Treatments -Nude Skincare - Advanced Cellular Renewal Serum
jazzy87 9/24/2011 2:59:00 AM
I really wanted to love this... so much that I've re-tried it multiple times "just to check"... but to no avail. I'm a big fan of the entire Nude line, I use the gel cleanser, clarifying water, smoothing complex and eye complex. All are wonderful products, but this serum just breaks me out in a bumpy rash and leads to lots of congestion. For such an expensive product this is definitely a disappointment, try and obtain a sample before you buy.

Treatments -Nude Skincare - Advanced Smoothing Complex [DISCONTINUED]
jazzy87 3/9/2011 1:58:00 AM
After starting out with Nude's 'Advanced Cellular Renewal' serum and having it do terrible things to my skin, I was tempted to shelve the Nude line entirely. Except that I had already purchased a small fortune of other products in a spree of "please save my skin!!". Skin issues: oily but dehydrated, congestion, large pores, occasional breakouts
Thankfully, I started to use the advanced smoothing complex on its own. And Wow. Yes, it's insanely expensive (especially here in Australia), and it's only 15ml, but this is hands down the best skincare product I have ever used.
I don't have to stress about my skin, easily walk out the door without make-up, and my confidence is up. Way up. There's no price on that

Skincare - Body -Vichy - Lipidiose 1
jazzy87 10/6/2010 8:24:00 AM
PRO:
- Light texture that sinks in straight away. I usually favour heavier body butters to get the moisture content, but one beats them all.
- Skin stays supple and moisturised ALL DAY. Not kidding. Really.
- Does not irritate my sensitive skin in any way. Or cause ingrown leg hairs (ouch)
- I'm pretty confident this product is single handedly minimising the appearance of my stretch marks, the moisture content is obviously that good
CON:
- I live in Australia so have to order it online, which is a major hassle given it's poor availability
- Did you read the PROs? Read the PROs. Again!
- Then go buy this

Treatments -Clinique - Even Better Clinical Dark Spot Corrector
jazzy87 10/6/2010 12:06:00 AM
I wanted to like this. Really REALLY wanted to like this. So much so that i'm considering still using it, even though i'm 99% sure it is breaking me out like crazy.
I have fair skin, with some minor pigmentation marks from past blemishes, and generally a bit uneven skin tone.
I started using this 2 nights ago, and woke up yesterday morning with extra blackheads and some strange flat pimples. I didn't think much of it (did I mention I really wanted this to work?) so I diligently applied the treatment again in the morning.
Later that night, I got home to find my face super congested, with some more breakouts. In strange areas like the middle of my forehead. Naturally, I applied it again last night (doh) and again this morning (double doh)
Basically if I have to choose between clear or even skin, I'll go with clear, so i'm handing this one over to my mum.

Eyeliner -Inglot - Liquid Eyeliner
jazzy87 2/28/2009 6:51:00 AM
I love this liquid liner!
Great formula stays put on my lids with no smudging, and the felt tip like applicator definitely makes this very easy to use (even for inexperienced liquid e/l users like myself)
Comparable to MAC's liquid e/l, but Inglot's version is only $20. Will I buy again? - Absolutely, and in more colours too :-)

Skincare - Body -Unlisted Brand - MooGoo - Milk Wash
jazzy87 2/9/2009 4:43:00 AM
After trying (and loving!) a couple of other MooGoo products, this was next on my list. I use this mostly as a face wash, and sometimes as a body wash too. Previously I was using philosophy's purity cleanser, and recently have been giving cetaphil another go (after trying it out so many times I probably should have learned it's not for me by now). I like how this cleanser makes my face feel clean without being stripped - but without the residue and 'unwashed' feeling I get with cetaphil. I use this in the morning and the MooGoo oil cleanser at night to remove my make-up, sometimes followed by the milk wash. Compared to philosophy purity ($40 for 200ml bottle at mecca) and cetaphil (~$17) I find this quite cheap especially given the lack of nasty ingredients

Liquid -Chanel - Teint Innocence [DISCONTINUED]
jazzy87 11/8/2008 12:09:00 AM
Me: combination/oily but dehydrated with tendencies toward congestion/blackheads
You: should be sprinting out of the house right now to get this foundation. Run. Don't walk.
Really love this foundation, it provides even glowy coverage (and by glowy i mean, "wow, her skin looks so radiant!", just like real healthy skin, not an oil-slick which is what most 'luminous' foundations tend to do to me) where the glow is still retained even when a fair amount of powder is applied over the top. If you like a truly matte finish this is not the foundation for you.
I prefer to apply with my fingers as I can get a more natural finish compared to applying with my 187, and just tip a small amount onto the tips of my fingers at a time. While the heavy bottle with it's tiny opening can be a bit annoying, the size of the opening ensures that you don't accidentally tip out too much product. I think this is a good thing as this foundation works best when applied in light layers.
I'm NC20 and 20 clair was a perfect match for my fair neutral/warm skintone. For comparison, 20 is slightly yellow based and 30 is more pink based, with 40 a bit more orange (still more yellow than pink though)

