Cleansers -Unlisted Brand - KAPPUS Melkfett (Vaseline) Bar Soap
janjarang 6/5/2012 8:10:00 AM
I bought this soap out of curiosity and I'm super happy I actually did it! The package is very vintage and simple. I got it while traveling in Austria and this thing cost only 50 cents! Melkfett is, well, milk fat. I use this soap for my face and hands and it doesn't dry my skin out. Instead, my face feels soft and supple afterwards (and I have rather dry skin!). I use it in the morning and also after taking off my makeup. The smell reminds me of old school and normal kind of soap, which is pleasant. I have used so many products for cleansing my face in the past but there hasn't been one that I really like. I have sensitive, dry, acne-prone skin but this soap is a savoir (and it costs like nothing!). I'd definitely buy it again.

Liquid -MAC - Mineralize Satinfinish SPF 15 Foundation [DISCONTINUED]
janjarang 6/5/2012 7:56:00 AM
Unfortunately, this foundation doesn't help covering anything. It doesn't help with moisturization either and I can't see the 'Satin Finish' touch that they claim. The color does not blend in that easily. Overall, I will not buy this again.

Skincare - Body -Unlisted Brand - Egyptian Magic Healing Cream
janjarang 5/25/2012 4:07:00 AM
It's magic! I had chicken pox last year and it left me with scars and bumps on my arms that occasionally get itchy. After only single application of this cream, my bumpy skin became noticeably smoother and flatter. I put a tiny bit in my hair while it's wet and it really moisturizes well without being to greasy (I have dry hair). It also heals pimples, even big and ugly ones. You can see the results very quickly. Remember, little goes a long way with this one - so use make sure you warm the cream in your hands first. It comes in an almost solid form but melts easily in your hands. The pot also has an expiry date on it, so you know when to finish. For face, it might feel greasy at first but the cream will absorb into your skin within 10 minutes. I use it as a night cream and the results are wonderful as well. I love it and will definitely buy it again!

Moisturizers -Aesop - Sage & Zinc Facial Hydrating Cream SPF 15
janjarang 5/22/2012 9:13:00 AM
PROs: I like this day cream for its reasonable SPF, non-greasy look after the application, affordable price (not cheap but not expensive as most heavily advertized brands), and lovely smell. It sinks into your skin quite quickly and makes it convenient to apply makeup shortly afterward. Generally a good day cream for me. CONs: Mine comes in a glass jar so it's very unpractical/not so hygienic to use (I haven't found the tube version in France yet). Also, my dry skin needs more moisturizing power from this cream - to solve this problem, I've been using it together with Aesop serum (but I would rather prefer an all-in-one day moisturizer). Buy it again? Probably.

Cleansers -Aesop - Fabulous Face Cleanser
janjarang 5/22/2012 8:53:00 AM
I really like Aesop but this cleanser is rather useless esp. for eye make-up, mascara, or thick foundation/concealer. My skin didn't feel very clean afterward and I had to wash my face again with other products to get everything off. I'm more of an all-in-one person so clearly this cleanser doesn't work for me. It is not cheap either, taking into consideration that there are a lot of affordable product out there. Sorry, Aesop.

Gels/Soaps -Aesop - Resurrection Aromatique Hand Wash
janjarang 4/16/2012 10:50:00 AM
I know it is officially a hand wash but you can also use this for body wash as well. The smell is gorgeous & relaxing. More importantly, it doesn't dry your skin out. You only need a little bit of gel and it foams very well. I use it generally for hands but also for the body when I feel like having a little bit of a treat. The bottle is very easy to use and I also love the design of the brand. I really need to find a good substitute for this otherwise I might be going broke - it is rather pricey! For now, I'm addicted!

Treatments -Aesop - Parsley Seed Anti Oxidant Serum (Face)
janjarang 4/16/2012 10:43:00 AM
I use the serum to boost my night time moisturizer (which is currently also Aesop - Primrose Facial Hydrating Cream) as it is still a cold month in Europe. I also use it in combination with my day cream (that has SPF). The results of these combination are always wonderful. My face would have a natural glow and smells really lovely! My husband also uses it as a post shave moisturizer and it really comforts his skin. The price is quite all right. I have used many more expensive stuff in the past that didn't deliver very well so this one actually saves me some. The con is the bottle: it is rather cumbersome to use.

Moisturizers -Aesop - Primrose Facial Hydrating Cream
janjarang 4/16/2012 10:30:00 AM
I love the smell of this moisturizer. It makes me look forward to my beauty routine each day. I use it as my night cream as it has no SPF. The texture takes a little bit of massaging until it is fully absorbed but that is not a problem for me. Currently, it is still early spring and the weather is drying my skin (I'm originally from a tropical country but now living in Europe). The cream alone seems to be not hydrating enough but when I put the Parsley Seed Serum first (also from Aesop), the combination works very well. PRO: I’m very glad my sensitive skin got no allergic reaction from the cream. It is also gentle enough that it didn’t cause irritation around my eyes area. The price is quite ok, considering there are many other expensive brands out there. My skin has also improved slightly after one week. Finally, the smell is divine! I think I would purchase it again. CON: I wish it comes in a tube. The glass container looks nice but really isn’t practical at all (esp. if you have a 120ml one like mine). Also, I wish it moisturizes a bit better for my dry skin esp. during the cold months – maybe I should have chosen the Camellia Nut Facial Hydrating Cream or use this one only during warmer months. However, in combination with the serum, it works fine. Finally, it takes a bit to sink into the skin (can be solved with a little bit of massaging).

