Styling Products -Living Proof - No Frizz Wave Shaping Curl Defining No Frizz Styling Spray for fine to medium hair
rated 2 of 5

I've only used this once so far, and I'm going to try again but so far it's a thumbs down for me. Left my hair dry and frizzy. I tried it on its own to see how I liked it, maybe if I layer it with something it will be better. Once my hair dried fully, I put a little Bb Brilliantine and that helped (as it is an HG product for me) and the curly volume was a plus but the texture bothered me. I wouldn't advise anyone buy this product without trying a sample if at all possible first (unless of course you buy it where you can return it). Also, I'm one to spend pretty much anything on a product that works, but like others have said, the bottle is so small and you have to use a lot to get it through all of your hair. I have a lot of fine, curly hair.

Cleansers -Purpose - Gentle Cleansing Wash
rated 5 of 5
jgalinski 6/20/2009 8:47:00 PM

My HG face cleanser. I have extremely oily, sensitive skin, and this cleans without irritating or stripping my skin. I only have to wash once which is rare with my greasy face. After using, my skin is soft and comfortable. When I wear makeup I use DHC cleansing oil because I break out from time to time and just want to make sure there is no makeup residue, but then I follow up with this. I have been using this daily for several years and have never had a problem. I am very sensitive to so many skin products, I don't know what I would do if I hadn't ever given this a try. This review is for the liquid version...the bar soap seems like an entirely different formulation altogether and does not agree with my skin (I brough some on vacation once).

Treatments -Moroccanoil - Morrocan Oil Treatment

I'm shocked at the reviews for this product-it did nothing for my hair, made it harder to dry and left it looking frizzy and fried. My hair is in very good condition and I could blowdry my hair in my sleep. I've tried more products than I like to admit to myself-I'm a product junkie that way so you can't say it's because I don't have much to compare it to. I'm holding onto my nightmare glass jar in case it is useful in summer humidity, but it's doubtful. Don't think you are using an all natural treatment (I know the ladies on this site are very savvy but I read a review implying the author thought it was a cone-free product)-it's full of cones.

Liquid -Bobbi Brown - Skin Foundation SPF 15
rated 4 of 5

What a great foundation to put in my rotation...I have oily, sensitive, fair skin, and am using the Warm Ivory. I'm a huge BB fan, and would say that this is a great everyday foundation for me 9 months out of the year. I don't think it will hold up in heavy summer heat on my skin (I don't like to wear more than a little powder in summer anyways), but you never know. Will report back on that this summer. Anyways, even though this is a moisturizing foundation, it lasts beautifully on my oily skin, and it completely evens out my skin tone. Looks great in broad daylight, definitely has a dewey finish, and absolutely does not irritate or get itchy on me. I still say her Smooth Skin Foundation is the way to go for a special occasion (just unreal staying power on oily skin) but the Smooth Skin is a bit trickier to apply. This I just apply with my fingers (some prefer to use a brush, but I find using a brush to apply foundation on oily skin just doesn't work) in about 15 seconds, and I hardly have to use any, just a tad more than one pump. Like all Bobbi foundations that I have tried, you really have to have a good canvas to put this on, make sure you have exfoliated and use the right moisturizer, but I do that anyways. It's been a long, cold, dry winter so far, and I'm using the Vitamin Enriched Face Base (I think it's called) and this works well with that. I'm wondering now though, I bet this looks fantastic in low lighting in the evening...I always say try to get a sample to try a foundation at home first, but if you can't, this is worth trying. UPDATE: I still love this foundation, it's a great everyday product for this stay at home mom, but like every other foundation I try (no matter the finish) I do have to blot throughout the day. I'm oily. It would be great if this foundation came in two formulations, one for dry/normal and one for oily/normal, but it doesn't and probably won't so oh well. I haven't found a matte foundation that performs like this one (and if you are reading this and have a solution for me, feel free to send me a note!).

Eye Shadow -Bobbi Brown - Long Wear Cream Eye Shadow in Cement
rated 5 of 5
jgalinski 12/30/2008 12:21:00 PM

What a great eye basic for those with very fair skin (what I have). It just kind of polishes your lid, goes on effortlessly and can be dressed up or down. It's a no brainer, especially if powder shadow tends to crease quickly on your lids, as it does on my oily skin!

Powder -Clinique - Almost Powder Makeup SPF 15
rated 4 of 5
jgalinski 4/29/2008 4:44:00 PM

This is a great everyday makeup for me. I had tried several mineral foundations, BE and Jane Iredale to name a few. My experience wasn't great. I hated BE and the JI was only mildly better. My problem was that my skin is oily, and after an hour or so, I was so greasy looking and if I touched my skin the makeup would come right off. I also didn't like the messy application, although I never tried the JI pressed. I know this isn't a true mineral foundation, but I can apply it quickly (stay at home mom of two young boys), no mess, evens out my skin tone and lasts pretty well. After four hours or so I have to blot, but I have to do that with every foundation and I have tried so many formulations in every price range. I'll stick with my BB Smooth Skin foundation when I need to feel perfect, or for an event, but for everyday, no fuss, this is great. Nice price too. Oh, and I have sensitive skin and this doesn't make me itch (pure mineral foundations do).

