Polishes -Essie - Mint Candy Apple
rated 3 of 5
iluvvader9 5/29/2011 5:30:00 AM

I had high hopes for this nail polish but like others have said, the color isn't so true to it's name. I was hoping for a more greenish mint hue, but it turned out to be more blue/turquoise. As others have mentioned, I too found that the formula was INCREDIBLY hard to work with. It was streaky, thick, gloopy and just overall hard to control and to apply. I find myself hesitating when I reach for this color. It's hard to get an even application with this color and I was shocked b/c I'm a huge Essie fan and none of my other colors were hard to apply. So I find that the Essie pastel/creamy colors are pretty gloopy/streaky, whereas the non-creamy colors are okay.

Pressed Powders -Maybelline - Dream Matte Pressed Powder
rated 5 of 5
iluvvader9 5/29/2011 5:18:00 AM

One of my favorite drugstore powders. I love how it's very finely milled and smooth. It gives a nice texture and finishing touch to your foundation. I wouldn't recommend just using this as foundation because it won't provide that much coverage. But it's perfect cover a cream or liquid foundation. It has a wide range of colors and it's easy to work your brush into the powder unlike other powders where it's packed in too tight and impossible to ever pick up the product. Don't use the sponge that they provide...use a flat top or a kabuki brush instead. The downside is that it has little staying power and will rub off easily. But I like how the colors are pretty true and don't turn orange or anything throughout the day.

Foundations -Maybelline - Dream Matte Mousse
rated 3 of 5
iluvvader9 5/29/2011 5:13:00 AM

I loved this product when I first bought it because it really provided me a nice matte finish for my oily-combination skin. But this product has very little staying power like the rest of the Dream line. The foundation also doesn't have as good of a coverage as it may seem. The coverage is pretty light and I definitely have to double up on the concealer afterwards to really cover up all the dark/red spots. Over time I also found that the foundation dried up a bit and started clumping up into little balls like crazy. It got so annoying and hard to apply that I just gave up and decided to try the Smooth Mousse foundation which was much better. But if you're looking for a light, matte and lightweight coverage, definitely go for it!

Crème -Maybelline - Dream Smooth Mousse
rated 5 of 5
iluvvader9 5/29/2011 5:05:00 AM

I remember when I was scouting high and low for the perfect cream drugstore foundation. I used to be a liquid foundation user but as I got over the teen-acne phase I found that my skin was changing and it was becoming less oily. So I find that cream foundations are a perfect balance for my skin type. I was contemplating getting the L'Oreal one but I'm glad I found this one. I'm actually a huge fan of the "Dream" line because I find that the products are all pretty high quality. This foundation is very creamy and I like how it glides on really nicely and effortlessly. I usually use my flat foundation brush to apply this, and I recommend it because the sponge that they provide doesn't apply the product that well. They have a wide color range and the product is very dewy. So for me personally, I'm not a huge fan of dewy foundations so I use the Dream Matte Powder over it and it gives me the perfect finish. This foundation is PERFECT for the summer b/c it really lets your skin breathe and the coverage is buildable..but on average it's a medium coverage. The only downside to this product is that it has little staying power and it'll smear/sweat off really easily..within a few hours. It's also really annoying when it smears on your phone. But other than that it's not bad.

Lipstick -Shu Uemura - Lipstick
rated 4 of 5
iluvvader9 7/21/2010 10:32:00 PM

I bought this lipstick on Hautelook almost a year ago and I still really love it. The color that I have is a coral-beige color which is good for everyday wear and it's pretty natural and subtle. The texture of this lipstick is very smooth and silky. It's easy to apply and swipe on the lips. However, it's not that pigmented (at least the color that I have). It's very moisturizing, but one downside to this product has it sort of has a greasy feeling when I apply it on my lips. It's kind of like I just finished eating some oily fried chicken or something. Therefore, the product doesn't stick that well to my lips, it comes off quite easily. Overall, it's pretty decent.

Eye Shadow -Clinique - Color Surge Eyeshadow Quad in Plum Seduction
rated 4 of 5
iluvvader9 7/21/2010 10:26:00 PM

I got this quad for my birthday and I'm in love with it! I never bought Clinique eyeshadows before b/c I've always had a bad impression of them because most Clinique products that I've tried are a bit too subtle for me. Back in high school, I used to be really into bright MAC or Urban Decay eyeshadows, but I guess now that I've grown up I'm into more subtle colors. The 4 colors in this quad compliment each other perfectly. None of them are overly shimmery. I haven't actually tried using all 4 colors on my lids at the same time yet, but I'd imagine that it would look really nice. The downside to this product is that the colors are not very pigmented and sometimes I have to dig my brush in to get more product. But overall, it's great for everyday wear and the purple/grey tones are gorgeous and would especially compliment medium to tan complexions. Also, the packaging is gorgeous too!

Treatments (Eye) -Clinique - All About Eyes
rated 5 of 5
iluvvader9 7/21/2010 9:45:00 PM

I love this moisturizer! I had it for a while and never used it 'til now. It's absolutely amazing! It really moisturizes and it's perfect for all skin types! I have combo skin and it works perfectly for me. It seems like this would be a product for dry skin, but it's not. I'm sure this product will work well even if you have oily skin. Surprisingly, this product is actually helping me keep my acne away, a lot better than benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid products..at least for me. I find that most products that are intended to help keep acne away don't really work on me. But this is absolutely amazing. I use this product at night before I go to bed. Then I use a Murad day cream in the morning. This routine has helped me a lot. .

