Liquid -Chanel - Vitalumiere
jensmakeupbag 2/20/2011 2:24:00 PM
WOWZERRS! I think I may have finally reached HG foundation status! Alert the authorities! This foundation is the bomb (for you young people, that means it's awesome!) PROS: -doesn't go on flaky on dry skins -dewy finish for the people with dry skin trying to find a glow -to me has that "glow from within" finish -glides perfectly on skin with a foundation brush (I use Clinique's foundation brush and it works beautifully!) -love the smell, it smells like a Chanel boutique to me -pump included that dispenses an even amount of foundation CONS: -E X P E N S I V E at $55 in the US -cap is kind of flimsy and doesn't lock on well -packaging is glass! not travel friendly! -not for oily skin...very dewy! -need a setting powder -staying power is not all day OVERALL: If you have dry skin, with flaky patches (that you normally get wearing other foundations) then this is a perfect match for you. Be in mind that this foundation is made for dry skin so the dewy finish is a must, so matte lovers stay away. This photgraphs beautifully but it does not provide a full coverage. This is more light-medium coverage. If you're looking to find a high end foundation to give you that glow from within, Chanel Vitalumiere is the best!

Misc Beauty Tools -Ecotools - Lash & Brow Groomer
jensmakeupbag 8/25/2010 12:07:00 AM
Hmm not sure why this product received many bad reviews. I really love this tool. I own the tweezerman lash comb and it doesn't work as well as this one. It is also less scary to use because I have poked myself in the eyes plenty of times with my tweezerman one. This is really easy to use and the comb it comes with brushes my brows down and makes my eyebrows look soft and natural. Love this!

Scrubs -Origins - Modern Friction
jensmakeupbag 7/31/2010 2:31:00 AM
Horrible scrub! I think it's way to harsh for my sensitive, dry skin. I actually tried this on my body which ended up being a better alternative for this expensive scrub. I normally love scrubs but this is just too harsh for the face. I ended up having acne and itching around my jawline. I would never repurchase! If you have dry skin, try Laura Mercier's face polish or make your own scrub. I sometimes do in the winter time and it works wonders and is dirt cheap! All you need is: Sugar Extra Virgin Olive Oil Honey Mix it all together and you have a body/face scrub, gentle and non-comedeogenic.

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Naked Palette
jensmakeupbag 7/31/2010 2:26:00 AM
Normally I don't like Urban Decay but this was something I had to have. I just tried this palette today and WOW! I didn't realize that the shadows are so pigmented. Just one swipe of it on my brush and on my lid and it left so much pigmentation. These colors are great for everyday neutrals to smoky sexy sultry eyes. You can also rock smoky browns, blacks, grays, even a nice plummy brown. My favorite colors in the palette is probably virgin and hustle. These colors are great for any age, any eye color, any nationality. The 24 hour pencils are great for the waterline and glide on really well. A brown and black double ended pencil is great for any look you're going for. Also the mini UDPP is great for travelling. You don't need anything else except this kit if you love neutrals/smoky eyes. Also love the packaging and mirror it comes with. Awesome palette!

Tinted Moisturizer -Laura Mercier - Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 - Oil Free
jensmakeupbag 7/31/2010 2:18:00 AM
I am really starting to LOVE Laura Mercier. Getting older, I'm starting to get away from the hype of MAC and Urban Decay. I'm thinking more about my skin and letting it's natural capability shine. This is a staple in my makeup routine. I normally hate wearing foundation because of the feel of it in the middle of the day. I especially hate blotting in the middle of the day as well. With this foundation, it doesn't come off oily and lasts a long time. I find myself looking at myself in the mirror all the time because my skin looks so glowy with this foundation. I have this in sand. The only thing is that in the beginning, it looks lighter than my complexion but as it sets, it somehow matches my skintone and highlights the right places. I feel like my skin is so glowy with this tinted moisturizer. I feel like it's moisturizing but I still do moisturize before putting this on because my skin is so dry. I use Laura Mercier's Tone Perfecting Creme before this step and my skin is soooo glowy! The packaging is great because you don't have to deal with bottles, pumps, and jars. Thank goodness for her packaging. Makes it travel friendly as well. I only used this on my vacation to the Philippines and didn't burn on my face. This evens out your skintone really well if you have the right color. Thanks to Laura Mercier, I have glowing, even skintone. EDIT: 11/9/10 I am giving this 3 stars now because of how oily it gets throughout the day. It does say oil-free but I find that this is oilier than the original one which is weird. I also find that this doesn't last long through the day even with powder to set it. I am sticking to my MAC Face and Body foundation, it's light and oil-free. The packaging is still cool on this product but I won't repurchase.

Eyeliner -Clinique - Brush-on cream liner in TRUE BLACK
jensmakeupbag 7/31/2010 2:11:00 AM
Uhh...this transfers to my lid like no other! I bought this because I ran out of my MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack and wanted to try something new. This glides on easy but doesn't have that flat black that I love about fluidlines. You have to reapply this over and over again to get a really black solid line. I have really oily lids and this doesn't stay on with primer/paint pot at all! MAC fluidlines tend to stay on all day for me. This really smudges quickly and fades throughout the day. I end up having to wipe my lids all day because of this stupid liner. I'm so disappointed I can't return it. I'll continue to use MAC fluidlines.

Sunscreen -Unlisted Brand - IQQU - Advance Sunscreen SPF 35 UVA/UVB
jensmakeupbag 7/31/2010 2:01:00 AM
This leaves a horrible whitish cast across your face and causes breakouts. Well on me it did. Her whole skin care line caused breakouts for me. Especially her serum (the anti-aging one that looked like a brownish gel) and her moisturizer. I had itching and horrible acne from all of her products. Be sure to think about what you're purchasing because it's difficult to return and shipping is also very long. I love Michelle Phan but not her skin care.

Lipstick -Victoria's Secret - Very Sexy Perfect Lipstick in Sweet Nothing
jensmakeupbag 4/22/2010 12:35:00 AM
Oh wow...I believe this is HG! This beats my original HG, MAC Viva Glam V! Color: Neutral mauve, more glossy looking than with sparkle which Viva Glam V has. It is super pigmented! Consistency: Very smooth and moisturizing. When it fades, it doesn't leave my lips dry and chapped. Size: 0.12 oz Price: $12.00 Packaging: square lipstick case, sturdy with glossy finish Lasting power: Not as well as I thought it would be. It doesn't last but I really don't mind applying lipstick throughout the day. This sort of depends on the person.

Primer/ Corrector -Skindinavia - Makeup Finishing Spray
jensmakeupbag 4/1/2010 6:34:00 PM
WOW! I love this product. It really does "finish" my makeup and makes it stay on alll day. I actually noticed that I didn't even touch up during the day when usually I touch up about 2-3 times a day. The real test is using this with liquid foundation and believe me, this stayed on all day! I work really hard at my job so makeup doesn't last very long. But with this stuff it does! I'm happy to say that the end of the day, I don't look oily and my makeup is still fresh from when I started. Awesome product.

Hair -Carol's Daughter - Tui Hair Oil
jensmakeupbag 4/1/2010 6:29:00 PM
I HATE THIS PRODUCT! It's a greasy, oily mess. Packaging sucks. It spilled all over my makeup and made it smell like flowery corn oil (which is all this stuff is). OVERPRICED FLOWERY CORN OIL! I will never repurchase or try this product again if it meant my life. This is a utter and total disaster of a product. Please don't buy. PS: I have coarse, thick, wavy hair...it didn't work for me. If you want shine, try Unite's Liquishine...HG for me.

