Palettes -E.L.F. - Essential Beauty Book Eye Sets
rated 3 of 5
jltful89 2/17/2013 11:26:00 AM

I got the smoky set. Comes with 6 shadows, a small bottle of primer, a doubled ended applicator and an eyeliner pencil. 4 matte shades- apricot ( very sheer, disappears against my skintone), plum (chose the palette mainly for this color),dark brown and black( don't apply smoothly, I use them over gel liner. 2 shimmery shades- silver (again sheer),gunmetal gray (sounds more exciting than it looks). The applicator is useless. The eyeliner pencil is really soft, good for smoky looks but bad for oily lids and rainy days. For $5 the palette contains a lot of product but quality could have been better.

Very useful. I have used it for concealing, applying eyeshadows and touchups. Can be used with liquid, cream and powder product. The bristles are a little stiff which is good for concealing.

Makeup Brushes -E.L.F. - Blending Brush

Horrible! The brush came with a crooked handle. There was shedding the moment it touched any surface. Had to wipe all my eye makeup off and redo everything because there was so much hair on my eyelids. Argh!

Makeup Brushes -Sephora - Double-Ended Every Day Eye Brush
rated 4 of 5
jltful89 2/17/2013 10:53:00 AM

Ok brush that's good for everyday use. One end for applying shadow the other end for smudging and that's pretty much it.The smudging? smudge? end can be used gor lining the eyes. The bristles are pretty soft and there hasn't been any shedding even after numerous washings. Not the most affordable brush for the function nor quality but still a decent product.

Mascara -FairyDrops - Volume Burst Mascara Waterproof
rated 2 of 5
jltful89 11/29/2012 11:38:00 AM

I thought the brush was really unique but the formula was not very consistent. The formula was wet on some parts of the brush but there's always a glob of drier mascara on the tip. I have used it without the fairydrops mascara base, I have also tried it with MJ mascara base.I didn't see a difference in volume though it did lengthen.(It's supposed to be volumizing?) However, the mascara didn't hold curl well. My lashes tend to droop after 2-3 hours. There was a lot of flaking. The mascara is quite expensive here and I have only found it in 2 drugstores so far. I think prices online are also rather high.

Mascara -Shiseido - Majolica Majorca Mascara Base
rated 4 of 5
jltful89 11/29/2012 11:23:00 AM

It's the mascara base for all the MJ mascaras. All the older MJ mascaras (i.e except Lash King) that I have tried need this as a base to work well. You know when you have too much of a good thing it becomes a bad thing? True for this product. I have to keep telling myself to "use sparingly" but it's just too tempting when I see my lashes getting longer and having a nicer curl with every application!! With two coats I get a lovely curl that lasts for 6 hours or so and double eyelids(= strong formula).more than two coats, I will get strange white tips on my lashes and balls of stuff? That looks like dried glue. Not a pretty sight, definitely not a pretty experience too when I try to comb through my lashes. Now I literally see why greed is a sin.

Lip Treatments -Burt's Bees - Pink Grapefruit Refreshing Lip Balm

Good for slightly dry lips. Can see some flaking when my lips are too dry. Nice scent but that's subjective. A tad pricey for a lip balm.

Cleansers -Unlisted Brand - NARUKO - Narcissus Total Defense Makeup Removing Mousse
rated 1 of 5
jltful89 11/29/2012 10:22:00 AM

I am so unhappy with this product :( It is not effective at all. The instructions on the bottle says to use 3 pumps for the entire face. I got a fairly thick mousse and massaged for 30 seconds or so. Looked clean, felt too clean, eek, hate the tight uncomfortable feel. One lippie (lippy?) gone. I then applied my toner with a cotton pad and discovered that my foundation was more afraid of the toner than the remover. Yuck. Makeup removing session again. Ratings go down again. I experienced stinging around the nose and cheek area. I think the essential oils in it don't agree with my skin. A weird thing is there's both instructions on how to use it for removing eye makeup, as well as, a note of caution to avoid using the product on the eye area. Confused? So am I. Personally, I would say not to use it on the eye. Some of the stuff got into my eye when I was rinsing it off. Ouch!! Relaxing, stress relieving product it is not. Anything good to say? Well, if it had worked, it would have been pretty affordable. Drugstore price, a lot of product...hmm but it didn't.