Eyeliner -Stila - Smudge Pot in Black
rated 5 of 5
iluvvader9 1/23/2010 7:01:00 PM

I LOVE this gel liner! It works so well, and it creates a very black, matte line. When used with the right eye liner brush, it really gives you the control and it's actually a lot easier to use than liquid liner (even though I love that as well). It's pretty thick, but it's super creamy. It gets a little thicker as time goes on, but if you keep the lid closed and keep it at room temperature, it should be fine. I've been using it for around 2 months and the texture has still remained the same. I only use it for my upper lash line, but I'm pretty sure it works just as well for the lower lash line b/c the consistency is thick and you won't risk getting it in your eye, unlike liquid liner. Overall, definitely repurchasing this product.

Blush -Shu Uemura - Glow On Blush
rated 4 of 5
iluvvader9 1/23/2010 6:51:00 PM

This product is very pigmented and be very shimmery, depending on the color and the finish. The one that I got, appeared to be light orange, but when applied it's more of a frosty white. So instead of using this product as a blush, I use it as a highlighter, I use it to highlight down my nose and the top of my cheek bones and on my temples. It works pretty well, but it's HIGHLY pigmented so I only need to lightly swipe the pan to get enough product. It's pretty pricey though, but I bought this on Hautelook for around $10. The product can be shimmery if used too much. As for the packaging, it's pretty simple and clean.

Eye Primer -Urban Decay - Eyeshadow Primer Potion - Original (UDPP)
rated 5 of 5
iluvvader9 1/23/2010 5:20:00 PM

This eye primer works so well. The product is thick and rich, which I really like. It's not runny like TFSI can get once you use it for a while. UDPP only takes a little product to cover your entire eyelid. It really intensifies your shadows and it definitely prevents lids from creasing. I've heard some negative reviews about the packaging, but I actually like using the wand because it's a lot more handy. However, I can imagine that when the primer potion runs out, it can be hard to use all the product that's inside the tube. Overall, I'm very satisfied with this product and will definitely repurchase.

Eye Shadow -Kat Von D - Beethoven palette
rated 5 of 5
iluvvader9 1/23/2010 4:57:00 PM

I absolutely LOVE this pallette. The colors are highly pigmented and the colors complement each other very well. You can mix and match the colors and they all go together beautifully. There's a mix of both matte and shimmery colors. The good thing about the shimmery colors is that they're not overly shimmery, therefore there won't be any fallout. You can use the matte black for lining, and the shimmery lilac as an all over color and the darker purples for the out crease. For another look, you can also use the beautiful silver/grey and blue look for a pop of color. You definitely mix them up ;D. Then you can use the yellowish color for your highlight. The packaging is also AMAZING. It comes in a matte black case with beautiful tattoo designs. Although the inside seems kind of like a regular Sephora pallette, but the quality of the shadows are actually much better. Highly recommend!

Liquid -Revlon - ColorStay Makeup
rated 4 of 5
iluvvader9 12/16/2009 10:00:00 PM

This is probably the best drugstore foundation I've ever used. It's definitely a lot better compared to Cover Girl or Maybelline. The foundation for oil/combination skin is really mattifying. It can be applied lightly for a medium coverage, or it can be layered for full coverage. It does dry very quickly so it's hard to blend. So make sure you spread it evenly around your face quickly. Also, it can be dull if you apply too much, so make sure you use a blush/bronzer or highlighter. It pretty much lasts all day and it covers up most pimples and scars. The down side of this product is the packaging. There is no pump and the opening of the container is very wide so you have to be careful when pouring it out.

Eye Shadow -Maybelline - ExpertWear Eyeshadow Quad in Chai Latte
rated 4 of 5
iluvvader9 11/7/2009 1:40:00 AM

I've read many great reviews about this quad and I definitely agree with them. This quad blew me away because I originally didn't like Maybelline shadows because I've bought some a long time ago and they were not pigmented at all. I'm guessing this new line is definitely a change for Maybelline. The shadows aren't extremely pigmented, but they're good enough. The colors compliment each other well and it applies smoothly. I'm quite impressed with this product and I'm definitely going to buy more Maybelline quads.

Eyeliner -Maybelline - Ultra Liner Waterproof
rated 2 of 5
iluvvader9 11/7/2009 12:05:00 AM

I'm pretty disappointed with this product. I actually just bought this at Walgreens yesterday because there was a Maybelline bogo sale. Although I've only tried this once, I can already tell it's not that great of a product. When you first apply it, it looks extremely nice, with the shiny finish. But within an hour, it flakes off! Also, when you remove it with makeup remover, the product somewhat clumps up..unlike the usual where the color is supposed to smear and melt away. The eyeliner is really easy to get into eyes if not careful. Also, it's hard to have complete control when using this wand. I decided to try this one because I ran out of my Revlon Colorstay, and this product definitely DOES NOT compare to Revlon Colorstay at all.

Palettes -Too Faced - Natural Eye Kit
rated 5 of 5
iluvvader9 11/4/2009 9:56:00 PM

I REALLY like this kit a lot. The 3 highlighting colors are really amazing. Now those are the only highlighting colors I use. They're good for your brow bones and tear ducts or wherever you want to highlight. The eyeshadows are pretty neutral so they consist of browns, taupes, and golds. They're perfect for everyday wear and if you want that more natural and subtle look. But you can definitely layer on the color and make it more smoky for a nighttime look. The colors are very pigmented and the texture is pretty smooth. I'm very impressed by this pallette. If you're into more darker or smokier looks, they also have the Smokey Eye Kit as well. ;D
