Cleansers -Bioderma - Sensibio H2O (aka Crealine H20 Solution micellaire)
jlbre5 12/27/2012 4:41:00 AM
Combination skin. Nurse, need something that is easy and quick at when i'm tired/in a rush. I use two cotton pads with a small splash of product on each. Bought online for ~$30 for 500mls, can buy cheaper but SUPER expensive in Aus (~$30 for 200mls) Pros: Effective and quick, calming/comfortable on the skin, does not sting/burn/irritate, takes eye makeup off easily, looks like water Cons: Bottle needs a pump to help control amount, wont last more than a couple of months (use it once-twice a day), Lancome Bi-facil better at removing eye makeup VERDICT: HG status. Will buy this everytime, such a great great product and a staple in my skin care regime. Sweet relief! EDIT: I've been using this for about 4-5mnths and I'm only half way through the bottle. I use it with Embryolisse Lait Creme and Natio Toner. Works really well for those nights when I'm quick to bed or tired +++

Liquid -Revlon - ColorStay Makeup
jlbre5 12/27/2012 4:22:00 AM
*Normal/Dry skin formulation* I've been curious about this product for a while, but never really inspired to buy it. I ended up getting it on a whim because it was 30% off. Pros: Colour matched perfectly (Buff), cool toned, didnt dry out my skin nor did I have a greasy T-zone by the end of the day, long lasting. Cons: Smells like thinners, crap bottle (messy/no pump/cant control amount easily), requires a moderate amount to apply (will finish bottle quickly), streaky finish, difficult to get easy flawless finish TL;DR - Satin/matte finish with no luminosity, cheap/streaky/unflattering finish. If your not that into makeup (you wont be reading this anyway) and you just want a colour match that is longwear, then go for it. Make up lovers, if you're in two minds. Dont waste your money.

Lipstick -NYX - Black Label- Nude
jlbre5 11/17/2012 1:39:00 AM
From Australia and bought this Nude lipstick from NYX off crushcosmetics.com because its not sold locally. Its a very peach-nude lipsitck. Satin/creamy finish. I apply it lightly and blend it into the lip, therefore application without a mirror is unattainable. If applied with a heavy hand you'll have an obvious line look v.tacky. Its a moisturising formula but as any light lipstick, chapped lips will show up poorly. Pros: Nice colour, moisturising, CHEAP Cons: Bulky packaging, the lipstick name is on the lid rather than the bottom (accidentally took both Nude and India's lids off at the same time and forgot which was which), sickly sweet smell, cant apply without mirror

Liquid -Estee Lauder - Double Wear LIGHT Foundation SPF10
jlbre5 10/29/2012 4:39:00 AM
Bought this in Intensity 1.0 (Illamasqua 4, Clinique Alabaster, ?MAC NC15), new to using EL products. Bought from Harrods.com (alot cheaper than buying in-store from Australia). Apply with a flat-top foundation brush or blender. Satin medium coverage. I use this for work (nurse) Pros: Easy to apply, very long lasting/*slight* sheen on nose by end of day (normally v.greasy T-zone), doesnt feel heavy on face, buildable coverage w/out looking cakey, packaging means you can get every last drop out, doesnt break me out (irrelevant point, because everybody is different - but still a plus) Cons: Colour range minimal and very 'yellow', packaging means you cant put excess product back, it has SPF in it (might be a Pro for some). VERDICT: If I didnt have Illamasqua Skin Base, I would almost call this HG. I will buy this again! I want to try the original DW though

Blush -Sleek - Contour Kit
jlbre5 10/18/2012 10:27:00 PM
I have this in Light (Clinique Alabaster, MAC NC15). Bought online for ~$8AUD from sleek.com Pros: Matte finish contour, easy ++ to blend and natural finish, gives great definition, very pigmented, lovely case with mirror, highlighter not too 'shimmery/glittery' just the right mix Cons: --- VERDICT: Cant get over the great quality that Sleek offers with all of their products, Contour Kit is no exception. Will rebuy

Powder -Illamasqua - Pressed Powder
jlbre5 10/18/2012 10:14:00 PM
Have the translucent pressed powder - 010, its completely bright white powder. Cost $30AUD (Illamasqua has dropped their prices to reflect the international market). I use this on top of Skin Base and the Matt Primer. Pros: Sets make up without adding colour or coverage, nice sized pan for the price, no shimmer or 'light reflection' that you get with many translucent powders on the market, increases longevity and enhances the already beautiful finish of Skin Base, doesnt cake - at all Cons: The plastic container is a little on the tackier side (but if thats how they afford to drop the price - thats fine with me), over-application wont add coverage but will start to whiten your appearance. VERDICT: A really good buy, love that it simply sets the make-up and you know that when you put it on it isnt going to add anything (colour/coverage). Illamasqua must be doing something right with this product because it had a wait-list at my store in Australia. EDIT!!!! Sold this to my friend, made the pores on my nose look HUGE! And iv never had that problem before :(

jlbre5 10/17/2012 11:00:00 PM
From Australia, bought this online from the states and it was VERY cheap incl. shipping so so cheap (~$9AUD + $10 shipping). Saw the Pixiwoo girls using it, so felt pretty confident it would be a worthy buy - and it is!! Colours swatch true to photo on website. Ordering process was easy, but as per other reviews no tracking was available Pros: Very nice pretty colours, takes your from day-to-evening in one palette, minimal fall out, long wear (10hrs+ w high-end base), rich/pigmented, big mirror and great packaging, good mix of matte and shimmer. Cons: Dont buy if you have the Naturale palette, buy one or the other VERDICT: Will buy every time! Great, very useful palette. Such GREAT quality for so little money! Love it

Saw the Pixiwoo girls using it, so felt pretty confident it would be a worthy buy - and it is!! Colours swatch true to photo. VERDICT: Would buy again every time, soo cheap for such good quality. My normal motto is you get what you pay for, but Sleek you have beaten me - touche!

