Fragrances -Giorgio Armani - Armani Code for women
jes1 10/26/2006 10:49:00 PM
Blech! I can't give details that are too distinct, as I would have to put this on again to work it up note by note, and I am so not willing to do that! Armani says that the notes are Orange flower, Fresh ginger and a honey sandalwood accord- sounds interesting right? At first spray I thought it was going to be unique in a good way- light fruity top notes with a spicy accord - But as the night wore on, my headache got worse, and this quickly turned into a cloying headachey mess. Not for me, maybe my body chemistry, but I won't be running out to purchase this, or stand next to anyone wearing it (lol) anytime soon.

Moisturizers -Nuxe - Creme Etincelante Radiance Resurfacing Cream [DISCONTINUED]
jes1 10/24/2006 9:33:00 PM
An addict of *most* things Nuxe, I had to purchase this as soon as it showed up on ebay (It just recently showed on the Nuxe website) It is a beautiful, velvety cream, similar in texture to Creme Fraiche. This one is a peel cream, and it did cause a tiny bit of sensitivity around my nose the first few nights, however- the results are BEAUTIFUL! My skin has never looked clearer or felt smoother! I have been using this as a night cream instead of Dr. Brandt Pore Effect (and now using on alternate nights) and no break outs! Just clear, glowy, pretty skin! Now if I can just make this last until it is available for purchase, I'll be golden! (Oh, and they sell an AHA-free version for sensitive skinned girls too!)

Styling Products -Frederic Fekkai - Glossing Sheer Shine Mist
jes1 10/11/2006 10:33:00 PM
Fab-U-Lous! My hair is naturally very straight and pretty shiny and healthy on it's own. I usually wear my hair back to work and always end up with fuzzys along my part and around my face. A few spritzes of this stuff on damp, pulled back hair (I don't blow dry) and Presto! My hair is super extra shiny (In a nice natural way) and 16 hours later I still have NO Frizzies! My hair has a great, polished, finished look and is not greasy at all! This is not like one of those silicone frizz tamers or shine enhancers, and is definately worth a try (there is a trial 1.7 oz size that I got, and I think it will last forever!) I will definately buy again. Not sure how it would look over hairspray and other "hold" products, but I use glossing cream after I shower....

Mascara -L'Oreal - Featherlash waterproof [DISCONTINUED]
jes1 10/7/2006 1:21:00 PM
Featherlash is a long loved mascara for me, been using it for years after looking for a bit more length than my previous fave, Clinique Glossy (also a great mascara) This keeps lashes seperated, lengthens with a very natural look. I have tried others in between, but always return to this...It is nice to love a less expensive drugstore mascara, since I firmly believe in tossing it after about six weeks! Works great with Smashbox primer for a fuller look.

Conditioner -Alba Botanica - Alba Hawaiian Mango Moisturizing Hair Conditioner

I really like the smell, atificial though it may be :) This is thick and creamy and as previous reviewers said...nearly impossible to get out of the bottle. But my AM bottle shaking workout is worth it for the shiny, bouncy pretty smelling hair!

Shampoo -Alba Botanica - Honeydew Nourishing Hair Wash
jes1 10/7/2006 12:15:00 AM
Super yummy, natural earth-friendly shamp that leaves hair shiny and bouncy! I am on my second bottle and love love love!!! The Plumeria scent is the same formula, if you like change now and then :) Good Stuff! My only warning is that my hair is a bit tangly after I wash, so I definately need a good conditioner...Alba Hawaiian Mango Conditioner to the rescue!!!! Seriously folks...who could ask for more?

Eye Shadow -Smashbox - Ambient Eye Shadow Quad
jes1 8/28/2006 9:55:00 PM
Although the east coast weather has hovered between 74 and 85 and humid, my fashion daydreams are of courderoy and denim, knee high boots and cozy blazers. I have the back to school blues (the blues because I no longer get that cathartic "start it all over" transformation when September hits) This cute little pallette totally fill the void in my fall shopping world. The colors are leafy and neutral and will go beautifully with the creams and browns of my fall wardrobe. They are a bit soft, which makes them a joy to put on but minimizes lasting power. Great buy!

Lotions/ Creams -Olay - Radiance Reviver for Dry Skin
jes1 4/23/2005 4:58:00 PM
First, I would like credit for this idea! LOL After many years of streaky freaky unnatural bottle tans, I began to just mix a tad of neutrogena self tanner with my face and body lotion for a buildable tan. That said, this stuf is wonderful. I think it works particularly well for fair skinned girls who, like me, don't turn "tan" so much as become beautiful healthy human flesh colored girls when we spend some time in the sun:) This takes out the blue white glow, and my legs and arms are a lovely streak free, even, deeper version of their natural color...Good stuff

