Lipstick -MAC - Mehr (Mickey Contractor Collection)
jewels64 2/5/2013 11:30:00 AM
Mehr is a matte "dirty"-toned, medium pink that is a darker MLBB color. I don't find it noticeably drying on my lips, but it doesn't seem to feel quite as nice as some of the other recent mattes that MAC has come out with. I originally passed on this in favor of Yash when they were introduced as limited edition with the Mickey Contractor collection, but I later found myself really wanting Mehr, and finally got it when it became part of the permanent collection. Overall, Mehr is a nice lipstick that is a great addition to MAC's permanent line-up, and worth it at this price point, but I think I would have been disappointed if I had paid over-retail for it, or had I traded another highly-sought-after lipstick for it.

Concealers -MAC - Pro Longwear concealer
jewels64 2/5/2013 11:06:00 AM
This is my HG concealer for the undereye area. The more liquidy consistency of it makes it easy to apply, and non-cakey, while giving good coverage for dark undereye circles. I'm NC25-30 and use this in NW20. However, although the product itself warrants a 5-lippies rating from me, I am not a fan of the packaging. Though I appreciate the pump dispenser for hygienic reasons, as other reviewers have commented, it dispenses too much product and you can't really control the amount. I also dislike the glass bottle that it comes in - my first bottle of this shattered when I accidentally dropped it on a bathroom floor made of ceramic tile. But I did repurchase after that.

Blush -MAC - The Perfect Cheek
jewels64 10/4/2012 11:09:00 PM
This blush is aptly named The Perfect Cheek. It is a beautiful matte nude-pink that imparts a glowy, contour/blush combo on my NC25-30 cheekbones. It is perfect for work, and pulls together a smokey eye/nude lip look as well. It is probably my favorite MAC blush ever. I got this (along with a back-up) with the Makeup Art Cosmetics collection but it was repromoted with the Marilyn Monroe collection.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Smut Eyeshadow
jewels64 6/5/2012 1:45:00 PM
I have had Smut for awhile but it mostly sat unappreciated in a drawer until I depotted it and put it in a 15-pan palette. It is now one of my most loved MAC shades. It is a beautiful gray with hints of brownish and purplish tones that I wear on the lid for a simple smoky eye. I have since promoted it to a spot in my "go-to travel" quad along with Femme Fi, Satin Taupe, and Brun.

Polishes -OPI - A Good Man-darin is Hard to Find

Beautiful bright, opaque orange - with a hint of red - perfect for summer! I think this would look fabulous on all skintones.

Polishes -OPI - Charged Up Cherry
jewels64 3/4/2012 2:52:00 PM
I got a pedicure and wanted a bright corally pink to look forward to spring, along the lines of the bright pinkish lipsticks that MAC has put out recently. I really like it. It looks more reddish pink in the bottle but corally pink on my NC30 skin tone.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Overrich - Museum Bronze Pigment
jewels64 1/3/2012 2:11:00 PM
After refusing to purchase any MAC pigments in the new-style jars, I made an exception for Museum Bronze. In the couple of years since MAC changed the packaging of pigment jars from 7.5g to 4.5g, I boycotted pigments because of the decreased value and also because aesthetically I just did not like the look of the new-style jars. However, I got a sample of Museum Bronze and fell in love with it, and then decided to pick up a full jar of it at MAC Pro. Museum Bronze is a gorgeous rich, shimmery, golden bronzey-brown that works really well with my dark-brown eyes. However, decreased value and aesthetics aside, I have also found that the new-style jar is also clumsier to work with. I was lucky to recently swap for Museum Bronze in the old-style jar and I will be getting rid of my new-style jar. Note: When Museum Bronze originally came out with the Overrich collection, it was in the same style jar as the 7.5g pigments but only contained 4.3g of product. In the new-style jar, Museum Bronze only contains 3g/0.1oz. of product.

Lip Gloss -Chanel - Pink Teaser
jewels64 1/3/2012 1:50:00 PM
I bought this sight unseen because I love Nakkar glossimer and some of the reviews for Nakkar said that it was a redder version of Pink Teaser - and I now agree. Pink Teaser is a medium-bright mauvey-rose pink with gold and pink sparkles. Like Nakkar, it makes me happy to wear this. Even though I would probably say that Nakkar is slightly more beautiful overall, I wear Pink Teaser more often because I find it to be more versatile. I absolutely love it! Quite possibly my favorite lip gloss of all-time. NC30/Mat Lumiere 30 Cendre.

