Sunscreen -Unlisted Brand - Vanicream SPF 60 Sensitive Skin Sunscreen
indianagirl 4/29/2013 2:23:00 PM
After having reactions to several products with chemical sunscreens in them, I finally figured out the problem and went in search of a good, non pore clogging physical sunscreen. Tried several, but they all seemed to dry out my skin and make it feel tight. Or, had oils and broke me out. Stumbled upon this in Walgreens and figured I would try it. Got a huge tube for 19.99, which will last for quite awhile. Four weeks later, this is HG. This is a thick formula, but I find if I pat it on then rub it in after it warms up it applies better. i agree that this probably isn't great for oilier skins, but on my sensitive, slightly dry skin it works great. I apply it after washing my face in the morning and it works like a moisturizer/sunscreen/primer in one. No white cast, but it is slightly shiny. No problem, as I wear mineral powder over it anyway. Then I get a slightly dewy effect. No cloggged pores, no acne, and no rashes, hives, or other side effects. Worked outside several days and not a bit of redness. Only con is the smell, which is a bit like burnt plastic. That does seem to fade after a few minutes, though. Will repurchase, but won't need to for a long time.

Cleansers -Ponds - Luminous Clean Cream Cleanser
indianagirl 4/29/2013 2:08:00 PM
For over a year I had been using Albolene followed by a cream cleanser, but felt the need to simplify my routine and started worrying that all that rubbing off of the Albolene might not be the best for my skin. Plus, I started wearing less makeup, so I didn't feel the need for such a heavy makeup remover. Bought this based on MUA reviews and frankly, at $4.95 at Target, what did I have to lose. However, I find I really like this for my night time cleanser. It is gentle, thoroughly cleans off my sunscreen and mineral makeup, and has really seemed to make a difference in pore size and skin appearance. I've used this now for 3 weeks, and feel that it is a keeper. I did try to use this morning and night, but found it was too drying if I used it twice a day. Once a day followed by moisturizer works great for me. Packaging is nice, price is ridiculously cheap, it only takes a nickel size amount for face and neck, and the clay seems to really draw out impurities. Would give it 5 lippies, but not crazy about the fragrance.

Eye Makeup Remover -Sephora - Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover
indianagirl 4/29/2013 1:57:00 PM
I received a small bottle of this free with a eye makeup set with my Sephora points. While I wasn't crazy about the other items in the makeup kit, this is definitely a keeper. I shake it, apply it to a cotton pad, wipe it over my eyes and 95% of my eye makeup is gone instantly. I then go back under my eyes to remove the rest. Turn the pad over and do the other eye. It takes so little remover that I've been using the sample size for a month and have hardly dented it. No burning, no irritation, and no harsh rubbing required. I can even use this with my contacts in and no blurry vision afterwards. Would give it 5 lippies, but not crazy about the fact they felt the need to put in a blue dye and fragrance. Overall, a great product that I will repurchase when I finally run out of my sample size.

Treatments -Clean & Clear - Advantage Oil Absorbing Treatment
indianagirl 3/21/2013 1:34:00 PM
LOVE THIS. Will cry if can no longer find it. Background on me- 30's, light acne, very cloggy pores, combo skin that is light and very sensitive. I am unable to exfoliate manually more than once a week with the Olay pro x brush, or I tear my skin up. Searching for a chemical exfoliant I was very hesitant to use an AHA due to my sensitivity. I came across this on Paula's choice, and since I'm still breaking out and have cloggy pores I thought I would give it a try. Its dirt cheap (6.99), comes in a convenient squeezy tube, and has 2 % salicylic acid, so is a BHA. I found it at Rite Aid. I use this only once a day, as I'm afraid it would dry me out if I used it more. I put this on after washing and toning in the morning, but before sunscreen. It applies in a thin layer, like a thin lotion. Some smell, but not enough to irritate my sensitive skin. After two weeks I have very few clogged pores, only 2 pimples (from a bb with oil), and smaller pores. My few blackheads in my chin are gone. No oil issues in my t zone either, but no dryness in my cheeks. I truly feel like this keeps my pores cleaned out and me pimple free.