Bronzers -Nuxe - Poudre Eclat Prodigieux Multi-Usage Compact Bronzing Powder
jes1 4/23/2005 4:50:00 PM
I can't beleive no one has reviewed this yet! This is Nuxe's Bronzing Powder, not the liquid stuff. It comes in a beautiful, HUGE gold colored metal compact, and you get 25 grams of powder (almost an ounce!) So I really don't imagine I will need to buy it again soon. The powder comes in one color, which looks "scary bronze" in the compact, but goes on a beautiful sheer color that is very buildable...I use just a bit with my (Sephora copy of) Nars bronzer brush- Light sweep over surface, dot on cheeks, bridge of nose, high forehead and chin and blend in. Gives a nice warmth to my complexion when it is no longer reasonable to roam around in my blue white winter cast skin:) You can also build it for more intense, "Tan" effect, if you like (not too beleivable on me LOL) There is no shimmer to this, but the package describes "light reflecting pigments" so what you get is a glowy sort of finish...gorgeous...Best bronzer I have ever tried for my yellow undertones FFF/PPP skin!

Treatments (Eye) -Nuxe - Contour des Yeux Prodigieux
jes1 2/25/2005 8:54:00 PM
Nice: Soothes, moisturizes, depuffs a bit. Smells nice and sinks in quickly. This is one of the thinner eye creams I have ever used, as I typically like them nice and thick, but since I love all things Nuxe, I figured I'd give it a shot. This is a lovely eye cream, but unfortunately it doesn't do much for "firming" and fine lines in this area, so I think it is probably better suited to younger skins...

Lip Treatments -Prada - Lip Balm Tint #2
jes1 2/22/2005 10:01:00 PM
This is the only lip product I have ever described as YLBB, because it is the only thing that this closely matches my medium pigmented lips!! Gorgeous medium sort of "Dusky Rose" That is a lovely match for my PP complexion with yellow undertones. I love these Balms, the size, packaging, moisture... I love it all! #1 for no makeup days, #4 because it's beautiful with a full face, #5 with nutmeg blush and a big autumn cream colored sweater, and #6 for understated glammy effect...But this one it just flat out gorgeous with everything!! (My wallet is cringing as I go on and on:) I'm going to stop now, there is something odd about raving this much about something not human....

Pressed Powders -Hard Candy - O-Blot-Erate
jes1 2/13/2005 10:18:00 PM
So I have been looking for a purple/ blue finishing powder since I read an article in a magazine about a year ago...(There was a disasterous episode involving Sephora all over color in a purple shade that we won't discuss any further here!) This fits the bill. I am not particularly oily, but my nose gets a bit shiney during the day, and compact powders have never been able to match my very fair but slightly olive-y complexion. This goes on beautifully sheer (don't fear the color as others have said) neutralizes a bit of the yellow in my skin, and even reduces the appearence of little blemishes! Best of all, I don't end up with that "Oh! Did you just apply powder?" look, as it has a really sort of "satin" finish, and not too much coverage. This is not for those of you horrible girls (lol) that only wear powder as base makeup, as it imparts no "skin" color, but adds a lovely, light, color correcting finish to a slightly shiney face without adding another layer of makeup! Superb. (Oh- and the sponge is cute but cheap and useless.. I use a travel powder brush instead) :)

Lip Treatments -Prada - Prada Balm tint #4 - Berry
jes1 1/30/2005 9:05:00 PM
Love love love this. Don't need to say too much because so much has already been said! I am not sure why people compare these to the nuxe tinted balm, because they are so different in texture and pigmentation. Got these from lovely swapper and am totally addicted! This is my fave color so far, love the true berry color and sheer to medium finish and think it would look lovely on almost any complexion. I have given up on lipstick because nothing fails to dry out my lips... These keep my winter lips happy, pretty, moisturized and most importantly NOT Chapped and flaky by the end of the day!

Fragrances -Dawn Spencer Hurwitz - Sensual Spice
jes1 1/19/2005 11:27:00 PM
"sigh" I wish this smelled like spice bread or kitchen spices on me, instead, it smells like those little cinnimon hearts people give on Valentines day (Minus the sweet center). I get no "sweetness" here, as I would have expected from the honey notes, and little to no nutmeg. It isn't bad, just not very complex and, well, smells like red hots, and I don't want to smell like red hots! No worries, I ordered enough DSh samples to entertain me for awhile, so moving on....

Lotions/ Creams -Jaqua Girls - Best Foot Forward Chai Spice Latte Creme
jes1 1/17/2005 7:02:00 PM
Yea for Jaqua Girls! I will admit now that I am writing this review even though I only received this today...and this is why- This is the first product that claims to smell like Chai that I have ever tried that ACTUALLY SMELLS LIKE CHAI!!! I have had some poor to fair experiences with this line before, but since I am committed to trying everything Chai scented, I had to get it. A bit pricy for a foot cream at $15 for less than 5 ounces. It smells lovely- now if they just make a body version and get the smell to last a bit longer..I'll be in heaven. I used it on my hands and it actually makes a lovely non to greasy hand cream, but the smell didn't linger very long (Not that lasting power is usually an issue with foot cream... I will update my review after using this on my feet overnight.