Cleansers -Bioderma - Sensibio H2O (aka Crealine H20 Solution micellaire)

I am using a water- based makeup remover? Wow! This is absolutely amazing. This is an effective yet gentle remover. It is a non-rinse formula. It removes all my makeup including waterproof mascaras. No rubbing required, just soak a cotton pad and place it on the eyes/ face. Glad to see my mascara flaking off when it should. Gave it a less than perfect rating because the price caused a raise- my- eyebrow moment. The full- sized bottle costs slightly more than my makeup remover oil and regular makeup remover combined. Besides, it's only available in a few stores here. As for repurchasing, I'd say it's yes for function, no for price and availability. Which makes it a maybe.

Eye Makeup Remover -Shiseido - Aqualabel deep clear oil cleansing
rated 5 of 5
jltful89 11/25/2012 3:08:00 AM

Yes it says "oil cleansing" on the bottle not " cleansing oil". This is the cleansing oil that I'm referring to in my reviews for mascaras. Very effective for removing Kiss Me and MJ mascaras. I put one pump on a cotton pad and place that on my eye for about 20 seconds, that takes off most of my eye makeup. For removing mascara, I run a brush over the cotton pad along my lash line and that will dislodge all the mascara. The cleansing oil needs to be emulsified to be cleaned off, so I usually wipe with damp cotton pads to make sure that the eye area is completely clean. The cleansing oil is supposed to work for all waterproof makeup. However, I tend not to use it for removing face makeup. I find the emulsifying part too troublesome and if not done correctly, leaves a sticky residue on the face. I would rather use a remover that just requires rinsing. There's a strong rose fragrance typical of all the products in the aqualabel line. I'm using it just as an eye makeup remover so it has lasted a long time, definitely more then 6 months. Can't remember the actual price but it's cheaper than the hada labo one.and since it has lasted for such a long time, i think it's great value for money.Definitely going to repurchase.

Mascara -Kiss Me - HEROINE MAKE long and curl mascara (black)
rated 4 of 5

Can't complete my makeup without this. I have had a few friends who went out to get it after asking me what mascara I was wearing. (Can't stop smiling) The brush is slightly different from the usual brush. The bristles are dense and I find that useful for applying mascara on the tiny lashes.I have some scarring on my eyelids which sort of divides my lashes into two layers, if that makes any sense to you. Usually I don't get good results when using a brush applicator. But this one works nicely. The formula is very dry, I have to make sure that I curl my lashes well beforehand. I think two layers are enough most of the time. Also I have to be real quick, like check for any clumps and comb through them before the mascara dries.Once the mascara is dry, it's quite impossible to do that. It's budge proof- waterproof, smudge proof, standard -grade -makeup- removers -proof too. Best to use a makeup remover oil to get it off.

Mascara -Shiseido - Majolica Majorca Lash King Mascara
rated 4 of 5
jltful89 11/23/2012 11:09:00 AM

Cute packaging Dense wand Fibers!! All the things I like in a mascara! The effect is typical of most MJ mascaras curl locking ( yup that's what the Japanese call it) and lengthens like I wish my height would... I have this in brown. The color is warm and my lashes appear almost red in some lightings. Not the shade I would have preferred but it's one of the less reddish ones around. Can't see a difference in volume and it's a challenge to layer because it dries really fast. I find that swiping straight up the lashes works better than wriggling the comb through the lashes. May need to comb if you apply a tad too much. Being stingy works better for once My steps are as follows: 1. Apply 2. Comb 3. Admire :)

Brows -Kanebo - KATE designing eyebrow N
rated 4 of 5
jltful89 11/23/2012 10:52:00 AM

Very Japanese in terms of colors and product design. Product comes in a sleek and small compact, it's about the length of my thumb when closed. This tiny gem contains a mirror, a double sided brush( one side for drawing, the other for blending) and three shades of brown eyebrow powder. The browns are slightly yellowy, think of the hair colors that Japanese girls like to sport. Wouldn't recommend it for warn- brown hair. Can also double as a contouring product for the nose and eye area.

It doesn't really work as an eye primer. Nice nice and handy to have in the bag for correcting mistakes and for touch ups. Product wise.. Not impressed
