Polishes -OPI - Mad as a Hatter [DISCONTINUED]
jano808 2/16/2010 2:32:00 AM
Meh, color me not-so-impressed. Granted, I usually get buyers remorse when I buy glitter nail polishes. They're always so fun for a few days but then it's hell trying to get them off. This one is definitely no exception, since it takes about 3 coats to get the thick, lush layer of glitter you see in the bottle. Also, I was hoping for a black or grey undertone but it's just clear. It makes it easy for layering, I guess, but honestly, if all you want is glitter, Wet N Wild makes a decent clear glitter polish at 1/4th the cost. The colors and size of the glitter are quality so at least I didn't end up looking like a 6th grader, but I have the feeling this is either going to dry out super quick due to the glitter, run out fast since you have to layer so heavily, or just get forgotten.

Eyeliner -BeneFit Cosmetics - Eye Bright
jano808 2/16/2010 2:27:00 AM
I use Eye Bright almost every day and it makes such a difference. My eyes are my best feature so I love to play them up. When I'm tired Eye Bright definitely makes them pop and look awake. I usually use this in the inside corners of my eyes. You can also use it to line the inside rim of your eyes to pop, or even as an bow highlighter for the mouth. It's a little pricy, but I've had mine forever and I'm not even close to going through it. If you play up your eyes, this is a great add-on to the typical undereye concealer.

Ulta eyeshadow, where have you been all my life? I will never throw down $15 for Stila or MAC eyeshadow, this stuff is better quality than any of those. They have a fabulous selection of colors, nice pigmentation, they go on smooth, and they really last. AND they're a nice big size. My current fave shades for my deep brown eyes: copper bronze, eggplant, silk, and toast.

Lipstick -Sephora - Lip Attitude-Chic in Talented Berry
jano808 4/23/2008 12:27:00 AM
I got this lipstick hoping it would sort of mimic Clinique's Black Honey Almost Lipstick. Sephora's website calls the Lip Attitude line moist, long-lasting color. The color of talented berry is very pretty: a bright, pink-hued berry that goes on rich. The feel of the lipstick is very glossy and does feel quite moisturizing. The problem is that it doesn't last. I found myself reapplying all day as the bright color wears off quickly. That said, it's still a nice gloss lipstick. The formula seems nearly identical to Sephora's gloss lipsticks, which I also like, and the price is the same. The tube is very cute. For $12 it's not bad, but don't expect the color to last.

Treatments -Ojon - Restorative Hair Treatment

This smelled like patchouli and felt like motor oil going on. It made my hair only mildly softer; I get similar results from drugstore brand hair masks. Skip it, it's a rip-off.

Polishes -OPI - Moon Over Mumbai
jano808 3/22/2008 3:50:00 PM
I just got this one from OPI's new India Collection. In the bottle, it's a matte-looking blue-gray, a little too gray to be called robin's egg blue. I was disappointed that the color comes out much more sheer and translucent than it appears in the bottle. Normally, I find OPI colors to be pretty true to the bottle color. I would have liked a little more color payout. It's very pretty, but not what I was hoping for.

Another new fave for me from OPI! Other reviews call this a brown.. on me, it goes on as a coppery, brownish dark red. Very cute!

Fragrances -Philosophy - Amazing Grace Eau De Parfum
jano808 11/19/2007 6:21:00 PM
I was pleased to get a sample of this as I love the scent of the perfumed body emulsion. The scent isn't the same, though; the perfume is more floral. It's still a nice scent, but nothing exciting. I also discovered that even though I spilled some and was quite fragrant this morning, hours later it's barely detectable.

Concealers -Laura Mercier - Secret Camouflage
jano808 11/4/2007 1:11:00 AM
I must say, this product has been fantastic for me. I have generally clear and bright skin, so I have been going with only blush and a little moisturizer these days, no powder, foundation, no nothing. However, I do have a few small patches of red scarring on my cheeks. Nothing has come close to what this product delivers as a concealer. I put a dab on in the morning and it stays all day- no touch ups! Yes, it goes on fairly thick, but it stays, and it's not greasy or heavy. It's been perfect for me. I use the light color under my eyes to cover bags and blend the other two on my cheeks. Yes, it's expensive, but a little goes a long way. I've been using it for a couple of months now and it's just been consistently fantastic. Will definitely repurchase.

Styling Products -Frederic Fekkai - Glossing Cream with Olive Oil
jano808 9/22/2007 1:35:00 PM
I've been using this cream for a week, and I am generally reluctant to believe in "holy grail" products but boy, it's done wonders for my hair so far! I have short, thick, curly, and dry hair. I generally don't do much with it, but just wish it would behave (those of you with thick, curly hair know what I mean). It's also pretty dull, so I wanted something to add some shine. I read the reviews of this product here on MUA and bought the small bottle. So far, it's amazing! Not only has it improved the texture and appearance of my hair, it's been easier to manage. My hair holds moisture much easier. And maybe it's my imagination, but it's brought out the color, too. I have bright red highlights that were starting to fade and they've really perked up since I started using this cream. I've been getting hair compliments like crazy and this is really the happiest I've been with my hair in a while... and the only thing I've changed is adding this product. For those concerned about the price: a little cream goes a long way! It should last you a while.

Primer/ Corrector -BeneFit Cosmetics - That Gal

Chalk up another dissatisfied customer. This product did absolutely nothing to my skin. No better, no worse. I would have been better off spending the $26 on sheep embryos for my face.

Skincare - Face -Ole Henriksen - Sheer Transformation Creme
jano808 8/27/2007 9:16:00 PM
I got a sample of this from Sephora. I've hated previous samples of this brand because they SMELL! And this one smells too, but I can tolerate it. And it was totally worth it. I've used it 3 nights in a row now, and I can really see a major difference. It has evened out my skin tone, made my face generally appear brighter and smoother. I don't know if I'll purchase it, it is very expensive, but so far, it does seem pretty great. EDIT: Demoting to one star. The creme made me break out in small, thick cystic acne.

Polishes -OPI - My Private Jet
jano808 8/21/2007 4:36:00 PM
Granted, I'm a sucker for OPI, but this shade is fantastic! I must agree with other MUAers, too bad it's limited edition. This is such a nice step up from the plain old black nails. One coat is a nice slate grey with shimmer... two coats and it's a fabulous gunmetal grey. And the glitter is not juvenile looking or overpowering, it's very subtle, with a ton of color, which I love. Another fabulous win from OPI!

Tinted Moisturizer -Cover Girl - CG Smoothers Tinted Moisturizer Fair to Light
jano808 8/18/2007 1:55:00 PM
Ick, I was disappointed by this. I wanted something with light coverage for summer time, when my regular foundation (LOVE L'oreal True Match!) was too heavy. CG Smoothers only comes in a few colors, and I couldn't find the right color match. It did nothing to tint anyway, just moisturize. But I've started to notice something, and it can only be Smoothers: it leaves my skin dirty. It leaves a layer of gray film that feels icky and clogs my skin. Yuck. Three lippies for SPF, but otherwise, don't bother!

Fragrances -Agent Provocateur - Agent Provocateur EDP
jano808 8/9/2007 10:46:00 AM
Ugh, I don't like this one at all. It smells like cheap soap. It's a very generic but overpowering floral. I tried it several times and it just makes me nauseous and is not sexy at all. Notes are: Indian Saffron Oil, Russian Coriander, Moroccan Rose, Egyptian Jasmine, French Magnolia, Ylang-Ylang, White Gardenia Flowers, Amber, Virginian Cedarwood, Haitian Vetiver, Musk
