Polishes -Nailene - Sensationail Color Gel Polish

Bought this after biting the bullet and spending $59 dollars on it at my local Wal-Mart. As many other people mentioned, you spend nearly that on one gel manicure. At least in my salon, it cost me $45 dollars plus tip for a gel manicure that lasts about two weeks. That is about $100 bucks a month...on only your fingernails---pedicures not included. For background history, my nails are paper thin and bend-y. They are prone to tearing and generally I do not grow them because they are ruined whenever they get long. I usually have to get acrylics or silk wraps for additional length, but with gel nails I can grow my own and not worry about having fake nails applied. The quality of this product is amazing. I got the starter kit which comes with the light, a sample polish color, top and base coat, primer, cleanser, wipes and file/buffer. I start off by clipping my cuticles and pushing them back with my own nail trimmers, and then follow the instructions to a tee. The result? My nails are rock hard, VERY shiny and chip-free for two weeks, if not longer. In fact, I find that the nails get even harder by the second day. For example, it is true that they are dry to the touch after curing them with the light. However, I find that the real strength and hardness of my nails appears after they have time to set on my nail over a few hours, which is great. My one nail has chipped after a week, but I blame that on my nails instead of the polish. Currently, my nails are stronger than they've ever been and longer than I've had in years. They have the strength of acrylics, but they are my own nails. I have changed the polish twice now. The removal is a pain in the butt becasue you have to soak them in acetone, but I find that if I use my cuticle clippers to help "lift" the polish after it soaks, it peels right off and leaves no residue. I have also bought a few more colors. Disappointed there aren't more, but I'm sure once everyone realizes what a great product this is, there will be more colors to come. Very impressed and recommend to everyone.

Primer/ Corrector -Laura Mercier - Foundation Primer Oil -Free
rated 2 of 5
jennaalatalo 3/24/2012 2:55:00 AM

I bought this because I loved my Laura Mercier Silk Creme foundation in Bamboo Beige and figured that if I used her primer my foundation might look even better. Plus, I have pretty oily skin and figured that an oil-free primer might help control oil and make my pores appear smaller. HOWEVER, I used this several times and it didn't do anything. I still became very oily, my pores were the same size/just as visible, and it didn't make my face any smoother. Did it make my makeup last longer? Nope. Not even that. I spent, what, $30 bucks on this? What for? I could've saved $30 dollars and not used anything and got the same result. This goes on like a moisturizer. I use Cetaphil and it's a LOT cheaper than this crap. Very disappointed, especially because I loved my LM SC Foundation. Will not repurchase and do not recommend.

Crème -Laura Mercier - Silk Creme Foundation

Used this after hating MUFE HD Foundation. I got mine in the shade Bamboo Beige (I'm an NC30 at MAC). I love this stuff. It's definitely a full coverage foundation but doesn't feel thick or mask-y. You just have to make sure that you blend well. It lasts a decent amount of time, too. I can go to work at 7:30am and leave at 4:00pm and it still looks like I'm covered up (in a good way). Will repurchase.

This s**t is nasty. It settled into my undereyes and made me look 40 years old. I am 22 with no lines! Gross, and hate the packaging. NOT worth it. Will not repurchase.

Blush -MAC - Sheertone in Pinch O'Peach
rated 5 of 5
jennaalatalo 2/14/2012 4:15:00 PM

As most others have stated, the name of this blush is misleading. I am NC30 and feared that this pale muted pink would not show up on my skin at all and I'd have to layer it a bunch of times. HOWEVER, once I got it home and applied it to my cheeks, I fell in love. This color is the most gorgeous color I've purchased. I also use Dolly-Mix on a regular basis but this is my new favorite. Would definitely repurchase!!

Eye Primer -Urban Decay - Eyeshadow Primer Potion - Original (UDPP)
rated 5 of 5

LOVE this stuff. My eyelids get oily and while I love UD eyeshadows, I could never wear them unless I only needed makeup for a short amount of time. This stuff will keep it on all day, crease-free!

Shampoo -Suave - 2 in 1 Kids Shampoo
rated 1 of 5
jennaalatalo 2/14/2012 4:11:00 PM

This stuff is awful. I use it on my child's hair and questioned why her hair was so static-y. Then I ran out of my shampoo and used hers, and my hair was disgusting after it dried. Static-y, dry, and like straw. Spend a few dollars more and get L'oreal!

