Fragrances -Earthen Treasures - White Sugar
janina73 6/20/2008 7:07:00 PM
This is one of my favorites from my last ET order. The scent is Pink Sugar's sister! If you're a fan of Pink Sugar, you will surely love this slight variant. I have this is in the EDP Purse Mister size which is so convenient as it is a slim tube that you can easily carry around. The staying power is quite good for an e-tailer perfume. I wouldn't mind getting it in other products but probably won't for now as there are so many others I want to try! From website: Ultra sweet vanilla blended with your favorite pink and a bit of candy.

Lip Gloss -L'Oreal - Color Juice in Copper Glow
janina73 4/14/2008 1:35:00 AM
Wow, I can't believe there aren't more reviews on this CJ! This is a beautiful warm apricot with fine gold glitter which gives the illusion of fuller lips. It's a 2 dimensional, kind of a complex color for a CJ. I agree with llse33 about the great color pay-off too, compared to other CJs. This is definitely a fav CJ for me (the other being Watermelon Crush).

Lipstick -MAC - Slimshine in Ultra-Elegant
janina73 4/8/2008 10:58:00 PM
I adore Slimshines! They go on smooth and are truly shiny so you don't need lipgloss on top. Ultra Elegant was the first one I bought from this line. It is a creamy caramel color with no frost. It's a great lip color for when you have dramatic eyes or just want a natural look overall. As with all buildable sheers, you have to use more of the product and it does run out quicker than regular lipsticks.

Lipstick -MAC - Slimshine in Assertive
janina73 4/8/2008 8:58:00 PM
I adore Slimshines! They go on smooth and are truly shiny so you don't need lipgloss on top. Assertive is a warm frosty coral/bronzy color with a slight gold hue that brightens up my olive skin. As with all buildable sheers, you have to use more of the product and it does run out quicker than regular lipsticks.

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - The Body Collection - Coconut Body Spray
janina73 7/25/2007 2:46:00 AM
This is an Australian bath and body drugstore brand which I always bypass as none of the scents are anywhere as good as any etailers, BBW, etc. However, for some reason I thought I'd give the Coconut body spray a chance and was quite impressed. I sprayed it on myself and then left the store wanting to test the drydown. It's quite long lasting for a body spray and I went back to buy it the same day. I'll admit it's a *teeny* bit plasticky but for the most part it actually reminds me of a sweeter version BBW Creamy Coconut. I think this scent should be re-named as Sugared Coconut. A cool drugstore find at $4.95 so keep this in mind Aussies!

Lipstick -Rimmel - Rich Moisture - Honey Honey
janina73 7/24/2007 11:51:00 PM
I am really impressed by Rimmel lipsticks and own quite a few of the Lasting Color range. Honey-Honey is in the Rich Moisture range and is the only one I know of that has glitter in it. It doesn't come out sheer at all for me, rather a dark bronze/brown on my pigmented lips. In fact, sometimes I find it too dark and mute it out with a similar colored lipgloss, but girls that is probably just me - I'm scared of "dark" colors! I do like the fine glitter which makes it not look one-dimensional, which in turn helps give the illusion of lips looking slightly bigger than what they are. This lipstick does not have the usual scent that Rimmel lipsticks have, which I was surprised about. It is no more moisturizing than the Lasting Color range but they bump up the price by $2 for this range. Honey-Honey reminds me of a lot of Maybelline's Watershine Diamonds lipstick range.

Skincare - Body -Bath and Body Works - Sweet Pea products
janina73 7/16/2007 12:05:00 AM
I am very on and off with this scent. When I first sniffed it all those years ago, I absolutely loved it. I guess it's kind of a younger girl's scent, or maybe that's just my experience with it. Like it's name suggests, it is extremely sweet, a floral but a fresh fruity floral; kind of akin to the sweet VS Garden Secrets scents. However, it doesn't smell like the sweet pea flower! It's very girly and I always think of the color pink when I sniff it. I have the splash, lotion and the now discontinued body scrub (the type that was in the squeeze bottle). All of these products are strongly scented and when I tire of the scent for myself, I just use the splash as a bathroom air freshener. Sweet Pea is a scent that I think is not offensive and will always be one of BBW's classics in my mind. BBW lists its notes as top: sweet pea, watery pear, logan berry, rhubarb; middle: cyclamen, freesia, raspberry; base: musk

Lotions/ Creams -Bath and Body Works - toasted hazelnut lotion
janina73 7/15/2007 11:54:00 PM
Put me in the 'love' category of this love or hate scent. Dunno if they changed the formula of the lotion but I find this to be just slightly thicker than the current BBW lotions. I, too am disappointed it was discontinued and one of the reviewers below had a good suggestion about it being brought back as a holiday scent. It does remind me of that time of the year as it's a very comforting and warm winter scent. The main note I get with this is nutty. It is very strong and long lasting which is good as you don't need too much. (I wear it for the scent rather than the moisturizing properties), I have never had to buy the splash because of the nice strong scent of the lotion. The only other Toasted Hazelnut products I have is the body wash and the now discontinued body scrubs (the type that came in the squeeze bottle). With my skin chemistry, I notice that Toasted Hazelnut smells better and better on me as the day goes on. It's nice to get a whiff of it during my work day.