BB Cream -Physicians Formula - Super BB Cream
indianagirl 3/21/2013 1:21:00 PM
In the search for a bb cream that would make mornings easier and not turn me orange, I decided to try this one. I purchased the shade light/medium at Meijer, where they were on sale, making it pretty affordable. I do like the squeeze tube packaging, and the holographic lettering doesn't bother me one way or the other. On my fair/light skin this showed up a little dark, but nothing too extreme or orange. I thought it would definitely work for summer. The bb is thick and creamy, and applies well with fingers, as it warms it up. One coat was enough to cover up most issues, and two coats covered my redish nose and some old acne spots. Light to medium coverage. The finish was dewy on my combo skin, and I felt like it wouldn't set without a coating of powder. It wore well, at least 6 hours after the coat of finishing powder. However, both times I wore it I got HUGE pimples on my temples. Like, the same day. Upon further inspection, this is NOT oil free....and my face hates oil during the day. Overall, this was a decent bb compared to other drugstore brands that I have tried. Best for those with dry to combo skin though, as I think oily types will hate it. Also the fair gals will definitely not work in this. If your skin can take some oil, then definitely worth a try.

Palettes -Urban Decay - Naked Basics
indianagirl 2/27/2013 5:20:00 PM
Bought this to add to my Urban Decay naked palette collection, and appreciated that there were more neutral mattes to mix and match with colors I already owned. However, I find that I use this for travel a lot, as the case is small and perfect to slip in my bag. I also don't mix and match with my other palettes a lot, just use this as a daily soft, neutral look that compliments my pale skin and green eyes and is great for work. The shadows are pigmented and buttery, and with the primer potion underneath they last all day. These aren't your typical exciting sparkling UD colors, but more a grown up version of them. Would definitely repurchase, but this will last for a long time.

Moisturizers -Lacura - Q10 Anti-Wrinkle Night Cream
indianagirl 2/27/2013 5:08:00 PM
Yet another product that I discovered due to MUA, and this one I genuinely love. The night cream is thick, yet sinks in well and really moisturizes my dry, sensitive skin. I wake up with clear, glowing skin every morning. It is a little hard to find, only at Aldi's, and I generally buy 2 when I can find it, as the day cream is usually available more than the night cream. I'm not crazy about the jar and sticking my finger in it every night, and we all know that retinol and other good stuff goes bad in the air. However, it is dirt cheap, it doesn't break me out, and my skin loves it. I took a break for a few weeks from it thinking that other high end products would do a better job, and my skin looked worse. Will definitely keep repurchasing.

Moisturizers -Olay - Active Hydrating Beauty Fluid-Sensitive Skin
indianagirl 2/27/2013 4:59:00 PM
Bought this looking for a cheap, easy moisturizer to put on after wiping down my face in the morning. Seriously think that putting water on my face moisturizes it more, as this soaks in immediately and does not last. Half way through the day I had more dry flaky patches than in the morning. Plus, I broke out on my forehead where I never break out. Positives: cheap, bottle was sanitary and easy to get as much product as I needed. Negatives: did not moisturize enough, broke me out. Will not repurchase.

Cleansers -Olay - Sensitive Skin Foaming Face Wash
indianagirl 2/27/2013 4:53:00 PM
Bought this after reading many postive reviews on MUA and wanting to cut my makeup removal/face cleaning by a step. I'm currently using Albolene for makeup removal and Lacura face wash mixed with raw honey for cleansing. Well... if it's not broke, don't fix it. This does remove makeup well, except for some longwearing eyeliner and mascara, and feels like it cleans my face - too well. On my sensitive, dry skin it left a burning, tight sensation and left my skin incredibly dry and flaky. The price was great, availability was great, and the packaging was great with the squeeze type bottle, but unfortunately this wasn't great for my skin. Would recommend this for oily skinned folks out there.

Liquid -American Beauty - Perfectly Even Natural Finish Foundation
indianagirl 2/22/2013 2:39:00 PM
In my search for a good everyday foundation for my dry winter skin I decided to try this based on MUA reviews. I'm so happy that I did. This is a great everyday foundation that gives me a solid 8 hours of coverage with a subtle, natural, dewy finish. I doesn't emphasize my dry patches, and doesn't make the rest of my face look like an oil slick. I would say the coverage is light/medium, and can be built up on trouble spots. The packaging is not the best, but I use a sponge so no big deal. I did get the light warm shade, as the cool looked way to pink even in the store, and it is a great match. This hasn't broken me out over the past 2 weeks, and isn't impossible to get off at the end of the day. You do have to watch for some transfer, but that is about the only negative thing I can say about it. I'm going back this weekend to stock up, as it looks like they aren't getting in any new product and will discontinue when this runs out.

