Treatments -Skin Biology - CP Serum

I've been convinced by copper peptides. I was hoping to get rid of some keratosis and acne scars as at 28, I luckily had no wrinkles yet. About a month and a half later of (very, very sparingly) using this product, I am just floored by the results. I still have keratosis and acne scars are lightening, but I don't expect those to go away so quickly. What amazed me was that my skin, which I thought was already pretty good, had improved remarkably. It was less slack, and my jaw line has tightened!

It's hard to describe, but my skin just feels better, like it's more resilient and healthier. And my jaw line.. that's just something else - I thought there wasn't much I could do about it and grudgingly accepted it as part of getting older, but this took at least a year or so from the jaw line slack. I certainly look forward to seeing my jaw line tightening more in the coming months.

That said, I do offer some advice and warning. It's so easy to overuse this. I noticed my eyelids get slack if I overused this on that area. This would go away if I lay off the CP's on my eyelids for a couple of days and used some DMAE. I use the serum - 2 drops diluted in a small quarter-sized puddle of distilled water in my palm. That would go on my face and neck. I started this once every 2-3 days, then every other day.. now working my way to 2 days on CP's 1 day off. Every morning after using the CP at night, I would use either exfol cream (2% BHA's) or use those microdermabrasion creams to physically exfoliate. I can't emphasize enough how important it is to exfoliate when using CP's and how important it is to not overuse this product.

I realize from reading the reviews this isn't for everyone, but the website provides sample sizes for an affordable price, so I recommend trying this out first before commiting to full-sized products. It seems to be a miracle product for some and not others.

Skincare - Face -Skin Biology - Day cover

I'm still on the fence with this. It's a pretty good product, the texture is fine... and I've found CP's to be my HG. The only problem is I find this cream is a bit too oily for me (understandable with all the squalane in this), and I would also prefer a higher SPF. Maybe during the winter months when there is no sunlight and my skin is drier, I may use it, but I highly doubt I'd use it year round.

Moisturizers -Olay - Total Effects Anti-Aging Anti-Blemish Moisturizer [DISCONTINUED]
rated 2 of 5
jaimmie 9/22/2005 4:21:00 AM

Wow, so many good reviews for this products, but for some odd reason, it didn't agree with my skin. Yes, it is anti-acne, which is very good, but am I the only one who thought this anti-ageing moisturizer is EXTREMELY drying? I was hoping to finally find an anti-acne moisturizer that well, didn't leave my skin dry, and would help my 28yr old skin look good, but this left my skin so dry that I was starting to develop forehead creases and laugh lines, which I certainly didn't have before.

I suppose if you have oily acne-prone skin you might consider this, but if you've got acne and not very oily (mine's combination-dry) skin, I'd suggest using a different anti-acne moisturizer.

Eyeliner -MAC - MAC Powerpoint eyeliner
rated 2 of 5
jaimmie 9/3/2005 2:09:00 AM

In the search for an eyeliner that would not smudge or crease on my "oiliest eyelids known to man" the MAC counter lady showed my the Powerpoint liners (while I was looking at the potted fluidlines). I opted for this since it was a pencil, and I knew it'd be easier to apply than the stuff in the pot (though I'm still sorely tempted to buy a fluidline pot in black). I bought PERMAPLUM in the powerpoint liner, and while it's certainly not an 8 hr liner, it worked so much better than any pencil liner I've ever tried before.

Edit: I ended up returning this product. After wearing it out for a day, I got racoon eyes. I traded it in for MAC's Fluidline instead... which is still not the best, but has a bit better staying power. So if you have oily eyelids? Don't bother w/powerpoints.

Lip Gloss -Hard Candy - Key To My Heart Keychain (l/g duo)
rated 3 of 5
jaimmie 10/26/2004 10:07:00 PM

*lovely* lipgloss, and the colours really show up well. It's not too sticky (which is great) but very moisturizing. What I hate is the package. I thought it was too cute and couldn't resist it - thought the keychain was so handy too so I'd never forget to bring my lipgloss... but 1st time I opened the cube, I snaped one of the hinges off! What a pain! Ah well.. I'd still purchase agian just because it's a great, fairly inexpensive gloss.. I wish they'd improve the packaging though.

Lip Gloss -Urban Decay - Lube in a Tube

It's a nice, lightly tinted lip balm, but like many others, I can't get over the horrible taste/scent of the product. ick.

Lotions/ Creams -L'Occitane - Shea Butter Foot Cream
rated 5 of 5
jaimmie 9/21/2004 3:23:00 AM

Packaging is pretty bad, the metal punctures easily, but it's my only complaint. This is the best foot cream I've ever tried, and despite the high price tag, I think it's very worth it! Plus, I love strong lavender scents, so it's a plus with this item!

Conditioner -Nioxin - Scalp Therapy
rated 5 of 5
jaimmie 8/4/2004 6:29:00 AM

I've been using the Nioxin system on and off for about 2 years, and all I have to say is that they REALLY do work to help thinning hair. It takes about 3-4 months, so you have to be patient, but I saw new hair growth, and it's amazing because my hair would fall out by the handful.

Shampoo -Nioxin - Bionutrient Protectives Cleanser (formerly 1C cleanser)
rated 5 of 5
jaimmie 8/4/2004 6:27:00 AM

I've used this shampoo on and off for 2 years (along with the scalp therapy), and it REALLY does work. At first I didn't notice much, but after about 3-4 months, I was surprised to see small, short *NEW* hairs growing on my scalp. I was always worried about my hair thinning, but this seems to really help, you just need to be patient. I just wish it wasn't so expensive, so I could afford to use it consistently.

Moisturizers -Avon - Beautifully Protected Daily UV Moisturizer SPF 30
rated 1 of 5
jaimmie 6/22/2004 4:08:00 AM

As you can tell, I'm not happy with this product. I've got normal-oily skin, and this left me VERY, VERY shiny. It looked like I had an oil slick on my face. Further, after using for a couple of days, I noticed that this gave my skin a very strange, slightly rough texture (this is the only thing I changed in my skincare), and I saw larger pores on my face!

Oh well, I'll just use up my tube as a sunscreen for my arms/hands. It's too bad, I was really hoping for a 2-in-1 moisturizer & sunscreen with a higher SPF than 15, but I've had no luck so far, and was hoping this might be it. So the search continues, and I'll keep using a seperate moisturizer & sunscreen for now.

Sunscreen -Kanebo - Freshel White C, UV day protector spf 35+++
rated 4 of 5
jaimmie 5/8/2004 3:43:00 AM

Like most Asian sunscreens, this has a great, runny texture which is a dream to apply. However, I didn't like how my face felt after putting this on, plus it's a tinted sunscreen, which isn't really for me, as I prefer untinted ones. Would be good for those who want a very light textured, tinted sunscreen.

Concealers -Signature Club A - Big 7 Wonderwheel Compact
rated 1 of 5
jaimmie 4/6/2004 3:40:00 AM

Can't comment much on price since I got this in a set, but the product is awful, it's so thick and greasy and heavy. It's not easy to apply at all, and the foundation colour comes in *one* shade, way too dark for me.

Lotions/ Creams -Avon - CelluSculpt [DISCONTINUED]
rated 4 of 5
jaimmie 4/4/2004 3:32:00 AM

This does work, I used it on my upper arms for a couple weeks, and it smoothed out the skin somewhat, but I just can't bring myself to use it anymore. I can't stand how it smells, too heavy and perfume-y, why can't they just make this unscented??

Edit: Avon re-formulated this, so it has a much lighter, crisp scent instead of their old heavy perfumy floral!! I just got myself a new full sized tube and will purchase more when I run out! So happy that Avon changed the scent.

Skincare - Face -Kanebo - Sun proguard UV Ultra Protect SPF 50+ PA+++
rated 4 of 5
jaimmie 4/3/2004 6:08:00 PM

Whoa, after I put this on, and looked at myself in the mirror, it looked like I had put on some white face makeup. I had to rub more onto my neck so my colouring would look even, lol. Nice sunscreen though, I love how runny it is and how easy it is to apply, and is matte and NOT greasy! My skin feels nice after putting this on. As above, my only one complaint is there's a very significant white cast.

Toners -Kose - Medicated Sekkisei
rated 4 of 5
jaimmie 4/3/2004 6:26:00 AM

Very expensive, but very pretty packaging. :) After using this for a bit over a week, I can say that I am happy with it. It didn't fade my acne scars much, but maybe brought it down a shade at most. I guess what I'm trying to say is it's not a miracle product, but it's still very good. Like a lot of people here, this broke me out for about 4-5 days, little whiteheads on my chin/jawline, but it seems to have calmed down now. This does *nothing* for me as a mask, I don't see a difference afterwards, but it is working for me as a (very expensive) toner. My skin looks even, and luminous after continued use over a week, it's non-drying for me, and this product smells wonderful. Price:Effect ratio is high, which is why I only gave it a rating of 4. Will repurchase if I'm not squeezed for cash. Edit: So I'm now on my 2nd 360ml bottle of this stuff. I keep thinking it's way too expensive, but when I ran out and stopped using this product for about a week, I noticed a significant difference in my skin - it didn't look quite as bright and smooth. So I guess I'll continue to repurchase, despite the ridiculously high price. Edit 2: So I stopped using this stuff for about a half year since I'm a skincare addict and tried a whole host of other stuff... needless to say, I'm back now and onto yet another 360mL bottle of this stuff. I have no idea what ingredient in this makes my skin look *awesome* but until I find an alternative, I think I'll keep using this.