Lip Gloss -L'Oreal - ColourJuice in Honey Pop
janina73 7/9/2007 9:53:00 PM
I was very happy to find a lone LE Honey Pop that was still left in the stores. I love that CJs are pigmented enough to wear alone and still show a substantial amount of colour. I also like the med-thick consistency and staying power of CJs. As described adequately below, Honey Pop is a nude tending more to the pink side. Looks great when wearing dark e/s colours.

Fragrances -Anna Sui - Secret Wish Magic Romance
janina73 7/9/2007 9:31:00 PM
My first impression when I sniffed this was "sweet and pretty". It smelled unique to me and I rushed back the next day to purchase it. However, the more I wear it I realize it's not a very sophisticated sniff and I can see how people might find this a younger girls' perfume. I still like it and am *considering* buying the matching lotion, although I probably wouldn't repurchase when I use it up. I do reach for it quite often as it's winter at the moment and I find it a nice pick-me-up scent. The bottle is darling, complete with the fairy lid. It is shaped just like Secret Wish except the perfume is pink instead of blue.
Top notes: Bergamot, Sicilian Lemon, Melon Middle notes: Orange Blossom, Tuberose, Jasmine, Lotus Blossom Base notes: Rosewood, Coconut, Amber, Musk

Lotions/ Creams -Bath and Body Works - Pear Blossom Body Lotion
janina73 10/4/2006 9:40:00 PM
IMO better than BBW's last pear scent, Pearberry, in which I thought the pear scent was lost in the mix. Pear Blossom is, as its name suggests, more florally than fruity. I also prefer it to VS's pear scent which smells too strong on me now. This is a nice lighter alternative with a very fresh smell. I'd like to try the shower gel next.

Lipstick -Rimmel - Lasting Finish - Coral in Gold
janina73 8/22/2006 10:51:00 PM
Ok, in the store this lipstick looked almost flourescent orange BUT for some reason I thought what the heck, I'll try it. Very scary in the tube but wow - it's so pretty on! A bright orange that can also be worn sheer. It really does brighten up my olive skin. For someone who is afraid to wear reds, this is a good alternative. I don't mind the sweet scent of these lipsticks, which I know some people have complained about. Anyway if you like orange/coral/peach toned lipsticks, don't pass this color by because looks are deceiving!

Eye Shadow -Jane - Eye Zing in Brownie Points
janina73 8/11/2006 1:33:00 AM
This is an absolute staple for me, have been using it for about 4 years and will continue to. Not much to add to others' accurate descriptions of the color - I just know it's the darkest and mattest brown I've found. I use it wet (for a liner) or dry (for a shadow). I just hope Jane never discontinues this shade, as they did with my other fav, Magic Mushroom.

Lipstick -L'Oreal - Color Riche Star Secret Aishwarya Beige
janina73 8/10/2006 10:02:00 PM
This is part of L'Oreal's Star Secrets range, of which there are 8 lipstick shades formulated for 8 different stars. Each lipstick has the star's autograph in gold writing on the black case. It costs slightly more than the regular Colour Riche range. This one is Aishwarya Rai's shade called Beige Nuance. When I first saw this range, I instantly thought that Aishwarya's shade would be the best for me as we have similar coloring. However, I was disappointed with this shade especially compared to the others in this range. It is a very boring flat matte neutral light-medium brown. If that's what you're after it's good as it is very moisturizing, but I find myself far often reaching for the more complex colors in this range such as Gong Li's Coral (my fav) and Laetitia Casta's Champagne (my 2nd fav).

Lip Gloss -She Australia - Lip Wand - Lilith
janina73 8/10/2006 9:31:00 PM
*Very* impressed with this lip gloss. Lilith is a metallic peach/coral shade that would complement fair to olive skin. It is pigmented enough to be worn on its own, and also looks stunning over peach/coral lipsticks. It has a nice scent - not plastic and artificial. It also tastes a bit sweet. The packaging is the best - it's very slim (good for popping in your purse) and the applicator is a BRUSH! Yes! Consistency is middle of the road - not too thin, not too thick. Will definitely buy this again.
