Liquid -Paula's Choice - Best Face Forward Foundation SPF 25
ipomea 12/16/2006 5:28:00 AM
This review applies to the revamped version of Best Face Forward Foundation. I have an oily skin with occasional acne. The good stuff:- it does have a very good range of shades which blend beautifully into the skin...very natural. The texture feels oily but does not continue to be so when on the skin...it is unusual in this respect.. My main no, no, is that it does not have sufficient coverage. Like most women I am looking for that faint sheen, with a light matte look...I know, a contradiction in terms...but this foundation reveals all flaws. If you have a good skin with a tendency to oiliness (could this be a contradiction in terms too?) then this would rock your boat. You do need to spend just a bit longer ensuring it is fully blended...

Mascara -Talika - Lipocils

I have fair, fine and indistinguishable eyelashes. This product is all right...the lashes did grow...but do not expect miracles. Is the Jan Marine product better? Has anyone tried both?

Treatments -Dr. Sebagh - Pure Vitamin C powder cream

I loved this product and have re-purchased twice. The only drawback is the price which is horrendous really, but, it had a terrific effect on my oily, not very young skin. It definitely affected the appearance, making it smoother and glowy...no, not shiny... I am very tempted to buy some other of the Dr Sabagh products, but the price! the price!

Hair Color -L'Oreal - Couleur Experte -hair dye / highlight
ipomea 10/31/2006 5:25:00 AM
I loved this initially...it did a reasonable job and gave highlights over the base colour effectively....BUT...whenever I visited my hairdresser, she would comment on the increasing por condition of my hair. This had never been a problem before using the Couleur Experte. Also, I am quite disciplined about using conditioner. The conclusion is that the bleaching part of the process wrecked my hair, probably due to the repetition of the process every four weeks or so. So watch out with that....care needed.

Moisturizers -Paula's Choice - Completely Non-Greasy Moisturizer

This is a good product to keep in the drawer for when your skin feels like it needs a simple, no bells and whistles moisturiser. I have quite oily skin which is horrible sensitive and this is a cream for use when you need a pure base which won't react on your skin. Use sparingly as a little goes a long way.

Treatments -Paula's Choice - Blemish Fighting Solution

This is extremely effective for acne. The only major drawback is the bleaching of clothing, so you don't need to be in a morning rush, putting on the cream and then hauling a tee shirt over your head....I've ruined quite a few tops this way...very silly. But it tames the eruptions, so it is worth it.

Eye Shadow -Paula's Choice - Hazelnut
ipomea 7/17/2005 9:53:00 AM
This is quite an unusual colour, being soft olive brown with a touch of yellow. Sounds awful but is very subtle on the eye and works well as a crease shadow and also as a soft liner. I have green eyes and this is sufficiently slightly off key in tone to really emphasise my eyes well. Highly recommended

Eye Shadow -Paula's Choice - Soft Matte Eyeshadow in Graphite

Thia is the best shadow I have come across for use as a soft liner. It blends beautifully so avoiding any harshness of line. Also it mixes in really well with other colours if you want a green or blue tone. Lots of shadows say that they are good for producing a smouldery look...this one delivers the goods.

Lipstick -Max Factor - Lipfinity

When these first came out, I thought they were THE ANSWER but soon discovered they were not...colours too flat and basic...made the lips look like they had been painted with three layers of gloss paint...awful stuff

Finally, after reading Paula Begoun's reviews for years about this foundation, I actually bought it. I have a very oily skin and am sick of trying to find something that really does the job....but I am very impressed with this. Applied over a light moisturiser with a damp sponge it covers well without looking glucky, and it lasts perfectly, even in the heat. I did have slight problems applying stick blush over it because it dries quickly....maybe mix the blush with a little moisturiser so that it spreads more easily. Anyway...recommend it 100%

Liquid -Dermalogica - Treatment Foundation

I have an oily skin and this foundation is definitely not right for it. Half way through the day I had acquired more spots. Also it does not have good coverage and leaves faint foundation lines...just not blending well. I tried number 1 but it was too pink and not good. Number 2 was too dark. I would not really recommend it.

Masks -Borghese - Fango Active Mud for Face and Body
ipomea 2/14/2004 11:57:00 AM
This is an excellent mask. If you have medium to dry skin it should probably not be left on for very long but it will still do a first rate job of evening out skin tone and living up it'd appearance. On oily skin, it cannot be beaten. Use it on a beauty day, when you are not going anywhere. Best also to wash off with sponge provided and then give an additional clean with gentle cleanser and muslin cloth. Use it once a week.