Lipstick -MAC - Retro Matte - Ruby Woo
jensmakeupbag 3/22/2010 3:27:00 PM
Oh ruby woo...you have definitely woo'ed me! CONS: -a little drying -matte so it can look a little flat -must use a lip pencil (imo) -better applied with a lip brush for better control PROS: -a true, bright red! -can put some gloss on top for that sexy pout -stays on all night -had to touch up once when I wore this in vegas after dancing all night -anyone can wear this red -buildable and sheer color can be done (depending on how you apply) Summary: This is my very first red lipstick purchase and probably my last. I love this color! It's a MATTE red so beware. It may feel a little drying but you can definitely add a little lipgloss on top. My trick: the first thing I do in my makeup routine is put lip balm on. It will moisturize your lips the whole routine and your lips will be ready for any color at the end of the routine. If I do this, the matte red is not so scary. I think a lip pencil is a must with this. I use REDD by MAC. It's a beautiful combination! My favorite red! A suggested look with Ruby Woo lipstick (for NC40 girls/guys) EYES Lid: MAC All that Glitters e/s Crease: MAC Mineralized Skinfinish Natural in Medium Deep Liner: MAC Blacktrack fluidline winged out further than usual at the ends FACE Foundation: MAC Face and Body Foundation (waterproof and stays on all night for clubbing nights) Set foundation: MAC Mineralized Skinfinish Natural in Medium Tan Contour/Bronzer: MAC Mineralized Skinfinish Natural in Medium Deep (same color in crease of eyes) Blush: MAC Mineralized blush in Nuance Highlight cheek bones: Benefit High Beam for that all over dewy glow LIPS Your favorite balm (mine is aquaphor) MAC Ruby Woo lipstick MAC Redd lipliner a little concealer to make your lips perfect (outside the edge of your lips) with a MAC 266 brush

Liquid -MAC - Face and Body Foundation
jensmakeupbag 3/16/2010 7:03:00 AM
PROS: -great coverage for daytime -great coverage for nighttime (buildable) -no breakouts for me -easy to apply with fingers or a brush -don't need too much -can be used on face as well as body makeup -lots of product! you will never run out -easy to mix with moisturizer to create a tinted moisturizer -lots of colors to choose from -no SPF so great for pictures CONS -pricey! -liquid so people tend to dislike the heaviness of liquid foundation and how it becomes cakey -no pump applicator -no SPF -tends to separate after a period of time. you end up having to shake this foundation to get an even smooth texture. OVERALL: I freaking love this foundation! I use it for clubbing nights, days I want little coverage (which I'll mix this with some MAC strobe cream or my moisturizer to thin it out), and for medium coverage. This is my go to for pictures because it really covers well. I don't find this cakey or heavy at all. You must set this foundation for it to stay on all day. I like that it doesn't have that makeup smell unlike foundations from other companies.

Powder -Bare Escentuals - Hydrating Mineral Veil
jensmakeupbag 3/16/2010 6:54:00 AM
Omg! HG! I have used this everyday since I bought it. I don't know why I didn't find this sooner. I hate the original formula because it left on a cakey look to my face and often made a whitish film on my face. This doesn't do that! It leaves my skin looking fresh, soft, and have a hint of a glow to it without being too disco ball. I did buy the brush with it and I love it. I usually hate bare escentuals brushes because of the scratchiness but this brush is extremely soft. I actually use this as a setting powder for my MAC face and body foundation and cream foundations. I don't use this with my bare minerals matte foundation because I feel it's too much powder and looks cakey (even with MAC fix+ to set it). However, with liquids and creams, it is a dream! Only cons are that it doesn't really hydrate my skin and the packaging sucks for loose mineral products. It can get messy. However, I will continue to repurchase forever.

Cleansers -LUSH - Angels on Bare Skin
jensmakeupbag 12/5/2009 5:04:00 AM
I loved this stuff for the first few weeks. Then I started to have raw, sensitive skin. I guess using this for everyday wasn't something I should've done. It really ruined my skin. I started breaking out around my chin. The first few days my skin was in heaven. But you really shouldn't exfoliate your skin everyday. With the oatmeal and other harsh ingredients, it really will tear your skin apart. I'm back to using Mary Kay timewise set and my skin is in the best shape ever. For reference: combination/oily skin that gets super dry in the winter time.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Cult of Cherry Spiced Chocolate Quad [DISCONTINUED]
jensmakeupbag 11/21/2009 4:00:00 PM
I really like this quad for fall/winter and for bridal makeup. It has four beautiful colors that complement each other well. You can do multiple combinations with this quad. COLORS (clockwise starting from top left) -NANOGOLD (lustre released during the N collection) -BRASH (veluxe pearl) -SWEET CHESNUT (frost) -SPICED CHOCOLATE (matte) One thing I LOVE about this quad is that is includes a matte finish eyeshadow. That's what you should really have in a great quad of shadows. One matte shadow is great for blending out the outer v to smoke out your eyes and it doesn't produce over done glitter to your eyes. OVERALL: great steal from MAC if you ever come across it. GET IT! Especially if you have brown eyes this a must have product. Great for travel as well.
