Gels/Soaps -Aveeno - Stress Relief Body Wash

this soap has A LOT of fragrance added to it, and it smells a little bit like laundry detergent, but i still love it. it's an affordable way to permeate the bathroom with a pretty scent (which lingers for hours after a shower) and the soap seems moisturizing and lathers very well.

Moisturizers -Origins - Balanced Diet

i received this as a gift, i wasn't in the market for face lotion that doesn't have an spf rating. this stuff smells and feels like sticky, runny glue. i prefer moisturizers that make my face feel soft but this leaves it looking shiny and slightly tacky to the touch. i do admire the green glass bottle design, and it doesn't make my skin break out at all.

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Parfums Delrae- Amoureuse

it's a very pretty scent. i think it's extremely flowery and wonderful. from previous reviews, people mention that it's supposed to smell like san francisco box trees. the "apple box" trees in san francisco are basically eucalyptus trees, and they smell fantastic after it rains, like the sweetest eucalyptus in the world. sometimes the trees also smell very much like cat pee. fortunately amoureuse doesn't smell like eucalyptus or cat pee. don't know where that box tree comparison came from....

i was so excited to get a sample of this because i thought i liked it from a previous store spritz. however, now that i can wear it whenever i want, it turns out that it makes me nauseous! it's a hard scent to describe. it's fruity, sour, woodsy, tropical and intense. seems like a lot of strong and conflicting notes fighting for attention on my wrist and it just turns my stomach. thank god i didn't get a bottle.

Fragrances -Etro - Royal Pavillion

The beautiful opening 30 minutes of this honeysuckle/gardenia scent is simple enough to get someone to associate fresh flowers with your presence. However, I don't care for the generic sharp, perfumey drydown.

Fragrances -Caron - Muguet du Bonheur EDT
rated 3 of 5

This is a terrific scent, but I don't care for it as a perfume. It's extremely clean, fresh and has a "I just stepped out of the shower and used half the soap bar scrubbing myself" quality to it. I like the fact that the jasmine note evokes memories of going to a tropical beach on a perfect sunny afternoon right after taking a refreshing shower. This fragrance is a bit weak and doesn't last long, or maybe it's just the specific light and delicate quality of lily of the valley. I can practically dump a tbs of this on and i have to put my wrist right up to my nose to be able to smell it.

Fragrances -Creed - Fleur de The Rose Bulgare

i fail to detect pure roses here, unfortunately. it's cold but strong and oppressive. in color metaphor i perceive this as pale, washed out pastel notes slashed with glaring neons and sodium lights.

Fragrances -Etro - Messe De Minuit
rated 2 of 5

1st 10 minutes it smells like Bigelow's Orange Spice Herbal Tea. Next 10 minutes it smells like your grandma's closet full of old polyester suits from the 60s (a previous reviewer mentioned Consignment shop and I agree) After that, it turns too dusty and moldy and gets cloying. The staying power is pretty good. I really appreciate it's originality. Besides the initial orange pomander (christmas) manifestation, for me it doesn't have any relationship to midnight mass? most churches i've been to don't stink so bad!

Fragrances -Creed - Angelique Encens [DISCONTINUED]

Lovely! I like this scent, but it is SO powdery. Very pretty rich amber, flowery vanilla powder. It is smooth and soft like Bellodgia, but with a main focus on amber.

Fragrances -Diptyque - Opone
rated 5 of 5
jlea 1/26/2006 1:28:00 AM

Opone is gorgeous; well balanced, spicy, wood and rose that warmly wraps your body like a shawl. I like that someone mentioned Out of Africa below. I also think Opone evokes The Sheltering Sky because it's dark, daring, and exotic.

This perfume wears me instead of the other way around. To me it's an alcoholic floral fogged over by a relentless scent of cigarette smoke.

I don't own this but I've sampled it quite a few times. It's sweet and wet and a fairly conventional , but realistic floral bouquet.

Gels/Soaps -Dr. Bronner's - Peppermint Castille Soap
rated 5 of 5
jlea 12/29/2005 1:37:00 AM

This is one rare product that I would truly miss if it was discontinued. I adore the feel of the strong tingling of peppermint oil on my body in the shower/bath. It doesn't dry my flesh out, even though the Dr. suggests we use this stuff to clean out the oven in addition to taking off mascara!? I don't find it to be as harsh as other reviewers; it's made from organic ingredients now! The spiritual diatribe on the bottle seems to have been inspired by the sacred green leaf... quite entertaining. Thank You, dear Dr. Bronner!

Lotions/ Creams -Crabtree & Evelyn - Goatmilk Hand Therapy
rated 4 of 5
jlea 12/29/2005 1:16:00 AM

This lotion makes the skin on my hands/fingers feel very soft and healthy. The lotion evenly spreads across my skin and absorbs quickly, making it a treat to apply. I love the key that comes with the bottle to help get every last light and nourishing dollop! The reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the smell for me is not great. It smells a bit sour and too neutral for my taste. As if there is too little fragrance to cover up the chemicals in the ingredients? I used to enjoy the Crabtree and Evelyn goatmilk and honey bubble bath in the aluminum bottle because for me it smelled heavenly. This smells nothing like that line, unfortunately.

Conditioner -TRESemme - Vitamin E Moisture Rich Conditioner
rated 4 of 5
jlea 12/29/2005 1:08:00 AM

My impressions of this product are similar to countrygrls' review. For the price and quantity, I have no complaints! My hair is doing very well, the conditioner makes me happy in the shower. It's strong enough to bond to my hair and eliminate tangles and it doesn't smell like teenagers.
