Tinted Moisturizer -Boots - No7 Soft and Sheer Tinted Moisturiser
jess31570 8/27/2012 5:22:00 PM
Trying this out, new to tinted moisturizers, new to Boots. The Boots sales guy got me as I was walking around with Sonia Kashuk TM in my hands. I am liking it. If there was a maybe for 'buy again', I might have clicked that. Ideally I would like to have mattifier built in, but I don't think this product makes me look any more or less oily than anything else after 6 hours, and I've used Murad mattifier with UD De-Slick under this and under UD Naked Skin foundation. It does a great job of evening out and making skin look velvety but natural and fresh. I would use it for summer daytime / easy travel, but I would still need my oil blotting papers and mattifying pressed powder. The price is ok and can beat some drugstore BB's by a couple of bucks. I have the light and it blends into my medium-light tan ruddy skin very well.

Lipstick -Revlon - Super Lustrous-- Raspberry Bite
jess31570 8/27/2012 4:34:00 PM
This is way too bright pink on my medium-light tan skin. I think it would look good on pale skin with pink undertones, but warm girls steer clear, this is way too cool. I'm tossing it.

Lipstick -Revlon - Colorburst in Raspberry

This one didn't do anything for me. The color looks bright muavey and oldish on me. Was hoping for a fresh bitten look.

Lip Gloss -Palladio - Herbal Plump 'N' Shine Creamy Pink
jess31570 8/10/2012 2:02:00 AM
I would buy this again based on the lasting coverage for a gloss (that involves some stickyness), and the beautiful, delicate, glowing finish that the shade Crystal Ice gives. This review is for Palladio plump 'n' shine herbal plumping lip gloss in shade: Crystal Ice. I bought this at lunch when I forgot any lip stuff in my purse that day. It's plumping ability is average for what any product that makes this claim is actually able to do. If you're older and have a few tiny lip lines, this should plump them up somewhat. I was afraid this non-color would wash me out, but it turned out perfect for adding a pearly glow to lips without looking at all too frosty/white/crackho. I especially like combining this shade with dewy eyelids and slightly pearlized bronze cheeks. A great shiny sexy neutral. My natural lips have a medium pinkish-muave hue I guess.

Liquid -Urban Decay - Naked Skin
jess31570 8/8/2012 7:47:00 PM
I am trying this in 3.5 and I think it looks very pretty on. I'm a lazy make-up person but have been on a grooming wagon lately. I'm 42, have some redness, pores, and a little sagging going on, so makeup helps. I also have tried the Estee Lauder DL one after seeing some raves around here. That one is fine. I think it makes me look more "made up" compared to the UD Naked, which I think looks very fresh and glowy on me in comparison. The other old steady I've always used when I do use foundation is Almay Oil-Free. That one's been fine, covers fine, and i'm not afraid to fall asleep in it since I'm a naughty girl when it comes to bed time face washing regimens. So it's the end of the workday here, I've blotted twice (once around 11:30 and just now), and I can tell I still have foundation on. It looks nice and I'd be ready to go somewhere after work. To be fair, I think it behaved better today with the new Murad mattifier and UD De-Slick I am trying for the first time today. Yesterday I noticed product settling in the nose pores, don't know if it was the foundation or the e.l.f. high def powder. In summary, compared to EL DW & Almay Oil-Free, I'd rate UD Naked significantly above fine. I don't see why I wouldn't buy it again. It seems to "do something" rather than just sit there. I think it radiates. I applied with fingertips. I can't get used to putting a dry fluffy brush to liquid foundation yet.

Pressed Powders -Physicians Formula - Multi-Colored Corrector- GREEN
jess31570 8/2/2012 4:08:00 PM
This works for my medium-reddish center of face (off sides from the nose). I use the brush it came with and swipe it lightly twice over the whole multi-color surface, over light foundation, under powder. I apply it lightly, only to the red zones. Considering the other low reviews, maybe a light touch is best, over foundation.