Primer/ Corrector -Illamasqua - Matt Primer
jlbre5 10/2/2012 3:42:00 AM
So far my favourite primer. No silicone, non-slick, non-greasy. I use it under Skin Base. Pros: Says Matt finish, but has a nice subtle sheen to it still. Makes make-up last ALL day. Smells lovely (vanilla), doesnt break me out. Great container that will allow you to use up all the product. Made in Germany. Cons: Its got the consistency of glu (-1 lippie) VERDICT: Love it, holding out the title of HG (just in case) but will definitely buy again

Lipstick -Clinique - Different Lipstick - Sweet Honey
jlbre5 10/2/2012 3:33:00 AM
This is my HG lipstick. Its very reliable, a real go-to in my handbag. It is the one lipstick that matches my lips perfectly and evens them out. Pros: VERY moisturising can be used straight onto chapped ugly lips and instantly makes them look perfect. Great little container and the silver makes it easy to find in the bottom of a handbag. I use this alot and its lasted a long time (read: months and months, one at the bottom of my bag has been there 2 years and its still applying beautifully). It looks like a really yuck dark colour but once applied its sheer and beautiful. Cons: If applied to heavily its too much for me... Verdict: HG for life.

Lipstick -MAC - Satin Lipstick - Myth
jlbre5 10/2/2012 3:25:00 AM
This is a very nude/concealer looking lipstick. Im pale, blonde, blue eyes and I love this on me it does suit my colouring really well, but I think that whether it suits you or not has nothing to do with colouring but more the tones. Pros: Great when you want your make up to focus on your eyes or another feature, great to use as a base to neutralise your lips to get the best benefit out of another lipstick colour. Cons: VERY VERY drying, need to be well moisturised and not have chapped lips. I always need a gloss over the top. Cant be applied without a mirror Verdict: I only really like it because the colour suits me really well, if I found a more creamy or moisturising product in the same colour I would buy that instead. Until then, Im stuck here with Myth

Liquid -Illamasqua - Skin Base foundation
jlbre5 10/1/2012 9:22:00 PM
The wait for me is over - HG foundation, FINALLY! I think its love and the marriage/forever kind. Not the Chanel Perfection Lumiere crush kind. I have pale-ish (MAC NC15-20, BB Sand, Chanel Beige 20), combo break-out prone skin. I have this in #4, use this with Illamasqua Matt Primer. Skin Base is actually a BB cream base, so great for all skin-types (allegedly) Pros: Long lasting coverage that goes slightly dewy in my greasy T-zone by the end of a work (nurse) day. Medium (very) buildable coverage. Finish is matte-slight luminousity. HD foundation, photographs beautifully. Bottle is plastic and therefore you'll be able to get out every drop. Illamasqua Australia has dropped their prices in-line with UK/Europe, $41 for a bottle and I can buy it in a store rather than online (YAY!). Bottle looks small but you still get 30mls - same as most other high-end foundations, and a little bit goes along way. BB cream that doesnt break me out Cons: .....*shrugs* Actually made in Thailand is a off-put VERDIT: HG for sure! LOVE LOVE LOVE!

Bronzers -Chanel - Soleil Tan de Chanel - Bronzing Makeup Base
jlbre5 8/31/2012 5:45:00 AM
Im fairly pale (BB Sand, Clinique Alabaster-Ivory, MAC NC15-20), with combo skin. I apply this cream bronzer with a RT powder brush or RT blush brush (tip: use a synthetic brush) Pros: Cream bronzer that dries to a luminous moisturised appearance that doesnt look greasy, looks flattering on paler skins, expensive but will LAST a long time, non-shimmery, container is *very* accessible. Cons: Difficult to learn how to apply at first Verdict: Really like this as an alternative to my HG Bobbi Brown bronzer, freshens my look up and great to contour. Will buy again

Concealers -Bourjois - Healthy Mix Correcting Concealer
jlbre5 8/31/2012 5:15:00 AM
Bought this concealer after hearing about it on Pixiwoo and Lisa Elridge. Im a pale to medium complexion (BB Sand, Clinique Alabastor-Ivory, MAC NC15-20) combo complexion, this concealer only comes in 3 shades and they are all very similar. I cant see how really dark/tanned girls could wear it without getting a reverse-panda look. I used to use RIMMEL Recover concealer (which i think its been discontinued). I've been looking for ages for a concealer and I'm pretty happy this is a substitute. Pros: Its a liquid concealer, blends very easily (using RT dome brush), very full coverage and could almost use alone without foundation, very affordable, dries to a powdery finish but still has some luminosity Cons: Only comes in three shades, squeeze tube container can end up with too much product and no way to put it back, unless your primer/moisturising base is good it may crease a little. Verdit = definitely buy again, not HG worthy but a very good little concealer for the price. As per other reviews, wont work for everybody but works well enough for me

Eye Shadow -MAC - Paint Pot in Painterly
jlbre5 8/27/2012 10:03:00 PM
I bought this after seeing it used on Pixiwoo. LOVE IT! Best buy in my entire make-up bag. I use it everyday to even my lid skin tone, on its own it looks amazing really lights up my eyes and also works beautifully as a primer for nights out. I read a few other reviews that said that you can use this on the rest of your face...which is true, if i havent got concealer at hand it works pretty well :D Like that it comes in a nifty litte pot, so you can sweep out every last drop. I will ALWAYS buy this product. ALWAYS!
