Lipstick -L'Oreal - Infallible Never Fail Lipcolor Compact in #200 Teaberry
jadkin 2/24/2012 8:42:00 PM
Will NEVER buy infallible again. I followed the directions exactly and started to drink some wine. I saw a ring of colour wherever my lips met the glass. I was able to RUB it off with my fingers! Crazy. Won't consider repurchasing.

Mascara -L'Oreal - Voluminous False Fiber Lashes
jadkin 2/24/2012 8:37:00 PM
The effect of this mascara is good, but it really wears off by the end of the day and flakes easily. Dries out very quickly in the tube too. I am on my second tube and will not repurchase. Going back to telescopic!

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Panoxyl Antibacterial Acne Aquagel 5%
jadkin 9/19/2010 9:59:00 PM
My skin is oily and acne-prone. I need to be really careful with what I put on it. After reading several books on acne, I discovered that a good BP product is one of the cornerstones of an anti-acne skin regimen. This product allows me to wear BP underneath my make-up during the day, as I wear a vitamin A product at night (and that would be too harsh, even for me!). This doesn't flake and really helps me stay free of cystic, inflammatory acne! Will definitely continue to purchase.

Self Tanners -L'Oreal - Sublime Bronze Gelee in medium deep
jadkin 2/11/2009 12:35:00 PM
this is a review for the "medium" shade. i will NOT be buying this again! i really like the gelee in "deep", but its so hard to find, so i settled for medium. after trying this several times, even decreasing the amount drastically, i still get splotches and uneven markings. i apply it in circles, which works with just about every other brand i've tried. l'oreal's deep has a beautiful bronze color to it.. and this one's color is nice, if it was even! but since its not, i'll just snatch up the "deep" gelee wherever i can find it!

Treatments -Neostrata - Skin Renewal Peel Solution
jadkin 1/11/2009 10:57:00 PM
first off, this product smells delicious- like sweet almond or something. i received a sample of it at my neighbourhood pharma plus; the lady was kind enough to give me enough to get a week's worth of treatments. after soaking the cotton ball with product, i wiped it all over my face and proceeded to massage for skin for the requisite 10-15 seconds. i was surprised to feel the liquid's grainy texture. after 5 minutes the first time, i rinsed my skin clean and followed with a good moisturizer. the next morning, i noticed a difference in my skin. it looked more clear and definitely more radiant; i was so happy! i have fair, sensitive, oily skin and did not encounter any reaction to this peel. i used it again 3 days later, this time for 10 minutes, and the good outcomes keep on coming. once i am done using up my sample, i will definitely buy a bottle of this (its the new version- slim glass bottle with dropper).

Styling Products -Sunsilk - Waves of Envy Sea Mist [DISCONTINUED]
jadkin 8/4/2008 9:41:00 PM
i have long, fine-but-lots-of-it, slightly wavy hair. i used to use john friedas salt spray for blondes (WHYWHYWHY DID YOU DISCONTINUE THIS???) that smelled like coconuts and gave great texture and definition.. so of course i've been on the prowl for a comparable product.. at a good price. this is the first i've tried and i'm not disappointed, but i'm not incredibly pleased, either. it does provide good texture without any grease, but it dries out my hair a little. after i'm out of the shower, i spray my hair with leave-in conditioner then this. i scrunch a bit, spray some hairspray, and i'm good to go. my hair dries with a gentle wave. i'll use up this bottle and perhaps try sunlit waves next.

Lotions/ Creams -Olay - Complete Night Fortifying Cream
jadkin 8/4/2008 9:35:00 PM
i am only 21 years old, just out of my first (and only) round of accutane a year ago. i wanted a cream with antioxidants, noncomedogenic, without any vitamin c to avoid interfering with my glycolic toner... and found this (very tricky criteria, trust me!). i have fair/oily/sensitive skin that can be prone to breakouts if i'm not careful. me=lucky ;) this works quite well on my skin. i don't see miracles, but i do have soft skin in the morning. its enough for now, so i will continue to buy until i get the "itch" to try something new. worth it when you can find it on sale!

Scrubs -Olay - Daily Facials Clarity Daily Scrub
jadkin 8/4/2008 9:31:00 PM
i received this product as a freebie when i purchased aveeno body wash and thought i'd give it a try. nothing to lose, right? hmm. i have fairly sensitive skin, so much so that my derm told me to stay away from physical exfoliators and stick with chemicals (e.g. glycolic acid). i wanted a product to bring to the cottage to take off the sunscreen and sweat, but this was still too harsh. it made me breakout in surface pimples within a day of using it. i'll stick with my reversa toner, which exfoliates with glycolic acid.

unbelievable protection from my local sdm! i sat outside in 23 degree (celsius) weather, with a high UV index, for 4 hours. NO colour, whatsoever! i came back inside as pale as ever. this covers both UVA and UVB rays, is waterproof, smells like coconut, and is non-comedogenic/hypoallergenic. also contains vitamin e, green tea extract, and aloe vera. i took off one lippie because it is pretty greasy going on. as long as i keep this to my body and not my face, its all good! will definitely repurchase and i highly recommend it.

AMAZING dry shampoo! i bought a whole whack of this from bulk barn and put it into a spice container. i sprinkle a little on a natural-bristle brush and comb through my roots and bangs. poof! oilies are gone. incredible. so cheap and effective. love it when i find something like this :D BONUS: i applied some of this to my face with a blush brush and it instantly soaked up all sheen.

Treatments -Biosilk - Silk Therapy
jadkin 4/22/2008 10:46:00 AM
this product performed just "okay" for me. i have fairly fine, coarse hair, but LOTS of it. so much so that i have to apply any de-frizzing product in layers when i do my hair. i put a pea-sized dollop through my bottom-of-the-shoulder-blade-length hair because of the many warnings of overdoing on the boards. but that wasn't enough. i put another 'pea' on a lower layer, another on a mid layer, then smoothed it on top when my hair was completely dry. and another. and another. my hair is soft but it still has flyaways. really no miracle. i think i'll try this again and apply more when my hair is damp... and try paul mitchell's super skinny serum next.

Primer/ Corrector -Unlisted Brand - Milk of Magnesia
jadkin 4/10/2008 10:37:00 PM
though i liked the way this sopped up my face oil, i found it very difficult to blend my makeup (MAC studio concealer) atop of it. since I wear undereye concealer everyday, i don't think i'll bother buying this again. i dab it on my cheeks, eyelids, and chin... but the packaging makes it tricky to do without dripping liquid everywhere haha. i tend to put a little in the cap and dip my fingers in it that way. i think i'll stick with silicone primers :(

so glad i found this at winners for $20! i had taken it out from the library last summer and loved it. i adore allure magazine... and this is just an extended version! the language is very casual, but the advice is concrete, almost scientific. i love it. i took off one lippie because it wasn't bigger!

Self Tanners -L'Oreal - Sublime Bronze Gelee in Deep
jadkin 3/21/2008 2:37:00 PM
i purchased this product on sale at sdm for $13.99 cdn. a bit more expensive than i would like, but it is usually $17 or so. because my skin is fair and oily, i tend to like self-tanning gels better than lotions (more goofproof). i received a bottle of st. tropez lotion for christmas and though i liked the almost instant, caramel-bronze tone it gave me, i HATED the fact that it literally rinsed off the next day! ridiculous, especially for the price. i applied loreal's gelee right out of the shower, starting at my feet. i always rub in self-tanners in circular motions and i have rarely had a problem with streaking. i avoid my ankles and knees until i have covered the rest of my legs; with the product residue on my hands i rub my ankles and knees, again in circular sweeps. even though i didn't use very much product, i had a nice bronze-y tan for at least four days. it didn't wear of unevenly, as many girls have attested to on the board. i'll definitely repurchase! hg for now (but only when its on sale!).

Hair -Sunsilk - ThermaShine Detangling Shine Spray
jadkin 3/11/2008 11:02:00 AM
ah finally. a product that really detangles my hair and provides some heat protection! i have long fine hair (lots of it) and i've been looking for an effective detangler. i make sure to spray this generously all over my head before combing... which makes it completely effortless. i usually have shiny hair so i can't really attest to the product's success in that respect... but this is an excellent detangler/heat protectant.
