Eye Shadow -Stila - Flare eye glaze
jesdmill 4/5/2003 4:18:00 AM
Darn you Stila! With all the eye and lip glaze knock-offs on the market, I have yet to find one that comes close to the real thing. Flare is an amazing color - if you have green eyes you need it! It makes my eyes "pop" more than any other shadow I own. The color is hard to describe - kind of a shimmery pinky-bronze. It's beautiful, and it absolutely lasts until I take it off without creasing. I wear it by itself as a wash, with MAC Powersurge kohl as a liner. It makes me look awake no matter how tired I am! I do hate the price, but the uniqueness of the color justifies it for me. I don't mind the applicator - I never use it anyway, I always apply with my finger!

Foundations -Shiseido - The Makeup Cream Foundation
jesdmill 4/4/2003 11:16:00 PM
I recently went in search of a new foundation, because I ran out of my Origin reflecion perfection, and I hadn't loved it enough to replace it. I decided to try out Shiseido because the counter manager is a friend of mine, and I trusted that she wouldn't put me in anything that looked bad. I wasn't sure about this foundation at first - it's much creamier than any I've had before. It makes my skin look flawless though - it almost gives an airbrushed look. And the added sunscreen is a nice bonus. I do find that it gets oily by the end of the day, but much less than many other foundations I have owned. It's expensive, but I'm willing to repurchase because it looks so lovely on. I'm a MAC NC15 and I wear very light ivory in Shiseido foundation.

Lipstick -MAC - Viva Glam IV
jesdmill 4/4/2003 11:13:00 PM
I avoided buying VG IV for a long time because I kept hearing about how bright it was. After dying my hair black I was on the prowl for pink and berry shades again after years as a redhead - so I decided to check it out. Well, the verdict is in and I love it. It isn't bright at all - just a lovely shimmery berry. It's isn't pink or fuscia on me. I've been wearing it topped with Pop Mode lipglass, which brings out the purple even more. My one complaint is that it can be drying and doesn't last the longest - but I don't mind reapplying!

Eyeliner -MAC - Ivy Eye Kohl
jesdmill 4/4/2003 11:10:00 PM
I love MAC eye kohls - they're the best liners out there in my opinion. I especially love all the funky colors they come out with. Ivy is no exception - it's a beautiful shimmery blue green. I like to pair it with the new L'oreal OTL powder from the spring collection for a fresh look.

Lip Gloss -BeneFit Cosmetics - ISland Hot Pots Lip Creme [DISCONTINUED]
jesdmill 4/4/2003 11:08:00 PM
When I saw these lurking behind the benefit counter, I knew I had to have one because the packaging was so adorable and retro. I'm a big sucker for Benefit's packaging, even if the products let me down. I decided against the eye colors because they didn't look like they would show up on me and looked at the lip creams. I settled on Undertow... where'd my bikini go?, which is a natural, nude pink with subtle shimmer. It's a definate YLBB color on me. The texture is lovely as well - slippery with ok staying power - not stickey at all. My only complaint - the things that keeps these from 5 stars is the taste. They have a faint plasticy taste similar to Nars lip lacquers - but not as strong and bearable once you get used to it. At $18 these products are expensive, but I'm willing to pay for packaging sometimes - and this is one of those times.

Foundations -Paula Dorf - Moisture Foundation Oil Free
jesdmill 6/21/2002 2:35:00 AM
I have this foundation in Porcelain. I wear MAC NC15 and this is a near perfect match for me. I really like this foundation - I bought it because its designed to be used with a foundation brush. Applied this way it gives wonderful medium - full coverage . It stays pretty matte and doesn't make me break out or emphasize flakiness. If desired it can be applied more sheerly simply by wetting the brush before applying (I use MAC #190 foundation brush).

Eyes -Anna Sui - Creamy eyeshadow wand
jesdmill 6/19/2002 5:40:00 PM
These are creamy eyeshadows in a lipgloss style wand. I have #001, a shimmery white, and #700, a shimmery champagne. These are beautiful, shimmery colors. These are not liquid eyeshadows, but rather cream shadows with a thinner consistency. They must be applied thinly or they will crease. I use them as brow highlights so I don't have any problem. This is a nice product, but I wish it didn't crease.