Hair Styling Tools -Remington - T-Studio Pearl Curling Wand
rated 1 of 5
jennaalatalo 2/14/2012 4:09:00 PM

I read so many great reviews on this product and expected to love it as well, but I didn't! I have medium-long, fine hair. I used this iron even on the lowest setting for short amounts of time and my hair came out frizzy and gross, not to mention the hair kept sliding down the barrel. I had much better results with my normal clamp curling iron. Would not recommend.

Highlighters -BeneFit Cosmetics - Girl Meets Pearl
rated 3 of 5
jennaalatalo 2/14/2012 4:07:00 PM

This was an okay product. It's really shimmery and pretty, but you need to use a lighter hand. I also find that with my oily skin, the shimmer tends to travel even if I only place it on my cheek bones away from my T-zone. I found it was high priced, especially when you can find cheaper highlighters at the drugstore that do the exact same thing. I spent $30.00 at Sephora. Overall, pretty and like the packaging but not worth it.

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Skin Laboratory - Salicylic Acid 20% gel peel
rated 5 of 5
jennaalatalo 2/14/2012 4:04:00 PM

I LOVE this product. I tend to have a lot of closed comedones on my cheeks that end up looking bumpy and gross. My skin's texture is awful without exfoliating. This stuff is inexpensive ($20!? For a peel you can do at home!?) and works. Highly recommend!!! Also, they ship it out fast. I ordered it and received it two days later and I live in Alaska :)

Treatments (Eye) -Philosophy - Miracle Worker Miraculous Anti-Aging Eye Cream
rated 3 of 5
jennaalatalo 2/14/2012 4:03:00 PM

I am only reviewing a sample of this that I received at Sephora. So far, I love it! I am going to be purchasing this as soon as I make it back there. The cream is a thicker consistency which is nice because many of the other eye creams I've tried are either thin or greasy. This feels thick and non-greasy and soaks in well overnight. So far, so good.

Concealers -Hard Candy - Glamoflauge Concealer
rated 2 of 5
jennaalatalo 2/14/2012 4:01:00 PM

My Walmart either sucks and never restocks or this stuff goes fast. It took me a good three weeks to find it on the shelves and I was so excited to try it based upon all of the good reviews here. Bottom line is that I'm not excited about it. It's very thick and doesn't blend into the skin well--it kind of sticks to the surface and looks sticky. It also wipes off very easily which is not attractive if you are snuggling with your boyfriend and turn his shirt into a beigey-browny mess. Yuck. Not worth the $6.00 I spent. I'd much rather use my Almay concealer.

Lipstick -BeneFit Cosmetics - Silky Finish Lipstick - Skinny Dip
rated 3 of 5
jennaalatalo 2/14/2012 3:59:00 PM

I love the color of this product on my NC30 skintone. It's not really a red, a pink, or a nude but kind of a combination of all. It brightens my face without being too harsh or overbearing. The only thing I do not like about it is the fact that it's SO creamy that it rubs off too fast. I have to reapply it constantly and with it being so soft, the lipstick loses shape easily in the tube. Would repurchase though, just because of the beautiful color.

Treatments -Neutrogena - Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Cream
rated 5 of 5
jennaalatalo 2/14/2012 3:54:00 PM

I bought this cream a while back and stopped using it. I repurchased it and I'm not sure why I stopped in the first place. I have oily, acne-prone skin with the tendency to get a lot of closed comedones and bumps all over my cheeks and jawline. I have been using The Skin Laboratory's salicylic acid peel, but in addition to this, my skin is clearing up and looking better. I am not really using it for the wrinkle effects as I am using it to help exfoliate and clear up my skin. So far, so good. Even without makeup my skin looks brighter, more even-toned and the acne scars I've had are fading. I would most definitely repurchase. For the price of an anti-wrinkle cream in a drugstore, $11 bucks isn't a big deal to me. Love this stuff.

Scrubs -St. Ives - Apricot Scrub Blemish and Blackhead Control
rated 5 of 5
jennaalatalo 12/30/2009 2:31:00 PM

Love this. Use it all the time and feel lost without it. It helps get rid of dead skin and oil that I get all of the time. It also makes my face feel really smooth and radiant. Sometimes I'll rub it in and leave it on for 10-15 minutes and I find that it really helps my skin feel smoother and my makeup goes on a lot better. Would recommend.