Moisturizers -Clinique - Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion
janjarang 12/8/2011 9:32:00 AM
I think if you are a low key person, and only apply moisturizer during the night or after washing your face, this product might be right for you. I originally bought this since it was on a big sale. I tried it as a night moisturizer and I didn't like it. It smells weird for me (even though the package says that it has no perfume). Also, I needed something thicker at night to really boost my skin. For me I felt like it wasn’t moisturizing enough. However, with my husband, who has just started using moisturizer and such, it works quite well. He uses it almost daily after washing his face or if it's a cold day, he applies lightly on his face before going out. The result is great on him. I can say that his skin is now softer and looks better in general. In the end, I keep on buying this for my hubby since it's not that expensive, has no smell (my husband prefers this since he doesn't want his face to smell like a lady), and it works for a low key beauty purpose.

Lipstick -Tom Ford - Pink Dusk
janjarang 12/8/2011 9:22:00 AM
I love the color (compliments my tan), the classic and fancy packaging, the smell of the lipstick (I think it's very light vanilla but I can't say for sure - nevertheless it smells great), the smoothness, etc. The only thing I find a bit inconvenient is that, you need a bit of time for the lipstick to ‘melt’ after applying on your lips, esp. in winter. It won't blend right away and it looks awkward in the beginning. However, this normally solves itself in 5 minutes – just not good for a quick touch up if you’re at a party. Overall, I love Tom Ford’s cosmetic products and I think I’ll buy it again (when my pocket can affords).

Treatments -Guerlain - Midnight Secret
janjarang 12/8/2011 9:12:00 AM
I don't think I'll buy it again. I can afford this product but the problem is, the result isn't that spectacular. Moreover, when I use it every night, my cheeks start developing dry patches (esp. around the cheek bone). It is probably too strong or maybe I'm allergic to the perfume they use for the serum (smells strongly like roses). Well, some of you might say I should use it only for those late nights... but what's the use of having so many serum bottles on the shelves - one for day, another one for night, and another one for late night (???). I don't like that. It's too complicated and too expensive. Keep in mind that even these preservative filled serums have expiry dates (yes, although it smells like roses, it is full of preservatives). So if it takes more than 1 year to finish the thing, you better think about it. The bottle also makes it hard to get everything out in the end. Although the result is not so bad, it doesn't worth it in the end. If you're willing to pay for the price, I'd suggest you try Estee Lauder's Advanced Night Repair 'Concentrate' - better results with roughly the same price.

Moisturizers -Good Skin - Exten-10 Instant Youth Boosting Moisturizer SPF 15
janjarang 12/8/2011 8:53:00 AM
I like that this day moisturizer contains SPF (UVA/UVB), comes in a tube (more hygienic and very easy for transport), and has no perfume (useless smell that only causes irritation for my sensitive skin). It has no fancy packaging but it actually works! Forget about 'looking 10.4 years younger'. That's just another advertising tactic. This cream won't deliver that - or any other cream, for that matter. However, I notice that my skin is better, brown spots (mainly from acne in the past) seem to fade, and it generally moisturizes quite well even in winter (but I have to say that I'm using serum and liquid foundation as well. At night, I use other brand of thick cream). Finally, when compared with other brands, the price of Exten is much more reasonable. For me, it's a keeper.

Moisturizers -Guerlain - orchidee imperiale
janjarang 7/13/2011 11:05:00 AM
The cream is way too strong for my sensitive skin. My skin felt a bit burned after use. My cheeks started to develop dry patches after a few days. Good thing I stopped before the damage is done. I paused the use and tried again one more time. Same result... I understand that everybody has different skin type. However, I wouldn't recommend this for people with sensitive skin like mine. Better get some sample and test it with your skin first since this is very expensive.

Masks -Clarins - Super Restorative Replenishing Comfort Mask
janjarang 6/24/2011 10:44:00 AM
The mask is quite rich and creamy. It smells nice. It was a bit tingling on my face when I used it for the first time. I know that it’s supposed to be anti-wrinkle but maybe it was too strong for me. My skin didn’t feel very relaxed afterward but I tried it again just to see the result. The second time I used it (about a week later), my skin couldn’t take it anymore. I started developing dry patches on my face. A part of my cheek felt like it has been burned, very irritating and even a bit painful. It took a while for those patches to go away. Absolutely horrible. I don’t know if it works better for matured skin or for other people in general but I’ll never buy this again. For sensitive skin, please be careful.

Polishes -H & M - Nail Polish (in general)
janjarang 6/24/2011 10:29:00 AM
Color? Yes. Price? Yes. Quality? No. I love the choice of colors they offer but sorry to say that the quality of the nail polishes is just horrible. You have to apply it again and again in order to get the exact color, takes long to get dried (my nails get messed up every time before it gets completely dry), doesn’t last, the brush sucks, and finally it often bubbles – no matter how careful I try. I’m a very clumsy and busy person so this doesn’t work for me. All the nail polishes I bought from H&M just end up sitting there on the shelf. I’ll stick with O.P.I. (sure, that one is much more expensive but it delivers. O.P.I. worths the price in the end since I really use it. Try it and you won’t regret).