Lipstick -Revlon - Colorburst Lip Butter in Pink Truffle
jewels64 12/28/2011 8:31:00 PM
Pink Truffle is a medium pink-brown that could be a nice everyday color but I find it to be a little too brown to be anything more than mediocre on my pigmented lips and NC25/Photoready 004 skintone. I could see this being lovely on some people but it's not quite there for me personally. I like the formula and am looking forward to trying different colors - but I won't be re-purchasing this one.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Winterized mineralize eyeshadow
jewels64 12/16/2011 1:34:00 PM
MAC describes Winterized as a "Dirty purple with silver, indigo, and pink melange" which is pretty accurate. This was part of the Glitter & Ice collection. Winterized is pigmented enough to wear dry, but it is more intense and shimmery/frosty when applied wet. Based on the way the veining is in the one I got, and where I dip my brush, I can get either a greyish-purple color or a plummy-brown color - both very pretty. This also looks gorgeous over Let's Skate and Morning Frost paint pots from the same collection. This is the first MAC mineralize eyeshadow I have purchased since Ether (which I also love) from the 2007 Flashtronic collection. I've steered away from mineralize shadows because while they are pretty to look at, a lot have lacked in pigmentation and had poor payoff. I also didn't think they were worth the price, and none really stood out to me. But based on pictures of Winterized on blogs, I decided to order it online and I've been very pleased with it. If I come across these mineralize eyeshadows in person, I might even pick up a couple more from this collection.

Eye Shadow -TheBalm - Nude 'tude
jewels64 12/15/2011 6:09:00 PM
This eyeshadow palette comes with 12 eyeshadows and a shadow/liner brush. Overall, the shadows are very nice - pigmented and easy to blend. There are 4 matte shadows and 8 shimmery/frosty ones. I won't be using the shadow end of the brush but I might use the liner end, or I'll just replace the brush with an eyeliner. It retails for $36 but I got it on Black Friday from theBalm for $21.60, and it was recently on hautelook for even less at 50%. The palette has a large mirror that I'll actually use. Nude 'tude is inevitably compared to Urban Decay's Naked palette. I think there are about 4 shades that overlap but for me they are different enough to own both. Getting this palette did, however, help me resist getting Naked2 (at least for now). Serious is a matte black that is darker, more-pigmented than MAC Carbon. Sexy is a matte burgundy, similar to MAC Sketch. Sophisticated is a shimmery bronze-brown. This is similar to UD Darkhorse in the Naked palette. Selfish is a gorgeous, shimmery taupe. I thought for sure this would be my favorite shadow but it's only my second-favorite. Stubborn is peachy-pink. It might be similar to MAC Naked Lunch. Sassy is a frosty white. I don't have any white eyeshadows so I'm glad this is in here. Snobby is a shimmery yellow. I don't really like this one, it's probably my second-least favorite in the palette. I wish they had included a highlight color instead of this. Stand-offish is frosty pinkish color, similar to UD Sin in the Naked palette. Sultry is a matte medium tan-brown, similar to UD Buck in the Naked palette, but closer to MAC Cork. Schitzo is a frosty gold-brown, somewhat similar to UD Smog in the Naked palette. Silly is a glittery red-brown that looks gorgeous in the pan but has poor payoff and is somewhat chalky. It is my least favorite shadow in this palette. It reminds me of how MAC Beauty Marked is the same way (but they are not the same color). Sleek is a wonderfully pigmented matte dark brown that I love! This is my favorite shadow in this palette.

Eye Shadow -Chanel - Illusion D'Ombre - Illusoire
jewels64 12/5/2011 12:25:00 PM
Illusoire is absolutely stunning! I won't say that a $36 single eyeshadow is a "must-have," but I highly recommend Illusoire if you have dark brown eyes like I do. I wore it to work, (which I felt comfortable doing because it is shimmery rather than glittery), and one of my co-workers complimented me on it and even asked what brand it was. I applied it with my finger and then blended it with a brush. It can be built up to be pretty intense, which I will do when I wear it at night - the swatch on my finger was gorgeous. It has a spongey, souffle-like texture, and isn't really very creamy. I'm thinking about getting this in Epatant. I read somewhere that the model in the promo picture is wearing a combination of Illusoire and Epatant, and it looks amazing!

Lipstick -Revlon - Revlon Colorburst in Peach
jewels64 11/16/2011 8:40:00 PM
This is similar on me to MAC's Made to Order (LE), only more orangey and without noticeable sparkles. NC30. I bought this recently at Walgreen's for $4.59 - this was one of a couple shades on clearance - so they might be discontinuing it? I love the formula.

Lips -Shiseido - perfect rouge rd 305
jewels64 11/15/2011 7:33:00 PM
This is a nice red - with some pink - that can be worn in the daytime. It's flattering with my NC25-30 skin and dark brown eyes/hair. The shade is not too bright and not too dark. Formula is also not too drying. Not my favorite red but I do like it.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast Volume Waterproof
jewels64 11/13/2011 12:48:00 PM
This is my HG wp mascara - have repurchased many times. Waterproof and smudgeproof. Takes a little extra effort to take off but not too bad with Lancome BiFacil.