Masks -Mario Badescu - silver powder
jazzy87 8/8/2008 9:18:00 AM
Ok so I've been waiting a long time to review this product - when I first bought it, I tried it a few times, and to be honest, it did absolutely nothing for me and I was prepared for it to become demoted to a 'bathroom cupboard back shelf' member (of which there are sadly many). I tried it alone. I tried it with toner. I tried it with pore strips (which just left my nose shiny and without the top layer of skin). I even tried leaving it on overnight. All to no avail.
Fast forward almost a year, to 2/3 weeks ago, when my skin was playing up so badly that even those back shelf products were starting to look promising. Basically my skin was super congested, with a few pimples thrown into the mix as well.
I'd heard that you can use this every day for the first little bit, so after 2 weeks of use putting this on every 2nd night - my skin is so much smoother and with no new spots either :D. I alternate between washing most of it off with cleanser and just leaving the ghostly remnants; using a toner to clean the remnants off; and exfoliating it away using a gentle exfoliator (which IMO is great because it removes the pore-clogging debris that the silver powder has loosened).
My method is that I spoon out about a teaspoon full into my palm, mix with a few drops of water to make a runny paste, and smooth it all over my entire face (not just my t-zone because most of my clogged pores are on my cheeks) and leave for about half an hour, which has been fine on my sensitive skin :-)

Gels/Soaps -Korres - Vanilla Cinnamon Showergel
jazzy87 7/23/2008 6:54:00 AM
Absolutely delicious. The spicy cinnamon complements the creamy vanilla perfectly, and the result is a warm gourmand scent that is unlike any other - definitely not your usual artificial plastic-y vanilla/spice body wash scent here! The all natural ingredients are another huge plus, and it lathers well with only a small amount. The scent lingers for a few hours on my skin, and every time I use this it makes me feel happy and relaxed :-)

Lotions/ Creams -Korres - Body Butter - Guava
jazzy87 7/23/2008 6:49:00 AM
Amazing scent (although not what I would expect guava to smell like?) which lingers for a few hours :D Hygienic pump dispenser and the rich and creamy butter sinks in immediately, leaving no stickiness or residue. I'm falling in love with the entire Korres line!

Lip Gloss -Lancome - Lancome Juicy Tubes - Cerise
jazzy87 5/14/2008 1:47:00 AM
I got this in a 3 pack entitled 'fruitylicious' along with Melon & Fraise, and decided that the fun coral-red looking Cerise would be my first to try. My first JT was Lychee, which has a lot of shimmer, so I was surprised that although Cerise appears a bit shimmery/sparkly in the tube, on the lips it shows barely any shimmer at all! I don't think this is a bad thing as it gives a gorgeous 'you lips but better' flush (perfect for my NC20 fair skin), with SUPER shine. The scent may not be everyone's cup of tea, it's a very strong 'melon' type scent that doesn't fade for quite a while, although I expect that the scent will become less noticeable as I get used to wearing it.

Lotions/ Creams -The Body Shop - Coconut Body Butter
jazzy87 5/12/2008 2:11:00 AM
A word of warning for coconut body butter virgins - this isn't your ordinary sickly coconut milk scent. Instead, this is divinely sexy, dark and warm -> somehow the Body Shop have managed to capture the essence of sexy summer nights at the beach and put it into this unassuming brown tub.
Compared to the perfume oil, the body butter scent is much deeper and more 'foody', and lasts all day on me. The texture is quite rich, so I mostly use this on my legs and elbows during the day, and then slather some more all over at night, especially in winter.
IMO this is the best scent out of all the Body Shop body butters (trust me I've bought nearly all of them! Mango comes in at 2nd place, with Brazil Nut a close 3rd) and this is the only one I have repurchased again and again. Serious HG. For reference the most recent Australian rrp is $27.95 AUD for 200ml size.

Fragrances -Agent Provocateur - Agent Provocateur EDP
jazzy87 4/20/2008 4:07:00 AM
I really wanted to love this. When I spayed it (very lightly) onto the card and onto my skin, going by previous MUA reviews I was prepared to dislike the initial scent and wait a few hours for it to turn amazing... however 8 hours later, it still just smells like an elderly prostitute, although the latex scent faded a bit, thank god. To me, my family, my workmates, my boyfriend, and all of the other people I got to smell this on me - this isn't sexy at all.

Makeup Brushes -MAC - #187 Duo Fiber Face Brush (Stippling, Skunk Brush)
jazzy87 4/7/2008 5:18:00 AM
I only use this brush to apply my powder foundation, but all I can say is WOW - because it applies the layers so lightly, it never makes my powder look cakey, it just looks like my skin but better! Although initially I couldn't believe I spent AUD $85 on a brush (eek!) after a few weeks use I can definitely tell the difference.

Incredible ruby red with gorgeous shimmer! Even my male friends who are ordinarily immune to beauty/fashion/etc have noticed and complimented this colour. My HG razzle-dazzle true red <3
