BB Cream -Garnier - BB Cream Miracle Skin Perfector for Combination to Oily Skin
island21goddess 5/10/2013 2:47:00 AM
Let me start off by saying that the color Light/Medium worked perfect for my Combo/Oily, MAC NW20 ish skin (I say "ish" because I use a concealer that matches my facial skin, but usually a foundation that is a shade or two darker so my face will match my body). I've read several negative reviews about this product but I have to say that for what it is, I like it a lot more then I expected to! I have seen that most people who are unhappy with this "BB" complain either about it not controlling oil well enough, or that the coverage wasn't full enough. I am really happy with this product for MY skin, it seems to work quite well for me. I treat this "BB" as a light foundation and use it in conjunction with my other everyday makeup products.... First, I ALWAYS lightly prime my face. Then I spot conceal with my HG concealer: MAC Pro Longwear in NW20. Next I apply this "BB" with a flat top brush (usually my Sedona Lace one). Finally I set only my T-Zone using Rimmel Stay Matte. Contour/Blush/Highlight as usual. Last I ALWAYS use a setting spray (Currently using De Slick by Urban Decay). My skin looks even, fresh and glowy without being cakey OR shiny. I tend to get oily on my nose first, then my forehead with ANY foundation. This is no different, definitely no "worse". Even though my skin can get pretty oily (plus I live in Hawaii) I've never been one to powder my face throughout the day, as to avoid getting that cakey look and/or feeling. I ALWAYS carry Clean & Clear oil absorbing sheets to remove the oil. I usually blot about 3.5 hours into the day, then I'm good to go! Overall, I love how this performs on my skin. I honestly didn't expect to like this so much. I'm SOOOOOO glad that I picked this up! It is a little runny, but covers good for me when used in conjunction with my concealer. My main skin issue is unevenness and a few blemishes here and there. I don't think this would be ideal for someone who has very problematic skin. My only complaint is that I wish this was in a different package. Something with a pump is always nice! The price was mediocre... $13 for me at Target (probably because I live in Hawaii) but I saw this for as much as $16 in Longs! Look around for the best price because I would definitely recommend this product!

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Naked 2 Palette
island21goddess 1/11/2013 7:00:00 AM
I absolutely adore this pallette! I ordered it online about 6 months ago and have been using it almost everyday since lol... I really love the more neutral shades in these pallettes but the shimmer keeps them from being too boring. Don't get me wrong, I love a nice matte neutral eye shadow every once in a while but I tend to lean more towards satin or shimmer finishes, just my preference. After having used this pallette so many times, I decided to check out the Naked 1. While in Sephora the other day, I compared the Naked 1 and Naked 2 side by side. Online they look pretty close and so I wasn't really excited about the shadows in Naked 1. But in person I was surprised at how much I liked The Naked 1 also! Even though they are similar, they are different enough that it's definitely worth having both! The only repeat shadow in both pallettes is a beautiful gold shadow called Half Baked. Half Baked is my Holy Grail gold shadow... It looks so pretty with a black winged eye liner and red lips. Very retro chic =) So I did end up buying the Naked 1 and I have been using it every day since! If I had to choose one though, I would have to say Naked 2 just because I've had it longer and I really prefer the sturdier packaging! But if you can afford it, I say get them both! Urban Decay makes wonderful eyeshadows, I'm officially a believer. Very pigmented and great color payoff! They blend wonderfully and really last me all day long when I use them in conjunction with the Urban Decay Eye Shadow Primer Potion.