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Theodora Palette
indianagirl 2/22/2013 2:33:00 PM
My husband bought this for me for Valentines Day, and I love it. I've worn it almost every day since. The colors are richly pigmented and butter smooth and there are a nice mix of shimmers and mattes. The glitter shades have much less fall out than in the Glinda palette. This can be used as an everyday subtle eye, or darkened up for a smoky, intense night look. The tin that it comes in is great, and I appreciate that the shadows can be replaced when they are empty or can be switched out if I want to travel with this. The mirror is large, and the eyeliner is one of Urban Decay's best colors. The lip color is a little bright for me, but I tend to apply lip gloss and just use a touch of this and it works well. I think this is a great value when you consider how much just the empty palette costs. Would definitely buy this again or recommend it to others.

Liquid -Maybelline - Dream Liquid Mousse
indianagirl 2/22/2013 2:26:00 PM
I have been on a foundation hunt lately, looking for a foundation that won't emphasize my dry winter skin or pores. Bought this, remembering that I wore it a few years ago and liked it. I'm not sure if they have changed the formula, but I definitely don't like it now. The colors seem to run dark, and oxidize terribly in a couple of hours. When I first put it on it seems okay, and has a nice dewy finish, but then when I check my makeup in natural light a few hours later, it is orange. Plus, within 4 hours my face looks oily and spotty, with no coverage, except what has pooled in my pores. The pump is a definite plus for a drugstore foundation, but why bother if the color won't stay true and the coverage is terrible within a few hours.

Toners -Unlisted Brand - Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar
indianagirl 2/12/2013 2:29:00 PM
Use this for everything. Dilute it 1:8 for a hair rinse, and it clarifies and softens my hair and keeps dry scalp at bay. Take a tablespoon daily in grape juice and I have more energy, seem to get sick less often, and my skin is 100% improved. I also use this as a face toner, diluted 1:4 with water, and my face has never looked better. Less clogged pores, less zits and when I do get them (hormonal) they go away quickly with no red marks. I also tend to have uneven skin tones with lots of redness, and this evens my skin out beautifully. My moisturizing oil also seems to absorb better when I apply it after toning. Did research and discovered this is all about pH- it lowers the pH on my face to get it closer to perfect (5.5) which in turn helps prevent bacteria from getting out of control and preserves the skin's acid mantle. So, if it stops working I either dilute it more or stop for a few weeks, then return when my face gets out of whack again. Cheap and effective, go through a bottle of this every few months.

Palettes -Urban Decay - Glinda Palette
indianagirl 2/12/2013 2:18:00 PM
Bought this for my daughter but had to try it out. Not a fan at all. The colors don't seem to be as highly pigmented as other shadows that I have gotten from them, and don't show up well on fair skin. Tornado is horrible to blend, and the glitter shadows have an insane amount of fall out. The iridescent colors are interesting, but not so much that I would wear them often. Eyeliner is a dupe of one I already have and like, and the lip pencil, while pretty, is rather dry and does not last for longer than 30 minutes. However, my young teenage daughter does love this, so perhaps this is better for younger users. Do like the packaging and mirror.

BB Cream -Tarte - BB tinted treatment 12-hour primer Broad Spectrum SPF 30 sunscreen
indianagirl 2/4/2013 1:28:00 PM
Love this. Better than any other bb cream that I've tried. I get it in light, and it matches me perfectly without any orange. I apply a small pea sized amount after moisturizing, and it spreads quickly and evenly. Covers most redness and diminishes the appearance of pores. If I have red marks from blemishes I do need a bit of seperate concealer, but that is all. If I'm not doing much I will leave it there, but if I'm going out I follow with a SMALL amount of foundation, as this seems to help my makeup go on much smoother and with much less product. The tube is great and dispenses just the right amount of product. Price is a little on the high side, but as this will replace my sunscreen and primer and will reduce the amount I'm paying in foundation then I'm okay with it. Best of all it doesn't break me out like most other primers. Will repurchase. EDIT 2/11/13: So sad, but I had to stop using this. Dried me out really badly after a couple of weeks, no matter how much I moisturized prior to applying it. this has to be just for oily skin, not dry or combination. Thank God for Sephora's really great return policy.
