Hair Color -Garnier - Nutrisse Permanent Creme Hair Color

I am 41, and have never colored my hair - ever. I've always loved my hair color - dark dark brown (almost looks black) so I never saw a reason to change it. Until... the grays started popping out at my part. And because of my dark color, they are visible from space. Decided to try to color my hair - was baffled by the choices offered, but finally settled on this brand, in #30 Darkest Brown (Sweet Cola). Not sure if the package is changing, because this same color seems to be listed as 'Soft Black' on the website. But I was warned not to buy anything with black in the title if I wanted to keep my dark dark brown color. Easy to use - almost fun to use! Didn't smell bad at all, didn't drip, and the color is PERFECT. Even my mother and husband couldn't tell I had colored my hair until they noticed my grays were gone! Very very pleased; hair was left full, shiny, and vibrant. A definite repurchase.

Hair Styling Tools -Goody - Spin Pin

Listen up ladies with THICK hair! I am wearing my hair in a bun RIGHT NOW!!!! I'm just so excited. I've never been able to wear my hair up, because I have soooo much of it, and it's thick and coarse. My hair right now is about an inch above my shoulders, so I think it will be even easier to do once it's a bit longer. The only way I could wear my hair up before these was to use about 40 bobby/hair pins. And even then I'd need a can of Aquanet and a prayer to hold it up. Oddly, I only had success with these pins when I put my hair in a ponytail holder first - even though the package says not to do that. But they worked great - even though once my hair's in a ponytail, there's not a whole lot of hair to twist around into a bun. I have very dark hair, and luckily found the brunette ones at my Target. I would definitely buy these again, and can't wait for my hair to grow a few more inches.

I really liked this, but was told tonight by an SA that it is being discontinued. Of course. I think Clinique discontinues something every 23 seconds.

Conditioner -The Body Shop - Honey moisturizing conditioner [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5

First of all, I can't believe others don't like the smell of this - I could EAT this stuff (along with the shampoo)! But MOST importantly - this, along with the shampoo, is GREAT for moisturizing your dry hair, but it doesn't make it so soft that you can't style it - that's a biggie for me. I think it's easy to find a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner - yet so many of them leave my thick hair too soft - too soft to 'do' anything with it. I had a short-lived (but passionate) love affair with Phyto products this summer. This line from the Body Shop is even better - at less than half the price.

LOVE this foundation, and according to the Cover Girl website, it's being discontinued!!! That really stinks. I love this foundation - better than most of the high end ones I've tried.

Hair Styling Tools -Conair - Infiniti Cord Keeper Dryer
rated 5 of 5
jenjoseph 8/20/2008 9:33:00 AM

This is the fuchsia-colored Conair hair dryer that has been advertised lately in magazines (specifically September's Allure and In Style). This is one awesome hair dryer! I am thrilled with this purchase, and you will be too. My hair dryer crapped out on me over the weekend, so I began searching for a new one. I was looking at the more expensive Baybliss dryers, but decided to give this one a whirl. And I'm so glad I did! Full disclosure - I have very thick, course shoulder length hair that I dry 'crazy' - I scrunch it up and dry it *against* the cuticle. Horrible, I know, but it's the only way to give my hair the wave/curl I want! I usually have to use products to combat the resulting fine outer layer of frizz, but not this morning! This dryer truly did make my hair frizz free, despite the crazy way I dry it! And even on high heat, I initially thought, "This is going to take FOREVER" but it didn't! It retails for about $39, but I got it on sale at CVS for $29. The retractable cord is great, but hold onto the cord when you're pushing the button to retract it - otherwise it can really whip around.

Lips -Avon - Glazewear in Crimson
rated 5 of 5
jenjoseph 8/14/2008 6:37:00 PM

I have been looking high and low this summer for a lip gloss in a blackberry color - sounds easy, but was surprisingly hard! I saw this in the Avon catalog - from the Glazewear line that I have used before, and like. This shade (Crimson) is exactly what I've been looking for - a blackberry shimmer. Gorgeous!!!

