Makeup Brushes -Lancome - Foundation Brush
rated 2 of 5

Cons - It seems like I need twice as much foundation as I did with my old/other foundation brushes - synthetic, NOT natural, bristles - expensive (but average for high end brushes) - I don't really see what the big deal is with this foundation brush & why it has gotten such glowing reviews on this site. Pros - Blends well Would I repurchase? NO.

Scrubs -Trilogy - Gentle Facial Exfoliant
rated 4 of 5
jessitanner 11/16/2012 11:24:00 PM

Pros - good ingredients. - Not harsh. I have sensitive, acne prone skin and this was not harsh on it. - It actually did the job I needed it for and that was to exfoliate and it did that without being harsh. The better your exfoliating technique and the more patience and rubbing it in a circular motion on your face you have/do, the better the outcome will be. The times when I felt it didnt exfoliate so great were usually the times when I was in a hurry and didnt take the time to exfoliate properly. Cons - none that I can think of atm Verdict: will repurchase, although I am always on the hunt for new products and exfoliators to try.

Moisturizers -Nuxe - Creme Fraiche de Beaute Light
rated 3 of 5
jessitanner 11/16/2012 11:19:00 PM

I was really excited to try this product given the high reviews it got on this website. I was looking for a moisturizer that would moisturize my dry, sensitive, acne-prone skin. Pros - Light weight Cons - didn't feel moisturizing, despite its claim for "24 hours soothing and moisturizing emulsion". And that to me is a huge con because I really need and want something that will moisturize my dry skin. BTW - I am using the winter-time, so it is even more important for it to be moisturizing now. When you first put it on your skin, it feels moisturizing, but then it mattifies and is not moisturizing. Bringing me to my second point: - Mattifies. Some people may see this as a pro (probably people with oily skin). It absolutely matifies, but I was not pleased with the outcome. - Minor point: the smell. While not a bad smell, it was one that I noticed from time to time and did not particulary enjoy. This is a very minor point that would not detract me from purchasing this product, had it worked and moisturized well, but alas, it did not. Verdict: will not be repurchasing again.

Liquid -Shu Uemura - Face Architect Smoothing Fluid Foundation
rated 3 of 5
jessitanner 8/19/2012 5:31:00 PM

My new HG foundation. I have had trouble finding a foundation that would match my NC/NW 20 skin. I loved Dior's Forever foundation, but the lightest color looked very orange on me. Resigned, I would time and time again revert to MUFE's HD foundation (#115), but was never quite in love with it. Shu's face architect combines the texture/feel/medium to full coverage that I loved in the aforementioned Dior with a color that suited my (I'm 365 in Face Architect). Previous foundations I've tried include Estee Lauder double wear, MUFE HD 115, MAC, Dior Forever, Dior Nude, Dior Airflash. And out of all of those Shu Uemura is my favorite. In terms of packaging, Face Architect is smaller than MUFE HD, but both contain 30ml of product. Tip - Buy this from the website rather than in Holt Renfrew or other department stores. I went to HR to find a color match and bought it there. But it's cheaper from Shu's website and you get free shipping on orders over $50. EDIT : I think I jumped the gun in my intial review, reviewing it after only a couple of days of use. After more use, I find this product to be very similar to Dior's Forever foundation (including the yellow underbase that tends to look somewhat orange on my pale face unless blended extremely well). One thing that I did not like about this foundation is that it seems to dry out my skin and makes it feel tight. That is the same thing that I did not like about EL's Double Wear. For those reasons, I will not be repurchasing this foundation and I have reduced the overall rating to 3/5 stars.

Treatments -Kerastase - Ciment Thermique
rated 2 of 5
jessitanner 8/19/2012 5:21:00 PM

I don't know why this has gotten such great reviews. I personally did not like it and would NOT repurchase. My hair type: fine, damaged ends, prone to frizziness and coarseness. Cons -- I did not see any significant improvement to my hair. It will look good when I use this product, but the next day or later in the same day, it will revert to its frizziness/coarseness. -- Expensive -- I find that I have to use a lot of the product to see a result at the end. -- I'm not a fan of the scent -- I make a point of it not to blow dry my hair very often, and this product is ideal for when you will be blow drying your hair. Hence, I do not use this product often and find that it just sits on my shelf unused.

Pros - cheap (relative to other ones I've tried) - Buildable coverage to cover undereye circles Cons - Packaging - gets dirty really easily, since you're always swiping your fingers against it. - Creases - Didnt find that it lasted very long - Very cakey looking more often than not - Too drying for undereye circles Would not repurchase

Use the German version!! It works great and is effective. Plus, it's cheap and lasts a really long time.

Bronzers -Guerlain - Spray bronzer
rated 4 of 5
jessitanner 7/15/2012 3:17:00 PM

Pros - Looks great, even on my very light skin. - Love the spray bottle dispensing method. Cons - Very expensive - Doesnt last a long time, if used regularly and often Verdict - The combination of the 2 cons mean that I do not buy this product very often, especially since there are many other great bronzers out there that last a lot longer. But I do recommend this product.

