Polishes -Butter London - Jelly Collection
jldroz 7/28/2010 1:40:00 PM
I ordered this in Twee and just sent it back as a return yesterday. As a polish overall, this is a great polish. It applied smooth and even, I didnt have any streaking issues with any of the 3 coats I applied. Chipping I cant really comment on because I was wearing acrylics at the time and nothing chips off those. Color was ok. As the company says, it is made to be worn sheer or buildable. I started with one coat but wasnt a fan, so I applied 2 and then a third. The final result on my nail with 3 coats was opaque - the nail was barely visible. Shine - this is a polish that does not require a top coat. Even after all 3 coats were dry my nails looked wet and shiny. But it didnt give off the 'jelly' like image I thought it would. It just looked like a regular nail color. Overall I was disappointed with the color - there was nothing great or special about it which is why I returned it. But I would buy butterLondon again if there was a color I truly wanted. I gave it a 4 for: price - $14.99 and there are no retailers in my area, which means ordering it. I ordered mine from beauty.com and the total was $21. handle of brush - tiny and not easy to hold. didnt create a problem for application, just uncomfortable to hold. http://beautygirlinaworld.wordpress.com

Polishes -OPI - Mad as a Hatter [DISCONTINUED]
jldroz 7/19/2010 1:59:00 PM
This was my first OPI nail color so I wont judge wear since this is a glitter and they tend to be a big old chip fest anyway. Application - this is my first OPI but I loved the application. It was a bit thick (because of the glitter consistency) but still applied nicely. The brush feels like the Mercdes Benz of brushes. Color - sparkle sparkle sparkle and just what I wanted. In two coats my nail was covered, in 3 you couldnt see a drop of nail. I've never acheived that with another glitter. And sparkle! My nails were so blingy that no extra jewelry was required (besides my wedding bands). Wear - this is where we run into problems. This started to chip the next day - but I didnt use a base coat (waiting for a new bottle of sticky base). Also, because there is so much glitter, that even with a top coat the edges had some rough area and i think my hair kept getting stuck and cause the chipping. So I had to touch it up frequently but it was worth it. I cant wait to try it with the sticky base. Removal - not as bad as everyone made it sound. Took a bit longer than a typical polish but wasnt overly difficult. I think I used 3 cotton balls to do it and then 1 just for good measure. Overall I just love the color. Was worth all the trouble I went through to get it. Would purchase OPI in the future just for the application alone. http://beautygirlinaworld.wordpress.com

Polishes -Sinful - Nail Polish (all colors)
jldroz 7/19/2010 1:52:00 PM
I bought this in Fiji - a beautiful royal purple color. I do my own pedicures and I usually get a good 2 weeks from a pedicure (regardless of brand). I also dont use a basecoat on my toes - never did so I cant chalk it up to that. I used two thin coats of this along with my usual pedi top coat (NYC Super Shiny) and it started chipping off after 5 days (after 3 days I noticed tip wear at the edge). Now while that might sound like a long time, I'm just used to my pedicures lasting longer. I havent even tried this on my nails and doubt I will - just dont have the energy for the touch up maintenance. I put that I wouldnt buy this again, but if there is a unique/trendy color I want and they have a dupe I might cave - just because its only $1.99. I ordered some new sticky basecoat - maybe that might work with this and thats just what it needs. I'll update after I try and maybe I'll feel different. http://beautygirlinaworld.wordpress.com Edited - I returned this color to Walgreens and did not get another. No matter how much I touched it up it just kept chipping. Maybe would buy again.

