BB Cream -Dr. Jart+ - Water Fuse Beauty Balm SPF 25 PA++

I love this BB cream! I used to use laura mercier tinted moisturiser - but was looking for something lighter and was curious about BB creams when I stumbled upon this. I love light coverage so this is amazing. I usually apply with a real techniques stippling brush and work it into the skin, stippling where I need extra coverage. I've never really been game to put foundation etc over my whole face as I have oily skin, but the way this evens out my skin tone is amazing - it just makes me look awake. I have warm indian olive skin, and when first applied the product does look kind of ashy - but then kind of fades out. It covers my red cheeks, the darkness under my lips and the discoloration on the sides of my face. if you are someone who is used to foundation i'm not sure if you will like the super light coverage - but if you are someone like me who adores natural looks you will love this!!!! another point is, i did have to use a setting powder as my face gets oily from this later in the day, but i have hyper oily skin and its summer in australia. i think this would work wonders in winter - but i am happy to set this with a translucent powder and that combats the oilyness! will repurchase!!!
Makeup Brushes -Real Techniques by Samantha Chapman - Stippling Brush

Been following pixiwoo for a while and have been looking to build up my brush collection. I freaking adore Sam. I just got a new Dr Jart BB cream and realised that my current brush wasn't cutting it. I grabbed this bad boy in priceline for $22 (why must australia be so expensive fml). I understand this brush is for 'stippling' but I have seen it used in the tutorials as being swept over the face which is how I mostly use it. I thought it would be perfect for my BB cream! >> Design-- the brush is a lovely pink color, and has perfect weighting - it doesn't feel cheap. The bristles are super freaking soft.. I thought they were soft when I touched them by hand, but when used on my face I was shocked by how lovely it felt!! >> Application - So perfect! it literally blends the cream in perfectly - does not look streaky or anything. and you just Stipple to get more coverage, which I did for my undereye circles. It truly made my BB cream look pixel perfect and my face glowing. I also tried it by stippling a Nars illuminator for highlight - it works perfectly for this. BUY THIS BRUSH if you use tinted moisturiser / BB creams as a base - it made my face f***ing flawless (: I will never use another brush for my face base ever again! Looking to buy the whole range now - go sam!!!
I think this is a classic red lipstick. This product made me love red lipstick! I'm half indian with olive skin and it looked gorgeous on. I was a lipstick noob and MAC was having a random 30% off sale so I thought heck why not buy a proper red lipstick. Being new to lipstick at the age of 21 (wtf?) I kind of tried to apply it as is, and then stuffed it up and then smeared it. If this goes anywhere off your lips its a disaster! the red doesnt budge from your skin!!! it looks silly. but this is WHY you must have a lipliner. A steady hand helps too. With the matching lipliner this is pretty perfect. Perhaps it doesnt last totally as long as I'd like(but i haven't tried enough lipsticks for comparison} but after it comes off it provides a nice stain which is good enough for me. I guess any lipstick needs reapplication - its just the nature of the mouth! it's kind of a staple. if i'm having a bad face day i just put this on (even without other make up!) and I feel gorgeous - and I think that's what make up is all about. Puts a spring in my step.. (and I am not a MAC hype person).....buy it!
Moisturizers -Mario Badescu - Oil Free moisturizer
itsjustjess 5/10/2012 8:53:00 AM
Have been using this for a few weeks and am not totally sure about it. I think I need to give it more time. I love Mario Badescu through and through and every product I've used of theirs has does what it claimed; and actually this product does what it claims too, but I feel it's not really HG. Packaging > love how the top flips up, I think it's kind of cool! I like the medical look of MB products. This packaging is hygenic. Price > I think its a pretty decent price even though it is fucking overpriced in australia. but $30ish isnt too bad. It has no scent. and I can't believe this has given people break outs! I have super super oily skin (but no real pimples or acne - just a gross oil feeling). And using this is insane, it definitely does not clog pores at all. There is no shine and oil on my face all day! I usually need blotting papers but actually now i think about it, it does keep my oil in check. I think I am after my HG and i grabbed this when i was in an inbetween rut so I am judging it more harshly than I should be. It does all it claimed, however I think it require more moisture & I worry about the lack of SPF for the AU sun.. I don't feel for a moisturiser that it moisturises enough. I feel it keeps my pores unclogged and my face less oily. If anything this feels like a make up primer? Similar in consistency to smashbox primer. This product is a good inbetweener for you oily faces like me!! but the search continues.. I'm giving this a 4 cause this does what it claimed, but in my heart i feel it more as a 3! Will give an update after using this for a while.
OK so, holy shit this is awesome!!! I can see how it could get bad reviews for those folks with sensitive skin or acne skin. As the way it works on the face you can kinda feel your skin being pummeled off! Def go to the store and just test it on your hand, wash it off! You wont be able to stop touching that spot all day - so freaking soft. It's basically like getting rid of all the tired dead skin cells on your face and revealing a new one! I think this works best if you dont do it too often - twice a week max! And i really enjoy using this product in summer - it creates such a healthy glow. I would suggest not doing this the same day if you have an event, but maybe 1-2 days before as it can leave your face a bit flushed for a couple of hours after, but the next day results are worth it. My face looks so good and fresh and alive! There's no real smell, i guess its kind of gluey with little beads inside? The skin really loves to be moisturised after using this, it just soaks whichever cream you use after that right up. Have purchased this product two times. The first time it was in a jar - I loved it but the jar sucked and the whole thing dried out. Really excited that they have now changed it to a tube circa 2012! I'm an origins/mario badescu/korres girl, and the packaging is quite cute, goes with my other products. The only lame thing about this product is the price. Oh I wish it were a bit cheaper! But it lasts so long. Please test this and you won't be able to refuse having it!
