Liquid -E.L.F. - Flawless Finish Foundation
janeyeyre 12/15/2012 10:41:00 PM
This has become my favorite foundation ever! I'm 'of an age' at which most foundations are settling into my pores or slipping off my face or looking too matte (sigh, I remember being young when my only goal was matte skin....). Porcelain, with its yellow undertones, turned out to be the perfect color for me. And, at the end of the day, when I'm exhausted, I can look in the mirror and my makeup is still perfect--like I just put it on! Dang--it makes me feel revived to see my face looking refreshed! And for only $6!!!

Treatments -Olay - Regenerist Reversal Treatment Foam
janeyeyre 8/8/2009 8:37:00 PM
I have to agree with 'kamsmorg'' review on this one. This was the first moisturizer (why do they call it a treatment?) that made my makeup look very fresh all day long. Put it on at 7 a.m., come home at 7 p.m. and my face looks as dewy and fresh as if I'd just put on my makeup. I sort of hate to wash it off at night, it looks so good. When's the last time THAT happened to you? But it IS spendy for drugstore fare ($26 - $30). I waited until it went on sale....and then used an Olay coupon I found in the Sunday newspaper.

Self Tanners -Jergens - natural glow express medim/tan
janeyeyre 2/22/2009 2:59:00 PM
As a natural (= pastey) blonde I have become an expert at self-tanners. I am very impressed with Jergen's Natural Glow Express. Reading the bottle you think you'll need more than one application. I was surprised to wake up to a pretty dark tan the next day. Hence the EXPRESS part of the name. (BTW I never waste my time with the 'light' versions of self-tanners. I need a tan and I need it now. I don't need to look 'sort of' tan) It has been 5 days and the tan still looks pretty good....with no reapplication. I put this on before bed. Let it dry before putting on my jammies. I didn't exfoliate. Fantastic looking brown tan. The secret to self-tanners is this: You have to be absolutely methodical and make sure you don't miss any spots otherwise you end up whining about looking 'blotchy' and blaming it on the self-tanner. It's YOU. Self-tanning lotion was not made for impatient & non-detail oriented people. You people should go to a Mystic Tan tanning booth where it's done for you. Besides the wonderful tan I got, this was also moisturizing--a first for one step tanning. Usually self-tannrs dry out your skin. This is bar none, the best sunless tanner I have used.

Blush -Shiseido - Accentuating Color Stick in Rouge
janeyeyre 9/21/2008 11:35:00 PM
I will add my glowing review to this blush. I have the same skin tone as everyone else here....fair and cool. This blush looks so natural and lasts all day long. I also use it on my lips--goes on like a dream. Then I add some gloss over the top as it goes on matte on your lips. I used to use Stila magnolia convertible color but that color was discontinued. This shiseido blush is even better--hooray!!

Liquid -Revlon - Age Defying Light Makeup with Botafirm SPF30 [DISCONTINUED]
janeyeyre 9/14/2008 1:25:00 PM
My 30th highschool reunion was this summer and I tried every foundation to find the 'right look.' It has really occurred to me this year that the heavy, masky foundations just make me look older and look truly terrible by the end of the day. I had just about given up on my search for the perfect foundation when I found this on sale at my pharmacy. The moment I tried it I knew this was The One. Natural coverage, but there IS some coverage, 30 SPF--you gotta love that, and the stuff looks the same when I get home from work as when I walked out the door. So natural it lets my skin shine through but just enough coverage to look dewy and polished. Ahhh, I was 16 again! I wore this to the 5K run at my highschool reunion as well as to the formal dinner/dance. It's just that good. I felt confident--the photographs turned out great. I just don't think it would have looked that way in the heavier foundations I have been wearing up to this point. I'm pale, but tan easily so have the 'light' color. It seems the colors run a little darker than normal. Err on the side of lighter rather than dark when you chose. Wonderful stuff--I couldn't be more pleased!

Skincare - Face -Better Botanicals - Sandalwood Moisturizer (for Normal-Oily Facial Skin)
janeyeyre 8/18/2008 2:11:00 AM
I am of the age where moisturizer is the the most important part of my beauty routine. I have tried so many of them.....so many disappointments! But every time I come back to this one I'm so happy with the results. As others have said here, it imparts a certain translucent quality to my skin, something I haven't seen since I was 16. I actually purchased this for the sandalwood fragrance, which I do not find overwhelming at all. What I didn't expect was the glow I woke up with in the morning! The reason I keep trying other moisturizers is because the watery texture of this lotion keeps making me think it's not heavy duty enough. The truth is, this is the perfect moisturizer for me. My skin never looked better.

Primer/ Corrector -Rimmel - Fix and Perfect Foundation Primer
janeyeyre 5/6/2008 2:21:00 AM
I was so thrilled to discover this product so I rushed onto Makeup Alley to see if everyone else was as thrilled.....apparently not! I've tried other pore minimizers, Clinique's, Benefit's Dr. Feelgood--they all make my foundation slip right off--I look like I've been running a marathon in 100 degree weather by the end of one hour. I was afraid to try another slippery pore minimizer but the price (50% off at my local drugstore) was right. I loved it the first day I tried it. My foundation stayed fresh looking after 10 hours--that is a miracle! My pores were much less visible! This is as excited as I've been about anything in a long time! Okay, it's orange and I'm pale (my nickname was 'Casper' in highschool) but the stuff disappeared into my skin. My foundation was the only color I saw when I was done. Hint: don't slather the stuff on, apply thin layer in the t-zone. I can't believe I found such a great product for so little money. Yea! Okay, I removed two lippys because it turns out you can see the orange through your makeup. A shame because it did make my pores disappear. :(

Eye Shadow -Neutrogena - Mineral Sheers for Eyes-ALL
janeyeyre 3/26/2008 1:54:00 AM
Here's an eyeshadow that doesn't end up in my eyelid creases and is still radiant by the time I get home from work. I am so happy I stumbled upon this stuff. It took me a bit to figure out how to SLIDE it open but it's an attractive package--very simple. I purchased the Quartz shade. I get a kick out of people who write, 'I put the light color here and and dark color there...' because I just run my brush across the whole thing. The combined color is very cool. Has anyone else noticed this stuff is disappearing from the shelves....replaced with a new Neutrogena eyeshadow 'duo' thing? ARGH-the minute I find something I like they discontinue it!!

Mascara -Rimmel - Volume Flash
janeyeyre 3/26/2008 1:37:00 AM
I have been looking and looking for a mascara that added volume and didn't end up under my eyes at the end of the day, heck, before lunch. Found it! I had already purchased Volume Flash when I read all the not-so-great reviews here--I very nearly didn't open it. SOOO glad I did. I have pathetic thin eyelashes (I'm blonde) and the volume this mascara adds is incredible. I also apparently have oily eyes because just about every mascara falls off of my eyelashes--not so with Volume Flash--the stuff WEARS. Also, I got my tube half-price at my local drug store--you can't beat that!

Lip Gloss -Chanel - Pin Up Glossimer [DISCONTINUED]
janeyeyre 9/9/2007 2:22:00 AM
I'll add to the raves for this lip gloss--the stuff is beautiful and lasts & lasts. However, as a fair-complected blonde I would never wear Pin Up alone--too pale. I start with Chanel Hydrabase lipstick in Perplex (which is completely gorgeous by itself) and add a thin layer of Glossimer Pin Up over this. The Pin Up makes my lips 'pop!' Thank you Chanel SA who taught me this!

Self Tanners -Mary Kay - Sunless Tanning Lotion
janeyeyre 7/8/2007 1:29:00 AM
I have tried every self-tanner known to (wo)man; Neutrogena, Coppertone, Almay, spray on, two-step, creams, gels. Mary Kay self-tanner is the best. It doesn't look freaky after two days, it doesn't come off in the shower, it doesn't go on streaky, it's not orange. What it does is last and last and give a natural looking tan. You can apply it about once every five days and keep a great tan. A lot cheaper than 'Mystic Tan' (which I've also tried). A side benefit: I keep my Mary Kay sales person happy. All their other skin care products make me break out--can't stand 'em but I'd go to the mat for their Sunnless Tanning Lotion!
