MAC is my daily go to eye shadow. The color selection is vast, the pigments are nicely concentrated, and the staying power is above average. Still on the lookout for my HG, but this will work fine until then :o)
Palettes -Sugar Cosmetics - Perfect 10 Palette - Eyes
jlawson12905 10/3/2008 5:12:00 PM
I bought this palette on a whim and was not impressed. The pigments are not concentrated enough for me and show up significantly lighter than they appear. The staying power is nothing to write home about and after only a month of sitting in my makeup case, several colors started to crumble and break. Would not purchase this brand of ES again.
I love this stuff! I have been using it for a few years as a daily concealer and special occasion foundation and it's the best I've found. I thinks it's a bit too heavy for a regular day time foundation, but when you want to look flawless Cinema Secrets will be your best friend!!!
Okay, so let me start by saying- I HATE pyramid scheme brands, Avon, Mary Kay, Pampered Chef, whatever... I am not trying to be mean, but I really hate them! Back to the MK Ultimate Mascara. I went for a MK "facial" as a favor for a friend which was my 1st mistake. By the time they were done with me I looked like a whore macerating as a clown; it was REALLY bad! My friend tried to convince me that the Ultimate Mascara was a great product and urged me to take a sampe tube. Well, it wasn't: This mascara was clumpy, too wet, and had no staying power!
I have only used sample tubes of Diorshow and would never buy. It is far from anything special and not at all worth the $$$.
Eye Primer -Urban Decay - Eyeshadow Primer Potion - Original (UDPP)

This stuff has been a staple in my makeup routine for about a year now and I can't imagine not using it. I have tried other lid primers and they don't work nearly as well. UDPP keeps eye shadow in place all day and even makes the color seem more concentrated. The packaging is super cute and you only need a tiny bit so it lasts forever. Great product!
I really, really wanted to love this stuff! After starting to use it once a day for a week I broke out, BAD(my skin is normally clear)... I kept up with it hoping that something else was making me breakout but it just kept getting worse so I stopped using it for a few weeks. My skin cleared up and I got brave and trid it again... next thing I know I am Super broken out again. I have learned my lesson and have sadly retired this product.
This has been my go to mascara for several years and I really like it. I do wish it had longer staying power, but it doesnt smudge or run for me, just kind of loses its ooompf by the end of the day. It gives me long, thick, dramatic lashes without clumps or spider legs very similar to Dior Show or YSL but better in my opinion.
Conditioner -Kiehls - Olive Fruit Oil Nourishing Conditioner
jlawson12905 8/5/2008 2:03:00 PM
I have been using this conditioner for a couple of years now and I LOVE it! I am obsessed with having shiny, soft hair and have tried tons of high end shampoos and conditioners and this is the best Ive found. It is really rich, but rinses out easily and leaves my hair baby soft and shiny. I'll never stop looking for the next best thing, but for now I am very happy with this stuff :)
Hair -Kiehls - Olive Fruit Oil Repairative Hair Pak
jlawson12905 8/5/2008 1:55:00 PM
I usually use the regular Olive Fruit Oil conditioner (which I love) and decided to go for the Repairative Hair Pak this time since spending the summer at the beach has dried out my hair. It is richer and leaves my hair super shiny and soft. My only gripe is that it doesn't smell as good as the conditioner... otherwise this is a great product which will stay a part of my hair care routine!
By far THE BEST sunscreen I have ever used. It's perfect for warm summer weather as it keeps me perfectly matte all day. Does not break me out or leave ugly purplish chalktness on my face like Clarins did... and you get a much larger bottle for about the same price!!!
Sunscreen -Clarins - UV PLUS Protective Day Screen SPF 40
jlawson12905 8/5/2008 12:00:00 PM
I used this sunscreen for about 2 years because it was the best that I could find although I never really liked it... more like tolerated it. It always left tiny bumps under my skin and gave me a night of the living dead chalky grey purplish look when worn without makeup. I also couldnt use it on my 10 year old son because it gave him a rash. Since then I discovered Shiseido Ultimate Sun Protection Lotion and will never look back! It is FAR superior to Clarins, you get way more for your $ and has none of the above mentioned "side effects".
Scrubs -Makeup Artist's Choice (MUAC) - Micro Polish Cream
jlawson12905 6/3/2008 5:48:00 PM
I LOVE this exfoliant!!! They were not kidding when they put "micro" in the title... The scrubbing stuff is so small that I can't feel it on my hands, but it feels amazingly effective on your face. It feels like it makes it's way into every pore leaving your skin super soft & clean. I bought a sample which lasted me a couple of months because you need very little (1/2 pea for whole face and neck) and the customer service is great. Couldn't be happier with this product or this company :) Thanks MUAC!
I was really excited when I got this sample from an online order, but was even happier that I never made the mistake of buying this once I tried it and found out how much I dislike "The Tubes" I usually use YSL Volume Effet or Benefit and hoped this would rival them in the dramatic yet soft lash look that they provide yet be longer lasting... Boy was I wrong!! Kiss Me Mascara went on way too wet & dried way too hard and the brush was horrible! I ended up looking like I had 3 giant lashes because this stuff made all my lashes clump together into CRAZY SPIDER LEG LASHES!!! YUCK! I would never ever buy this stuff, but I would consider slipping it on the desk of a girl I dont get along with at work if I ever get another free sample ;)
So like everything I buy, I really wanted to love this, but I though it was just OK. It does calm my skin and moisterize well enough, but when I apply it takes hours to sink in... I feel like it just sits on my face. It did not break me out, just dont like the way it feels on my skin.