Lipstick -Estee Lauder - Pure Color Lipstick in Sugar Honey 183
rated 5 of 5

Are you someone who wants to wear a red lip, but is hesitant? This is *gorgeous* over Clinique's automatic lip liner in deep red. Just beautiful. On it's own it's nice, but it looks really nice over a wide array of lip liners (I use the lip liner lightly to color in my lips). Very pretty, and very versatile.

Misc Beauty Tools -Tweezerman - tweezers
rated 2 of 5
jenjoseph 9/18/2007 10:59:00 PM

Obviously I'm in the minority here, but I am disappointed in these tweezers. I have a pair of Revlon black tweezers, that I like, but kept hearing great things about Tweezermans. Well, I decided to purchase, and now wish I hadn't. They are almost *too* sharp, if that makes sense -- they break almost every hair I try to pluck. Yes, they are better than the Revlon at grabbing tiny hairs, but it ends up not making a difference - most of the time the hair breaks anyway. I'll stick with the Revlon.

Makeup Brushes -MAC - #187 Duo Fiber Face Brush (Stippling, Skunk Brush)
rated 5 of 5
jenjoseph 9/12/2007 10:42:00 AM

I'm pretty sure I heard angels singing when the MAC makeup artist used this on me. I was vaguely aware of this brush through the boards and reviews here, but have always used my Lancome foundation brush for liquid. This. brush. is. heaven! I am currently using it with Boots no. 7 Stay Perfect foundation, and my skin has never looked this flawless. I'm hooked.

GREAT review espionage - you nailed it. Did you know you can wear the top as a pendant? That might be why it is easily popping off, as you said.

Lipstick -L'Oreal - Infallible Lip Colour Duo
rated 4 of 5
jenjoseph 8/13/2007 9:14:00 AM

I wasn't interested in this product, due to the poor reviews here. But my mom bought one, and I decided to try it, in Merlot. She has darker skin than I, and I thought the color would be too dark on me, but it wasn't - it was beautiful. So I decided to buy one too, although I bought Pomegranate - a bright cool berry shade. It is beautiful! I know people are saying it doesn't last all day, but honestly, if it lasts 3 hours on me, I'm thrilled - normally I'm reapplying lipstick every half hour. The case is a little awkward, but it looks beautiful on - I love the topcoat. One word of caution - don't test this on the back of your hand! I did that with my mom's color, and I still can't get it off! :)

Treatments -Alpha Hydrox - AHA Souffle 12 percent Glycolic AHA
rated 5 of 5
jenjoseph 7/16/2007 8:53:00 AM

I have tried soooo many products to try to get rid of leftover acne scars - and I am thrilled to have finally found one that works!!! It seems I am always broken out on my chin area - I usually only have one or two active pimples, but the bigger problem is the scarring left behind on older ones. I am fair, and it seems that the marks stay forever - long after the pimple is no longer active. It will stay pink/red for quite a few weeks, then brown for many more weeks after that. But after only 5 days of using this product, a.m. and p.m., my chin looks about 75% better. I can't believe it! I am SOLD. I had always read where BHA's were better for breakout-prone skin, and AHA's were better for sun-damaged skin, but I didn't have much luck with BHA's - nothing like this. I follow each application with a mild light moisturizer (one with SPF in the a.m.). Seriously, the results have been nothing short of amazing. I had a bit of stinging the first few days, but not now. I keep looking at my chin in the mirror - I am so happy!

Moisturizers -DHC - Coenzyme Q10
rated 5 of 5
jenjoseph 6/6/2007 2:57:00 PM

I have just been using this for a week (ordered after I fell in love with the sample) and I *love* this cream. I am using it as a nighttime cream, and I love the texture. It sinks right in - no greasiness. I have normal skin, prone to chin breakouts. This will be a definite repurchase.

Shampoo -Nexxus - Theratin
rated 5 of 5
jenjoseph 4/30/2007 2:40:00 PM

A stylist suggested this shampoo, + humectin conditioner, for my super-course and thick hair. I have always thought that the shampoo and conditioner you use don't really matter, that it's the product you put in afterward that really makes the difference - boy have I been wrong! This shampoo blew me away - my hair is soft and fluffy (in a good way)! This shampoo is awesome.
