Hair Color -Garnier - Herbashine
jeneefaa 9/10/2010 11:59:00 PM
This (and I think next week), Walgreens is selling this dye for $5.99 w/ coupon. If you go to the Garnier website, you can get a $3 manufacturer coupon for any Herbashine hair dye. That's $2.99 for a box that can cost anywhere from $7-9 without discount! The process was simple. I wanted to dye my hair back to my natural hair color: black/brown, so I combined the darkest natural brown with soft black and the results were great. Instead of letting it sit for 10 minutes, I let it sit for 15-20 mins. I didn't have a problem with the gloves (think sandwich bag gloves), but it doesn't hurt to have better latex gloves. A tip when it comes to dying your hair: to make sure it doesn't bleed into your skin, esp on your face, apply petroleum jelly/aquaphor on the perimeter of your face and just wipe off the petroleum jelly/aquaphor when you're done dying!

Cleansers -Neutrogena - Pore Refining Cleanser

Is it me or does it have that industrial smell to it? I HATE this thing- gets in my eyes and stings. Doesn't do anything for my pores. Save your money.

Eye Makeup Remover -Neutrogena - Oil Free eye makeup remover

This removes EVERYTHING- eyeshadow, gel liners, liquid liners- in one clean swipe. A good dupe is the Target brand of this (Up and Up?); it's just as effective at a fraction of the cost.

Cleansers -St. Ives - Naturally Clear Green Tea Cleanser

LOVE this thing! Smells good, no parabens. I use it with a facial brush and, after rinsing, my skin does not feel dry- feels very soft and revitalized. I can't speak for the acne because I use a benzoyl peroxide gel after this product, but both of them combined has made me break out free for months.

Cleansers -Biore - SkinPreservation Nourishing Gel Cleanser

I CANNOT find this anywhere- this was my HG cleanser. It doesn't strip my skin and kept pimples/breakouts at bay. I tried Target, CVS, every drug store, and to no avail.

Cleansers -Biore - Revitalize 4-in-1 Self-Foaming Cleanser

It's good for oily skin, I suppose. Nice tingly feeling when you use it and, after you've rinsed it, your skin feels super clean. The only problem? My skin feels sooo tight afterward. Not a good feeling.

Shampoo -Neutrogena - T-Gel Stubborn Itch Control

It seems to work - menthol really "cools" your scalp and helps soothe the itching, but the new scent smells HORRIBLE. i was about to die in the showers!

HORRIBLE PIECE OF CRAP. Didn't blend well. Their shades are off; they come of way lighter than shown on the casing. Terrible smell, also.

Concealers -Sephora - Concealer palette
jeneefaa 4/21/2009 12:45:00 AM
I ADORE this concealer; the colors are great on my skin and the coverage is medium to heavy. Unfortunately, the packaging is awful. Don't get me wrong- it's black and elegant, but it's impossible to open without breaking your nails. I usually heat the palette with a blow dryer (to give it a blendable consistency) and use a q-tip to blend/dab onto my skin. It's a bit pricey ($20), but definitely worth the investment. Also, if you experience some dry patches (esp around the eye areas), it's probably NOT the concealer; your skin may be too dry.

One of the most overrated products on the market.

Liquid -Clinique - Almost Makeup [DISCONTINUED]
jeneefaa 3/16/2009 8:36:00 PM
This product is teeny tiny and runs $20.50. I know it's a department store brand, but the coverage is ultra sheer (it's comparable to your average tinted moisturizer/lotion). You better make sure you have incredibly good skin/no undereye to pull it off (which I clearly don't). Also, it has this really disgusting, dewy film that annoys me. Worst, I broke out like crazy! Ugh! I have combination skin but I rarely break out. This product gave me so many red splotches. I can only speak from my experience, but if you're curious, make sure you get this product from a store that has a great return policy (Sephora is amazing). Don't think that the in-store display sample will substitute; only consistent use with a product will show if it's effective for you.

Moisturizers -Aveeno - Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer spf15
jeneefaa 3/16/2009 4:45:00 AM
For a drugstore brand, it's pretty pricey. When I first put it on, it felt amazing. Very light, but still did its job as a moisturizer. Unfortunately, after a good 5 minutes, MAJOR allergic reaction. I am allergic to soybean, but I didn't think the soy concentration in this product would be as great as the consumed form. Big mistake. I handed it over to my mother (who is 50 years young) and she seems to be enjoying it. There are visible improvements on her skin- her troubled age spots/uneven pigmentations are reduced. So no for me, but yes for my mom.

Moisturizers -Philosophy - Hope in a Jar - for all skin types
jeneefaa 3/16/2009 4:13:00 AM
What a BIG disappointment. I bought this product after all the amazing raves on Sephora's website. I don't usually break out (and if I do, it's limited to mother nature's monthly gift), but when I started using this product, BREAK OUT HEAVEN. I have never seen my cheeks so ridiculously red and covered with pimples. It's like this moisturizer was built to create/highlight acne. The smell was tolerable, but never ever again will I buy into hype.

Blush -Cover Girl - TRUCheeks Blush "1"

I'm so ambivalent toward this product- it's not horrible nor is it great. I definitely would NOT purchase this again nor would I recommend it to anyone. One thing that is really annoying is that all CG products have this sweet signature smell. It's really distracting. I'm def. gonna avoid all CG products in the future.

Crème -Cover Girl - Cover Girl TruBlend Whipped Foundation

AVOID this product. I got it through a BOGO sale (reg price $9.39) so it wasn't a terrible financial loss. Anyhow, I developed TWO milas as a result of this product (milas are like whiteheads, except they're caused by a build up of keratin/oil). To worsen things, it has this disgusting cakey finish and smelled like benzene (think candy corn sweet). BIG regret.