Lipstick -Bobbi Brown - Creamy Lip Color - Crystal Pink
rated 5 of 5
jgalinski 3/1/2008 9:23:00 AM

This is a new must-have, everyday lip color for me. I am very fair skinned, and prefer a natural finish on my lips...that said, this is a creamy, opaque peachy-brown pink. A paler nude pink. It is very moisturizing but still isn't sheer and lasts well. I'm excited to try some of the other Creamy Lip Color shades.

Bronzers -Clinique - True Bronze pressed powder bronzer - Sunkissed
rated 5 of 5
jgalinski 3/1/2008 9:18:00 AM

Finally! This is the BEST bronzer if you are very pale and want something in the dead of winter to warm you up a bit. It doesn't turn me orange, and it doesn't scream "She's wearing bronzer" from a mile away. It just looks natural, especially when applied with a good bronzing brush (ditch the one it comes with). I use the Laura Mercier Bronzing Brush. The shimmer looks scary in the pan, but when you apply it is barely there, which is how I like it. Almost imperceptible.

Bronzers -Laura Mercier - Matte Bronzer
rated 1 of 5
jgalinski 3/1/2008 9:15:00 AM

Terrible (I purchased this in Light). I'm throwing it away after a couple weeks. I was searching and searching for a bronzer that wouldn't appear orange or too dark on my very pale skin, and this didn't even show up at all! I use the Laura Mercier bronzer brush which I adore, and no matter what I do (and I experimented in all types of light) it did not show on my face at all. I finally found Clinique's True Bronze Pressed Powder Bronzer in Sunkissed and at half the price, it is exactly what I'm looking for.

Moisturizers -Clinique - Redness Solutions Daily Relief Moisture Cream
rated 2 of 5
jgalinski 2/24/2008 9:08:00 PM

This product replaced Clinique's CX Soothing Moisturizer-an HG product for my itchy, sensitive, red, combo skin. This moisturizer is no replacement for the CX Moisturizer. It's much too heavy (there are very few products on the market for sensitive/combo skin...my sensitive areas are pretty much in my t-zone, where my skin is oily) on my t-zone, and actually made the skin in betwen my nose and cheeks extremely itchy and uncomfortable. I don't like it at all. I'll use the rest of the jar on my neck and definitely would never repurchase. I gave this product a good try too...about two weeks (and right now it is dry dry dry and cold here, so if it was going to be beneficial, now would be the time). Also-if anyone reading this ever has any product rec's for the symptons I described-plz feel free to email me! Thanks!

Cleansers -DHC - Deep Cleansing Oil
rated 5 of 5
jgalinski 2/2/2008 6:18:00 PM

I only use this to take off makeup, so once, maybe sometimes twice a day. I always follow with a cleanser afterward, something mild. I have very sensitive skin and very few products don't irritate me, this is a HG product for me. One bottle lasts me about two months I think. using one pump each application. You can't travel with it, I keep the travel bottle for when I go away. It doesn't get in my eyes, and takes off all my eye makeup, but I don't wear anything waterproof. My skin is also oily and I don't break out from this, nor do I feel tight. Get a sample at least and try it, most will be happy they did.

Styling Products -Bumble & Bumble - Brilliantine
rated 5 of 5

I love it. Does what it says on the bottle. Doesn't build up. Nice packaging. A little goes a long way. Don't overdo it though! Rinses off hands with just water (I love this in the winter with my dry hands). Finishes a blow out on my curly hair perfectly.

This plus thickening spray will give you the best blow out for curly hair ever. Be careful and use it extremely sparingly...it works great. Locks in style, really gives a polished look and with the thickening spray helps fight the battle against humidity. Never ever builds up on my hair-Bb products rinse off of your hands with just water. It's a bathroom staple for me.

Shampoo -Bumble & Bumble - Gentle Shampoo
rated 5 of 5
jgalinski 2/2/2008 6:06:00 PM

Oh my gosh! I was shocked shocked shocked that I could use this on my sensitive, greasy scalp everyday! I have been using this for about two months to make sure I could tolerate it, and I have to say I really didn't think that based on the name alone, it would work. I have an oily scalp with frizz-prone, curly hair, which is a pain in the butt combo. But this cleans my scalp completely and allows me to wash my hair everyday without stripping it. Nice scent too, honey-chamomile? I'm bad with scents though, so don't go by me on that one, I seem to be diametrically opposed to every scent review on this website. Fantastic everyday shampoo and my hair is never flat from this. I follow with the matching conditioner, is it super rich? The one in the matching yellow packaging. Love it! Buy in bulk! Don't be afraid!

Fragrances -Kenzo - Amour by Kenzo

I'm so surprised that I seem to be in the minority on this one! I love it! Powdery and warm, yes, just beautiful and comforting in my opinion. I always get inundated with compliments when I wear it, from people who have kissed or hugged me in a greeting or farewell-I'm not the type to douse myself in a scent. This is probably my favorite I have ever tried, I really don't understand why others aren't enamoured as well! To each his own...