Treatments (Eye) -Burt's Bees - Radiance Eye Cream with Royal Jelly
itsjustjess 5/10/2012 8:33:00 AM
I love the idea of Burt's Bees and their lemon cuticle cream. With this product I'm not completly sold. I know it's not for wrinkles but it didn't do all that much for my under eye wrinkles - even though they are quite minimal (im 23). I have chronic and hereditary dark circles, and I tried this on one eye in the store and compared it with the other, i think after a couple of minutes it did brighten. But I don't think this brightening translates to all day. I put this on morning and night for a couple of months now, and i think the brightening effects are only really visible near to the time you put it on. The smell is quite nice, kind of like milk and honey. The cream takes a little bit to sink in so I usually put it on after showering, get dressed and do hair and then put make up on. You can't put concealer/make up on right away which is kind of bummer. Packaging > really cute, and i love the shape but doesn't feel totally hygenic for an eye cream! I think there is a decent amount in here so it will last a long time. I was really desp for an eye cream that worked and wasn't too expensive. I think this is a great eye cream if you're on a budget and can't afford higher priced creams. Compared to other more expensive eye creams I've used this is a bit mediocre. I think this does a fair job and I would give it a 3! It's a good in betweener cream for me until I find the absolute perfect one! now that I have more of a budget for skin care again I think I will search for something else.
Treatments -Burt's Bees - Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream
itsjustjess 5/10/2012 8:23:00 AM
delicious lemon butter smell! really moisturised my problem dry and split cuticles! also had a problem with dry splitting nails and I think this cleared it up by massaging into nail bed. I'm so addicted to the smell I could put this stuff on all day - it's a nice touch to a manicure. the packaging is really cute and i've had it a month and hardly made a dent in it- i think it will last a while!! don't hesitate - if you have problem cuticles and dry nails buy this!
Don't understand any hype for this product! Overall I thought it was just.. meh. The smell wasn't interesting, it moisturised okay but kind of just felt like it was sitting on my skin. I have combination / oily skin, so i'm guessing this might be better for drier skin? I feel it made my skin duller, didn't feel much softer. Not only that but the packaging sucked! dropped it once and the lid kind of snapped a bit. then it came totally apart from the interior lid, which also broke on it's own accord? would not buy again. its just so so
Really surprised at some bad reviews here. I guess this ain't for all types of skin! I know some Origins products can be sucky and overpriced, and while this one is overpriced a bit it is not the former!! Anyway, as a night cream this is ultimate! I think the formula really does smell like vitamins, and I quite like it like that. I like the brown glass packaging too for that medical feel. I've had mine over possibly 2 years and it's lasted all the way, I've still got about half left. That being said I'm a bit lazy so I don't use it everynight. But when i do use it.. BAM! The next morning my face is looking awesome! Skin appears brighter, dark circles a tiny bit lighter, overall it's a good face day if I use this the night before! It really really does make a genuine difference.
Got recommended this at Kit Cosmetics in Australia, when I won a gift voucher. Okay, so I really do love this product, but it is pretty expensive to buy normally! However, it does last a long time, I think I've had mine 1.5 years, and its about 45% full. It's pretty awkward to apply to your face, (adding water to the hard stuff) and it's also pretty hard to get off your face. - need toner. I have half indian kind of complexion skin, with hereditery dark circles (joyous!) but i do LOVE this product, truthfully. It's not really a product for the long term improvement of your skin, however if I ever have a bad face day, this always fixes it. I tend to get really dull skin, dark dark circles, and look ashy and dull, but ANYTIME i use this, it truly fixes my face for the day, and sometimes the day after. it makes the skin really bright, makes you seem more awake. I think it's not really a 'whitening' product, which is good, its truthfully for natural looking brightness. if you hate looking in the mirror on those days you feel dull and blah then this product will be worth it.
LOVE this face wash!!! i have combination, oily and dry. Nothing makes my face feeling clean, refreshed moisturised. I always have an icky feeling in my pores and stuff, but this is amazing, it definitely deep cleans, leaves my skin so smooth! I hate face washes that say they clean out pores-but they dont. for instance st ives apricot cleanser, clean and clear and all that crap. this cleanser is worth it if you want to have beautiful glowing skin. I love the way it foams, a little goes a long way; and i love the slightly mintly smell. I've bought this 3 or 4 times and gotten my sister and friends hooked on it. Even when im poor as hell I still buy it, its just that good!! 2012 -- just wanted to edit and say that I'm still using this cleanser! I find one purchase lasts me an entire year! thats about 8 cents per day! love it still
Treatments (Eye) -Promaxyl - Eyelash Renewal serum Rapidlash
itsjustjess 8/26/2010 8:01:00 AM
Was super excited to try this product.. and am not dissapointed! I've been using it on and off (every second day-ish : laziness!) for about a month or two. I've noticed an obvious increase in the length of my lashes, both top and bottom, they have also curled significantly. i noticed a difference after 3 or 4 days infact. Tested this out on a bare patch on my eyebrows, only applied it there twice, and they are already filled in! only downside is this is a little expensive - eek! bought it at boots uk for 40 pounds i think :) tbh I have noticed that when i apply it makes my dark circles more prominent, and my eye area more red (no i am not applying to my eyelids!), BUT, this is minimal, and a small price to pay - even though i hate dark circles. all in all this is an AWESOME product. I've always wanted long beautiful lashes, and with a couple more months ill be there (:
