Pressed Powders -MAC - Studio Careblend

Love this powder. Silky smooth. Dosn't leave me feeling caked in product and dosn't tend to dry out my already parched skin. I use the medum shade every day over a variety of foundations/shades, works well with everything. Essental part of my makeup kit.

Liquid -Revlon - PhotoReady Makeup

If I need to buy any "high street" brand of foundation this is the one I go to. I always have at least one bottle of this. I find it quite similar to the MAC Studio Fix. Ok the coverage is not as full as the MAC but I find the formula and ease of application comparable. Its a great every day foundation. I buy the golden beige for my NW 20-25 skin, and I've never noticed any "sparkles" that other reviews have mentioned.

Liquid -Illamasqua - Skin Base foundation
jennieafero 10/4/2011 11:53:00 AM
Wow. I am in love :) I basically stumbled across this little gem. I thought I was happy with my Mac Studio Fix foundation but didn't want to use this for my bridesmaid makeup (it has SPF, with photographers flash can make skin "white out"). I went to nearly every makeup counter in House of Fraser then Debenhams and each brand all the foundations had SPF (Except MAC Face & Body, but I'm not a huge fan). Anyway I came accross Illamasqua and non of their foundations contained SPF, Hurray! So after testing a few I decided on the *New* Skin Base Foundation in shade 08. After a few wears I have to say I am hooked! The formula is really easy to work with and is surprisingly thick. The coverage is buildable and I just apply it with my fingers. It gives the most gorgeous glowing, healthy looking natural complexion. I have really pale/rosey/freckly skin and usually prefer full coverage but I am very happy with this. Something I found interesting however was on the Illamasqua website there is a shade comparison chart for all different brands (MAC, Bobby Brown ect). With MAC I wear NW20. The shade comparison chart shows that the Illamasqua shade I bout this foundation in (08) is comparable to NW 30 wich I don't agree with so if you are buing this brand for the first time I would sample it and definetly visit a counter to get the right shade. A lot of people are commenting on their skin improving due to the Beauty Balm element and all I can say is that my skin has not had any break outs and feels very moisturised which is unheard of as my skin is temperamental and extremly dry. I love this stuff. Can't reccomend it more highly. If you want it, and this shade in particular - Good luck! It's sold out and their is a waiting list online. Can only mean good things! :)

Mascara -BeneFit Cosmetics - They're Real
jennieafero 10/4/2011 11:28:00 AM
I've been using this for a few weeks now and to be honest some days I love the way it makes my lashes look and other days I'm like bleh :/ I am so picky with mascara and am constantly looking for a decent mascara that wont smudge and smear and will at least let me look like I have some definition to my eyes! In these respects, yes this mascara works, but the results are not consistant. Some days I have to apply a lot of coats to get any real coverage. This does curl my lashes pretty well (which is no easy feat!) but the results are not lasting either. The brush is a big plus, i love that it has decent bristles and its too chunky and the little sphere thing that is on the end of the brush helps to catch my teeny corner lashes and thin bottom lashes nicely. I probably will buy again but then again.

Primer/ Corrector -LORAC - Aquaprime
jennieafero 10/4/2011 11:18:00 AM
This is the best primer I've tried so far. I feel it really improves the hold of my makeup throughout the day and makes the makeup application a lot smoother. Its oil free and although I have really sensitive/temperamental skin this has never caused me to have a breakout. Another thing I really love is the fact that a little goes a looonng way. I've had this tube for almost 2 years (goes against the shelf life but hey, I'm not throwing it out if it still works!) Will buy again.

Primer/ Corrector -Too Faced - Primed and Poreless SPF20 Bronze Tint Skin Smoothing Face Primer
jennieafero 10/4/2011 11:10:00 AM
I had both the bronzer version and the original Primed & Poreless products in my hands in the shop and to be honest I'm dissapointed that I opted for the Bronze one. Yes the product applies smoothy and feels silky on the skin but the bronze tone is not nice. I have rosey cheeks and NW25 skin but I love the bronzed look bit this looked muddy and patchy! :( I have seen other reviews saying this stuff is amazing which Is the reason I got it but for me it wasn't great. I didn't feel it held my makeup well either. All in all a bit of a waste of money for me. I wish I had just tried the original tint free formula first.
