Lip Treatments -Maybelline - Baby Lips lip balm in Pink Punch
jenniecampbell 10/6/2012 6:43:00 PM
I like the pink shade, and I like that you can build up the color, but the Pink Punch is not very moisturizing compared to the Peppermint or Quenched. Plus, when I applied this brighter shade of lip balm, I had to be careful of the "lip-smushing" thing most people do because it ended up spreading the pink color past my lips and onto my skin, which with the non-moisturizing just made me look like I had chapped lips. Not cute. I can usually use a tinted balm or balm stain without this issue, but I found to make this look right I had to apply like a lipstick-carefully and finishing with concealer around my mouth for a clean line.

Liquid -Clinique - Even Better Makeup SPF 15

I really, really wanted to love this foundation. I use the Clinique Acne Solutions skincare line, I love every sample bag I get with my skincare products, but this was for sure a miss. The texture is runny, even after you shake it, and there is very little coverage. I was better off using concealer only, because this product didn't cover any acne scarring (even the older, light scars!) and the color didn't match my skin. I am quite fair-skinned, so I bought the lightest shade, but it was still too orange-y. It didn't help with my oily skin either, I had to cake on powder to have a matte face for even 30 minutes.

Primer/ Corrector -Rimmel - Fix & Perfect Pro Primer 002

As a makeup consumer on a budget, I love this primer. I would like to note though, that I have never used a high-end primer, so I can't compare the two. BUT, this primer does exactly what it's supposed to-fills in pores and lines; and keep my foundation in place. I have very oily skin, and I usually go at least four hours without any shine (in the summer, since it's very hot where I live. In the winter I can go longer). I even use this as an eye primer, it doesn't irritate my sensitive eye area and keeps my eyeshadow in place. If I forget to use moisturizer, it's okay for the day because this moisturizes well also. I will definitely keep buying this product until I find something that keeps my skin matte for longer, or my budget allows something more expensive.

BB Cream -L'Oreal - Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream
jenniecampbell 10/6/2012 6:19:00 PM
I was very hopeful about this BB Cream, or any brand for that matter. I decided to give it a shot since my acne has cleared up for the most part, with just some scarring to cover. Unfortunately, from the moment I applied it, my face was bright orange (even though I purchased the lighter shade), super greasy-looking, and overall just a hot mess. I left it on for just a few hours while I was at home to see if the appearance would improve, but it just got worse as the day went on. Definitely NEVER buying this again, and hopefully I will be able to find a brand that leaves my skin with a matte finish and an even, natural tone.

Liquid -Revlon - ColorStay Makeup

I have oily, acne-prone skin, I have tried many drugstore foundations (I'm a broke college student and prefer not to spend too much on makeup, this is $9) and this is the best one so far. I have some redness so I cover that with a stick concealer first, then apply this foundation and a powder to set my face. After my routine, I don't see any redness, and as for the 16-hour claim I can wear for about 3-4 hours with absolutely no oil (the temperatures go up to about 110 degrees in the summer where I live, so 3-4 hours is really good for me) and I've worn this for a full 14 hours with just a few touch-ups. When I notice some oil, I just lightly dab a blotting paper over the area and apply another swipe of powder, and I'm good to go. I've been using this foundation for about six months now and I will continue using it until someone recommends something better to me.
