Tinted Moisturizer -Clarins - Super Restorative Tinted Cream SPF 20 - Sand

I received a sample of this in a swap. I had forgotten that I had it until I ran out of my Bobbi Brown tinted moisturizer so I decided to give it a try. I have to say this is an amazing product and I'm sorry that I love it because it is quite expensive, around $72 but I did find a vendor on Amazon and bought it for $50. I normally prefer a tinted moisturizer rather than foundation. Foundation can tend to have an aging effect as it will settle into fine lines (but I am happy with Diorskin Airflash and Bobbi Brown Skin.) I've tried several tinted moisturizers and this by far is my favorite. As a moisturizer it does a great job at reducing the appearance of my wrinkles and fine lines. It really does give me a flawless complexion. I'm 48 and am lucky that I have good skin, I do however have 2 small, not very bad "age spots" on my left cheek and this does a wonderful job of masking them. This gives me a very natural, flawless look, the #2 sand is perfect for my fair/medium slightly pinkish skin tone.
I bought this blush after reading all the rave reviews and I'm so glad I did. Having never used a cream blush before I was a bit apprehensive. But it's easy to apply and the Blushed Rose is such a beautiful color. I wasn't sure if I should apply with my fingers or a brush. I decided to apply this with a regular flat foundation brush on the apples of my cheeks and the results are flawless. I look forward to purchasing some other shades.
What I like about Alpha Hydrox Foaming Face wash is that it removes all my makeup. No need to use makeup remover wipes before washing my face. It also doesn't leave my skin feeling dry or striped. I only use this at night. I use a CeraVe hydrating facial wash in the morning to remove any remotes of my Retin-A and moisturizer from the night before. The skincare line is called Alpha Hydrox. This cleanser does not include any AHAs even though some reviewers state that it does. You don't need an AHA in your facial cleanser anyway, it just gets washed off. Use their souffle for exfoliating.
Sunscreen -Makeup Artist's Choice (MUAC) - Natural Sunscreen

This stuff is terrible. Actually it might even be discontinued because I no longer see it on their site. It is so thick and is so difficult to blend in, it leaves a white film on my face. It's on my swap list, hopefully someone will want it.
Moisturizers -Neutrogena - Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Cream (Night)
jennbrook 11/11/2010 4:01:00 AM
I use this on nights I give my face a rest from Retin-A. It has a beautiful light-weight texture, applys like velvet (not kidding) I have normal skin (occasionally very slight oily t-zone and occasional dry skin) I usually hate moisturizers, they feel greasy and give me shine, but this one came as a pleasant surprise. I love the feel of it on my face. It has retinol so I don't feel guilty when I want to skip my Retin-A. Also has anti-oxidants; green tea and vitamin E. Not a jar - huge bonus! Great price
Above average mascara. I admit I only use the pink wand. i don't layer them as the consultant demonstrated. I do love the way it separates my lashes. My daughter actually stole this from me and it works wonders for her, she does use both wands, pink first, but she likes more of a dramatic look than I do. Most likely I will repurchase but I have so many mascaras, went on a mascara buying frenzy since I grew my lashes with Careprost (generic for Latisse)
Mac, really? I mean really? I can't wear this under lipstick, it lessens the wearing time of my lipsticks and causes bleeding. This is not a lip primer that increases the staying power by any means. I use at night before bed because my lips get dry. Too expensive for a lip balm and that's all it's good for.
This lipstick is my guilty pleasure. I'm blonde and blue eyes and love the way it looks when I wear bronzer. Would I buy again? no, but it's fun for now.
This lipgloss is really pretty on me. I admit I don't wear it often (the lipstick I wear all the time) and layer the lipstick with a different gloss more often. Not because I don't like it, I really really do. The color is so different than the lipstick and the color is more bold than I like for a daytime look, it's also kinda orange whereas the lipstick is more watermelon. It's a nice change of pace and I'm overall happy with the purchase.
Love it. The color is amazing on me. It's not really red, more of a watermelon. I love the texture. The only problem is that it has no staying power. I reapply so often I'm almost out and that never happens to me with a lipstick this fast. Proceeds go to help fight AIDS, great reason to purchase.
Tinted Moisturizer -Paula's Choice - Barely There Sheer Matte Tint SPF 20

This is Paula's only product that I will not be repurchasing. My skin can pretty much withstand anything, but about 50% of the time I use it, I feel burning on my face and get reactive redness. This disappoints me because I trust Paula not to use irritating ingredients. I looked at the review on her website and only 1 or 2 others experienced the same, so it must be some particular ingredient that my skin doesn't like. On days I don't immediately have to wash it off, I do think the color and coverage is good for a tinted moisturizer, however its not exactly moisturizing. I'm sorry Paula, I still love you and all your other products.
Lots of bad reviews, but this works beautifully on my face. Goes on like silk, a little goes a long way. Makes the pores in my t-zone appear to disappear. Did I say it goes on like silk? The pump dispenses the perfect amount of product. So easily applied. I will definitely repurchase. Note: My skin is normal, sometimes very slightly oily in my t-zone (actually not even sure it could be considered oily) Sometimes dry due to Retin-A use. But for the most part I have pretty good skin. Most of the bad reviews were by those who have either dry or oily skin. If you have normal skin I would recommend giving this a try.
Eyeliner -Urban Decay - 24-7 Glide on eyeliner in bourbon
jennbrook 11/11/2010 1:54:00 AM
Meh. Yes it glides on easy, but it doesn't smudge well, staying power is great, but it's difficult to remove at the end of the day. It's difficult for me to draw a thin line. The color isn't impressive, I thought it was going to be brown, also It has glitter (why?) It applies easily to my upper waterline but is irritating to my eyes due to the glitter and the fact I wear contacts. I know many people love the 24-7 line, but this just wasn't for me. I would give it to my daughter as she loves 24/7 in Zero, but she won't wear an eyeliner that isn't black.
Powders -Clinique - Clinique Redness Solutions Instant Relief Mineral Powder
jennbrook 11/11/2010 1:47:00 AM
I received a sample of this and liked it enough to buy the full size product. But I quickly returned it after only a several uses. First off, toss the stupid brush, why couldn't Clinique have ditched the brush and charged less for the powder? Really, Clinique? Really? You are suppose to use this under your foundation, at first I thought that sounded strange, but when you think of it, the point is to tone down the redness on your face, not change the color of your foundation. It can also be worn alone. Yes it is yellow but doesn't show up as yellow on my face. It did slightly reduce my occasional reactive redness, so why did I return it? For the price it just wasn't impressive enough to justify keeping it. The single-use sample I received, was the only time I LOVED it after that just meh. So Clinique you failed to impress me once again with your Redness solutions line. I've given up trying to find a product to combat my reactive redness. The solution for me is not to use products with irritating ingredients, nothing with a fragrance and only products with state of the art formulas. Learning about ingredients and not buying anything before knowing what is in it.
Primer/ Corrector -Clinique - Redness Solutions Daily Protective Base
jennbrook 11/11/2010 1:36:00 AM
Back to Sephora it went. I tried it 3 times and all I have to say is boo. I have occasional reactive redness which bothers me to no end. It was recommended I try this green base. It didn't do ANYTHING to counter-act my redness. Once I blended it in, you couldn't even tell I applied anything at all. The texture was weird, doesn't apply easily, felt as if I had to tug at my skin. I'm glad if it works for some. Redness can be such a complete pain. It just didn't work for me. You wanna know what does work for me? Nothing with a fragrance, no hot water on my face, no sun on my face (sunscreen is a necessity) a good quality AHA and a light weight moisturizer.