Treatments (Eye) -Revive - Eye Renewal Cream
rated 2 of 5
jessitanner 7/15/2012 3:14:00 PM

I've been trying this for about 4 nights. After the 4th night, I found it to be not as moisturizing and made my eyes look worse. I really wanted to love this product and may give it another go sometime soon. It didn't irritate my eyes, but I found that it accentuated whatever fine lines someone in their early 20s may have. It does go well under makeup too. For now, I'm still on the lookout for my HG eye-cream.

Liquid -Estee Lauder - Double Wear
rated 2 of 5
jessitanner 7/15/2012 3:10:00 PM

I was looking for an alternative foundation to my MUFE HD. I have a very fair skin tone and find that some of my favorite brands (Dior, Guerlain, & Chanel) do not carry foundations that match my skintone. Which is how I ended up with my MUFE HD - it offers a lot of color options. While MUFE HD does the job of a foundation well, I wouldn't label it my HG foundation, which is why I'm always on the lookout for different ones. The EL Double Wear: Pros - Lasts a long time - Color matches my very fair skintone (I'm the color "shell") Cons - VERY DRYING!!!!! That was and is my biggest concern and dislike when it comes to this foundation. I have very sensitive and somewhat dry skin and this foundation irritates it by the end of the day. - I also found that it did not blend as easily as my MUFE HD. As a result, it can be cakey sometimes if you do not blend it enough and well. In my experience, it required more blending than the MUFE HD. Verdict: Does not work well for my sensitive skin because it's too drying. Will NOT repurchase.

Eye Makeup Remover -Estee Lauder - Gentle Eye Makeup Remover
rated 1 of 5
jessitanner 7/15/2012 3:03:00 PM

It stung my eyes! I was expecting so much more from an EL product, but this is the WORST EL product I have ever used in my entire life. I cannot express enough how awful this eye makeup remover was. It didn't take off the makeup well at all and stung my eyes like nothing I'd ever used before. Out of all of the things you want out of an eye-makeup remover (to be gentle, to take off makeup, to work well, to not irritate skin), this product does not deliver on a single one. I would recommend people try Lancome eye makeup remover.

Eye Makeup Remover -Lancome - Bi-Facil Double Action Eye Make-up Remover
rated 4 of 5
jessitanner 7/15/2012 3:01:00 PM

This is the only Lancome product I buy. I'm not a fan of Lancome at all whatsoever, but I love this eye-makeup remover. It is gentle, non-irritating, and removes eye makeup well. All the things I want out of an eye-makeup removes. It is oily, but I just rinse it off with water and a gentle cleanser (Cetaphil) and it works fine. I find that the bottle lasts me about 2 - 2.5 months when used everyday, which is a good amount of time.

Treatments -Jurlique - Skin Balancing Face Oil
rated 3 of 5
jessitanner 7/15/2012 2:56:00 PM

Even though I said I would buy this product again, I am 50/50. I have sensitive, acne-prone skin and have been told not to put oils on my acne skin. This product neither improved nor made worse my acne. Pros - My skin did not have a harsh reaction to it - Found that it worked well, almost like a serum, before putting on my face cream - Lasts a long time, which can be attributed to.... - ....Great dispenser that allows only a small amount of the product to be put on the face. Even though the instructions said that about 3 drops would be fine for the entire face, I ended up using a LOT more than that. Probably about 8 drops. Cons - A bit expensive - Didn't really see any results. Didn't do anything, positive or negative towards improving my skin. - Was not as moisturizing as I thought it would be. But wasn't drying either.

Highlighters -Josie Maran Cosmetics - Argan Illuminizer
rated 4 of 5
jessitanner 7/15/2012 2:51:00 PM

Pros - Moisturizes more than any other illuminizer I've tried (MUFE and Nars) - It is NOT sparkly. Some illuminizers look like you washed your face in sparkles and glitter. This one has shimmer and the sparkles that are there are not very noticible. - Blends well, but be sure to blend! I find that using my fingers works just fine. - Works well on top of or in place of eyeshadow. Makes eyes pop. - Works with my very fair skintone. - This looks fabulous with bronzer and for achieving a bronzed look. The product is more GOLD than bronze, hence why the mix of bronzer and this looks great. This illuminzer reminds me of the bronzed Gods in the movie Immortals or Helen's look in the movie Troy. I love that golden tone. - Like the majority of illuminizers, makes your skin look healthy and moist, especially since foundations can be very drying on skin. Cons - You can't control how much product comes out because the dispenser dispenses way too much product. You only really need a little. But because it dispenses too much, you either end up using too much on your face or throwing out the rest. - It's a bit expensive, but it will last you a long time.