Pressed Powders -MAC - Mineralize Skin Finish Natural - Medium Plus
island21goddess 1/11/2013 4:45:00 AM
Last year I started to get really into experimenting with liquid foundations. I love the full coverage, and even though my skin is pretty clear, I just love looking flawless! I definitely love high end make-up products but am a thrifty girl at heart lol... I have been wearing drugstore foundations for about a year now and my go to is usually L'oreal True Match liquid foundation in W3 or Revlon Colorstay in 300 Golden Beige. I tend to get oily and have to retouch often towards the end of a long day... I had been using MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Give Me Sun! to contour and I recently decided to try using MAC MIneralize Skinfinish in Medium Plus to replace my liquid foundations. I like using a concealer that's slightly lighter so I'm using MAC Pro Longwear Concealer in NW20... But anyways it's day 3 of using Mineralize Skinfinish in Medium Plus INSTEAD of liquid foundation and I have to say I'm very impressed! The coverage is nice and my skin doesn't look as "noticeably" caked with make-up lol. It is SO much more natural, yet just as flawless! I just spot conceal with my Pro Longwear Concealer and then buff on the MSFN. The more you buff the better it looks! I really do love this stuff already... I will update in a week or so. This thrifty girl is sold! Definitely worth the $29 =) UPDATE: I should have listened to the SA and got something a tad bit lighter. This tends to oxidize on me throughout the day (minus one lippie for that) but nothing too horrible. I tend to wear bronzer on my neck and chest to blend anyways, so I'm ok with it. I WILL however be purchasing one a shade lighter... Probably light plus or medium instead of the medium plus I have now. I still love to wear this alone over some concealer when I'm in a hurry.

Lotions/ Creams -Olay - Quench Plus Firming Body Lotion
island21goddess 1/11/2013 4:01:00 AM
I live in Hawaii and am often wearing shorts or a skirt. I really enjoy a subtle shimmer to my body lotions because it's always sunny and I like to sparkle a little bit. This lotion smells great and has a subtle shimmering effect. It feels moisturizing enough on my skin, although I cannot say whether or not I noticed any "firming" going on lol. I have been using this lotion daily for over a year and I will continue to repurchase it. I always buy the big bottle with a pump and leave it on top of my dresser for easy daily use. I love the smell and even though I wear a different perfume every day I don't feel like the two scents are ever competing. My ONLY complaint would be that with the pump packaging I feel like I'm wasting product towards the end of the bottle. No lotion will come out of the pump, but there is definitely still product in there... ? =\

Conditioner -Aveeno - Nourish + Condition Leave-In Treatment
island21goddess 1/11/2013 3:45:00 AM
I use the Aveeno Nourish + Moisture Leave-In Treatment on my damp ends, brush through to disperse and then blow dry smooth. My hair used to be frizzy and damaged but now feels SO much more smooth and healthy! I barely have to do anything to my hair but blow-dry it and quickly run the straightener through to smooth it a little extra. Be careful though, do not use TOO MUCH. I use about 4 sprays max on my LONG hair concentrating on the ends. I used to feel like I couldn't leave the house without sectioning off and meticulously straightening every part of my hair. But now my hair looks shiny and feels smooth and healthy! ............................ Also, just to be clear, before I use this Leave-In Treatment I have been using the Aveeno Nourish + Shine shampoo AND conditioner in the shower... for almost 9 months now (My hair doesn't like the Nourish + Moisture ones though... =\). I only wash my hair once every 2 days, SOMETIMES 3... If I feel the need, I will sometimes wash my hair twice in the shower (if it has been 3 days) so it really feels clean. I then concentrate the conditioner on my ends, finger comb through to evenly distribute and then let it sit for about 5+ min while I finish shaving, etc. Then of course I use the Leave-In Treatment last after towel drying my hair. This Aveeno line is my HOLY GRAIL!

Lipstick -Maybelline - Fuchsia Flash
island21goddess 1/11/2013 2:57:00 AM
I love the Color Sensational line by Maybelline. The formula is long lasting but also so smooth and in my opinion smells pleasant. I love pink lipsticks and all of my favorites are either from this line or from MAC. I'm always on the lookout for new colors and when I saw the Color Sensational "Vivids" collection I grabbed 3 different colors! Fuchsia Flash, Hot Plum and Pink Pop. I was a little disappointed because Hot Plum and Fuchsia Flash look different in the tube but when applied are almost EXACTLY the same color. The color is beautiful though so I'm really not that disappointed =) So later that day I was shopping in MAC (while wearing Fuchsia Flash) The sales girl thought I was wearing Candy Yum Yum lol... So, curiosity sparked, I removed fuchsia flash and put on Candy Yum Yum to test it. Ugh. I didn't like the matte finish... The color is literally the same color as Fuchsia Flash!! I don't really love matte lipsticks because they tend to stick to any part of my lip that isn't completely smooth. Not attractive =/ So despite the hype around Candy Yum Yum I didn't purchase it because of the formula... AND because I have found a perfect dupe for it with, in my opinion, a WAY BETTER FORMULA! Thank you so much Maybelline!!!