Hair -Unlisted Brand - Silk Elements Luxury Moisturizing Conditioner
jldroz 7/13/2010 4:57:00 PM
Ill start by saying I only picked this up at Sally's because they had sample packets at the counter for .99. The sales lady told me it is great as a conditioner and then gave me the advice of using it as a mask by applying, wrapping my hair in a hot towel and then saran wrap over that. I havent tried it as a treatment yet (and I will), but as a regular post-shampoo conditioner it stinks. This product had me on a roller coaster of opinions. First, it didnt feel like it was covering the hair very well as I was applying it and I was disappointed - the lady made it sound great! But as I rinsed it I couldnt get over how soft my hair was! I had never felt it so soft before. And then my comb cut through my hair like a knife through soft butter - this never happens either. I was hopeful that I found my HG. HOWEVER! Once I started blow drying my hair it became a mess. Thick, kinda tangly, and when my hair was dry it was crunchy feeling. I will say that my hair did shine better than it has in a while, but I did not like the dry crunchy texture and it made for many tangles during my day. When I washed my hair the next day my hair was amazingly soft in the shower but exceptionally crunchy after washing with my normal shampoo conditioner. Overall I wouldnt buy this again as a post-shampoo conditioner. but I will try it as a treatment and see if I have better luck. Happy I only spent .99 on 2 packets. http://beautygirlinaworld.wordpress.com

Blush -Victoria's Secret - Beauty Rush Cheek & Lip Tint
jldroz 7/13/2010 4:43:00 PM
I bought this in the cherry red color. I gave it a four just because of the packaging. I was looking for a dupe to Nars Multiple Tint. I havent tried the Nars product so I cant compare, but the VS product is what I would expect from a tint. The color is very sheer and buildable - I build it up to a nice sheer red and it gives me a great glow without being pink. It lasts through a full day (including a class at the gym) and does not become shiny/greasy looking (considering it is a gel based product). The smell is great too - best smelling blush I've ever used. Havent used this on my lips so cant comment there. The packaging stinks - its like a mini tube of deoderant. The shape is odd, so you cant just swipe it on. I use my fingers to build up the color and it blends the color nicely. I would definitley buy this again just for the color alone. I beleive when I bought this there was a special $2 for $10 or something like that but they are normally priced around $7, which is average for a blush. http://beautygirlinaworld.com/wordpress.com

Styling Products -Unlisted Brand - Proclaim Olive Spray-On Glosser
jldroz 6/23/2010 10:04:00 AM
I bought this because my hair has been looking a bit dull lately and figured this might help a bit by adding some shine. I read some reviews and most were good so I figured why not (my hair tends to be limp on top so I was concerned about this making it worse). I used it as directed, held it away from my hair and spritzed a few sprays on the body of my hair (nowhere near the roots) and it did nothing but make my hair crispy (hard to beleive an oil based product could do that, but it did). I brushed it through with my fingers and all that did was make my hair piecy and kind of dirty looking - not any shinier. It didnt make my hair limp, I will say that, but I didnt like the effect it had on my hair - it just looked dirty (and no, it wasnt - both times I used this were after a shampoo/condition blow dry/flat iron). So its been about 2 weeks and I will be returning this on my lunch to Sally. The price isnt bad, I'd say its average at $7.49 (not cheap) but other than the first two times I used it its been sitting in my closet. My search for a hair glosser/defrizzer resumes... http://beautygirlinaworld.wordpress.com/

Eye Shadow -Sally Girl - Sally Girl Eye Shadow Connecting Compacts
jldroz 6/17/2010 11:04:00 AM
I already wrote a review for White Chocolate under that specific color, but figure I'll write a review for the general product and update as I use the colors (since I own so many). Orange Crush - When I hear orange crush I think of the orange soda. However, in the pan this looks more apricot than orange. On the eyelid it is a beautiful apricot (I dont use any base - this was just on plain skin) - really brightening. Blends really well into my fair/medium yellow undertone skin. As with the others, it doesnt crease or run (and I use no base remember) and lasts thru a full day (including a gym workout). The color shows up really well - I've used apricot colors in the past where it barely shows up. Cranberry - I havent used this on my lid yet, only as a crease color with Orange Crush and it works beautifully. I have MAC eyeshadow in Cranberry and this isnt as deep and has no shimmer to it (I find the MAC Cranberry has a bit of shimmer to it). Will update as I use more colors (have about 8 of them so far to work through). http://beautygirlinaworld.wordpress.com/

Lip Treatments -Beauticontrol - Lip Apeel
jldroz 6/16/2010 3:39:00 PM
I'll start by saying I didnt purchase this. My sister-in-law sells BeautiControl and gave this to me to try (which is why I gave price a 1 - I dont know how much this sells for). Ive never used a lip peel or lip mask but love this product. I put it on after my shower and leave on while I put my contacts/moisturizer on (dries very quick) and then rub most of it off with my finger. There is some product left that doesnt dry but its minimal and I just use a towel. When I take the peel off my lips look softer, healthier, lighter, and just overall nice. I put the balm on and it sinks in while I finish getting ready for work. Balm leaves a nice sheen too. Not sticky or gooey or too think (which is what I was expecting from the feel of it). Overall I love using this product - I do see a difference in my lips when I use it a few times a week versus when its been a week in between uses. I'm not sure of pricing, but because I like it so much I would buy it anyway. You get so much in the container and really dont need that much so you do get a long life out of it (I've had it since May and have barely dented it using it 2-3 times a week). http://beautygirlinaworld.wordpress.com/

Lip Gloss -Avon - Glazewear Shine in Darling Pink
jldroz 6/16/2010 1:58:00 PM
I've been using this product for a while and have yet to review... This is by far one of my favorite lip glosses I've used (I've used MAC Lipglass, an estee lauder gloss, drugstore brands, and so many others I cant begin to name them all). Its definitley a moisturizing gloss and does not go on gloppy or sticky - I use it like I would use a lip balm. The color is sooo pretty. It looks like its going to be this extremely bright pink, but it gives my lips the nices flush of pink (and I am not a dark or bright lip person). It is the only pink lipgloss I have owned (because pink is hard for me to wear) and probably wouldnt switch. The only reason I give it a 4, is because I dont think the wear time is that great. I am constantly sipping something to drink - coffee, water, diet coke - and find I am reapplying often. But then again I am lip-obsessed and tend to reapply often, regardless of the product (sometimes I think its an OCD thing) so it could just be me, too. http://beautygirlinaworld.wordpress.com/

Blush -Cover Girl - Cheekers Blush in Natural Shimmer
jldroz 6/16/2010 9:59:00 AM
Ill first say its not that I wouldnt buy a cheekers blush again, I wouldnt buy this shade again. I own other cheekers shades and have no complaints about the blush - it provides great color, lasts, and is affordable. In the pan this looks like a light peach/nude color (definitly not peachy pink - which is what I was trying to avoid) and I was looking for a light peach blush. However, once I started applying it I saw absolutely no color on my face. It did leave a bit of shimmer (maybe thats why its called natural shimmer) and made my skin look slightly lit up, but I woudlnt even go as far as to call it a highlighter. Overall it was a big fail. I'm contemplating returning it and getting Hard Candy's baked blush in Honeymoon Peach. http://beautygirlinaworld.wordpress.com/

Lips -Avon - Beyond Color Plumping Lip Conditioner
jldroz 6/14/2010 12:02:00 PM
I am a big lip junkie - mostly balms, conditioners, glosses, but very few lipsticks. This is a great conditioner/moisturizer. It lasts for hours and I do notice an impovement in the condition of my lips when I'm using (as for the plumping, I'm not sure, as my lips are fairly full and since I'm under 30 I have not started to experience thinning). It also leaves a sheer pink color on your lips, which is nice, since I'm not a big fan of color. For the price (usually around $6 but is commonly on sale with other items) I think its great. Moisturizes, conditions, lasts, and gives sheer color. Out of the lip balms I've purchased, this one would be number one (compared to a Burts Bees, Carmex, even vs. the Bobbi Brown tinted lip balm for $18). http://beautygirlinaworld.wordpress.com/

Lips -Bobbi Brown - Tinted Lip Balm
jldroz 6/14/2010 11:56:00 AM
The color I purchased is Bronzed Pink. Normally, I would not spend $18 on a lip balm - honestly, it is not any more moisturizing than a drugstore brand. However! I was looking for a certain color and this was the only brand I could find that had the color I was looking for. I'm not sure why they call it Bronzed Pink - there is no pink to this - it is a mostly bronze/brown shade (which is what I wanted). It is not greasy or gloppy or sticky - it applies very nicely and smoothly. But so do a lot of cheaper brands I've used (Burts Bees, Carmex). It is moisturizing - I've had it on for about 3 hours now and the color is still good and my lips are still soft. Overall I think its a great lip balm, but for the price, I dont know. I would buy again if I needed a specific color only. $18 is way too much for a lip balm http://beautygirlinaworld.wordpress.com/

Lotions/ Creams -Avon - Moisture Therapy Hand Cream
jldroz 6/14/2010 11:49:00 AM
I have extremely dry skin and wash my hands I dont even know how many times a day. This hand cream is one of the moist moisturizing I have used without being greasy. A little goes a long way with this. And at first, it feels thick and almost sticky and you think 'yuck, this is horrible' but as you massage it in, it absorbs into a smooth satin finish with absolutley no greasiness. And no, your not rubbing forever - a few seconds. Also, its is a protectant of sorts, because even after I wash my hands they still feel soft, almost as if the lotion created a protective barrier. I'll also say my cuticles look great. No tearing or peeling since I've been using this. The smell is mild as well, not overpowering. I would definitley buy this again. http://beautygirlinaworld.wordpress.com/

Moisturizers -Equate - beauty lotion
jldroz 6/11/2010 2:14:00 PM
I've been using this for about 2 months now and have not had 1 problem. Regarding shine - I've used Clinique Dramatically Different lotion and it made my forehead so shiny you could see yourself in it. This, however, does not make me shiny (even after the hair-dryer). At the end of the day I look just as good as I did in the morning. Moisturizing - and sinks in nicely. My skin looks 100% better after I use this, no matter how tired I am. You only need a small amount so you really get your money's worth here. The bottle is a good size bottle too. http://beautygirlinaworld.wordpress.com/ UPDATE - I checked my bottle and it is for 'sensitive skin', which explains why there is almost no smell to it (a lot of reviews seem to complain about the smell). There is really no scent to this - just a mild lotion smell. As for breakouts, my skin doesnt break out, but i do get the occasional pimple. If anything, since using this I have seen a reduction in the already small number of pimples I get. I will keep buying this, as it is a great product at a great price. I've never used Olay, so I cant compare, but I dont see a reason to even test it out.

Cleansers -L'Oreal - Go 360 Clean Deep Cream Cleanser
jldroz 6/11/2010 10:59:00 AM
I only bought this last night and used it once so far, so my review is very preliminary but very good. I will update after more use. I'll start by saying I dont have problem skin - my complexion is clear and I seldom get a blemish, I get the occasional pimple with my time of the month and sometimes if I lean on my hand too much while at my desk. But it is difficult in the sense that I have trouble controlling the oil in my t-zone without making my face look dry and sallow. For this reason, I tried the cream cleanser figuring it would be a bit more moisturizing. The formula works really well - my skin felt clean and tingly afterward and was moisturized and bright (not drying at all, but I also didnt feel like I had a film left on my face). The scrublet is awesome. Up until this morning I've always exfoliated with a washcloth in the shower. But then I always have a washcloth hanging around and never enough in my closet. So I figured I'd give the scrublet a shot - especially since it sits in the bottle and doesnt lay around the shower. My skin felt amazing both during and after. I think may have spent too much time in the shower because I was enjoying washing with the scrublet too much. The bristles are really soft and not harsh at all. You also dont need a lot of the wash - less than you do with a regular wash. It doesnt create a lot of suds (which is good) but a small dot goes a long way and so hopefully it extends the life of the product. So far so good on this product. But then again after a few days I may see some difference. I will say that even if I dont use the product again, I'd still use the scrublet. http://beautygirlinaworld.wordpress.com/