Bronzers -Rimmel - Natural Bronzer- 21 Sun Light
jess31570 7/17/2012 1:05:00 AM
I've only tried a few bronzers in the past and they all made my skin look dirty. I have tan olive reddish skin. This one was nice and neutral to stick in the shadows of my round cheeks. I have no cheekbones and a round moonpie lumpy face so I don't want to draw attention to my cheeks. It's a nice background healthy accent, especially when I want to do brighter eyes or lips.

Primer/ Corrector -Unlisted Brand - Milk of Magnesia
jess31570 9/27/2011 5:43:00 PM
Hello, I just wanted to thank whoever gave old Milk of Magnesia a recent bump or review. I forgot about that old suggestion for a good mattifier, but I do remember reading it here many years ago. So I am trying it out again, and WOW. I usually have very shiny forehead already by morning. It's afternoon now and I think I've only done one powder touch up earlier this morning? Really really amaaazzziiiing! I'm happy to have found that life-saving tip here on the MUA :) I'll come back and edit my review if it makes me break out, but I'm over 40, so I doubt that will happen.

Fragrances -Carolina Herrera - Carolina Herrera

I don't know what I was thinking trying this at the store and then still buying it. It is way WAY too strong and way WAY WAY too sweet. I tried to spray one spray in the air and jump halfway in and out of the cloud quickly. The bathroom still smelled like it when I got home 9 hours later. I finally gave up 1/2 way through the bottle and got rid of it. :( I hate to waste that but I'll never buy perfume in a rush again.

Top/Base Coats -OPI - Natural Nail Base Coat
jess31570 9/11/2011 4:25:00 PM
I tried this out based on recc's for stain prevention. I've been using it on short nails with very dark and bright colors known to stain, and I have to say, I think it does a very good job of stain prevention! That's huge if you've ever stained your nails and like to go back & forth between sheers, clears, and brights. It has not accelerated any chipping for me, but I think that short length nails with little to no free edge do not have much chipping problems. I've been wearing a work polish Sunday night - Thursday night and my color stays put, especially with a mani extender clear coat half-way through the week, if I have time, which I usually don't. I am not currently trying to grow my nails out, I'm finding short much more chic and easy to care for right now.

Lipstick -Neutrogena - MoistureShine Lipstick - Angel's Blush
jess31570 9/7/2011 9:42:00 PM
Bought while on a light pink kick. Because of this one's peachy pink cast compared to some cooler frosty pinks, it survived a massive purge. I wore it while trying a blue eye shadow day, and had a very retro face, but it felt right and looked cool! I have warm olivey-golden skin with redness. Try this if it's on sale and you want to try out a workable frosty pink from the drug store.

Lip Gloss -Sally Hansen - Lip Inflation
jess31570 9/7/2011 4:27:00 PM
Bought this at Walgreen's after I read someone saying that this was just as good/better than Lip Fusion. I got the Sheer Bare for work. It has a weird smell of old people ointment. It goes on gloopy. It tingled but my lips do not look noticeably filled out like when I use Lip Fusion. I'm in the phase of purging out old makeup or things that just do nothing for me, and I think this is one of those things.

Polishes -China Glaze - Love Letters

if you want a clear sheer and don't want essie pink glove service, then this is a great buy. 2 coats gave a little too much of a feverish pink. i'm not sure why there are some comments around about this one streaking, maybe the formula changed. this formula doesn't have enough pigment to streak. I bought a brand new bottle from sally's 12/09. the application is nice, i tried it with a clear ridge filling base coat (sally hansen nail quencher) and poshe fast drying top coat for a glassy finish.

Polishes -Unlisted Brand - Omega Labs - Hot Green 326
jess31570 12/23/2009 10:25:00 AM
Found at a nail supply store, $2.00. A nice rich green. Was hoping to find a dup for Nars Zulu and don't know if I did but I like it. Here is the fresh coat pic:
48 hours later, there is only one tiny chip on my most used finger, and i am very clutzy with hands.
this was using the same brand base coat and top coat. i am very satisfied. i did get bubbles on 2 out of 10 fingers, might try with other base & tops.
