and I look like I'm still in my teens. I've taken VERY good care of my skin through tons of self education from my early teens on up. Don't fall in to the hype and just go for products that list the most "natural" ingredients or some BS like that. Actually learn what those ingredients do... how they affect your skin... so when you shop for a new product, you can read the ingredient list and have a good idea of what that product is actually capable of (and also know what ingredients to steer clear of). A BB cream isn't meant to be some sort of miracle whip. It's just meant to make your makeup routine a little simpler. Your REAL skin treatment should be coming in to play at night while you sleep, ANYWAYS, since that's when your skin actually replenishes itself. BTW, CVS recently released their own version of this BB cream which I must say is quite good. I got it BOGO or something like that plus $2 instant coupons on ea. so I almost got them for free. If I remember correctly, the normal price is $10, so it's quite a good deal in comparison to Garnier's retail price.

BB Cream -Revlon - Photoready BB Cream SPF 30
jmmcd 5/4/2013 4:17:00 AM
Not my idea of what an American BB cream should be. Too oily and thick... goes on more like makeup than it does a moisturizer. Doesn't moisturize very well, either, and leaves behind a horrible, shiny finish that makes you look like you've been sweating all day. Also, the ingredients tend to encourage acne breakouts. Bought this BOGO, and still feel like it was a waste of money....

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express The Falsies

I just got this mascara today and paired with a lengthening mascara I love it! It gives tons of volume and is very buildable. The trick though to avoiding clumps is using a lash comb.

Mascara -L'Oreal - Voluminous False Fiber Lashes
jmmcd 4/30/2012 9:45:00 PM
By itself this is a pretty "meh" mascara. It doesn't volumize as much as it lengthens and it gets clumpy if you try to build with it. I tried pairing this with The Falsies Volum Express though and all I can say is WOW it's really like I've got false lashes! My lashes are so long and thick they look unnatural. And you CAN build with this mascara, just make sure to comb it well afterwards to get the clumps out and don't build as much with it as you would a regular mascara.

Eyeliner -E.L.F. - Waterproof Eyeliner Pen

I like the fact this eyeliner stays in place despite its price. However, I do think it could be more heavily pigmented, and the pen is quite flimsy.

Mascara -Wet 'n' Wild - Mega Plump Mascara

I don't understand why this product got so many bad reviews. I've found it does volumize my lashes, and without clumping, flaking, or smearing. You have to build up the volume though - I do it by moving the brush in a zig zag pattern over my lashes.

Lipstick -E.L.F. - Lipstick in "Nostalgic"
jmmcd 4/18/2012 6:09:00 AM
I needed a good nude lipstick, and this fit the bill. I like how moisturizing these lipsticks are, but I'm a little disappointed by the color payoff. Still not bad for $1 though!

Eye Shadow -E.L.F. - 144-Piece Ultimate Eyeshadow Palette
jmmcd 4/18/2012 5:58:00 AM
I love this palette! It's got a fantastic selection of colors and there's a good balance between shimmers, semi-shimmers, and mattes. All of the bright and dark colors are very heavily pigmented. Unfortunately though the lighter colors are not well pigmented, which is why I gave this product four stars instead of five.

Eye Primer -E.L.F. - Eyelid Primer
jmmcd 4/18/2012 5:52:00 AM
I hate, hate, HATE this eyelid primer. I expected to get great results from reading all the great reviews on it. But the bottle barely has any product in it and what product is there doesn't work. At first I thought it was the new eyeshadow's fault but after trying my eyeshadow wet (which normally works no matter what) and watching it repeatedly flake off I realized it was the primer that was bogus, not the eyeshadow. Since then I've went back to using the all over cover stick as a primer. It does a much better job!

Lipstick -E.L.F. - Lipstick

I love these lipsticks! They are slightly moisturizing and well pigmented with beautiful shades. Like someone else said I also like how the packaging lets you see the tube of lipstick inside.

Lipstick -New York Color - Ultra Last Lip Wear - Snowcone
jmmcd 4/20/2011 5:38:00 AM
This is a nice frosty pink that looks good on me. It lasts a bit longer than regular lip stick but isn't the longest lasting color I've worn. It's slightly moisturizing which is a pleasant surprise for a long lasting lip color. I will rebuy! :)

Lipstick -New York Color - Ultra Last Lip Wear in Fragile Pink 409B

I really love how natural looking this shade is on my lips. It is a nice pale pink with a little bit of shimmer. It lasts longer than normal lipstick but isn't the longest lasting lipstick I've used. It is slightly moisturizing which is is a pleasant surprise in a long lasting lipstick. I will be purchasing it again. :)

Foundations -Hard Candy - Just Face It - One Step Foundation
jmmcd 4/20/2011 5:32:00 AM
I love this stuff! It's extremely lightweight and minimizes the amount of work I have to do in the morning since it makes a good primer, a good foundation, a good concealer, and an ok powder. It also stays on all day long and is one of the best foundations I've used for that. I definitely will be purchasing it again! The only downside is it only comes in four shades. I got lucky - medium matches my skin tone perfectly.