Lips -Anna Sui - Wand lipgloss
jesdmill 6/19/2002 5:37:00 PM
Anna Sui is now making lipgloss in wand form. I was happy to hear this because I never cared for the lip gels, so I ordered 2 shades from Sephora.com. I got #701, a shimmery champagne gold, and #300, a sheer lavender with tiny microglitter, similar to MAC Nico. These do have the signature scent and taste. I don't mind the scent, but I really wish these didn't have a taste. I don't enjoy the taste of roses, sorry! The gold is an especially lovely color though, and the packaging is always beautiful. I only wear them once in awhile because of the scent, but I do love them!

Loose Powders -Anna Sui - Loose Powder
jesdmill 6/19/2002 5:33:00 PM
I have this powder in the Lavender shade. It leaves a slightly shimmery colorless powder. I like it for night use. It isn't my favorite, but I love the scent and the packaging is very pretty.

Lipstick -LORAC - Sheer Lipsticks
jesdmill 6/19/2002 5:20:00 PM
I love Lorac's regular lipsticks, so I thought I would try Naturally Demi. I have very lightly pigmented lips, and this color did not show up on me at all - it literally looked like I was wearing nothing. I am afraid to try any of the other sheers for that reason.

Lip Gloss -LORAC - lip polish
jesdmill 6/19/2002 5:07:00 PM
I have this product in Tickle, which is a neutral pinky-brown. I love the minty scent of this product, and I also adore the cute packaging. My only complaint is that it doesn't have the best staying power. Also, all the netural shades are very similar - I wish there was a wider range of shades!

Powders -Youngblood - Mineral Rice Setting Powder
jesdmill 6/19/2002 5:01:00 PM
This is my favorite setting powder. The lightest shade looks almost white but goes on essentially colorless on my PPP skin. It really helps to control oil when used either with the Youngblood foundation or another foundation. It is recommended to apply a layer of this powder, then the minerals, then another layer of powder. This really gives a matte surface. The packing is also nice - I traveled with this product and it neither leaked nor did it spill when I opened it. I wish they would put the loose minerals in the same container!

Foundations -Youngblood - Natural Mineral Foundation
jesdmill 6/19/2002 4:58:00 PM
I've tried Bare Escentuals and Jane Iredale mineral foundations before and been displeased - the light shades were too pink and they really made me oily within a few hours. I decided to try Youngblood because of good comments I had heard about their foundation in Pearl by fellow yellow toned PPPs. I ordered a sample and immediately was impressed. The color match is excellent for me (slightly lighter than MAC NC15). It covers well and can really be used as a concealer! It doesn't get oily, especially when used with the lightest shade of rice powder. My only complaint is about the packaging - it comes in a small jar with shaker holes under a plastic cover. This makes it so you cannot shake out more than what you can use at one time because there is no powder reservoir. I felt like I was constantly wasting product, so I transferred mine to an empty Shu powder container and now I'm very happy with it!

Lip Gloss -Pieds Nus - More gloss lipgloss
jesdmill 4/19/2002 9:47:00 PM
This is a great lipgloss! It comes in wand form with a funny shaped bottle - kind of round on one side, triangular on the other! This gloss has no real scent or taste. I love it for the colors! I have the light pink and the light orange ones - both are very shimmery and sticky enough to have great lasting power without being annoying.

Foundations -Youngblood - Natural Mineral Foundation
jesdmill 4/19/2002 9:43:00 PM
It's funny how mineral foundations seems to vary so much by person. I see comments that Youngblood is shiny, but it's matte on me while Jane Iredale made me an oilslick! Anyway, I think this is a great foundation. I have the loose powder in Pearl, which is a good shadow for PPPs with warm undertones, especially when used with the light rice powder. What I like best about this product is that it actually is a great concealer! It's easy to get sheer coverage all over using a brush, and then I can take a small brush and dab a little bit on blemishes and they seem to disappear! I don't use it under my eyes though, it's too dry for that. I don't have to blot with this, although I usually do anyway - but it really controls oil! Youngblood recommends putting a base layer of the rice powder under the foundation, and doing that gives a great matte look. Highly recommended, but try samples first to find a color match - they're available at www.ybskin.com
