Eye Shadow -Becca - Eye Colour - Suede
jennylovesjohnny 1/8/2013 7:38:00 PM
Okay, so this is an expensivish eye shadow, but the Becca range is amazing and so worth the money (especially if you like neutral looks). This colour (suede) is hands down THE BEST colour for smudging along the lower lash line. I use it every single day and my eyes look incomplete without this stuff. I own several Mac shades in the same depth/colour family but there is no other colour that compares (especially in finish). This creates a neutral shadow along the lower lash to balance out the heaviness of the top lid. It is just the right deep brown without the harshness of a black colour and is neutral enough to match any lid colours. It is silky smooth, so easy to apply and blend, and stays put all day. HG material. P.s I have used this colour every day for a year at least and haven't even dented it. But I am considering purchasing a back up just in case they ever decide to discontinue the shade! Love it.

Eye Shadow -Max Factor - Earth Spirits - Almond
jennylovesjohnny 9/30/2012 7:24:00 PM
This is my HG wash colour, because it is EXACTLY the colour of my skin. So what's the point of applying it you ask? Because it creates a clean slate for other eyeshadows to be applied, without affecting their colour. Not sure how this colour would fair on other skintones as a wash but nonetheless this is a beautiful, truly neutral medium toned shadow with a silky application and finish. Will repurchase again and again.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Swiss Chocolate
jennylovesjohnny 9/30/2012 7:13:00 PM
Wow, so amazing on brown eyes! I have had this colour for a couple of years and had been too afraid to use it, thinking it was too warm and would make me look clownish. But boy was I surprised! The matte finish keeps it looking natural while the warmth really complements the skin. I use it in the crease on top of a very nude colour wash (I am really into the maxfactor single in almond). This produces a very pretty and wearable combination for brown eyes that really makes them pop. Love it.

Eye Shadow -Too Faced - Lockdown Cream Shadow - Bondage
jennylovesjohnny 5/13/2012 6:15:00 PM
I applied this yesterday morning and after 24 hours, my eye makeup looks exactly the same. I know, I shouldn't have slept with makeup on but I was exhausted last night! To be fair, the staying power of this product (I used it as a base for my eyeshadow) is immense. But so too is the ANNOYING glitter. What a shame, because the colour is perfect. A perfectly neutral champagne colour. But why the glitter? I have bedroom eyes and dramarama and both are also gorgeous, neutral colours - without glitter. They are great. Unfortunately, bondage ended up in the bin. I didn't keep it because I didn't want to forget that the product makes your eyes look like tinsle and use it again by accident in future. Would have given 5 lippies for this product without the glitter.

Eyeliner -Prestige - Total Intensity Eyeliner-Bold Brown 02
jennylovesjohnny 5/8/2012 8:53:00 PM
I have bought this pencil in every colour but the bold brown is my favourite. I stumbled across it while looking for a dupe for my HG (but incredibly expensive) YSL Dessin Du Regard waterproof pencil. May I say that I swatched the two pencils side by side on my hand and they looked EXACTLY the same. I asked a few people to tell me which one they thought was the expensive brand and which was the cheaper (Prestige).. and said they were identical, but if they had to pick one..everyone picked the Prestige swatch. The two are identical in colour, texture, smoothness, and they both wore EXACTLY the same throughout the day. So now I am in love, I have purchased several Prestige pencils for the price of one YSL product and I have received (in my opinion) exactly the same product just with a different wrapper.

Eye Shadow -BeneFit Cosmetics - Creaseless Cream Shadow in Sippin' and Dippin
jennylovesjohnny 5/8/2012 7:30:00 PM
I think this has been the worst eye product purchase for me. It just did not suit my colouring (medium neutral skin, brown eyes). It was way too light and the peachiness was the wrong tone for me. When the SA put it on my eyes, she darkened it by smudging eyeliner into it and so it looked half reasonable. When I tried it at home, it was just wrong. Not only that, I could not for the life of me apply it without the colour streaking. Horrible. So I put it in my drawer and went back to try it again several months later to see if I could make it work but it had gone hard and unusable. Another BeneFit product in the bin.

Eyeliner -BeneFit Cosmetics - Eye Bright
jennylovesjohnny 5/8/2012 7:10:00 PM
I don't understand the point of this product? I bought it because the pushy SA was being pushy. I hate BeneFit sales people, they really are annoying. Their products have been real misses for me too. This one in particular was a waste of money in my opinion because it is a matte light pink colour which did absolutely nothing to flatter my eyes at all, actually it made them look ugly. I tried using it first on the brow bone beneath the brow as directed and it was a horrible chalky waxy mess. I then tried to use it on the inner corners of my eyes, and again, made my eyes ugly and the product melted off in a matter of hours. Then I tried it on my waterline, as I was once advised to use a light colour (not white, as it is too harsh) on the waterline to open the eyes. It just did not work. This product was a mess to use, a nuisance to sharpen (being such a thick pencil), and ultimately ended up in the bin when I couldn't figure out what to do with it. Real disappointment. For reference I have neutral medium skin with brown eyes. This might work for you if you have a different colouring?

Treatments -Guerlain - Super Aqua-Serum
jennylovesjohnny 5/7/2012 6:51:00 PM
I bought this over two years ago, used it a few times as part of my daily moisturising routine, and didn't understand why I paid so much money for it (I own and love pretty much all the other products in the super-aqua range). So it sat in my drawer until two weeks ago, when I decided it was time to get my money's worth. I thought to use it at night time because it doesn't contain spf. Then my perception of the product totally changed. One squirt covers the entire face. Apply it to well cleansed and toned skin and in the morning you will wake up with fresh looking, plump and supple skin. Wow. It went from 1 lippie to 5 lippies in my book. Love and will definitely repurchase, I knew Guerlain wouldn't let me down!

Eye Shadow -MAC - Nehru Eyeshadow
jennylovesjohnny 5/7/2012 6:35:00 PM
This was my first ever MAC eyeshadow and to this day it is still one of my favourites. I have big brown eyes and sometimes the glossy or deep blacks really make my eyes looks small and horrible. So I figured the secret was to use a matte, charcoal black instead, and nehru fits the bill perfectly. I use this shadow in so many ways, mainly to create a smudge affect around my eyes when I don't want a harsh black line. I particularly love to use this on the outer corners of my eyes, applying it with a smudge brush on top of my eyeliner and extending upwards. It sets the eyeliner and immediately makes your lashes look thicker. Love it.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Ricepaper Eyeshadow
jennylovesjohnny 5/7/2012 6:26:00 PM
Such a silky eye shadow. Lovely medium neutral with a hint of warmth through peachy beige undertones. I use this as an all over wash colour and it sits beautifully with cool and warm crease and/or lid colours alike. I use this eyeshadow on its own when I want a bare look - for reference I am about an NC37. I especially like to pair it with purpley taupe colours like Becca Lame.

Eye Shadow -MAC - AMBER LIGHTS
jennylovesjohnny 5/7/2012 6:21:00 PM
At first I was afraid, I was petrified...! I bought this online and when I opened the package and saw the colour, I thought... oh no. I tried it on the lid and I hated it, I thought it was so bright and hideous. Then one day, I tried it in the crease. It was amazing. Really made my brown eyes look sultry and captivating and pop. Then day after day I paired amber lights in the crease with different lid colours and I was amazed at how well it complemented both cool and warm shades of shadow. This colour is definitely worth trying if you have dark brown eyes like mine. For reference, I am an NC37.

Loose Powders -Becca - Fine Loose Finishing Powder
jennylovesjohnny 5/7/2012 6:11:00 PM
Right now this is my HG finishing powder. Don't expect this powder to cover anything, it is purely for setting your foundation. Apply it sheerly with a large fluffy brush. It may look matte and chalky at first but half an hour later it will transform into a silky veil and provided you buy the right colour, it will be transparent - like your skin has a natural radiant glow. It will keep oil away for most of the day if you have oily or combination skin like mine. The problem is the packaging is a bit annoying, only peel off one quarter of the sticker if you know what's good for you! Tip the container upside down and give it a couple of taps and the right amount of product will fall into the lid for one use. I have a very neutral medium complexion and wheat is a PERFECT match. I first thought it was way too light so I purchased cardamom (that is so dark, stay away if you have medium colouring, it will look horrendous on you). Then I went down a notch and purchased mocha and it was still too dark. I also found that it oxidised to a really muddy orange colour on my face after a few hours. So finally I tried wheat, and it was perfect. For reference, the closest MAC shade to my skin is NC37.

Primer/ Corrector -Inglot - Under Makeup Base
jennylovesjohnny 5/6/2012 12:18:00 AM
I used this product for several years and loved it, but then discovered it was the reason my skin was always oily and my makeup oxidised so much. It did, however, help my foundation to glide on like silk. I guess if your skin is not so oily, this could work wonders for you.

Eye Shadow -Inglot - Single Eyeshadow
jennylovesjohnny 5/6/2012 12:15:00 AM
Okay, there was a time when I only ever bought Inglot eyeshadows and I probably owned in excess of 50. But I could never get them to work, and as a result, never wore eyeshadow. I just thought that eyeshadow was not for me. But then I realised it was just the Inglot brand. While their colours are highly pigmented, they are horrible to apply and blend, and crease like crazy. They are so chalky. Great colour range though. Since discovering other brands like mac and Becca, I have thrown out every single Inglot shadow I owned. It was a really sad experience for me, knowing that I had spent all that money on one brand when I could have been experimenting with better ones.

Loose Powders -MAC - Prep + Prime Transparent Finishing Powder
jennylovesjohnny 5/6/2012 12:07:00 AM
I loved this for a long time then realised this was the reason that I had a horrible greyish cast on my face with flash photography. For years I thought, my make up doesn't look like that does it? But then reading some threads I realised that this powder was the culprit. It's disheartening to say this because this powder really does finish your makeup nicely. Since searching for alternatives, I have come across several powders that are miles ahead, but none which are transparent. So I have kept what remains in my jar and maybe one day I might try it again.
